മർക്കൊസ് 14
1 പെസഹയെന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുന്നാളിന് രണ്ട് ദിവസംകൂടിമാത്രമേ ശേഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും യേശുവിനെ ചതിവിൽ പിടികൂടി കൊല്ലുന്നതിനെപ്പറ്റി ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തി.
After two days was the passover and the feast of unleavened bread; and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and kill him.
2 “കലാപം ഉണ്ടായേക്കാം, അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇത് പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാൾ സമയത്ത് പാടില്ല” എന്നിങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു അവരുടെ ചർച്ച.
But they said: Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult of the people.
3 ഈ സമയത്ത് അദ്ദേഹം ബെഥാന്യയിൽ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായിരുന്ന ശിമോന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഒരു സ്ത്രീ വളരെ വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള സ്വച്ഛജടാമാഞ്ചിതൈലം നിറച്ച ഒരു വെൺകൽഭരണിയുമായി വന്നു. അവൾ ഭരണി പൊട്ടിച്ച് യേശുവിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ ആ തൈലം ഒഴിച്ചു.
And while he was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he reclined at table, there came a woman that had an alabaster box of ointment of pure nard, very costly; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head.
4 അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവരിൽ ചിലർ നീരസത്തോടെ പരസ്പരം, “ഈ സുഗന്ധതൈലം പാഴാക്കിയതെന്തിന്?
And some of them were displeased within themselves, and said: For what purpose was this waste of the ointment?
5 ഇത് മുന്നൂറിലധികം ദിനാറിനു വിറ്റു പണം ദരിദ്രർക്ക് ദാനം ചെയ്യാമായിരുന്നല്ലോ?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവളെ ശകാരിച്ചു.
For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6 അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യേശു: “‘അവളെ വെറുതേവിട്ടേക്കുക, അവളെ വിമർശിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്?’ അവൾ എനിക്ക് ചെയ്തത് ഒരു നല്ലകാര്യമാണല്ലോ.
But Jesus said: Let her alone; why do you trouble her? She has performed a good work on me.
7 ദരിദ്രർ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ, അവരെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എപ്പോൾ വേണമെങ്കിലും സഹായിക്കാം. ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയില്ല.
For you have the poor with you always; and whenever you choose, you can do them good; but me you have not always.
8 തനിക്കു കഴിവുള്ളത് അവൾ ചെയ്തു. എന്റെ ശവസംസ്കാരത്തിനുള്ള ഒരുക്കമായി അവൾ ഈ സുഗന്ധതൈലം മുൻകൂട്ടി എന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്മേൽ ഒഴിക്കുകയാണ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.
She has done what she could; she has come beforehand to anoint my body for its burial.
9 ലോകമെങ്ങും, സുവിശേഷം വിളംബരംചെയ്യുന്നിടത്തെല്ലാം, അവൾ ചെയ്തത് അവളുടെ സ്മരണയ്ക്കായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെടും, നിശ്ചയം, എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”
Verily I say to you, wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also which she has done shall be told, for a memorial of her.
10 പിന്നീട് പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളായ യൂദാ ഈസ്കര്യോത്ത് യേശുവിനെ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർക്ക് ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി അവരുടെ അടുത്തേക്കുപോയി.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him up to them.
11 അവർ ഇതു കേട്ട് അത്യധികം ആനന്ദിച്ച് അയാൾക്കു പണം നൽകാമെന്ന് വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തു. യൂദാ, ആ നിമിഷംമുതൽ യേശുവിനെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യിക്കാനുള്ള തക്കംനോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him up.
12 പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുന്നാളിലെ ആദ്യദിവസം, പെസഹാക്കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ അറക്കുന്ന ആ ദിവസം, ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശുവിനോട്, “അങ്ങേക്ക് പെസഹ ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ എവിടെപ്പോയാണ് ഒരുക്കേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said to him: Where dost thou wish that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
13 അദ്ദേഹം ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരെ വിളിച്ച് അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ ജെറുശലേം പട്ടണത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുക; ഒരുകുടം വെള്ളം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോകുന്ന ഒരുവൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായി വരും. അയാളുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലുക.
