മത്തായി 14
1 ആ കാലത്ത് ഗലീലയിലെ ഭരണാധികാരിയായിരുന്ന ഹെരോദാവ് യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാർത്തകേട്ട്,
At that time, Herod [Heroic] the tetrarch (one of four co-emperors) heard the report concerning Yeshua [Salvation],
2 തന്റെ സേവകന്മാരോട്, “ഇദ്ദേഹം യോഹന്നാൻസ്നാപകൻതന്നെയാണ്. യോഹന്നാൻ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു! അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഈ അത്ഭുതങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and said to his servants, “This is John [Yah is gracious] the Immerser. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
3 ഹെരോദാവ്, തന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യ നിമിത്തം, നേരത്തേ യോഹന്നാനെ ബന്ധിച്ച് കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ അടച്ചിരുന്നു.
For Herod [Heroic] had laid hold of John [Yah is gracious], and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip [Loves horses]’s wife.
4 “നീ നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായാണ് അവളെ സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്,” എന്ന് യോഹന്നാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതിനാലാണ് അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തത്.
For John [Yah is gracious] said to him, “It violates the Torah ·Teaching· for you to have her as your wife.”
5 യോഹന്നാനെ വധിക്കാൻ ഹെരോദാവ് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചെങ്കിലും ജനം യോഹന്നാനെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു കരുതിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ രാജാവ് ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.
When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ ജന്മദിനത്തിൽ ഹെരോദ്യയുടെ പുത്രി രാജസദസ്സിൽ നൃത്തം ചെയ്ത്, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വളരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചതിനാൽ
But when Herod [Heroic]’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod [Heroic].
7 അവൾ എന്തു ചോദിച്ചാലും കൊടുക്കാമെന്ന് രാജാവ് ശപഥംചെയ്തുപറഞ്ഞു.
There he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
8 അപ്പോൾ അവൾ തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ നിർദേശപ്രകാരം, “യോഹന്നാൻസ്നാപകന്റെ തല ഒരു തളികയിൽ എനിക്ക് തരണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John [Yah is gracious] the Immerser.”
9 രാജാവ് ദുഃഖിതനായി; താൻ ചെയ്തുപോയ ശപഥത്തെയും അതിഥികളെയും മാനിച്ച് അവളുടെ ആഗ്രഹം നിറവേറ്റാൻ ആജ്ഞ നൽകി.
The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
10 അങ്ങനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽവെച്ച് യോഹന്നാനെ ശിരച്ഛേദംചെയ്യിച്ചു;
and he sent and beheaded John [Yah is gracious] in the prison.
11 അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തല ഒരു തളികയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് ആ പെൺകുട്ടിക്ക് കൊടുത്തു. അവൾ അത് അമ്മയ്ക്കും നൽകി.
His head was brought on a platter, and given to the young lady: and she brought it to her mother.
12 യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്ത് സംസ്കരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവർ ഈ വിവരം യേശുവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
His disciples came, and took the body, and buried it; and they went and told Yeshua [Salvation].
13 യേശു ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ട് വള്ളത്തിൽ കയറി അവിടെനിന്ന് തനിച്ച് ഒരു വിജനസ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് പോയി. ഇതറിഞ്ഞ ജനക്കൂട്ടം പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് കരമാർഗം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി യാത്രചെയ്തു.
Now when Yeshua [Salvation] heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
14 യേശു കരയ്ക്കിറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ഒരു വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെക്കണ്ടു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അവരോടു സഹതാപം തോന്നി; അവരുടെ രോഗികളെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കി.
Yeshua [Salvation] went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15 സന്ധ്യാനേരം അടുത്തപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്, “ഇതൊരു വിജനസ്ഥലമാണ്; നേരവും വളരെ വൈകിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ജനത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ ആഹാരം വാങ്ങുന്നതിന് അവരെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
16 അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യേശു, “അവർ പോകേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ല; നിങ്ങൾ അവർക്ക് എന്തെങ്കിലും ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ കൊടുക്ക്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But Yeshua [Salvation] said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 “ഇവിടെ ഞങ്ങളുടെപക്കൽ അഞ്ചപ്പവും രണ്ടുമീനും അല്ലാതെ ഒന്നുമില്ല,” എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
18 “എങ്കിൽ അവ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക,” എന്ന് യേശു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട്
He said, “Bring them here to me.”
