ലൂക്കോസ് 1
1 ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, നമ്മുടെ മധ്യേ നിറവേറ്റപ്പെട്ട വസ്തുതകൾ—പ്രാരംഭംമുതൽതന്നെ ദൃക്‌സാക്ഷികളും തിരുവചനത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരും ആയിരുന്നവർ നമുക്കു കൈമാറിത്തന്നിട്ടുള്ളതുപോലെ—ക്രോഡീകരിക്കുന്നതിന് പലരും പരിശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Given that many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those things that really did take place among us,
just as those who became eyewitnesses, from the beginning, and ministers of the Word delivered them to us,
3 ആരംഭംമുതലുള്ള എല്ലാ വസ്തുതകളും ഞാൻ സസൂക്ഷ്മം പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതുകൊണ്ട്, ക്രമീകൃതമായ ഒരു വിവരണം താങ്കൾക്കുവേണ്ടി എഴുതുന്നത് നല്ലതെന്നു തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
it seemed good to me also, most excellent Theophilus, having taken careful note of everything from Above, to write to you with precision and in sequence,
4 അങ്ങനെ, പഠിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ നിജസ്ഥിതി താങ്കൾക്ക് ബോധ്യപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും.
so that you may know the certainty of the things in which you were instructed.
5 യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ ഭരണകാലത്ത്, അബീയാവിന്റെ പൗരോഹിത്യവിഭാഗത്തിൽ, സെഖര്യാവ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു പുരോഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബത്തും അഹരോന്യവംശജയായിരുന്നു.
In the days of Herod, the king of Judea, there was a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron and her name was Elizabeth.
6 അവരിരുവരും ദൈവത്തിനുമുമ്പാകെ നീതിനിഷ്ഠരും കർത്താവിന്റെ ഉത്തരവുകളും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും അനുവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിൽ കുറ്റമറ്റവരുമായിരുന്നു.
They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
7 എലിസബത്ത് വന്ധ്യയായിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവർക്ക് മക്കളുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അവരിരുവരും വയോധികരുമായിരുന്നു.
But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren; and they both were well advanced in years.
8 ഒരിക്കൽ സെഖര്യാവുൾപ്പെട്ട വിഭാഗം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പൗരോഹിത്യശുശ്രൂഷ നിർവഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ,
Now it happened, as he was officiating as priest before God in the order of his division,
9 കർത്താവിന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ധൂപം അർപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് പൗരോഹിത്യാചാരപ്രകാരമുള്ള നറുക്കെടുപ്പിലൂടെ അദ്ദേഹം നിയുക്തനായി.
according to the custom of the priesthood, that his lot was to burn incense, upon entering the sanctuary of the Lord;
10 ധൂപം അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്ന ജനാവലി ആലയത്തിനുപുറത്ത് പ്രാർഥിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
and the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.
11 അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവിന്റെ ഒരു ദൂതൻ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ വലതുഭാഗത്തു നിൽക്കുന്നതായി സെഖര്യാവിന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense;
12 ദൂതനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം ഭയചകിതനായി, നടുങ്ങി.
and upon seeing him Zacharias was shaken, and a fear fell upon him.
13 അപ്പോൾ ദൂതൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “സെഖര്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട, ദൈവം നിന്റെ പ്രാർഥന കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബത്ത് നിനക്ക് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും, നീ അവന് യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു നാമകരണം ചെയ്യണം.
But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, because your prayer was heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
14 അയാൾ നിനക്ക് ആനന്ദവും ആഹ്ലാദവും ആയിരിക്കും. അവന്റെ ജനനത്തിൽ അനേകർ ആനന്ദിക്കും.
And you will have joy and exultation, and many will rejoice over his birth.
15 കർത്താവിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ അവൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ ആയിരിക്കും. വീഞ്ഞോ ഇതര ലഹരിപാനീയങ്ങളോ അവൻ ഒരിക്കലും പാനം ചെയ്യരുത്. തന്റെ ജനനത്തിന് മുമ്പുതന്നെ അവൻ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിൽ ആയിരിക്കും.
