ലൂക്കോസ് 23
1 അനന്തരം ആ സംഘം ഒന്നാകെ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് യേശുവിനെ റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
And the whole assemblage of them arose, and carried him before Pilate.
2 “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജനങ്ങളെ വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്നതായി ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കൈസർക്കു നികുതി കൊടുക്കുന്നത് ഇയാൾ വിലക്കുകയും താൻ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രാജാവാണെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is the Christ, the king.
3 പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനോട്, “നീയാണോ യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് യേശു, “അതേ, താങ്കൾ പറയുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And he answering said to him, I am.
4 അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരോടും ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തോടും, “ഞാൻ ഈ മനുഷ്യനിൽ കുറ്റമൊന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല” എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, I find nothing criminal in this man.
5 അതിന് അവർ, “ഇവൻ അങ്ങ് ഗലീലാപ്രവിശ്യയിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച് ഇങ്ങ് യെഹൂദ്യവരെ എല്ലായിടത്തും ജനങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ഉപദേശംകൊണ്ട് കലഹിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്” എന്നു തറപ്പിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
But they were the more violent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, even to this place.
6 ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു: “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഗലീലക്കാരനോ?”
And when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilaean.
7 യേശു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അധികാരപരിധിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ട്, അയാൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആ സമയത്തു ജെറുശലേമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന, ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കയച്ചു.
And on learning that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was himself also at Jerusalem at this time.
8 യേശുവിനെ കണ്ട് ഹെരോദാവ് അത്യധികം ആനന്ദിച്ചു, കാരണം അയാൾ വളരെക്കാലമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാണാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ, അദ്ദേഹം എന്തെങ്കിലും അത്ഭുതം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതു കാണാമെന്നു പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചു.
Now Herod, when he saw Jesus, was very glad; for he had been wishing to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him.
9 അയാൾ യേശുവിനോട് ഒട്ടേറെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ചെങ്കിലും യേശു അയാൾക്ക് യാതൊരുത്തരവും നൽകിയില്ല.
And he put many questions to him; but he gave him no answer.
10 പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും ശക്തിയുക്തം അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽ കുറ്റം ആരോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And the chief priests and scribes stood vehemently accusing him.
11 ഹെരോദാവും അയാളുടെ സൈനികരും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പുച്ഛിക്കുകയും പരിഹസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിശിഷ്ടമായ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് മടക്കി അയച്ചു.
And Herod also with his guard of soldiers set him at nought and mocked him, and having arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, sent him back to Pilate.
12 അന്ന് ഹെരോദാവും പീലാത്തോസും സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നു; അതിനുമുമ്പ് അവർ പരസ്പരം ശത്രുക്കളായിരുന്നു.
And Herod and Pilate on that day became friends with each other; for they had before been at enmity.
13 പീലാത്തോസ് പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരെയും ഭരണാധികാരികളെയും ജനങ്ങളെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, അവരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ വിധിപ്രസ്താവിച്ചു:
And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ജനങ്ങളെ കലഹത്തിനായി പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് നിങ്ങൾ ഇയാളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഇയാളെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടും ഇയാൾക്കെതിരേ നിങ്ങൾ ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന ആരോപണങ്ങൾക്ക് യാതൊരടിസ്ഥാനവും കാണാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല;
said to them, Ye have brought to me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold, I have examined him before you, and have found nothing in this man to sustain the charges which ye bring against him.
15 ഹെരോദാവിനും അതു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അദ്ദേഹം ഇയാളെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ. ഇയാൾ മരണയോഗ്യമായതൊന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.
No, nor yet Herod; for he hath sent him back to us; and lo! nothing deserving death hath been done by him.
16 അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇയാളെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ച് നാം വിട്ടയയ്ക്കും.”
I will therefore chastise, and release him.
17 പെസഹാഘോഷവേളയിൽ ജനക്കൂട്ടം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ ഭരണാധികാരി മോചിപ്പിക്കുക പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now it was necessary for him to release to them one at the feast.
18 അവർ ഒറ്റസ്വരത്തിൽ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു: “ഇവനെ നീക്കിക്കളയുക, ബറബ്ബാസിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക!”
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas;
19 (എന്നാൽ ഈ ബറബ്ബാസ് നഗരത്തിലുണ്ടായ ഒരു കലാപവും കൊലപാതകവും നിമിത്തം തടവിൽ അടയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ ആയിരുന്നു.)
who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison.
