ലേവ്യപുസ്തകം 18
1 യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു,
The Lord told Moses,
2 “ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടു സംസാരിക്കണം. അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.
“Tell the Israelites: I am the Lord your God.
3 നിങ്ങൾ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അവർ ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യരുത്. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്ന കനാൻനാട്ടിൽ അവർ ചെയ്തുപോകുന്നതുപോലെയും നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യരുത്. അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അനുകരിക്കരുത്.
Don't follow the ways of Egypt where you used to live, and don't follow the ways of Canaan where I'm going to take you. Don't adopt their practices.
4 നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നിയമം അനുസരിക്കയും എന്റെ ഉത്തരവുകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുകയും വേണം. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.
Do what I tell you and keep my rules. I am the Lord your God.
5 എന്റെ ഉത്തരവുകളും നിയമങ്ങളും പാലിക്കുക; കാരണം അവ അനുസരിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ അവമൂലം ജീവിക്കും. ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.
If you keep my rules and do what I tell you, you will live. I am the Lord.
6 “‘നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരും രക്തബന്ധമുള്ളവരുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടാൻ അവരെ സമീപിക്കരുത്, ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.
Don't have sex with a close relative.
7 “‘നിന്റെ മാതാവുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ടു നിന്റെ പിതാവിനെ അപമാനിക്കരുത്. അവൾ നിന്റെ മാതാവല്ലോ; അവളുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്.
Don't shame your father by having sex with your mother. She is your mother; don't have sex with her.
8 “‘പിതാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അതു നിന്റെ പിതാവിനെ അപമാനിക്കുന്നതാണ്.
Don't have sex with any of your father's wives and shame your father.
9 “‘പിതാവിന്റെ മകളോ മാതാവിന്റെ മകളോ ആയ നിന്റെ സഹോദരിയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്. അവർ വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ചവരോ പുറത്തുജനിച്ചവരോ ആകട്ടെ, അവരുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്.
Don't have sex with your sister, whether she's your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, or whether she was born in the same house as you or somewhere else.
10 “‘നിന്റെ മകന്റെ മകളുമായോ മകളുടെ മകളുമായോ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; കാരണം, അതു നിന്നെത്തന്നെ അപമാനിക്കുന്നതിനു തുല്യമാണ്.
Don't have sex with your granddaughter, your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, because that would be shameful thing for you.
11 “‘നിന്റെ പിതാവിനു ജനിച്ചവളും അയാളുടെ ഭാര്യയുടെ മകളുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അവൾ നിന്റെ സഹോദരിയാണല്ലോ.
Don't have sex with the daughter of any of your father's wives and your father, she is your sister.
12 “‘നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ സഹോദരിയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അവൾ പിതാവിന്റെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുവാണല്ലോ.
Don't have sex with your father's sister. She is a close relative of your father.
13 “‘നിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അവൾ നിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുവാണല്ലോ.
Don't have sex with your mother's sister. She is a close relative of your mother.
14 “‘നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്. അങ്ങനെ നീ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അപമാനിക്കരുത്; അവൾ നിന്റെ അമ്മായിയാണല്ലോ.
Don't bring shame on your uncle by having sex with his wife. She is your aunt.
15 “‘നിന്റെ മരുമകളുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്. അവൾ നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ഭാര്യയാണല്ലോ; അവളുമായുള്ള ലൈംഗികബന്ധം നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
Don't have sex with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife. Don't have sex with her.
16 “‘സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അതു നിന്റെ സഹോദരനെ അപമാനിക്കുന്നതിനു തുല്യമാണല്ലോ.
Don't have sex with your brother's wife and bring shame on your brother.
17 “‘ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുമായും അവളുടെ മകളുമായും ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്. അവളുടെ മകന്റെ മകളുമായോ മകളുടെ മകളുമായോ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അവർ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുക്കളാണല്ലോ. അതു ദുഷ്ടതയാണ്.
