ലേവ്യപുസ്തകം 19

1 യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു:

And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:

2 “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ സർവസഭയോടും സംസാരിക്കണം. അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ, യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധൻ ആകുകയാൽ നിങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധർ ആയിരിക്കുക.

Speak unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel and thou shalt say unto them—Holy, shall ye be, —For holy, am I—Yahweh—your God

3 “‘നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തരും നിങ്ങളുടെ മാതാവിനെയും പിതാവിനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കണം; എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകൾ ആചരിക്കണം. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Ye shall, every one, revere, his father and his mother, And my sabbaths, shall ye observe, —I—Yahweh, am your God.

4 “‘വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിയുകയോ നിങ്ങൾക്കായി ദേവന്മാരെ വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Do not turn unto things of nought, And, molten gods, shall ye not make to yourselves, —I—Yahweh, am your God.

5 “‘നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു സമാധാനയാഗം അർപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു പ്രസാദം ലഭിക്കുമാറ് അർപ്പിക്കണം.

And when ye would offer a peace-offering unto Yahweh, ye shall offer it that ye may be accepted.

6 അതു നിങ്ങൾ യാഗമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദിവസംതന്നെയോ അടുത്ത ദിവസമോ ഭക്ഷിക്കണം; മൂന്നാംദിവസത്തേക്കു ശേഷിക്കുന്നതു തീയിലിട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളയണം.

On the day, ye offer it, shall it be eaten, and on the morrow, —but, that which remaineth until the third day, in fire, shall be consumed.

7 അതിലെന്തെങ്കിലും മൂന്നാംദിവസം ഭക്ഷിച്ചാൽ അത് അശുദ്ധമാണ്, അതു പ്രസാദമാകുകയില്ല.

And, if it, be eaten, on the third day, unclean, it is it shall not be accepted,

8 അതു ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കും. അവർ യഹോവയ്ക്കു വിശുദ്ധമായതിനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കിയല്ലോ; അവരെ അവരുടെ ജനത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഛേദിച്ചുകളയണം.

But he that eateth it, his iniquity, shall bear, because that which had been hallowed unto Yahweh, hath he profaned, —so then that person shall be cut off from among his kinsfolk.

9 “‘നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ വയലിലെ വിള കൊയ്യുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ വയലിന്റെ അരികുചേർത്തു കൊയ്യുകയോ കൊയ്തതിന്റെ കാലാപെറുക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്.

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly clear the border of thy field, in reaping, —nor shalt thou gather up the gleaning of thy harvest.

10 നിങ്ങളുടെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിൽ വീണ്ടും പോകുകയോ വീണുപോയ മുന്തിരി പെറുക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. അവ ദരിദ്രനും പ്രവാസിക്കുമായി വിട്ടേക്കണം. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

And, thy vineyard, shalt thou not go over again, nor gather, every single grape: for the poor and for the sojourner, shalt thou leave them, I—Yahweh, am your God.

11 “‘മോഷ്ടിക്കരുത്. “‘കള്ളം പറയരുത്. “‘പരസ്പരം വഞ്ചിക്കരുത്.

Ye shall not steal, —nor deceive nor lie one man to another;

12 “‘എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ കള്ളസത്യം ചെയ്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമം നിന്ദിക്കരുത്. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Nor swear by my name falsely, —And so profane the name of thy God: I, am Yahweh.

13 “‘നിങ്ങളുടെ അയൽക്കാരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയോ വസ്തു കവർച്ചചെയ്യുകയോ അരുത്. “‘കൂലിക്കാരന്റെ ശമ്പളം പിറ്റേന്നു രാവിലെവരെ പിടിച്ചുവെക്കരുത്.

Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbour nor rob [him], —The wages of him that is hired shall not tarry with thee, until the morning.

14 “‘ചെകിടനെ ശപിക്കുകയോ അന്ധന്റെ മുന്നിൽ ഇടർച്ചക്കല്ലു വെക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടണം; ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Thou shalt not curse the deaf, Nor, before the blind, place a stumbling-block, —So shalt thou stand in awe of thy God I, am Yahweh.