For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; he must not drink either wine or strong drink; indeed, he will be filled with Holy Spirit already from his mother's womb.
16 ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തിൽ അനേകരെ അവൻ തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവിലേക്ക് മടക്കിവരുത്തും.
And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God;
17 പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയം മക്കളിലേക്കും അനുസരണകെട്ടവരെ നീതിനിഷ്ഠരുടെ വിവേകത്തിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജനത്തെ സജ്ജമാക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി അയാൾ ഏലിയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവിലും ശക്തിയിലും കർത്താവിനുമുമ്പായി പോകും.”
in fact he himself will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of fathers to children’ and the disobedient to the mindset of the righteous, to prepare a people made ready for the Lord.”
18 സെഖര്യാവ് ദൂതനോട്, “ഇതെങ്ങനെ ഉറപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിയും? ഞാൻ വൃദ്ധനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യ വയോധികയുമാണല്ലോ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But Zacharias said to the angel: “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”
19 അതിനു ദൂതൻ, “ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രീയേലാണ് ഞാൻ, നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കാനും ഈ സുവാർത്ത നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാനും ദൈവം എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
So in answer the angel said to him: “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God; I was sent to speak to you and bring you this good news.
20 നിർദിഷ്ടസമയത്ത് നിറവേറാനിരിക്കുന്ന, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ഇത് യാഥാർഥ്യമാകുന്ന ദിവസംവരെ നീ സംസാരിക്കാനാകാതെ ഊമയായിരിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Now look, you will be silent and not able to speak until the day in which these things happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”
21 ഈ സമയം സെഖര്യാവിനെ കാത്തിരുന്ന ജനം അദ്ദേഹം ദൈവാലയത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുവരാൻ ഇത്രയേറെ താമസിച്ചതിൽ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
Now the people were waiting for Zacharias and wondering at his delay in the sanctuary.
22 പുറത്തുവന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അവരോടു സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. സംസാരിക്കാനാകാതെ ആംഗ്യം കാണിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നതിൽനിന്ന്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ദൈവാലയത്തിൽവെച്ച് ഒരു ദർശനമുണ്ടായെന്ന് അവർ മനസ്സിലാക്കി.
But when he came out he was unable to speak to them, and they understood that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary—he kept gesturing to them while remaining mute.
23 അദ്ദേഹം പൗരോഹിത്യശുശ്രൂഷയ്ക്കു നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ട ദിവസങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിട്ട് ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി.
And so, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he took off for home.
24 ഈ സംഭവത്തിനുശേഷം, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബത്ത് ഗർഭവതിയായി; അവൾ അഞ്ചുമാസം ഭവനത്തിനു പുറത്തിറങ്ങാതെ താമസിച്ചു.
Well after those days his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and stayed in seclusion five months. She kept saying,
25 “കർത്താവ് എനിക്കു നന്മ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. ജനമധ്യേ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കിക്കളയാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ അവിടന്ന് പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
“So that's what the Lord has done for me in the days when He concerned Himself to take away my reproach among the people!”
26 എലിസബത്തിന്റെ ഗർഭധാരണത്തിന്റെ ആറാംമാസത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേൽ ദൂതനെ ഗലീലാപ്രവിശ്യയിലെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ നസറെത്തിൽ,
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee named Natsareth,
27 ദാവീദുവംശജനായ യോസേഫ് എന്ന പുരുഷനു വിവാഹനിശ്ചയം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ഒരു കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു. ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേര് മറിയ എന്നായിരുന്നു.
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; the virgin's name was Mary.
28 ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്, “കൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കർത്താവ് നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ട്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
So upon entering where she was the angel said, “Rejoice, recipient of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
29 ദൂതന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് മറിയ അന്തംവിട്ടുനിന്നു; ഇത് എന്തൊരു അഭിവാദനം എന്ന് അവൾ ചിന്തിച്ചു.