Don't have sex with both a woman and her daughter. Don't have sex with her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter. They are her close relatives. That is something I loathe.
18 “‘നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, അവളോടുള്ള വിരോധത്തിന് അവളുടെ സഹോദരിയെ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിക്കുകയോ അവളുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്.
Don't marry your wife's sister and have sex with her while your wife is still alive. They will be hostile wives to one other.
19 “‘ഋതുകാലത്തെ അശുദ്ധിയിൽ കഴിയുന്ന ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്.
Don't have sex with a woman during the time she is unclean because of her period.
20 “‘നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിയുടെ ഭാര്യയുമായി ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അവളാൽ നിനക്ക് അശുദ്ധി വരുത്തരുത്.
Don't commit any sex act with any other man's wife. This would pollute you and make you unclean.
21 “‘മോലെക്കിനു യാഗമർപ്പിക്കാൻ നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളിലൊന്നിനെയും കൊടുക്കരുത്; നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമം അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുത്; ഞാൻ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.
Don't give any of your children as a human sacrifice to Molech, for you must not disgrace the character of your God. I am the Lord.
22 “‘സ്ത്രീയോടെന്നപോലെ ഒരുവൻ പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടരുത്; അതു നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
Don't have sex with a man as with a woman. That is something disgusting.
23 “‘ഒരു മൃഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ട് നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്. മൃഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന് ഒരു സ്ത്രീയും അതിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിൽക്കരുത്; അതു നികൃഷ്ടമാണ്.
Don't have sex with any animal. This would pollute you and make you unclean.
24 “‘ഇവയിലൊന്നിലും നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്, കാരണം നിങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ ഓടിച്ചുകളയുന്ന ജനതകൾ ഇങ്ങനെയാണ് അശുദ്ധരായിത്തീർന്നത്.
A woman must not give herself to an animal to have sex with it. That is something disgusting. Don't pollute yourselves and make yourselves unclean by doing anything like this. That's the reason I'm expelling these nations from the land—they polluted themselves because of all these practices.
25 ദേശംപോലും മലിനമായി; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അതിനെ അതിന്റെ പാപംനിമിത്തം ശിക്ഷിച്ചു, ദേശം അതിലെ നിവാസികളെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
Even the land has become polluted, so I am punishing it for the sins committed by the people who live there, and the land will vomit them out.
26 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ഉത്തരവുകളും നിയമങ്ങളും പാലിക്കണം. സ്വദേശികളും നിങ്ങളുടെയിടയിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന പ്രവാസികളും ഈവക അറപ്പായതൊന്നും ചെയ്യരുത്.
You, however, must do what I tell you and keep my rules. You must not do any of these disgusting acts, whether an Israelite or a foreigner living among you.
27 കാരണം നിങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പ് ഈ ദേശത്തു താമസിച്ചിരുന്നവർ ഇവയൊക്കെ ചെയ്തു, അങ്ങനെ ദേശം മലിനമായിത്തീർന്നു.
The people who lived in the land before you practiced all these disgusting things, and the land became polluted.
28 നിങ്ങൾ ദേശത്തെ മലിനമാക്കിയാൽ, അതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്നവരെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളെയും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളയും.
If you pollute the land, it will vomit you out just like it did the nations before you.
29 “‘ഈ അറപ്പായ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ ഏതെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യുന്ന വ്യക്തികളെ അവരുടെ ജനത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഛേദിച്ചുകളയണം.
Consequently anyone who does any of these disgusting things must be expelled from their people.
30 എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങൾ പാലിക്കുക; നിങ്ങൾ വരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് നിലവിലിരുന്ന അറപ്പായ ആചാരനടപടികളിലൊന്നിലും ഏർപ്പെട്ട്, നിങ്ങളെ അവരോടൊപ്പം അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.’”
You must accept my demand that you don't follow any of these disgusting practices done before you arrived. Don't pollute yourselves and make yourselves unclean. I am the Lord your God.”
