ലൂക്കോസ് 14

1 ഒരു ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ, പരീശന്മാരിൽ പ്രമുഖനായ ഒരാളുടെ വീട്ടിൽ യേശു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കാൻ ചെന്നു. അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവർ യേശുവിനെ സസൂക്ഷ്മം നിരീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And it came to pass, on His going into the house of a certain one of the chiefs of the Pharisees, on a Sabbath, to eat bread, that they were watching Him,

2 ശരീരത്തിൽ അസാധാരണമാംവിധം നീർക്കെട്ടുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുത്ത് ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു.

and behold, there was a certain dropsical man before Him;

3 യേശു പരീശന്മാരോടും നിയമജ്ഞരോടും, “ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ രോഗസൗഖ്യം നൽകുന്നതു നിയമാനുസൃതമോ അല്ലയോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

and Jesus answering spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

4 എന്നാൽ, അവർ നിശ്ശബ്ദരായിരുന്നു. യേശു അയാളെ തൊട്ടു സൗഖ്യമാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചു.

And they were silent, and having taken hold of [him], He healed him, and let [him] go;

5 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു, “നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരുടെയെങ്കിലും മകനോ കാളയോ ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ കിണറ്റിൽ വീണുപോയി എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ; അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിച്ചാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഉടനെതന്നെ അതിനെ അവിടെനിന്നു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റുകയില്ലേ?”

and answering them He said, “Of which of you will a donkey or ox fall into a pit, and he will not immediately draw it up on the Sabbath day?”

6 അവർക്കതിന് ഉത്തരമൊന്നും പറയാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

And they were not able to answer Him again to these things.

7 വിരുന്നിൽ അതിഥികൾ ബഹുമാന്യസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട് ഈ സാദൃശ്യകഥ പറഞ്ഞു:

And He spoke an allegory to those called, marking how they were choosing out the first couches, saying to them,

8 “നിന്നെ ഒരാൾ കല്യാണവിരുന്നിനു ക്ഷണിച്ചാൽ ബഹുമാന്യസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഇരിക്കരുത്; നിന്നെക്കാൾ വിശിഷ്ടനായ ഒരാളെ അയാൾ ക്ഷണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കാം.

“When you may be called by anyone to wedding feasts, you may not recline on the first couch, lest [one] more honorable than you may have been called by him,

9 അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, നിങ്ങളെ ഇരുവരെയും ക്ഷണിച്ച ആതിഥേയൻ വന്നു നിന്നോട്, ‘നിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടം ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുക’ എന്നു പറയും. അപ്പോൾ നിനക്ക് അപമാനിതനായി ഏറ്റവും അപ്രധാനമായ ഇരിപ്പിടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

and he who called you and him having come will say to you, Give to this one [your] place, and then you may begin to occupy the last place with shame.

10 എന്നാൽ, നീ ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടാൽ ഏറ്റവും ഒടുവിലത്തെ ഇരിപ്പിടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുക; നിന്റെ ആതിഥേയൻ വരുമ്പോൾ നിന്നോട്, ‘സ്നേഹിതാ, മുമ്പോട്ടുകയറി നല്ല ഇരിപ്പിടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുക’ എന്നു പറയും. അപ്പോൾ നിന്നോടൊപ്പം ഭക്ഷണത്തിനിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നീ ബഹുമാനിതനാകും.

But when you may be called, having gone on, recline in the last place, that when he who called you may come, he may say to you, Friend, come up higher; then you will have glory before those dining with you;

11 കാരണം, സ്വയം ഉയർത്തുന്നയാൾ അപമാനിതനാകും; സ്വയം താഴ്ത്തുന്നയാൾ ബഹുമാനിതനും.”

because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and he who is humbling himself will be exalted.”

12 പിന്നെ യേശു തന്റെ ആതിഥേയനോടു പറഞ്ഞത്: “നീ ഒരു ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണമോ അത്താഴമോ വിരുന്നായി നൽകുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതരെയോ സഹോദരങ്ങളെയോ ബന്ധുക്കളെയോ ധനികരായ അയൽക്കാരെയോ ക്ഷണിക്കരുത്; ക്ഷണിച്ചാൽ അവർ തിരിച്ചു നിന്നെയും ക്ഷണിക്കും, അതായിരിക്കും നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന ഏകപ്രതിഫലം.

