മത്തായി 15
1 അതിനുശേഷം ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്ന് ചില പരീശന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്,
Then the scribes and Pharisees, who are from Jerusalem, come to Jesus, saying,
2 “അങ്ങയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പൂർവികരുടെ പാരമ്പര്യം ലംഘിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? അവർ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് കൈ കഴുകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ!” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Wherefore do thy disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
3 അതിന് യേശു ചോദിച്ച മറുചോദ്യം: “നിങ്ങളുടെ പാരമ്പര്യം അനുവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവകൽപ്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?
And responding He said to them; Wherefore do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?
4 ‘നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ബഹുമാനിക്കണം’ എന്നും ‘പിതാവിനെയോ മാതാവിനെയോ ശപിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിക്ക് വധശിക്ഷനൽകണം’ എന്നും ദൈവം കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
For God commanded saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die with death.
5 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ: ‘ഒരാൾ തന്റെ പിതാവിനോടോ മാതാവിനോടോ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകേണ്ട സഹായം ദൈവത്തിനുള്ള വഴിപാടായി നേർന്നുപോയല്ലോ’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ, അയാൾ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല എന്നല്ലേ.
But you say, Whosoever may say to father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever you may be profited by me; and he shall no longer honor his father or his mother.
6 ഇങ്ങനെയായാൽ അയാൾ പിന്നെ ‘മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ആദരിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല’ എന്നും നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു. ഈ വിധത്തിൽ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പരമ്പരാഗതമായ സമ്പ്രദായങ്ങളിലൂടെ നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവകൽപ്പന അസാധുവാക്കുകയല്ലേ?
You made void the commandment of God by your tradition.
7 കപടഭക്തരേ, യെശയ്യാവ് നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിച്ചത് എത്ര കൃത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു:
Ye hypocrites, beautifully did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, saying,
8 “‘ഈ ജനം അധരങ്ങളാൽ എന്നെ ആദരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ എന്നിൽനിന്ന് അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
9 അവർ എന്നെ വ്യർഥമായി ആരാധിക്കുന്നു; അവർ മനുഷ്യരുടെ നിയമങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണങ്ങളായി ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു.’”
But in vain they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
10 പിന്നെ യേശു ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ തന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു വിളിച്ച് അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവം കേട്ടു മനസ്സിലാക്കുക.
And calling the multitude to Him, He said to them, Hear and understand:
11 മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നതല്ല, പിന്നെയോ വായിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ആ വ്യക്തിയെ ‘അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്.’”
That if which cometh into the mouth does not defile the man; but that which cometh out from the mouth, that defiles the man.
12 അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സമീപിച്ച്, “ഈ വചനം പരീശന്മാരെ പ്രകോപിതരാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അങ്ങ് അറിയുന്നോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then His disciples having come to Him say, Do you not know that the Pharisees hearing your word, were offended?
13 യേശു അതിനുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്റെ സ്വർഗസ്ഥപിതാവു നട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത എല്ലാ തൈയും വേരോടെ പിഴുതുനീക്കപ്പെടും.
And He responding said, Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be rooted up.
14 അവരെ ഗൗനിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല; അവർ അന്ധരായ വഴികാട്ടികൾ ആകുന്നു. ഒരന്ധൻ മറ്റൊരന്ധനെ നയിച്ചാൽ ഇരുവരും കുഴിയിൽ വീഴും.”
Let them alone: the blind are leaders of the blind: if the blind may lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch.
15 “ആ സാദൃശ്യകഥ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വിശദീകരിച്ചു തരണമേ,” പത്രോസ് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
Peter responding said to Him, Explain unto us the parable.
16 “നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോഴും ഇത്ര ബുദ്ധിഹീനരോ?” യേശു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Jesus said, Are you indeed still without understanding?
17 “വായിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നതെന്തും വയറ്റിൽ എത്തിയതിനുശേഷം ശരീരത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുപോകുന്നെന്ന് അറിയാമല്ലോ.
Do you know that everything entering into the mouth goes into the stomach, and is cast out into excrement?
18 എന്നാൽ, വായിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവയാകട്ടെ, ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവയാകുന്നു; അവയാണ് ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്.
But those things going out from the mouth come forth from the heart; and these pollute the man.
19 വഷളവിചാരങ്ങൾ, കൊലപാതകം, വ്യഭിചാരം, ലൈംഗികാധർമം, മോഷണം, കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം, അന്യരെ നിന്ദിക്കൽ എന്നിവ ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു;
For out of the heart proceed evil reasonings, murders, fornications, adulteries, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.
20 ഇവയെല്ലാമാണ് ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്; എന്നാൽ കഴുകാത്ത കൈകൊണ്ട് ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയില്ല.”
These are the things which defile the man: but to eat bread with unwashed hands does not defile the man.
21 യേശു ആ സ്ഥലംവിട്ടു സോർ, സീദോൻ എന്നീ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
And Jesus having come out thence, departed into the regions of Tyre and Sidon.
22 അപ്പോൾ അവിടെനിന്നുള്ള കനാൻ നിവാസിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ വന്ന് നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “കർത്താവേ, ദാവീദുപുത്രാ, എന്നോട് കരുണയുണ്ടാകണമേ! ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്റെ മകളെ ബാധിച്ച് അവളെ അതികഠിനമായി പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And behold, a Canaanitish woman having come out from those coasts, cried unto Him saying, Have mercy on me, Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is terribly demonized.