15 “‘ന്യായം അട്ടിമറിക്കരുത്; ദരിദ്രരോടു പക്ഷഭേദമോ വലിയവരോട് ആഭിമുഖ്യമോ കാണിക്കാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അയൽവാസിയെ നീതിപൂർവം വിധിക്കണം.

Ye shall not act perversely in giving judgment, Thou shalt neither respect the person of the poor, Nor prefer the person of the great, —In righteousness, shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

16 “‘നിങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തിനിടയിൽ അപവാദം പരത്തരുത്. “‘നിങ്ങളുടെ അയൽവാസിയുടെ ജീവന് അപകടം ഭവിക്കത്തക്കതൊന്നും ചെയ്യരുത്. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Thou shalt not go about talebearing, among thy people Thou shalt not stand by, over the blood of thy neighbour: I, am Yahweh.

17 “‘നിന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വെറുക്കരുത്. അവരുടെ കുറ്റത്തിൽ പങ്കാളിയാകാതിരിക്കാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങളെ നിർവ്യാജം ശാസിക്കുക.

Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart, —Thou shalt, faithfully reprove, thy neighbour, and not countenance him in sin:

18 “‘നിന്റെ ജനത്തിലാർക്കെങ്കിലും വിരോധമായി പ്രതികാരം അന്വേഷിക്കുകയോ പകവെക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. എന്നാൽ, നീ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിയെയും സ്നേഹിക്കണം. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Thou shalt not take vengeance neither shalt thou cherish anger against the sons of thy people, So shalt thou love thy neighbour as thyself, —I, am Yahweh.

19 “‘എന്റെ ഉത്തരവുകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുക. “‘രണ്ടുതരം മൃഗങ്ങളെത്തമ്മിൽ ഇണചേർക്കരുത്. “‘രണ്ടുതരം വിത്തു നിന്റെ നിലത്തിൽ വിതയ്ക്കരുത്. “‘രണ്ടുതരം വസ്തുക്കൾ ചേർത്തു നെയ്ത വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കരുത്.

My statutes, shall ye observe, Thy beasts, shalt thou not cause to breed in two kinds, Thy field, shalt thou not sow with two sorts of seed, —And a garment woven of diverse threads, shalt thou not suffer to come upon thee.

20 “‘മറ്റൊരു പുരുഷനു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടവളും എന്നാൽ, വീണ്ടെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവളും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം നൽകപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവളുമായ ഒരടിമസ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ ഒരാൾ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ടാൽ, അവരെ ന്യായമായി ശിക്ഷിക്കണം. എന്നാൽ, അവരെ മരണത്തിന് ഏൽപിക്കരുത്, കാരണം അവൾ സ്വതന്ത്രയായിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, she being a bondmaid, acquired for a husband, and neither, redeemed, nor, freedom, given her, inquisition, shall be made they shall not be put to death, because she was not free;

21 എങ്കിലും ആ പുരുഷൻ സമാഗമകൂടാരവാതിലിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അകൃത്യയാഗത്തിനായി ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെ കൊണ്ടുവരണം.

but he shall bring in his guilt-bearer unto Yahweh, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —even a ram as a guilt-bearer;

22 അകൃത്യയാഗത്തിന്റെ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെക്കൊണ്ട് അവൻ ചെയ്ത പാപത്തിനു പുരോഹിതൻ അവനുവേണ്ടി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ പാപപരിഹാരംചെയ്യണം; അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ പാപം ക്ഷമിക്കപ്പെടും.

and the priest shall put a propitiatory-covering over him with the guilt-bearing ram before Yahweh, on account of his sin which he hath committed, —so shall he have forgiveness, from his sin which he hath committed.

23 “‘നിങ്ങൾ കനാൻദേശത്തുവന്ന് ഏതെങ്കിലും ഇനം ഫലവൃക്ഷം നടുമ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ ഫലം വിലക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി കരുതണം. മൂന്നുവർഷം അതു വിലക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി നിങ്ങൾ കരുതണം, അതു ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്.

And when ye come into the land, and plant any manner of fruit-tree, then shall ye count as uncircumcised the fruit thereof, three years, shall it be to you as if unclean, it shall not be eaten.