And He also said to him who called Him, “When you may make an early meal or a dinner, do not be calling your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they may also call you again, and a repayment may come to you;

13 എന്നാൽ, നീ ഒരു വിരുന്നു നടത്തുമ്പോൾ ദരിദ്രർ, വികലാംഗർ, മുടന്തർ, അന്ധർ എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരെ ക്ഷണിക്കുക;

but when you may make a feast, be calling poor, maimed, lame, blind,

14 അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും. നിന്റെ കടം വീട്ടാൻ അവർക്കു കഴിവില്ലെങ്കിലും നീതിനിഷ്ഠരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്ന് നിനക്ക് പ്രതിഫലം ലഭിക്കും.”

and you will be blessed, because they have nothing to repay you, for it will be repaid to you in the resurrection of the righteous.”

15 യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനിരുന്നവരിൽ ഒരാൾ ഇതു കേട്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിലെ വിരുന്നിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നയാൾ എത്ര അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And one of those dining with Him, having heard these things, said to Him, “Blessed [is] he who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God”;

16 യേശു അതിനു മറുപടിയായി പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വലിയൊരു വിരുന്നൊരുക്കി, ആ വിരുന്നിന് അയാൾ അനേകരെ ക്ഷണിച്ചിരുന്നു.

and He said to him, “A certain man made a great dinner, and called many,

17 അയാൾ വിരുന്നിന്റെ സമയമായപ്പോൾ ‘വരിക, എല്ലാം തയ്യാറായിരിക്കുന്നു,’ എന്നു ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരെ അറിയിക്കാൻ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനെ അയച്ചു.

and he sent his servant at the hour of the dinner to say to those having been called, Be coming, because now all things are ready.

18 “എന്നാൽ, ക്ഷണിതാക്കൾ എല്ലാവരും ഒരുപോലെ ഒഴിവുകഴിവുകൾ പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി. ഒരാൾ പറഞ്ഞു, ‘ഞാനൊരു വയൽ വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അത് ചെന്നു കാണേണ്ട ആവശ്യമുണ്ട്; ദയവുചെയ്ത് എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിക്കണം.’

And all began with one [voice] to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I bought a field, and I have need to go forth and see it; I beg of you, have me excused.

19 “മറ്റൊരാൾ പറഞ്ഞു: ‘ഞാൻ അഞ്ചു ജോടി കാളകളെ വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എനിക്ക് അവയെ പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്; ദയവുചെയ്ത് എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിക്കണം.’

And another said, I bought five yoke of oxen, and I go on to prove them; I beg of you, have me excused.

20 “വേറൊരാൾ, ‘ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ വിവാഹിതനായിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്കു വരാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And another said, I married a wife, and because of this I am not able to come.

21 “ആ ഭൃത്യൻ മടങ്ങിവന്ന് ഈ പ്രതികരണങ്ങൾ അയാളുടെ യജമാനനെ അറിയിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ വീട്ടുടമസ്ഥൻ കോപാകുലനായി, ഭൃത്യനോട്, ‘നീ ഉടനെ പോയി തെരുവുകളിലും പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഇടവഴികളിലും ചെന്ന് ദരിദ്രരെയും വികലാംഗരെയും അന്ധരെയും മുടന്തരെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And that servant having come, told these things to his lord, then the master of the house, having been angry, said to his servant, Go forth quickly into the broad places and lanes of the city, and the poor, and maimed, and lame, and blind, bring in here.

22 “ആ ഭൃത്യൻ തിരികെവന്ന്, ‘യജമാനനേ, അങ്ങു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ, ഇനിയും സ്ഥലമുണ്ട്’ എന്നറിയിച്ചു.

And the servant said, Lord, it has been done as you commanded, and still there is room.

23 “അപ്പോൾ ആ യജമാനൻ ഭൃത്യനോട്, ‘നീ വീഥികളിലും തെരുക്കോണുകളിലും ചെന്ന് ആളുകളെ നിർബന്ധിച്ച് അകത്തേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക; അങ്ങനെ എന്റെ വീട് നിറയട്ടെ.