And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them: Go into the city, and there will meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water;
14 അയാൾ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്ന വീടിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥനോട്, ‘ഞാൻ എന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടൊത്ത് പെസഹ ആചരിക്കാനുള്ള എന്റെ വിരുന്നുശാല എവിടെ, എന്ന് ഗുരു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുക’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house: The Teacher says, Where is the room in which I may eat the passover with my disciples?
15 വിശാലവും സുസജ്ജവുമായൊരു മാളികമുറി അയാൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കാണിച്ചുതരും. അവിടെ നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and made ready; there make ready for us.
16 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യാത്രചെയ്ത് നഗരത്തിലെത്തി; യേശു തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ എല്ലാം കണ്ടു; അവിടെ അവർ പെസഹ ഒരുക്കി.
And his disciples went out, and came into the city, and found as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.
17 സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ, യേശു പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടൊപ്പം അവിടെ എത്തി.
And in the evening, he came with the twelve.
18 അവർ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, “നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരുവൻ—എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരുവൻതന്നെ—എന്നെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കും എന്നു നിശ്ചയമായും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്ന് യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.
And while they were reclining at table, and were eating, Jesus said to them: Verily I say to you, One of you, he that eats with me, will deliver me up.
19 അവർ ദുഃഖിതരായി; ഓരോരുത്തൻ “അതു ഞാനല്ലല്ലോ,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ചോദിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
And they began to be sad, and to say to him, one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 അതിനുത്തരമായി യേശു: “അത് പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരാൾതന്നെയാണ്, എന്നോടൊപ്പം പാത്രത്തിൽ അപ്പം മുക്കുന്നവൻതന്നെ.
He answered and said to them: It is one of the twelve, he that dips with me into the dish.
21 മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ (ഞാൻ) പോകുന്നു; തന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ അവന് സംഭവിക്കും. എന്നാൽ, മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്റെ സ്ഥിതി അതിഭയാനകം! ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ജനിക്കാതിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവനത് എത്ര നന്നായിരുന്നേനെ!”
The Son of man goes, as it is written of him; but alas for that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.
22 അവർ പെസഹ ഭക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യേശു അപ്പം എടുത്ത് വാഴ്ത്തി നുറുക്കി ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്ക് നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട്, “വാങ്ങുക; ഇത് എന്റെ ശരീരം ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And while they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said: Take, eat; this is my body.
23 പിന്നെ അവിടന്ന് പാനപാത്രം എടുത്ത് ദൈവത്തിന് സ്തോത്രംചെയ്ത് അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവരെല്ലാവരും അതിൽനിന്നു പാനംചെയ്തു.
And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them; and they all drank of it.
24 അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട്, “ഇത് എന്റെ രക്തം ആകുന്നു, അനേകർക്കുവേണ്ടി ചൊരിയപ്പെടുന്ന, ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ രക്തം.
And he said to them: This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.
25 ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ ഇത് പുതുതായി കുടിക്കുന്ന ദിവസംവരെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ ഫലത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും പാനം ചെയ്യുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു, നിശ്ചയം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Verily I say to you, I shall drink no more of the fruit of the vine, till that day when I shall drink it new in the kingdom of God.
26 ഇതിനുശേഷം അവർ ഒരു സ്തോത്രഗീതം പാടി; ഒലിവുമലയിലേക്ക് പോയി.
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
27 യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞത്: “നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും എന്നെ പരിത്യജിക്കും; “‘ഞാൻ ഇടയനെ വെട്ടും, ആടുകൾ ചിതറിപ്പോകും’ എന്നു രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ.
And Jesus said to them: All of you will find in me an occasion for offense this night; for it is written: I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
28 എന്നാൽ, ഞാൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റതിനുശേഷം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പായി ഗലീലയിലേക്കു പോകും.”
But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
29 ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ്, “എല്ലാവരും അങ്ങയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചാലും ഞാൻ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Peter said to him: Though all should find occasion for offense, yet I will not.
30 അതിന് യേശു, “ഇന്ന്, ഈ രാത്രിയിൽത്തന്നെ, കോഴി രണ്ടുതവണ കൂവുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ്, നിശ്ചയമായും എന്നെ നീ മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യം തിരസ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, this day, during this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.