But upon seeing him she was perplexed at his word and was trying to figure out what sort of greeting it might be.
30 എന്നാൽ ദൂതൻ അവളോട്, “മറിയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
The angel said to her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, because you have found favor with God.
31 നീ ഗർഭവതിയായി ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും. നീ ആ ശിശുവിന് യേശു എന്നു നാമകരണം ചെയ്യണം.
Now then, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS.
32 അവിടന്ന് മഹാനാകും; പരമോന്നതന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. അവിടത്തെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം കർത്താവായ ദൈവം അവിടത്തേക്ക് നൽകും.
He will be great, and will be called ‘Son of the Most High’; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33 അവിടന്ന് യാക്കോബ് വംശത്തിന് എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവിടത്തെ രാജ്യത്തിന് ഒരിക്കലും അവസാനമുണ്ടാകുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. (aiōn g165)
and He will reign over the house of Jacob into the ages; indeed, of His kingdom there will be no end!” (aiōn g165)
34 അപ്പോൾ മറിയ ദൂതനോട്, “ഇതെങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും? ഞാനൊരു കന്യകയാണല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
So Mary said to the angel, “How shall this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 അതിന് ദൂതൻ, “പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് നിന്റെമേൽ വരും; പരമോന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്മേൽ ആവസിക്കും. അതുകൊണ്ട് ജനിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധശിശു ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
In answer the angel said to her: “Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will hover over you; precisely for this reason the holy One who is to be born will be called ‘Son of God’!
36 നിന്റെ ബന്ധുവായ എലിസബത്ത് അവളുടെ വാർധക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു പുത്രന് ജന്മം നൽകാൻപോകുന്നു; വന്ധ്യയെന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നവൾക്ക് ഇത് ആറാംമാസം.
Furthermore, your relative Elizabeth, she has actually conceived a son in her old age and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren;
37 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുകളൊന്നും അസാധ്യമാകുകയില്ലല്ലോ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
because any word spoken by God will be possible.”
38 “ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കർത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ എനിക്കു സംഭവിക്കട്ടെ” മറിയ പ്രതിവചിച്ചു. ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
So Mary said: “Yes, I am the Lord's slave! Let it happen to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
39 ചില ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം മറിയ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് യെഹൂദ്യപ്രവിശ്യയിലെ മലനിരയിലുള്ള ഒരു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു തിടുക്കത്തിൽ യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു.
Then Mary quickly got ready and went into the hill country in those days, to a town of Judah,
40 അവിടെ അവൾ സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ചെന്നു. അവൾ എലിസബത്തിനെ വന്ദിച്ചു.
and entered the house of Zacharias and saluted Elizabeth.
41 മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലിസബത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഗർഭസ്ഥശിശു അവളുടെ ഉദരത്തിൽ തുള്ളിച്ചാടി; എലിസബത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലായി,
Well it happened that as Elizabeth heard Mary's salutation the babe bounced up and down in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with Holy Spirit.
42 ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞത്: “നീ സ്ത്രീകളിൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ; നിനക്കു ജനിക്കുന്ന ശിശുവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ!
And she cried out with a great voice and said: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the Fruit of your womb!
43 എന്റെ കർത്താവിന്റെ മാതാവ് എന്നെ സന്ദർശിക്കാൻ തക്ക കൃപ എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ചത് എങ്ങനെ?
Why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 നിന്റെ വന്ദനവചസ്സുകൾ എന്റെ കാതുകളിൽ പതിച്ചമാത്രയിൽത്തന്നെ ശിശു എന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിച്ചു തുള്ളിച്ചാടി.
Yes indeed, because as the sound of your salutation came into my ears the babe bounced up and down in my womb for joy.
45 കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത് നിറവേറുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിച്ച നീ അനുഗൃഹീത!”