And the lord said to the servant, Go forth into the ways and hedges, and constrain to come in, that my house may be filled;

24 ഞാൻ ആദ്യം ക്ഷണിച്ചവരിൽ ആരുംതന്നെ എന്റെ വിരുന്ന് ആസ്വദിക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.’”

for I say to you that none of those men who have been called will taste of my dinner.”

25 ഒരു വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടം യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്നു. യേശു അവർക്കുനേരേ തിരിഞ്ഞ് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞത്:

And there were going on with Him great multitudes, and having turned, He said to them,

26 “ഒരാൾ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരികയും തന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെക്കാളും ഭാര്യയെക്കാളും മക്കളെക്കാളും സഹോദരന്മാരെക്കാളും സഹോദരിമാരെക്കാളും സ്വന്തം ജീവനെക്കാളും എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ അയാൾക്ക് എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിക്കാൻ സാധ്യമല്ല.

“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yet even his own life, he is not able to be My disciple;

27 സ്വന്തം ക്രൂശ് വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കാത്തവർക്കും എന്റെ ശിഷ്യരായിരിക്കാൻ സാധ്യമല്ല.

and whoever does not carry his cross, and come after Me, is not able to be My disciple.

28 “നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാൾ ഒരു ഗോപുരം പണിയാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ. അയാൾ ആദ്യംതന്നെ ഇരുന്ന്, അതു പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ വേണ്ടുന്ന പണം ഉണ്ടോയെന്നു കണക്കുകൂട്ടുകയില്ലേ?

For who of you, willing to build a tower, does not first, having sat down, count the expense, whether he has the things for completing?

29 അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം, അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടിട്ട് അയാൾക്ക് അതു പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ കഴിയാതെപോയാൽ അതു കാണുന്നവരെല്ലാവരും,

Lest that he having laid a foundation, and not being able to finish, all who are beholding may begin to mock him,

30 ‘ഇയാൾ ഗോപുരം പണിയാൻ തുടങ്ങി; പക്ഷേ, പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ കഴിവില്ലാതെപോയി’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പരിഹസിക്കും.

saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

31 “ഒരു രാജാവു മറ്റൊരു രാജാവിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ പോകുന്നെന്നു സങ്കൽപ്പിക്കുക. അയാൾ ആദ്യം ഇരുന്ന്, തനിക്കുനേരേ 20,000 ഭടന്മാരുടെ സൈന്യവുമായി വരുന്ന രാജാവിനോട് യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ തന്റെ 10,000 ഭടന്മാരുടെ സൈന്യത്തിന് സാധ്യമാകുമോ എന്ന് ആദ്യംതന്നെ ആലോചിക്കുകയില്ലേ?

Or what king going on to engage with another king in war, does not, having sat down, first consult if he with ten thousand is able to meet him who is coming against him with twenty thousand?

32 അതിനു കഴിവില്ലെങ്കിൽ, ശത്രുരാജാവ് വളരെ ദൂരെയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ഒരു പ്രതിനിധിസംഘത്തെ അയച്ച് സമാധാനവ്യവസ്ഥകൾക്കായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

And if not so—he being yet a long way off—having sent a delegation, he asks the things for peace.

33 അതുപോലെതന്നെ, നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാൾ തനിക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ തയ്യാറാകുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവർക്ക് എന്റെ ശിഷ്യരായിരിക്കാൻ സാധ്യമല്ല.

So, then, everyone of you who does not take leave of all that he himself has, is not able to be My disciple.

34 “ഉപ്പു നല്ലതുതന്നെ; എന്നാൽ അത് ഉപ്പുരസം ഇല്ലാത്തതായാൽ അതിന്റെ ഉപ്പുരസം എങ്ങനെ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയും?

The salt [is] good, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?

35 അതു മണ്ണിനോ വളത്തിനോ അനുയോജ്യമല്ലാത്തതാകുകയാൽ; മനുഷ്യർ അതിനെ പുറത്തേക്കു വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞുകളയും. “ചെവിയുള്ളവരെല്ലാം കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ.”

It is neither fit for land nor for manure—they cast it outside. He who is having ears to hear—let him hear.”