31 എന്നാൽ പത്രോസ്, “അങ്ങയോടൊപ്പം മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലും, ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെ തിരസ്കരിക്കുകയില്ല” എന്നു തറപ്പിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. മറ്റുള്ളവരും ഇതുതന്നെ ആവർത്തിച്ചു.
But he said with the more vehemence: Though it should be necessary for me to die with thee, I would not deny thee. And so said they all.
32 പിന്നെ അവർ ഗെത്ത്ശേമന എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തി. യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്, “ഞാൻ പ്രാർഥിച്ചു തീരുന്നതുവരെ ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And they came to a place called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples: Sit here, while I pray.
33 അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം പത്രോസ്, യാക്കോബ്, യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി. അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം ദുഃഖവിവശനും വ്യാകുലനുമാകാൻ തുടങ്ങി,
And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be in dismay and anguish of soul.
34 “എന്റെ പ്രാണനിൽ ദുഃഖം നിറഞ്ഞുകവിഞ്ഞിട്ട് ഞാൻ മരണാസന്നനായിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടൊപ്പം ഇവിടെ ഉണർന്നിരിക്കുക” എന്ന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he said to them: My soul is encompassed with sorrow, even to death; remain here, and watch.
35 പിന്നെ യേശു അൽപ്പംകൂടെ മുമ്പോട്ടുചെന്ന് നിലത്തു വീണ്, കഴിയുമെങ്കിൽ ആ മണിക്കൂറുകൾ തന്നിൽനിന്ന് നീങ്ങിപ്പോകാനായി പിതാവിനോട്:
And he went forward a little, and fell upon the ground, and prayed, that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him;
36 “അബ്ബാ, പിതാവേ, അവിടത്തേക്കു സകലതും സാധ്യമാണല്ലോ. ഈ പാനപാത്രം എന്നിൽനിന്ന് മാറ്റണമേ. എങ്കിലും എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെയല്ല, അവിടത്തെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെതന്നെ ആകട്ടെ” എന്നു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.
and he said: Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; let this cup pass from me: but not what I will, but what thou wiliest.
37 അതിനുശേഷം, യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു. ഉറക്കത്തിലാണ്ടുപോയ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെക്കണ്ടിട്ട്, അദ്ദേഹം പത്രോസിനോട്, “ശിമോനേ, നീ ഉറങ്ങുന്നോ? ഒരു മണിക്കൂർപോലും ഉണർന്നിരിക്കാൻ നിനക്കു കഴിയുന്നില്ലേ?
And he came and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter: Simon, do you sleep? Had you not strength to watch one hour?
38 പ്രലോഭനത്തിൽ അകപ്പെടാതിരിക്കാൻ ഉണർന്നിരുന്ന് പ്രാർഥിക്കുക. ആത്മാവ് സന്നദ്ധം, എന്നാൽ ശരീരമോ ദുർബലം.”
Watch, and pray, all of you, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
39 ഒരിക്കൽക്കൂടി അദ്ദേഹം പോയി ആദ്യം പ്രാർഥിച്ച അതേ വാക്കുകൾതന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.
And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same thing.
40 അദ്ദേഹം തിരിച്ചെത്തിയപ്പോൾ നിദ്രാഭാരംകൊണ്ട് അവർ പിന്നെയും ഉറങ്ങുന്നതു കണ്ടു. അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് എന്തു വിശദീകരണം നൽകണമെന്ന് അവർക്ക് അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടായിരുന്നു.
And he returned, and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy; and they knew not what to answer him.
41 അദ്ദേഹം മൂന്നാംപ്രാവശ്യം തിരിച്ചുവന്ന്, അവരോട്, “ഇപ്പോഴും നിങ്ങൾ ഉറങ്ങി വിശ്രമിക്കുകയാണോ? മതി, മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ പാപികളുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടാൻപോകുന്ന സമയം ഇതാ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
And he came the third time, and said to them: Sleep the remaining time, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour has come; behold, the Son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.
42 എഴുന്നേൽക്കുക, നമുക്കു പോകാം; എന്നെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നവൻ ഇതാ ഇവിടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up draws near.
43 യേശു സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളായ യൂദാ അവിടെയെത്തി. പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും അയച്ച ഒരു ജനക്കൂട്ടം വാളുകളും വടികളുമേന്തി അവനോടൊപ്പം വന്നിരുന്നു.
