ന്യായാധിപന്മാർ 15
1 കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട്, ഗോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്ത് ശിംശോൻ ഒരു കോലാട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയുമായി തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ സന്ദർശിക്കാൻപോയി. അദ്ദേഹം, “ശയനമുറിയിൽ എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഞാൻ ചെല്ലട്ടെ,” എന്ന് അവളുടെ പിതാവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. പക്ഷേ, അവളുടെ പിതാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അതിനു സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.
And it came to pass after some time, in the time of wheat-harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, Let me go in to my wife into the chamber; but her father would not suffer him to go in.
2 “നിനക്ക് അവളിൽ അനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു എന്ന് എനിക്ക് ഉറപ്പായിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവളെ നിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തോഴന്മാരിൽ ഒരാൾക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവളുടെ അനുജത്തി അവളെക്കാൾ സുന്ദരിയല്ലേ? മറ്റവൾക്കു പകരം നീ ഇവളെ സ്വീകരിക്കുക,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And her father said, I verily thought that thou didst utterly hate her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? Let her be thine, I pray thee, instead of her.
3 ശിംശോൻ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇപ്പോൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോട് എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്താൽ ഞാൻ കുറ്റക്കാരനല്ല; ഞാൻ അവരോട് പകരംവീട്ടും.”
And Samson said to them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them evil.
4 ശിംശോൻ പോയി മുന്നൂറ് കുറുക്കന്മാരെ പിടിച്ച് ഈരണ്ടെണ്ണത്തിനെ വാലോടുവാൽ ചേർത്തുവെച്ച് വാലിനിടയിൽ ഓരോ പന്തം വെച്ചുകെട്ടി.
And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put one torch between two tails in the midst;
5 പന്തത്തിനു തീകൊളുത്തി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ വിളവിലേക്കു വിട്ടു. വിളഞ്ഞുനിന്നവയും കൊയ്ത കറ്റയും മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പുകളും ഒലിവുതോട്ടങ്ങളും എല്ലാം ശിംശോൻ അഗ്നിക്കിരയാക്കി.
And he set the torches on fire, and let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both shocks and standing corn, as also olive-yards.
6 “ആരാണ് ഇതു ചെയ്തത്?” ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ അന്വേഷിച്ചു. “തിമ്നക്കാരന്റെ മരുമകൻ ശിംശോൻ; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ തന്റെ വിവാഹത്തോഴനു കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ട്” എന്ന് അവർക്ക് അറിവുകിട്ടി. അപ്പോൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ ചെന്ന് അവളെയും അവളുടെ പിതാവിനെയും തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
Then said the Philistines, Who hath done this! And they answered, Samson, the son-in-law of the Thimnite, because he hath taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines went up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
7 അപ്പോൾ ശിംശോൻ അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ ഈ വിധം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യാതെ വിടുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Samson said unto them, Since ye will do the like of this, I will surely be avenged on you, and after that will I cease.
8 അവരെ കഠിനമായി മർദിച്ച് അവരിൽ അനേകരെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ഏതാംപാറയിലെ ഒരു ഗുഹയിൽചെന്നു പാർത്തു.
And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter; and he went down and tarried in the cleft of the rock 'Etam.
9 എന്നാൽ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വന്ന് യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ പാളയമിറങ്ങി; ലേഹിക്കു സമീപം നിരന്നു.
And the Philistines went up, and encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lechi.
10 “നിങ്ങൾ എന്തിന് ഞങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധത്തിനുവന്നു?” എന്ന് യെഹൂദ്യർ ചോദിച്ചു. “ശിംശോൻ ഞങ്ങളോടു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതുപോലെ അയാളോടും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്, അവനെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടാനാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്,” എന്ന് അവർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
11 അപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്ന് മൂവായിരംപേർ ഏതാംപാറയിലെ ഗുഹയിൽചെന്ന് ശിംശോനോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “ഫെലിസ്ത്യരാണ് നമ്മെ ഭരിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് താങ്കൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലേ? താങ്കൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതെന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “അവർ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരോടും ചെയ്തു,” അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
Thereupon went three thousand men of Judah down to the cleft of the rock 'Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines rule over us? and what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
12 അവർ ശിംശോനോട്, “നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാനാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശിംശോൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്ന് എന്നോട് സത്യം ചെയ്യണം.”
And they said unto him, To bind thee are we come down, to deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not assail me yourselves.
13 “ഇല്ല; ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി അവരുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയേയുള്ളൂ,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ പുതിയ കയർകൊണ്ട് അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ച് ഗുഹയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
And they said unto him, thus, No; for we will [only] bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand; but we will in no-wise kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
14 അയാൾ ലേഹിയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ അയാളെ കണ്ട് ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് ശക്തിയോടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ വന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ബന്ധിച്ചിരുന്ന കയർ തീകൊണ്ടു കരിഞ്ഞ് ചണനൂൽപോലെയായി; കെട്ടുകൾ ദ്രവിച്ചുപോയി.
When he was come unto Lechi, the Philistines shouted against him; but the Spirit of the Lord came suddenly over him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax threads that are burnt with fire, and his bands melted from off his hands.
15 ഒരു കഴുതയുടെ പച്ചത്താടിയെല്ല് കണ്ട് അയാൾ കൈയിലെടുത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ട് ആയിരംപേരെ കൊന്ന് രണ്ടുകൂനകളായി കൂട്ടി.
And he found a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and smote therewith a thousand men.
16 “കഴുതയുടെ താടിയെല്ലുകൊണ്ട് കുന്ന് ഒന്ന്, കുന്ന് രണ്ട്; കഴുതയുടെ താടിയെല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ ആയിരംപേരെ കൊന്നു.” എന്നു ശിംശോൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
And Samson said, With a jaw-bone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw-bone of an ass have I smitten a thousand men.
17 ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട്, അദ്ദേഹം ആ താടിയെല്ല് കൈയിൽനിന്ന് ദൂരെയെറിഞ്ഞു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന് രാമത്-ലേഹി എന്നു പേരായി.
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jaw-bone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lechi.
18 പിന്നെ ശിംശോന് വളരെ ദാഹിച്ചു, അദ്ദേഹം യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു: “അടിയന്റെ കൈയാൽ ഈ മഹാജയം അവിടന്ന് നൽകിയല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ദാഹംകൊണ്ട് മരിക്കണമോ പരിച്ഛേദനം ഏൽക്കാത്തവരുടെ കൈയിൽ വീഴണമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And he became very thirsty, and he called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast granted through the hand of thy servant this great deliverance; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19 അപ്പോൾ ദൈവം ലേഹിയിൽ പൊള്ളയായ ഒരു സ്ഥലം പിളർന്നു. അവിടെനിന്നു വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ശിംശോൻ കുടിച്ചു ചൈതന്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ട് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന് എൻ-ഹക്കോരെ എന്നു പേരായി. അത് ഇന്നും ലേഹിയിലുണ്ട്.
But God clave a hollow place that was at Lechi, and there came forth water out of it; and he drank, and his spirit came again, and he revived; wherefore he called the name thereof 'En-hakkore, which is in Lechi unto this day.
20 ശിംശോൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കാലത്ത് ഇരുപതുവർഷം ഇസ്രായേലിനു ന്യായപാലനംചെയ്തു.
And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