23 യേശു ഒരു വാക്കും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്, “നമുക്ക് പിന്നാലെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു വരുന്ന അവളെ പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And He responded to her not a word; and His disciples, having come to Him, asked Him, saying, Send her away; because she cries after us.
24 “ഇസ്രായേലിലെ കാണാതെപോയ ആടുകളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കുമാത്രമാണ് എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്,” എന്ന് യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
And He responding said, I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 എന്നാൽ, ആ സ്ത്രീ വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണ്, “കർത്താവേ, എന്നെ സഹായിക്കണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And having come she continued to worship Him, saying, Lord, assist me.
26 അതിന് യേശു, “മക്കളുടെ അപ്പം എടുത്ത് നായ്ക്കുട്ടികൾക്ക് എറിഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുന്നത് അനുയോജ്യമല്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
He responding said, It is not good to take the children's bread and cast it to the little dogs.
27 “ശരിയാണ് കർത്താവേ,” അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു. “എങ്കിലും നായ്ക്കുട്ടികളും അവയുടെ യജമാനരുടെ മേശയിൽനിന്ന് വീഴുന്ന അപ്പനുറുക്കുകൾ തിന്നുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ.”
And she said, Yea, Lord: for the little dogs eat of the crumbs falling from their master's table.
28 അപ്പോൾ യേശു, “സ്ത്രീയേ, നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം വലിയത്! നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിനക്ക് ഭവിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. ആ നിമിഷംതന്നെ അവളുടെ മകൾക്ക് സൗഖ്യം ലഭിച്ചു.
Then Jesus responding said to her, O woman, great is thy faith; let it be done unto thee as thou dost wish. And her daughter was healed from that hour.
29 യേശു അവിടംവിട്ട് ഗലീലാതടാകതീരത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ച് ഒരു മലമുകളിൽ കയറി, അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.
And Jesus having departed thence, came to the Sea of Galilee; and having gone up into the mountain, He was sitting there.
30 ഒരു വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടം; മുടന്തർ, അന്ധർ, വികലാംഗർ, ഊമകൾ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പലതരം രോഗികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ കിടത്തി. യേശു അവർക്കെല്ലാം സൗഖ്യം നൽകി.
And many multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, the blind, the deaf, the maimed, and many others, and laid them down at the feet of Jesus; and He healed them:
31 ഊമകൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും വികലാംഗർ സൗഖ്യമാകുന്നതും മുടന്തർ നടക്കുന്നതും അന്ധർ കാഴ്ചയുള്ളവരായിത്തീരുന്നതും കണ്ട് ജനം ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു. അവർ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തി.
so that the multitudes were astonished, seeing the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking about, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ അടുക്കൽ വിളിച്ച് അവരോട്, “എനിക്ക് ഈ ജനത്തോട് സഹതാപം തോന്നുന്നു. ഇവർ എന്നോടൊപ്പമായിട്ട് മൂന്നുദിവസമായി; ഇവർക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഒന്നുംതന്നെ ഇല്ല. ഇവരെ വിശപ്പോടെ പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കാൻ എനിക്ക് താത്പര്യമില്ല; അവർ വഴിയിൽ തളർന്നുവീഴും.”
And Jesus calling His disciples to Him, said, I sympathize with the multitude, because already three days abide unto me, and they have nothing which they may eat; I do not wish to send them away fasting, lest they may faint on the road.
33 അതിനു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ, “ഈ വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തിനു ആവശ്യമുള്ളത്ര ഭക്ഷണം ഈ വിജനപ്രദേശത്ത് നമുക്ക് എവിടെനിന്നു ലഭിക്കും?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And His disciples say to Him, Whence is there to us so much bread in the wilderness, as to feed so great a multitude?
34 യേശു അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈയിൽ എത്ര അപ്പം ഉണ്ട്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഏഴ്, കുറച്ചു ചെറിയ മീനും ഉണ്ട്,” അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And Jesus says to them; How much bread have ye? And they said, Seven loaves and a few fishes.
35 യേശു ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തോട് തറയിലിരിക്കാൻ കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
He having commanded the multitudes to sit down upon the ground,
36 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ആ ഏഴ് അപ്പവും മീനും എടുത്ത് ദൈവത്തിന് സ്തോത്രംചെയ്ത് നുറുക്കി ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയും അവർ അത് ജനത്തിന് കൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
He took the seven loaves and the fishes; having given thanks, He broke them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 എല്ലാവരും ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തരായി. ശേഷിച്ച നുറുക്കുകൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഏഴു കുട്ട നിറയെ ശേഖരിച്ചു.
And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up the residue of fragments, seven baskets full.
38 ഭക്ഷിച്ചവർ സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയുംകൂടാതെ നാലായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
And those eating were about tour thousand men, besides women and children.
39 ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ യാത്രയയച്ചശേഷം യേശു വള്ളത്തിൽ കയറി മഗദാ ദേശത്തേക്കു പോയി.
And having sent away the multitudes, He went into a ship and came into the coasts of Magdala.