And immediately, while he was yet speaking, came Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude, with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്ന, യൂദാ, “ഞാൻ ചുംബനംകൊണ്ട് ആരെ അഭിവാദനംചെയ്യുന്നോ; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യുക” എന്ന ഒരടയാളം അവരുമായി പറഞ്ഞൊത്തിരുന്നു. “യേശുവിനെ ബന്ധിച്ച് കരുതലോടെ കൊണ്ടുപൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളണം” എന്നും നിർദേശിച്ചിരുന്നു.
And he that delivered him up had given them a sign, saying: The one that I shall kiss, is he; take him, and lead him away securely.
45 അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ യൂദാ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കുചെന്ന് “റബ്ബീ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ചുംബിച്ചു.
And when he came, he immediately went up to him and said: Rabbi, Rabbi, and kissed him.
46 ഉടനെ ജനം യേശുവിനെ കടന്നുപിടിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ബന്ധിച്ചു.
And they laid their hands on him and took him.
47 അപ്പോൾ, യേശുവിന്റെ കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നവരിൽ ഒരാൾ വാൾ ഊരി മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസനെ വെട്ടി, അയാളുടെ കാത് ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And one of those who were standing by, drew a sword, and struck the servant of the chief priest, and cut off his ear.
48 യേശു അവരോട്, “ഞാൻ ഒരു വിപ്ളവം നയിക്കുന്നതിനാലാണോ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടാൻ വാളുകളും വടികളുമേന്തി വരുന്നത്?
And Jesus answering, said to them: Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to take me?
49 ഞാൻ ദിവസവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവാലയാങ്കണത്തിൽ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ എന്നെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തില്ല? എന്നാൽ തിരുവെഴുത്തുകൾ നിറവേറുന്നതിന് ഇതെല്ലാം സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
I was daily with you in the temple, and taught, and you did not take me; but this is so, that the scriptures may be fulfilled.
50 അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ എല്ലാവരും യേശുവിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഓടി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
And they all forsook him and fled.
51 ഒരു യുവാവ് പുതപ്പുമാത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And there followed him a certain young man, who had a linen garment around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him;
52 ജനക്കൂട്ടം അയാളെ പിടിച്ചപ്പോൾ അയാൾ വസ്ത്രം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടു നഗ്നനായി ഓടിപ്പോയി.
and he left the linen garment, and fled from them naked.
53 അവർ യേശുവിനെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു. എല്ലാ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും അവിടെ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി.
And they led Jesus away to the chief priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, and the elders, and the scribes.
54 അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ്, മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അരമനാങ്കണംവരെ അൽപ്പം അകലംവിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു. അവിടെ പത്രോസ് കാവൽക്കാരോടുകൂടെ തീകാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And Peter followed him, at a distance, even into the palace of the chief priest, and sat with the attendants, and warmed himself at the fire.
55 പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും യെഹൂദന്യായാധിപസമിതി മുഴുവനും യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഉതകുന്ന തെളിവുകൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെതിരേ അന്വേഷിച്ചു.
And the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin sought for testimony against Jesus, in order to put him to death, and found none.
56 പലരും യേശുവിനെതിരായി കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും അവരുടെ മൊഴികൾ പരസ്പരം പൊരുത്തപ്പെട്ടില്ലെന്നുമാത്രമല്ല, അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച നിലയിലുള്ളത് ഒന്നും അവർക്കു ലഭിച്ചുമില്ല.
For many testified falsely against him, and their testimony did not agree.
57 അപ്പോൾ ചിലർ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് എതിരായി,
And some rose up, and testified falsely against him, saying:
58 “‘കൈകളാൽ നിർമിച്ച ഈ മന്ദിരം നശിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം കൈകൊണ്ടു നിർമിക്കാത്ത മറ്റൊന്ന് മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തിനകം ഞാൻ പണിയും’ എന്ന് ഇയാൾ പറഞ്ഞതു ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.
59 എന്നിട്ടും അവരുടെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങൾ പൊരുത്തപ്പെട്ടില്ല.
And not even in this did their testimony agree.
