മലാഖി 1

1 ഒരു പ്രവചനം: മലാഖി പ്രവാചകനിലൂടെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു യഹോവ നൽകിയ അരുളപ്പാട്.

The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

2 “ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ചോദിക്കുന്നു, ‘എങ്ങനെയാണ് അവിടന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചത്?’” യഹോവ ഉത്തരമരുളി: “ഏശാവ് യാക്കോബിന്റെ സഹോദരനായിരുന്നല്ലോ? എന്നിട്ടും ഞാൻ യാക്കോബിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.

I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, In what hast thou loved us? [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

3 എന്നാൽ ഏശാവിനെ ഞാൻ വെറുത്തു. ഞാൻ അവന്റെ പർവതങ്ങളെ തരിശുനിലമാക്കി, അവന്റെ അവകാശത്തെ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കുറുനരികൾക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.”

And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

4 “ഞങ്ങൾ തകർക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ നഷ്ടശിഷ്ടങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങൾ പുതുക്കിപ്പണിയും,” എന്ന് ഏദോം പറയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “അവർ പണിയട്ടെ, ഞാൻ ഇടിച്ചുകളയും; അവർ ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ദേശമെന്നും യഹോവയുടെ കോപം എന്നേക്കും വഹിക്കുന്ന ജനതയെന്നും പേരുവിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

5 സ്വന്തം കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ഇതു കണ്ടിട്ട്, ‘യഹോവ വലിയവൻ, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരിനും അപ്പുറത്തോളംതന്നെ!’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയും.

And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

6 “പുത്രൻ പിതാവിനെയും ദാസൻ യജമാനനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ പിതാവെങ്കിൽ എന്നോടുള്ള ബഹുമാനം എവിടെ? ഞാൻ യജമാനനെങ്കിൽ എന്നോടുള്ള ഭക്തി എവിടെ?” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ചോദിക്കുന്നു. “എന്റെ നാമത്തോട് ആദരവുപുലർത്താത്ത പുരോഹിതന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു, ‘എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയുടെ നാമം മലിനമാക്കിയത്?’

A son honoreth [his] father, and a servant his master: if then I [am] a father, where [is] my honor? and if I [am] a master, where [is] my fear? saith the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, In what have we despised thy name?

7 “നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിൽ മലിനഭോജനം അർപ്പിക്കുന്നു. “എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ചോദിക്കുന്നു: ‘ഏതിനാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയെ മലിനമാക്കി?’ “യഹോവയുടെ മേശ ആദരവ് അർഹിക്കാത്തത് എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതിനാൽത്തന്നെ.

Ye offer polluted bread upon my altar? and ye say, In what have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD [is] contemptible.

8 നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ണുപൊട്ടിയ മൃഗങ്ങളെ യാഗത്തിനു കൊണ്ടുവരുമ്പോൾ, അതു നിന്ദ്യമല്ലേ? മുടന്തും ദീനവുമുള്ളതിനെ കാഴ്ചവെച്ചാൽ, അതും നിന്ദ്യമല്ലേ? ഇവ നീ ദേശാധിപതികൾക്കു കാഴ്ചവെച്ചാൽ അവർ നിന്നോടു പ്രസാദിക്കുമോ?” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? offer it now to thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

9 “ആകയാൽ ദൈവം നമ്മോടു കരുണ കാണിക്കത്തക്കവിധം അവിടത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ. ഇത്തരം യാഗം അർപ്പിച്ചാൽ അവിടന്ന് നിന്നോടു പ്രീതി കാണിക്കുമോ?” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious to us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your person? saith the LORD of hosts.

10 “നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിൽ വ്യർഥമായി തീ കത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ നിങ്ങളിലൊരുവൻ വാതിൽ അടച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ! നിങ്ങളിൽ എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ കരങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ ഒരു വഴിപാടും സ്വീകരിക്കുകയുമില്ല,” എന്ന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Who [is there] even among you that would shut the doors [for nought]? neither do ye kindle [fire] on my altar for naught. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

11 “സൂര്യന്റെ ഉദയംമുതൽ അസ്തമയംവരെ എന്റെ നാമം ജനതകളുടെയിടയിൽ ഉന്നതമായിരിക്കും. എല്ലായിടത്തും എന്റെ നാമത്തിനു ധൂപവും നിർമലമായ വഴിപാടും അർപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കാരണം എന്റെ നാമം ജനതകളുടെയിടയിൽ ഉന്നതമാണ്,” എന്നും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

For from the rising of the sun even to the setting of the same, my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense [shall be] offered to my name, and a pure offering: for my name [shall be] great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

12 “‘കർത്താവിന്റെ മേശയെക്കുറിച്ച്, അത് നിന്ദ്യം,’ എന്നും ‘അതിലെ ഭോജ്യത്തെ മലിനം,’ എന്നും നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതിനാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നാമം അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.

But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD [is] polluted; and the fruit of it, [even] his provision, is contemptible.

13 ‘എന്തൊരു മടുപ്പ്,’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അതിനെതിരേ ചീറിയടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “മുറിവേറ്റവയും മുടന്തുള്ളവയും രോഗം ബാധിച്ചവയുമായ മൃഗങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് യാഗമർപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ കരങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ അതു സ്വീകരിക്കണമോ,” എന്ന് യഹോവ ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness [is it]! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought [that which was] torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this from your hand? saith the LORD.

14 “തന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തിൽ ഊനമില്ലാത്ത ഒരു ആൺ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയും അതിനെ കർത്താവിനു നേർന്നിട്ട്, ഊനമുള്ള തള്ളയെ കർത്താവിനു യാഗം കഴിക്കുന്ന വഞ്ചകൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. ഞാൻ മഹാരാജാവല്ലോ, ജനതകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ എന്റെ നാമം ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതാണ്,” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

But cursed [be] the deceiver, who hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth to the LORD a corrupt thing: for I [am] a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name [is] dreadful among the heathen.
