ലേവ്യപുസ്തകം 11
1 യഹോവ മോശയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു:
The LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
2 “ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടു പറയുക: കരയിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ മൃഗങ്ങളിലും നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാവുന്നവ ഇവയാണ്:
"Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.
3 കുളമ്പു പിളർന്നു രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതും അയവിറക്കുന്നതുമായ ഏതൊരു മൃഗത്തെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാം.
Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.
4 “‘ഒന്നുകിൽ അയവിറക്കുന്നവയോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കുളമ്പു പിളർന്നവയോ ആയിരിക്കാം ചില മൃഗങ്ങൾ. അവ നിങ്ങൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്. ഒട്ടകം അയവിറക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും കുളമ്പു പിളർന്നതല്ല; അതു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധമാണ്.
"'Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.

The pig, because he has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn't chew the cud, he is unclean to you.
8 നിങ്ങൾ അവയുടെ മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കുകയോ അവയുടെ ശവം സ്പർശിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്; അവ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധമാണ്.
Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.
9 “‘കടൽവെള്ളത്തിലും പുഴയിലും ജീവിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ജീവികളിലും ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലും ഉള്ളവയെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാം.
"'These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.
10 എന്നാൽ കടലുകളിലും പുഴകളിലും കൂട്ടമായി ചരിക്കുന്നവയിലും വെള്ളത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു ജീവികളിലും, ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലും ഇല്ലാത്തവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമായിരിക്കണം.
All that do not have fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,
11 അവ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അറപ്പായിരിക്കണം. അവയുടെ മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്, അവയുടെ പിണം നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമായിരിക്കണം.
and you detest them. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.
12 വെള്ളത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന, ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലുമില്ലാത്ത എന്തും നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination to you.
13 “‘പറവകളിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് നിഷിദ്ധമായിരിക്കുന്നവ ഇവയാണ്: അവ അശുദ്ധമാകുകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അവ ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്: കഴുകൻ, ചെമ്പരുന്ത്, കരിമ്പരുന്ത്
"'These you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture,
14 ഗൃദ്ധ്രം, ഏതിനത്തിലുംപെട്ട പരുന്ത്,
and the red kite, any kind of black kite,
15 എല്ലാ ഇനത്തിലുംപെട്ട കാക്ക,
any kind of raven,
16 ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷി, പുള്ള്, കടൽക്കാക്ക, എല്ലാ ഇനത്തിലുംപെട്ട കഴുകൻ,
the horned owl, the screech owl, and the gull, any kind of hawk,
17 നത്ത്, നീർക്കാക്ക, കൂമൻ,
the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,
18 മൂങ്ങ, വേഴാമ്പൽ, വെള്ളക്കഴുകൻ,
the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,
19 പെരിഞ്ഞാറ, ഏതിനത്തിലുംപെട്ട കൊക്ക്, കുളക്കോഴി, വവ്വാൽ.
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20 “‘ചിറകുള്ള പ്രാണികളിൽ നാലുകാലിൽ നടക്കുകയും പറക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവയെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
"'All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you.
21 നാലുകാലിൽ നടക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും നിലത്തു ചാടിനടക്കേണ്ടതിനു കാലുകളിൽ സന്ധിബന്ധമുള്ളതും ചിറകുള്ളതുമായ പ്രാണികളെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാം.
Yet you may eat these: of all winged crawling creatures that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to hop on the earth.
22 ഇവയിൽ ഏതിനം വെട്ടുക്കിളിയും വിട്ടിലും ചീവീടും തുള്ളനും നിങ്ങൾക്കു തിന്നാം.
Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper.
23 എന്നാൽ, ചിറകും നാലു കാലുമുള്ള മറ്റെല്ലാ ജീവികളും നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
But all winged crawling creatures which have four feet, are an abomination to you.
24 “‘ഇവയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കും; അവയുടെ പിണം സ്പർശിക്കുന്നവർ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
"'By these you will become unclean: whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the evening.
25 അവയിലൊന്നിന്റെ പിണം എടുക്കുന്നവരും തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം അലക്കണം, അവരും സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
26 “‘കുളമ്പു പിരിഞ്ഞ് പൂർണമായി പിളരാത്തതും അയവിറക്കാത്തതുമായ മൃഗങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധം; അവയിലൊന്നിന്റെ പിണം തൊടുന്നവർ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
"'Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.
27 നാലുകാലിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ജീവികളിൽ ഉള്ളങ്കാൽ പതിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നവയെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധം; അവയിലൊന്നിന്റെ പിണം സ്പർശിക്കുന്നവർ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
28 അവയുടെ പിണം എടുക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം അലക്കണം, അവർ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും. ഈ മൃഗങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്.
He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.