20 യേശുവിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോടു വീണ്ടും സംസാരിച്ചു.
But Pilate again spoke to them, wishing to release Jesus.
21 അവരോ, അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
But they cried out, saying, Crucify, crucify him!
22 പീലാത്തോസ് മൂന്നാമതും അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “അയാൾ എന്തു കുറ്റമാണു ചെയ്തത്? മരണശിക്ഷയ്ക്കു യോഗ്യമായതൊന്നും ഞാൻ ഇയാളിൽ കണ്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ ഇവനെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ച് വിട്ടയയ്ക്കും.”
And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil hath this man done? I have found him guilty of nothing deserving death; I will therefore chastise, and release him.
23 അവരോ, നിർബന്ധപൂർവം “യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിക്കണം,” എന്ന് ഉച്ചസ്വരത്തിൽ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവരുടെ നിലവിളി വിജയംകണ്ടു.
But they were urgent with loud voices, demanding that he should he crucified; and their voices prevailed.
24 അങ്ങനെ, അവരുടെ ആവശ്യം സാധിച്ചുകൊടുക്കാൻ പീലാത്തോസ് തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
And Pilate gave sentence that what they demanded should be done.
25 കലാപത്തിനും കൊലപാതകത്തിനും തടവുശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നവനെ അവരുടെ ആവശ്യപ്രകാരം മോചിപ്പിക്കുകയും യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിനു വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And he released him who for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 യേശുവിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോൾ, നാട്ടിൻപുറത്തുനിന്നു വരികയായിരുന്ന, കുറേനഗ്രാമവാസിയായ ശിമോൻ എന്നയാളിനെ സൈനികർ പിടിച്ച് ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പിച്ച് യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടത്തി.
And when they had led him away, they laid hold on one Simon a Cyrenaean, coming out of the country, and laid on him the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 ഒരു വലിയ ജനാവലി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിൻതുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അക്കൂട്ടത്തിൽ യേശുവിനുവേണ്ടി വിലപിക്കുകയും മുറവിളികൂട്ടുകയുംചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ത്രീകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who were bewailing and lamenting him.
28 യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞ് അവരോട്, “ജെറുശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി കരയേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങൾക്കായും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കൾക്കായും കരയുക;
But Jesus turning to them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാൽ, ‘വന്ധ്യകളും പ്രസവിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും മുലകുടിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരും സൗഭാഗ്യവതികൾ!’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.
For lo! the days are coming, in which they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave nourishment.
30 “‘അന്ന്, ജനം മലകളോട്, “ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വീഴുക” എന്നും കുന്നുകളോട് “ഞങ്ങളെ മൂടുക” എന്നും’ പറയും.
Then will they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 പച്ചമരത്തോട് മനുഷ്യർ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഉണങ്ങിയതിന് എന്തായിരിക്കും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്?”
For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?
32 കുറ്റവാളികളായ രണ്ടുപേരെക്കൂടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം വധിക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
And two others, who were malefactors, were led with him to be put to death.
33 തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം എന്നർഥമുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവിടെ അവർ യേശുവിനെ മധ്യത്തിലും കുറ്റവാളികളിൽ ഒരാളെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വലത്തും മറ്റേയാളെ ഇടത്തുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
And when they had come to the place which is called the Skull, they there crucified him, and the malefactors; one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 അപ്പോൾ യേശു, “പിതാവേ, ഇവർ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്താണെന്ന് ഇവർ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കണമേ” എന്നു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം സൈനികർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ നറുക്കിട്ട് വീതിച്ചെടുത്തു.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them! for they know not what they do. And they divided his garments, casting lots.
35 ജനങ്ങൾ ഇതെല്ലാം വീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുനിന്നു. അധികാരികൾ ആകട്ടെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “ഇവൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; ഇയാൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്രിസ്തുവെങ്കിൽ സ്വയം രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the people stood looking on; and the rulers sneered, saying, Others he saved; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, the chosen one.
36 സൈനികരും അടുത്തുവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചു. അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്,
And the soldiers also came up to him and made sport of him, offering him vinegar,
37 “നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവാണെങ്കിൽ നിന്നെത്തന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and saying, If thou art the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 ഇദ്ദേഹം യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, എന്ന ഒരു കുറ്റപത്രം ക്രൂശിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിനുമീതേ വെച്ചിരുന്നു.
There was also an inscription over him: “This is the king of the Jews.”