24 നാലാംവർഷം അതിന്റെ ഫലമെല്ലാം യഹോവയ്ക്കു സ്തോത്രാർപ്പണത്തിനായി വിശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും.

But, in the fourth year, all the fruit thereof shall be hallowed for a festival of thanksgiving unto Yahweh.

25 എന്നാൽ അഞ്ചാംവർഷം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അതിന്റെ ഫലം ഭക്ഷിക്കാം. അങ്ങനെ അതിന്റെ അനുഭവം നിങ്ങൾക്കു വർധിച്ചുവരും. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

And in the fifth year, shall ye eat the fruit thereof, that it may enrich you with its increase, —I—Yahweh, am your God.

26 “‘രക്തത്തോടുകൂടി മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്. “‘ദേവപ്രശ്നംവെക്കുകയോ ശകുനംനോക്കുകയോ അരുത്.

Ye shall eat nothing with the blood thereof, —Ye shall not practise divination neither shall ye use magic.

27 “‘നിങ്ങളുടെ തലയുടെ അരികു വടിക്കുകയോ താടിയുടെ അറ്റം മുറിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്.

Ye shall not shave in a circle around your head, —nor shalt thou disfigure the fringe of thy beard.

28 “‘മരിച്ചവർക്കുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരം മുറിപ്പെടുത്തുകയോ നിങ്ങളുടെമേൽ പച്ച കുത്തുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Cuttings for a dead person, shall ye not make in your flesh. And punctures in your persons, shall ye not print, —I, am Yahweh.

29 “‘ദേശം വേശ്യാവൃത്തിയിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു ദുഷ്ടതകൊണ്ടു നിറയാതിരിക്കാൻ, നിന്റെ മകളെ വേശ്യാവൃത്തിക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കരുത്.

Do not profane thy daughter by causing her to be unchaste, —lest the land fall to unchastity, and so the land be filled with wickedness.

30 “‘എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുകയും എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തോടു ഭയഭക്തിയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കുകയും വേണം. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

My sabbaths, shall ye observe, And my sanctuary, shall ye revere, —I, am Yahweh.

31 “‘വെളിച്ചപ്പാടുകളെയോ ഭൂതസേവക്കാരെയോ അന്വേഷിക്കരുത്. കാരണം അവരാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അശുദ്ധരായിത്തീരും. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Do not turn unto mediums, Nor, for oracles, make search, To render yourselves unclean with them, I—Yahweh, am your God.

32 “‘വൃദ്ധരുടെമുമ്പാകെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുക, നരച്ചവനോടു ബഹുമാനം കാണിക്കുക. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയത്തോടെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുക. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

Before a hoary head, shalt thou rise up, And shalt honour the presence of an elder, —So shalt thou stand in awe of thy God—I, am Yahweh.

33 “‘ഒരു പ്രവാസി നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തു പാർക്കുമ്പോൾ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ചൂഷണംചെയ്യരുത്.

And, when there sojourneth with thee a sojourner in your land, ye shall not oppress him:

34 നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കുന്ന പ്രവാസിയോട് ഒരു സ്വദേശിയോടെന്നപോലെ ഇടപെടുക; അയാളെ നിങ്ങളെപ്പോലെതന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുക. നിങ്ങൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ പ്രവാസികളായിരുന്നല്ലോ. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

As one home born from among yourselves, shall be unto you the sojourner who sojourneth with you, So shalt thou love him as thyself, For, sojourners, became ye, in the land of Egypt, —I—Yahweh, am your God.

35 “‘നീളത്തിലും അളവിലും തൂക്കത്തിലും വഞ്ചന കാണിക്കരുത്.

Ye shall not act perversely in giving judgment, —in measures of extent, in weights in measures of capacity:

36 കൃത്യമായ മുഴക്കോലും കൃത്യമായ തുലാസും കൃത്യമായ ഏഫായും കൃത്യമായ ഹീനും ഉപയോഗിക്കുക. നിങ്ങളെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു.

Just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin, shall ye have, —I—Yahweh, am your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt.

37 “‘എന്റെ സകല ഉത്തരവുകളും എല്ലാ നിയമങ്ങളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കുക; ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.’”

Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes and all my regulations and do them, —I, am Yahweh.