60 അപ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ അവരുടെമുമ്പാകെ എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്നുകൊണ്ട്, “നിനക്ക് മറുപടിയൊന്നും ഇല്ലേ? ഇവർ നിനക്കെതിരായി ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന ഈ സാക്ഷ്യം എന്ത്?” എന്ന് യേശുവിനോട് ചോദിച്ചു.
And the chief priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying: Do you make no answer? What do these testify against you?
61 യേശുവോ, മറുപടിയൊന്നും കൊടുക്കാതെ നിശ്ശബ്ദനായിരുന്നു. മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ വീണ്ടും അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “താങ്കൾ അതിവന്ദ്യനായവന്റെ പുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തുവാണോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
But he was silent, and made no answer. Again, the chief priest asked him, and said to him: Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 അതിന് യേശു, “‘ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു,’ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ (ഞാൻ) സർവശക്തനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വലതുഭാഗത്ത് ഉപവിഷ്ടനായിരിക്കുന്നതും ആകാശമേഘങ്ങൾ വാഹനമാക്കി വരുന്നതും നിങ്ങൾ കാണും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus replied: I am. And you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the Almighty, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
63 ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രംകീറി. “ഇനി നമുക്ക് വേറെ സാക്ഷികളുടെ ആവശ്യം എന്ത്?
And the chief priest rent his clothes, and said: What further need have we of witnesses?
64 നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ ദൈവദൂഷണം കേട്ടുവല്ലോ. നിങ്ങൾ എന്തു വിധിക്കുന്നു?” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിച്ചു. അയാൾ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് അർഹൻ എന്ന് എല്ലാവരും വിധിച്ചു.
You have heard his impious speech. What think you? They all condemned him to be a subject of death.
65 അപ്പോൾ ചിലർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ തുപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങി, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കണ്ണ് മൂടിക്കെട്ടി മുഷ്ടിചുരുട്ടി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഇടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് “പ്രവചിക്കുക” എന്നു പറയുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടർന്ന് കാവൽക്കാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി പ്രഹരിച്ചു.
And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to strike him with their fists, and to say to him: Give a response. And the attendants struck him with their open hands.
66 പത്രോസ് താഴേ അങ്കണത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ വേലക്കാരിയായ ഒരു പെൺകുട്ടി അവിടെ എത്തി,
And while Peter was in the court below, one of the maidservants of the chief priest came;
67 തീകാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പത്രോസിനെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കി. “നീയും ആ നസറായനായ യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നല്ലോ,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said: You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.
68 എന്നാൽ, പത്രോസ് അതു നിഷേധിച്ചു. “എനിക്ക് അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ; നീ എന്താണു പറയുന്നത്; എനിക്കു മനസ്സിലാകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് പടിപ്പുരയിലേക്കു പോയി; അപ്പോൾ കോഴി കൂവി.
But he denied, saying: I neither know, nor understand what you say. And he went out into the entrance, and the cock crew.
69 ആ വേലക്കാരി അയാളെ അവിടെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, ചുറ്റും നിന്നിരുന്നവരോട്, “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ അക്കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരാളാണ്” എന്ന് പിന്നെയും പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.
And the maid-servant saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by: This man is one of them.
70 അയാൾ വീണ്ടും അതു നിഷേധിച്ചു. അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിഞ്ഞ്, അടുത്തുനിന്നിരുന്നവർ പത്രോസിനോട്, “ഒരു സംശയവുമില്ല, നീ അവരിൽ ഒരാൾതന്നെയാണ്, നീ ഒരു ഗലീലക്കാരനാണല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
He again denied. And again, after a little while, those who stood by said to Peter: Surely, you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech is like theirs.
71 “നീ പറയുന്ന ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ഞാൻ അറിയുകയേ ഇല്ല!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അയാൾ ആണയിടാനും ശപിക്കാനും തുടങ്ങി.
But he began to curse and to swear, saying: I know not this man of whom you speak.
72 ഉടനെ കോഴി രണ്ടാംപ്രാവശ്യം കൂവി. “കോഴി രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം കൂവുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യം നീ എന്നെ തിരസ്കരിക്കും” എന്ന് യേശു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന വാക്ക് പത്രോസ് ഓർത്ത് ഹൃദയം തകർന്നു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.
And immediately the cock crew the second time. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times. And when he thought upon it, he wept.
