ന്യായാധിപന്മാർ 14
1 ശിംശോൻ തിമ്നയിലേക്കുപോയി. അവിടെ ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യയുവതിയെ കണ്ടു.
And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 അദ്ദേഹം മടങ്ങിവന്നപ്പോൾ തന്റെ പിതാവിനോടും മാതാവിനോടും, “ഞാൻ തിമ്നയിൽ ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യയുവതിയെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ എനിക്കു വിവാഹംചെയ്തുതരണം” എന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
3 അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ, “നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരുടെയും നമ്മുടെ ജനത്തിന്റെയും ഇടയിൽ സ്വീകാര്യയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയും ഇല്ലേ? ഒരു ഭാര്യയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി നീ പരിച്ഛേദനം ഏൽക്കാത്ത ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പോകണമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ശിംശോൻ തന്റെ പിതാവിനോട്, “അവളെ എനിക്കു തരിക; എനിക്ക് അവൾ അനുയോജ്യയാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleases me well.
4 ഇത് യഹോവയാൽ സംഭവിച്ചു എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ ഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല; ആ കാലത്ത് ഇസ്രായേലിനെ വാണിരുന്ന ഫെലിസ്ത്യർക്കെതിരേ യഹോവ ഒരു അവസരം കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു.
But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
5 ശിംശോൻ തന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളുമൊത്ത് തിമ്നയിലേക്കുപോയി. തിമ്നയ്ക്കരികെയുള്ള മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പുകൾക്ക് അടുത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഒരു സിംഹക്കുട്ടി അലറിക്കൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുനേരേ വന്നു.
Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
6 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് ശക്തിയോടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ വന്നു; ആയുധം ഒന്നും കൂടാതെതന്നെ കൈകൊണ്ട്, ഒരു ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയെ എന്നപോലെ, അദ്ദേഹം അതിനെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു. താൻ ചെയ്തത് പിതാവിനെയും മാതാവിനെയും അറിയിച്ചില്ല.
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
7 ശിംശോൻ ആ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിച്ചു; അവളെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഇഷ്ടമായി.
And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
8 കുറച്ചുനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹം അവളെ വിവാഹംകഴിക്കാൻ അവിടേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരുമ്പോൾ സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടൽ കാണേണ്ടതിന് വഴിമാറിച്ചെന്നു നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ, അതാ സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലിനുള്ളിൽ ഒരു തേനീച്ചക്കൂട്ടവും തേനും.
And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.
9 അത് അദ്ദേഹം കൈകൊണ്ട് അടർത്തിയെടുത്തു തിന്നുകൊണ്ട് പിതാവിന്റെയും മാതാവിന്റെയും അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അവർക്കും കൊടുത്തു; അവരും തിന്നു. എന്നാൽ സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലിൽനിന്നാണ് ആ തേൻ എടുത്തതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.
10 ശിംശോന്റെ പിതാവ് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടിൽച്ചെന്നു; ശിംശോൻ അവിടെ ഒരു വിരുന്നു നടത്തി. മണവാളന്മാർ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുക പതിവായിരുന്നു.
So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
11 അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അകമ്പടിയായി ആരുംതന്നെയില്ല എന്നുകണ്ടപ്പോൾ, അവർ മുപ്പത് വിവാഹത്തോഴന്മാരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു നൽകി.
And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 ശിംശോൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോട് ഒരു കടങ്കഥ പറയാം; വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴുദിവസത്തിനകം നിങ്ങൾ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുപ്പത് പരുത്തിനൂൽവസ്ത്രവും മുപ്പത് വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും നൽകാം.
And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if all of you can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
13 ഉത്തരം പറയാത്തപക്ഷം നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കു മുപ്പത് പരുത്തിനൂൽവസ്ത്രവും മുപ്പത് വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരണം.” “നിന്റെ കടം പറയുക; ഞങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കട്ടെ,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
But if all of you cannot declare it me, then shall all of you give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.
14 ശിംശോൻ അവരോട്, “ഭോക്താവിൽനിന്നു ഭോജനവും; ശക്തനിൽനിന്നു മാധുര്യവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. മൂന്നു ദിവസമായിട്ടും ഉത്തരം പറയാൻ അവർക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
15 ഏഴാം ദിവസം അവർ ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനെ സ്വാധീനിച്ച് കടങ്കഥയുടെ ഉത്തരം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെയും തീവെച്ച് ചുട്ടുകളയും; ഞങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളയടിക്കാനാണോ നിങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളെ ക്ഷണിച്ചത്?”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: have all of you called us to take that we have? is it not so?
16 ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുന്നിൽവീണു കരഞ്ഞു: “താങ്കൾ എന്നെ യഥാർഥമായി സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നില്ല, എന്നോടു വെറുപ്പാണ്. എന്റെ ആളുകളോട് താങ്കൾ പറഞ്ഞ കടങ്കഥയുടെ ഉത്തരം എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതന്നില്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം അവളോട്: “എന്റെ പിതാവിനും മാതാവിനുംപോലും ഞാനതു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല; പിന്നെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, You do but hate me, and love me not: you have put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and have not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it you?
17 വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴുദിവസവും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തുടർച്ചയായി അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകയാൽ, അദ്ദേഹം ഏഴാംദിവസം അവൾക്ക് അതു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു; അവൾ അത് തന്റെ ആളുകൾക്കു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു.
And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
18 ഏഴാംദിവസം സൂര്യാസ്തമയത്തിനുമുമ്പ് പട്ടണനിവാസികൾ വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “തേനിനെക്കാൾ മാധുര്യമുള്ളത് എന്ത്? സിംഹത്തെക്കാൾ കരുത്തുള്ളത് എന്ത്?” അതിനുത്തരമായി ശിംശോൻ അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ പശുക്കിടാവിനെ കെട്ടി ഉഴുതില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ, എന്റെ കടങ്കഥയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തരം പറയുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If all of you had not plowed with my heifer, all of you had not found out my riddle.
19 പിന്നെ, യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ ശക്തിയോടെ വന്നു; അദ്ദേഹം അസ്കലോനിൽചെന്ന് മുപ്പതുപേരെ കൊന്ന് അവരെ കൊള്ളയടിച്ച് അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് കടങ്കഥയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തരം നൽകിയവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു. കോപാകുലനായ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.
20 അതിനുശേഷം ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തോഴന്മാരിൽ ഒരാൾക്കു ഭാര്യയായിത്തീർന്നു.
But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
