യോശുവ 9
1 യോർദാനു പശ്ചിമഭാഗത്തുള്ള രാജാക്കന്മാർ—മലകളിലും പടിഞ്ഞാറുള്ള കുന്നിൻപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും, ലെബാനോൻവരെ മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ കടലിന്റെ തീരപ്രദേശത്തുമുള്ള ഹിത്യർ, അമോര്യർ, കനാന്യർ, പെരിസ്യർ, ഹിവ്യർ, യെബൂസ്യർ എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ രാജാക്കന്മാർ—
and to be like/as to hear: hear all [the] king which in/on/with side: beyond [the] Jordan in/on/with mountain: mount and in/on/with Shephelah and in/on/with all coast [the] sea [the] Great (Sea) to(wards) opposite [the] Lebanon [the] Hittite and [the] Amorite [the] Canaanite [the] Perizzite [the] Hivite and [the] Jebusite
2 ഈ വസ്തുതകളെല്ലാം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ യോശുവയോടും ഇസ്രായേലിനോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി.

3 എന്നാൽ യോശുവ യെരീഹോവിനോടും ഹായിയോടും ചെയ്തതു ഗിബെയോൻനിവാസികൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ,

6 ഗിൽഗാലിലെ പാളയത്തിൽ യോശുവയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടും ഇസ്രായേൽ പുരുഷന്മാരോടും, “ഞങ്ങൾ ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോട് ഒരു സമാധാനയുടമ്പടി ചെയ്യണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7 ഇസ്രായേൽപുരുഷന്മാർ ഹിവ്യരോട്: “ഒരുപക്ഷേ നിങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സമീപം താമസിക്കുന്നവരായിരിക്കും. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ എങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുമായി ഒരു സമാധാനയുടമ്പടി ഉണ്ടാക്കും?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8 അവർ യോശുവയോട്: “ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദാസന്മാർ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ യോശുവ അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ ആരാകുന്നു? എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

9 അവർ ഉത്തരമായി, “അങ്ങയുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കീർത്തി ഹേതുവായി അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസന്മാർ വളരെ ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അവിടന്ന് ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും,

10 യോർദാനു കിഴക്ക്, ഹെശ്ബോൻരാജാവായ സീഹോൻ, അസ്തരോത്തിലെ ബാശാൻരാജാവായ ഓഗ് എന്നീ രണ്ട് അമോര്യരാജാക്കന്മാരോടു ചെയ്തതും ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11 അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും ദേശവാസികൾ എല്ലാവരും ഞങ്ങളോട്, ‘യാത്രയ്ക്കുവേണ്ട ഭക്ഷണസാധനം എടുത്ത്, അവരെ ചെന്നുകണ്ട്, “ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദാസന്മാരാകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുമായി ഒരു സമാധാനയുടമ്പടി ചെയ്യുക” എന്നു പറയണം’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12 ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വരാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ട നാളിൽ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായിട്ട് ഈ അപ്പം ചൂടോടെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളിൽനിന്ന് എടുത്തതാകുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ അത് ഉണങ്ങി പൂത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14 ഇസ്രായേൽപുരുഷന്മാർ യഹോവയോടു ചോദിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങൾ രുചിച്ചുനോക്കി.
and to take: take [the] human from food their and [obj] lip: word LORD not to ask
15 അവരെ ജീവിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കുമെന്നുള്ള ഒരു സമാധാനയുടമ്പടി യോശുവ അവരുമായി ചെയ്തു; സമൂഹത്തിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അതു ശപഥംചെയ്ത് അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

16 ഗിബെയോന്യരുമായി സമാധാനയുടമ്പടി ചെയ്ത് മൂന്നുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, അവർ സമീപത്തു താമസിക്കുന്ന അയൽക്കാർ ആണെന്ന് ഇസ്രായേല്യർ മനസ്സിലാക്കി.

17 അതിനാൽ ഇസ്രായേല്യർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു മൂന്നാംദിവസം അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളായ ഗിബെയോൻ, കെഫീരാ, ബേരോത്ത്, കിര്യത്ത്-യെയാരീം എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ എത്തി.

18 ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെക്കൊണ്ടു സമൂഹത്തിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ശപഥംചെയ്യുകമൂലം ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ അവരെ ആക്രമിച്ചില്ല. എന്നാൽ സഭമുഴുവനും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെനേരേ പിറുപിറുത്തു.

19 എന്നാൽ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ശപഥം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുകയാൽ നമുക്കിപ്പോൾ അവരെ തൊട്ടുകൂടാ.
and to say all [the] leader to(wards) all [the] congregation we to swear to/for them in/on/with LORD God Israel and now not be able to/for to touch in/on/with them
20 നമുക്ക് അവരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാം: അവരെ ജീവിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കുക. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നാം ചെയ്ത ശപഥം ലംഘിക്കുന്നതുമൂലം ദൈവകോപം നമ്മുടെമേൽ വരുമല്ലോ.

21 അവർ ജീവിക്കട്ടെ. എങ്കിലും അവർ മുഴുവൻ സമൂഹത്തിനും വിറകുകീറുന്നവരും വെള്ളംകോരുന്നവരും ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.” അങ്ങനെ അവരോടുള്ള പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ ശപഥം പാലിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

22 പിന്നെ യോശുവ ഗിബെയോന്യരെ വിളിച്ച് അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സമീപം താമസിക്കെ, വളരെദൂരെ താമസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഞങ്ങളെ കബളിപ്പിച്ചതെന്ത്?
and to call: call to to/for them Joshua and to speak: speak to(wards) them to/for to say to/for what? to deceive [obj] us to/for to say distant we from you much and you(m. p.) in/on/with entrails: among our to dwell
23 അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരാകുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാ കാലവും എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിനുവേണ്ടി വിറകുകീറുന്നവരും വെള്ളംകോരുന്നവരും ആയിത്തുടരും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 അവർ യോശുവയോട്: “നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഈ ദേശമെല്ലാം തരുമെന്നും നിങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് ഈ ദേശവാസികളെയെല്ലാം ഉന്മൂലനംചെയ്യുമെന്നും തന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നെന്ന് അടിയങ്ങൾക്കറിവു കിട്ടിയതിനാൽ നിങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഭയത്താൽ ഇതു ചെയ്തു.

25 ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയുടെ കരങ്ങളിലാണ്; അങ്ങേക്കു നല്ലതെന്നും ശരിയെന്നും തോന്നുന്നതെന്തും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊൾക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26 അങ്ങനെ യോശുവ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽനിന്നും അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; അവർ അവരെ കൊന്നില്ല.

27 അന്ന് അവരെ ഇസ്രായേല്യസമൂഹത്തിനും യഹോവ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് അവന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിനും വിറകുകീറുന്നവരും വെള്ളംകോരുന്നവരുമാക്കി. അവർ ഇന്നുവരെയും അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുവരുന്നു.