Blessed is she who believed, because there will be a fulfillment of the things that have been spoken to her from the Lord.”
46 ഇതിന് മറിയ പ്രതിവചിച്ചത്: “എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കർത്താവിനെ പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു;
So Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 എന്റെ ആത്മാവ് എന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.
and my spirit has exulted over God my Savior,
48 അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ ദൈന്യത്തെ പരിഗണിച്ചല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോൾമുതൽ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.
in that He paid attention to the humble station of His slave (f). Yes indeed, because from now on all generations will declare me to be highly favored,
49 സർവശക്തൻ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി വലിയ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; പരിശുദ്ധമല്ലോ അവിടത്തെ നാമം.
in that the Mighty One did sublime things for me, and Holy is His name.
50 അവിടത്തെ ഭക്തർക്ക് കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറവരെ നിലനിൽക്കും.
His mercy is for generations of generations to those fearing Him.
51 തന്റെ ഭുജത്താൽ അവിടന്നു വൻകാര്യങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അന്തരംഗങ്ങളിൽ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ അവിടന്നു ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has dispersed the arrogant in the reasoning of their hearts.
52 അധിപതികളെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ഇറക്കി, നമ്രഹൃദയരെ ഉയർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
He has dethroned rulers and exalted the lowly.
53 വിശപ്പുള്ളവരെ നന്മകളാൽ നിറച്ചും ധനികരെ വെറുംകൈയോടെ അയച്ചും;
He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.
54 അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അനന്തരാവകാശികളോടും അനന്തമായി കരുണ കാണിക്കുമെന്ന വാഗ്ദാനം വിസ്മരിക്കാതെ, അവിടന്ന് നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികരോട് വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതുപോലെതന്നെ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ഇസ്രായേലിനെ സഹായിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു!” (aiōn g165)
He has taken the part of His servant Israel, in remembrance of mercy,
56 മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നുമാസം എലിസബത്തിനോടുകൂടെ താമസിച്ചതിനുശേഷം സ്വഭവനത്തിലേക്കു തിരികെപ്പോയി.
So Mary stayed with her about three months, and returned to her house.
57 പ്രസവകാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ എലിസബത്ത് ഒരു മകനു ജന്മംനൽകി.
Now the time for Elizabeth to give birth was completed and she bore a son.
58 കർത്താവ് അവളോടു മഹാകരുണ കാണിച്ചെന്നു കേട്ട് അവളുടെ അയൽക്കാരും ബന്ധുക്കളും അവളുടെ ആനന്ദത്തിൽ പങ്കുചേർന്നു.
Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had used His great mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 എട്ടാംദിവസം ശിശുവിനെ പരിച്ഛേദനകർമം ചെയ്യിക്കുന്നതിനായി അവർ ഒത്തുചേർന്നു; അവർ ശിശുവിന് പിതാവിന്റെ പേരുപോലെതന്നെ സെഖര്യാവ് എന്നു നാമകരണംചെയ്യാൻ തുനിഞ്ഞു.
So it was, on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child, and they started calling him by the name of his father, Zacharias.
60 എന്നാൽ ശിശുവിന്റെ അമ്മ “അങ്ങനെയല്ല, അവനെ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നാണ് വിളിക്കേണ്ടത്,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
His mother reacted and said, “Absolutely not; he shall be called John!”
61 വന്നുകൂടിയവർ അതിന് “ഈ പേരുള്ള ആരുംതന്നെ നിന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഇല്ലല്ലോ,” എന്ന് എലിസബത്തിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
So they said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”
62 അവർ പിന്നെ, ശിശുവിന്റെ പിതാവിനോട് അവന് എന്തു പേരിടാനാണ് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് ആംഗ്യംകാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.
So they started motioning to his father, as to what he would have him called.
63 സെഖര്യാവ് ഒരു എഴുത്തുപലക ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. “അവന്റെ പേര് യോഹന്നാൻ,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും വിസ്മയിച്ചു.