19 ജനങ്ങളോട് പുൽപ്പുറത്ത് ഇരിക്കാൻ നിർദേശിച്ചു. യേശു ആ അഞ്ച് അപ്പവും രണ്ട് മീനും എടുത്തു സ്വർഗത്തിലേക്കു നോക്കി വാഴ്ത്തി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി, ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്ക് കൊടുത്തു; ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അത് ജനത്തിന് വിളമ്പി.
He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20 എല്ലാവരും ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തരായി. അവശേഷിച്ച നുറുക്കുകൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പന്ത്രണ്ട് കുട്ട നിറയെ ശേഖരിച്ചു.
They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
21 ഭക്ഷിച്ചവർ സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുട്ടികളെയുംകൂടാതെ ഏകദേശം അയ്യായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
Those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 യേശു ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ യാത്രയയയ്ക്കുന്നതിനിടയിൽ, തനിക്കുമുമ്പേ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വള്ളത്തിൽ കയറി അക്കരയ്ക്കു പോകാൻ അവരെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.
Immediately Yeshua [Salvation] made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23 ജനത്തെ യാത്രയയച്ചതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാർഥിക്കുന്നതിന് ഏകനായി ഒരു മലയിലേക്ക് കയറിപ്പോയി. അദ്ദേഹം ആ രാത്രിയിൽ അവിടെ തനിച്ചായിരുന്നു.
After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24 അപ്പോൾ വള്ളം കരയിൽനിന്ന് വളരെദൂരം പോയിരുന്നു. കാറ്റു പ്രതികൂലമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ വള്ളം തിരകളാൽ ആടിയുലയുകയുമായിരുന്നു.
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, a stadious’ distance [1/8 mi; 660 ft; 201.2 m, Greek race track distance], distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 രാത്രി മൂന്നുമണിക്കുശേഷം യേശു തടാകത്തിനുമീതേകൂടി നടന്ന് ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി.
It was about four o'clock in the morning, Yeshua [Salvation] came to them, walking on the sea.
26 അദ്ദേഹം തടാകത്തിന്റെ മീതേ നടക്കുന്നതുകണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭയവിഹ്വലരായി, “അയ്യോ, ഭൂതം!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് ഭയന്ന് അവർ അലമുറയിട്ടു.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
27 ഉടനെതന്നെ യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു, “ധൈര്യപ്പെടുക, ഇത് ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട.”
But immediately Yeshua [Salvation] spoke to them, saying, “Take heart! Ena Na [I AM (the Living God)]! Don’t be afraid.”
28 അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ്, “കർത്താവേ, അത് അങ്ങ് ആകുന്നെങ്കിൽ, ഞാൻ വെള്ളത്തിനുമീതേ നടന്ന് അങ്ങയുടെ അടുത്തെത്താൻ കൽപ്പിക്കണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
Peter [Rock] answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
29 “വരിക,” അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ് വള്ളത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങി വെള്ളത്തിനുമീതേകൂടി യേശുവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു നടന്നു.
He said, “Come!” Peter [Rock] stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Yeshua [Salvation].
30 എന്നാൽ, അയാൾ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു കണ്ട് ഭയപ്പെട്ട് മുങ്ങാൻ തുടങ്ങി. “കർത്താവേ, രക്ഷിക്കണമേ,” അയാൾ നിലവിളിച്ചു.
But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 യേശു ഉടൻതന്നെ കൈനീട്ടി പത്രോസിനെ പിടിച്ചു; “അൽപ്പവിശ്വാസീ, നീ എന്തിന് സംശയിച്ചു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Immediately Yeshua [Salvation] stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little trusting faith, why did you doubt?”
32 പിന്നെ, അവർ വള്ളത്തിൽ കയറിയപ്പോൾ കാറ്റ് ശമിച്ചു.
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 വള്ളത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവർ, “അങ്ങ് ദൈവപുത്രൻതന്നെ സത്യം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വീണുവണങ്ങി.
Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Ben-Elohim ·Son of Elohim God·!”
34 അവർ തടാകത്തിന്റെ അക്കരെ ഗെന്നേസരെത്തിൽ എത്തി.
When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35 ആ ദേശവാസികൾ യേശുവിനെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, യേശു വന്ന വിവരം സമീപപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചു. ജനം രോഗബാധിതരായ എല്ലാവരെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick;
36 അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായത്തിന്റെ വിളുമ്പിലെങ്കിലും തൊടാൻ രോഗികൾക്ക് അനുവാദം നൽകണമെന്ന് അവർ യാചിച്ചു; തൊട്ടവർക്കെല്ലാം സൗഖ്യം ലഭിച്ചു.
and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