29 “‘നിലത്തു സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ജന്തുക്കളിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധമായവ ഇവയാണ്: പെരുച്ചാഴി, എലി, എല്ലാ ഇനത്തിലുംപെട്ട ഉടുമ്പ്,
"'These are they which are unclean to you among the creatures that crawl on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,
30 അളുങ്ക്, ഓന്ത്, പല്ലി, അരണ, തുരപ്പൻ
the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
31 നിലത്തു സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവകയിലും ഇവ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധമാണ്. അവയുടെ ജഡം സ്പർശിക്കുന്നവരും സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
These are they which are unclean to you among all that crawl. Whoever touches them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening.
32 അവയിലൊന്നു ചത്ത് എന്തിന്മേലെങ്കിലും വീണാൽ, ആ സാധനത്തിന്റെ ഉപയോഗമെന്തായാലും, അതു മരമോ വസ്ത്രമോ തുകലോ ചാക്കുശീലയോകൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതാണെങ്കിലും അശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും. അതു വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഇടണം; അതു സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും, പിന്നെ അതു ശുദ്ധമാകും.
On whatever any of them falls when they are dead, it shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it will be clean.
33 അവയിലൊന്ന് ഒരു മൺപാത്രത്തിൽ വീണാൽ അതിലുള്ളതെല്ലാം അശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും, നിങ്ങൾ ആ പാത്രം ഉടച്ചുകളയണം.
Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.
34 ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ അനുവാദമുള്ള ഏതെങ്കിലും ആഹാരത്തിൽ അങ്ങനെയുള്ള പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം വീണാൽ അത് അശുദ്ധമാകും. അതിലുള്ള ഏതു പാനീയവും അശുദ്ധമാകും.
All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
35 അവയിലൊന്നിന്റെ പിണം എന്തിലെങ്കിലും വീണാൽ വീഴുന്നതെന്തായാലും അത് അശുദ്ധമാകും. അത് അടുപ്പായാലും പാചകപാത്രമായാലും ഉടച്ചുകളയണം. അവ അശുദ്ധമാണ്, അവയെ അശുദ്ധമായി പരിഗണിക്കണം.
Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.
36 എന്നാൽ ഒരു ഉറവയോ ഒരു ജലസംഭരണിയോ ശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും; ഈ പിണങ്ങളിലൊന്നു സ്പർശിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തി അശുദ്ധനാണ്.
Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is a gathered shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.
37 നടാനുള്ള വിത്തിൽ ഒരു പിണം വീണാൽ. അത് ശുദ്ധമായിത്തന്നെയിരിക്കും.
If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
38 എന്നാൽ വിത്തിൽ വെള്ളം ഒഴിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പിണം അതിന്മേൽ വീണാൽ അതു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധമാണ്.
But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.
39 “‘നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ അനുവാദമുള്ള ഒരു മൃഗം ചത്താൽ അതിന്റെ പിണം തൊടുന്നവർ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും.
"'If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
40 ആ പിണത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം കഴുകണം. അവർ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കും. ആരെങ്കിലും ആ പിണം എടുത്താൽ അയാൾ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം കഴുകണം, അയാൾ സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും.
He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
41 “‘നിലത്ത് ഇഴയുന്ന എല്ലാ പ്രാണികളും നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധമാണ്; അതു ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്.
"'Every swarming thing that swarms on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten.
42 ഉരസ്സുകൊണ്ടോ നാലുകാലുകൊണ്ടോ കൂടുതൽ കാലുകൾകൊണ്ടോ നിലത്തു ചരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രാണിയെയും നിങ്ങൾ തിന്നരുത്; അവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിഷിദ്ധം.
Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creatures that crawl on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
43 ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള ഏതെങ്കിലും ഇഴജാതിമൂലം നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്. അവ മുഖാന്തിരമോ അവയാലോ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്.
You shall not make yourselves abominable with any crawling creature that crawls, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby.
44 ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു; ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധനാകുകയാൽ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു വിശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കുക. നിലത്തു സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജീവിയാലും നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അശുദ്ധരാക്കരുത്.
For I am the LORD your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of crawling creature that moves on the earth.
45 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായിരിക്കാൻ, നിങ്ങളെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവ ഞാനാകുന്നു; ആകയാൽ, ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധനാകുകയാൽ, നിങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധരായിരിക്കുക.
For I am the LORD who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 “‘മൃഗങ്ങളെയും പറവകളെയും ജലത്തിൽ ചരിക്കുന്ന ജീവികളെയും നിലത്തു ചരിക്കുന്ന ജീവികളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ച പ്രമാണം ഇവയാകുന്നു.
"'This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that crawls on the earth,
47 നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ശുദ്ധവും അശുദ്ധവുംതമ്മിലും ഭക്ഷിക്കാവുന്നവയും ഭക്ഷിക്കരുതാത്തവയുമായ ജീവികൾതമ്മിലും തരംതിരിവുണ്ടായിരിക്കണം.’”
to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.'"