Asking for a writing tablet he wrote this: “His name is to be John!” They all marveled.
64 പെട്ടെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നു; നാവിന്റെ കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞു, ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സംസാരിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue freed and he started to speak, blessing God.
65 ഈ സംഭവം അയൽവാസികളിൽ ഭയമുളവാക്കി. യെഹൂദ്യപ്രവിശ്യയിലെ മലനാടുകളിലെല്ലാം ഇതൊരു ചർച്ചാവിഷയമായി.
(Well a fear came on all who lived around them; and all these sayings kept being talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
66 കേട്ടവർ കേട്ടവർ അതേപ്പറ്റി അത്ഭുതപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട്, “ഈ ശിശു ആരാകും?” എന്നു പരസ്പരം ചോദിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. കർത്താവിന്റെ കരം യോഹന്നാനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
All who heard kept them in their hearts saying, “What then will this child be?” And the hand of the Lord was with him.)
67 യോഹന്നാന്റെ പിതാവായ സെഖര്യാവ് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലായി ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രവചിച്ചു:
Now his father Zacharias was filled with Holy Spirit and prophesied saying:
68 “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവ് വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ; അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദർശിച്ച് വിമുക്തരാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and provided redemption for His people;
and has raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of His servant David
70 തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദുരാജാവിന്റെ വംശത്തിൽനിന്നുതന്നെ; സർവശക്തനായ ഒരു രക്ഷകനെ നമുക്കായി അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
—just as He spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from antiquity— (aiōn g165)
71 ഇത് നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളിൽനിന്നും നമ്മെ വെറുക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരുടെയും കൈയിൽനിന്നും നമ്മെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിനും
deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us;
72 നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികരോടു കരുണ കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിനും
to use mercy with our fathers, even to remember His Holy covenant,
73 നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ശപഥംചെയ്ത വിശുദ്ധ ഉടമ്പടി ഓർക്കേണ്ടതിനും
the oath that He swore to our father Abraham;
74 ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് നമ്മെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കേണ്ടതിനും
to grant to us (having been rescued from the hand of our enemies) to serve Him without fear,
75 തിരുസന്നിധിയിൽ വിശുദ്ധിയോടും നീതിനിഷ്ഠയോടുംകൂടെ നമ്മുടെ ആയുസ്സുമുഴുവനും ഭയംകൂടാതെ നാം അവിടത്തെ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിനുംകൂടിയാണ്!
in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
76 “നീയോ എന്റെ മകനേ, പരമോന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി വഴിയൊരുക്കാൻ, നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കരുണാതിരേകത്താൽ തന്റെ ജനത്തിനു പാപമോചനത്തിലൂടെ രക്ഷയുടെ പരിജ്ഞാനം നൽകാൻ, നീ കർത്താവിനുമുമ്പായി നടക്കും.
And you, child, will be called Prophet of the Most High, because you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
to give a knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins,
78 അന്ധതമസ്സിലും മരണനിഴലിലും കഴിയുന്നവരുടെമേൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നതിനും നമ്മുടെ കാലുകളെ സമാധാനപാതയിൽ നയിക്കുന്നതിനും
through the merciful compassions of our God, with which the divine Dawn has contemplated us,
79 അവിടത്തെ കരുണാധിക്യത്താൽ, ഉദയസൂര്യൻ സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് നമ്മെ സന്ദർശിക്കും.”
to give light to those who are sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
80 ശിശുവായ യോഹന്നാൻ വളർന്നു, ആത്മാവിൽ ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടു: ഇസ്രായേലിലെ തന്റെ പരസ്യശുശ്രൂഷ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതുവരെ അദ്ദേഹം മരുഭൂമിയിൽ താമസിച്ചു.
So the child kept growing and being strengthened in spirit, and he stayed in uninhabited areas until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