39 ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട കുറ്റവാളികളിൽ ഒരാൾ, “നീ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലയോ? നിന്നെത്തന്നെയും ഞങ്ങളെയും രക്ഷിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അപമാനിച്ചു.
And one of the crucified malefactors railed at him, saying, Art thou not the Christ? save thyself and us.
40 മറ്റേ കുറ്റവാളി അയാളെ ശാസിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “തുല്യശിക്ഷാവിധിയിൽ ആയിട്ടും നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?
But the other answering said, rebuking him, Dost not thou fear God, since thou art in the same condemnation?
41 നമ്മൾ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതു ന്യായമായിട്ടുതന്നെ; നമ്മുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായതല്ലേ നമുക്കു കിട്ടിയത്! ഈ മനുഷ്യനോ ഒരുതെറ്റും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 പിന്നെ അയാൾ, “യേശുവേ, അങ്ങു രാജാവായി മടങ്ങിവരുമ്പോൾ എന്നെ ഓർക്കണേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 യേശു അയാളോട്, “ഇന്നു നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പറുദീസയിൽ ആയിരിക്കും, നിശ്ചയം എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he said to him, Truly do I say to thee, Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.
44 അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം മധ്യാഹ്നം പന്ത്രണ്ടുമണി ആയിരുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ ഇരുണ്ടുപോയതുകൊണ്ട്
And it was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,
45 മൂന്നുമണിവരെ ദേശത്തെല്ലായിടത്തും ഇരുട്ടു വ്യാപിച്ചു. ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.
the sun having failed; and the veil of the temple was rent in two.
46 “പിതാവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ കരങ്ങളിൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തിരുക്കരങ്ങളിൽ ഭരമേൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് യേശു അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാണത്യാഗംചെയ്തു.
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit! And having said this, he expired.
47 സംഭവിച്ചതെല്ലാം കണ്ട് ശതാധിപൻ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തിക്കൊണ്ട്, “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ നീതിനിഷ്ഠനായിരുന്നു, നിശ്ചയം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the centurion, seeing what was done, gave glory to God, saying, Surely this was a righteous man.
48 കാണാൻ വന്നുകൂടിയവർ എല്ലാവരും സംഭവിച്ചതുകണ്ട് നെഞ്ചത്തടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തിരികെപ്പോയി.
And all the multitudes that had come together to that sight, when they had seen the things which were done, returned, beating their breasts.
49 എന്നാൽ, ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ച സ്ത്രീകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പരിചയക്കാർ എല്ലാവരും ഇവയെല്ലാം നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് ദൂരത്തുനിന്നിരുന്നു.
And all his acquaintances stood at a distance, and women that came with him from Galilee, beholding these things.
50 ന്യായാധിപസമിതിയിലെ ഒരംഗവും നല്ലവനും നീതിനിഷ്ഠനുമായ യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And lo! a man named Joseph, of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, being a councilor, and a good and righteous man,
51 അയാൾ അവരുടെ തീരുമാനത്തിനും അത് നടപ്പിലാക്കിയതിനും അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നില്ല. അയാൾ അരിമഥ്യ എന്ന യെഹൂദാപട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ളയാളും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വരവിനായി കാത്തിരുന്നയാളുമായിരുന്നു.
who was not consenting to their purpose and deed, and was waiting for the kingdom of God, —
52 അയാൾ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് യേശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം വിട്ടുതരണമെന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
53 പിന്നെ അയാൾ യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം താഴെയിറക്കി മൃദുലവസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ്, പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതും ആരെയും അതുവരെ അടക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ ഒരു കല്ലറയിൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചു.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock; wherein no one had yet lain.
54 അന്ന് ഒരുക്കനാളായിരുന്നു; ശബ്ബത്ത് ആരംഭിക്കാനുള്ള സമയവും അടുത്തിരുന്നു.
And it was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was now coming on.
55 ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് യേശുവിനോടൊപ്പം വന്ന സ്ത്രീകൾ യോസേഫിന്റെ പിന്നാലെചെന്ന്, കല്ലറയും അതിൽ മൃതദേഹം സംസ്കരിച്ച വിധവും കണ്ടു.
And the women also, who had come with him from Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.
56 തുടർന്ന് അവർ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു പോയി സുഗന്ധദ്രവ്യങ്ങളും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചു. കൽപ്പനയനുസരിച്ച് ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ അവർ വിശ്രമിച്ചു.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath they rested, according to the commandment.
