യോശുവ 17
1 യോസേഫിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ ഗോത്രത്തിനുള്ള അവകാശമായി മനശ്ശെയുടെ ആദ്യജാതൻ മാഖീറിനു ലഭിച്ച ഓഹരി ഇതാണ്. മാഖീർ ഗിലെയാദ്യരുടെ പൂർവികനായിരുന്നു. മാഖീര്യർ നല്ല യുദ്ധവീരന്മാരായിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവർക്കു ഗിലെയാദും ബാശാനും ലഭിച്ചു.
There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he [was] the firstborn of Joseph; [to wit], for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2 മനശ്ശെയുടെശേഷം പുത്രന്മാരായ അബിയേസെർ, ഹേലെക്, അസ്രീയേൽ, ശേഖേം, ഹേഫെർ, ശെമീദ എന്നിവരുടെ കുലങ്ങൾക്കും ഓഹരി ലഭിച്ചു. ഇവർ കുലംകുലമായി യോസേഫിന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളായ പുരുഷന്മാരായിരുന്നു.
There was also [a lot] for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these [were] the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families. (Abiezer: also called, Jeezer)
3 എന്നാൽ മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ മകനായ ഹേഫെരിന്റെ മകൻ സെലോഫഹാദിന് പുത്രിമാരല്ലാതെ, പുത്രന്മാർ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. അവർ മഹ്ലാ, നോവാ, ഹൊഗ്ലാ, മിൽക്കാ, തിർസാ എന്നിവരായിരുന്നു.
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these [are] the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
4 അവർ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെയും ഇസ്രായേല്യനേതാക്കന്മാരുടെയും അടുത്തുചെന്ന് അവരോട്, “ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു ഓഹരി ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തരാൻ യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ടു യോശുവ യഹോവയുടെ കൽപ്പനപ്രകാരം അവരുടെ പിതൃസഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അവകാശത്തിന്റെകൂടെ അവർക്കും ഓഹരികൊടുത്തു.
And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, YHWH commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of YHWH he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
5 യോർദാനു കിഴക്കുള്ള ഗിലെയാദും ബാശാനും കൂടാതെ പത്തുമേഖലകൾ മനശ്ശെയുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു;
And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which [were] on the other side Jordan;
6 മനശ്ശെഗോത്രത്തിലെ പുത്രിമാർക്കും പുത്രന്മാരുടെകൂടെ ഓഹരി കിട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടാണ്. മനശ്ശെയുടെ പിൻഗാമികളിൽ ശേഷിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ഗിലെയാദുദേശം ലഭിച്ചു.
Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.
7 മനശ്ശെയുടെ മേഖല ആശേർമുതൽ ശേഖേമിനു കിഴക്കുള്ള മിക്‌മെഥാത്തുവരെ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടന്നു. മേഖലയുടെ അതിര് അവിടെനിന്നു തെക്കോട്ടു ചെന്ന് ഏൻ-തപ്പൂഹയിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ അടുക്കലോളം നീണ്ടുകിടക്കുന്നു.
And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that [lieth] before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Entappuah.
8 (തപ്പൂഹദേശം മനശ്ശെയുടേതായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും മനശ്ശെയുടെ അതിരിലുള്ള തപ്പൂഹപട്ടണം എഫ്രയീമ്യരുടെ വകയായിരുന്നു.)
[Now] Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh [belonged] to the children of Ephraim;
9 അതിര് തെക്കുവശത്തേക്ക്, കാനാമലയിടുക്കുവരെ വ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്നു. മനശ്ശെയുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ എഫ്രയീമ്യപട്ടണങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ മനശ്ശെയുടെ അതിര് മലയിടുക്കിന്റെ വടക്കുവശത്തുകൂടി മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ സമുദ്രത്തിൽ അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.
And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim [are] among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also [was] on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea: (river Kanah: or, brook of reeds)
10 തെക്കുഭാഗം എഫ്രയീമിനും വടക്കുഭാഗം മനശ്ശെക്കും ഉള്ളതായിരുന്നു. അത് മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ സമുദ്രംവരെ ചെന്നിരുന്നു: അതിന്റെ വടക്ക് ആശേരും കിഴക്ക് യിസ്സാഖാരും ആയിരുന്നു.
Southward [it was] Ephraim's, and northward [it was] Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
11 യിസ്സാഖാരിലും ആശേരിലും മനശ്ശെക്കു ബേത്-ശയാനും യിബ്ലെയാമും, ദോർ, എൻ-ദോർ, താനാക്ക്, മെഗിദ്ദോ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ നിവാസികളും അവയുടെ അധീനനഗരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മൂന്നാമത്തേത് നാഫോത്ത് ആകുന്നു.
And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, [even] three countries.
12 എന്നാൽ മനശ്ശെയുടെ മക്കൾക്ക് ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ നിവാസികളെ നീക്കിക്കളയാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ല; കനാന്യർ അവിടെത്തന്നെ താമസിക്കാൻ ഉറച്ചിരുന്നു.
Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out [the inhabitants of] those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
13 എന്നാൽ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ ബലവാന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നപ്പോൾ കനാന്യരെ പൂർണമായും ഓടിച്ചുകളയാതെ അവരെക്കൊണ്ടു നിർബന്ധിതമായി ജോലിചെയ്യിച്ചു.
Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
14 ഇതിനുശേഷം യോസേഫിന്റെ ആളുകൾ യോശുവയോട്, “ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരു വലിയ ജനസമൂഹമായിട്ടും യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ സമൃദ്ധമായി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടും നീ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു അവകാശവും അതിന്റെ ഒരു അംശംമാത്രവും തന്നതെന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me [but] one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I [am] a great people, forasmuch as YHWH hath blessed me hitherto?
15 “നിങ്ങൾ എണ്ണത്തിൽ അത്ര വലുതും നിങ്ങളുടെ എഫ്രയീം മലമ്പ്രദേശം വിസ്താരത്തിൽ ചെറുതുമെങ്കിൽ, പെരിസ്യരുടെയും മല്ലന്മാരായ രേഫാര്യരുടെയുംവക മലമ്പ്രദേശത്തേക്കുചെന്ന് കാടു വെട്ടിത്തെളിച്ചു സ്ഥലം എടുത്തുകൊൾക” എന്നു യോശുവ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
And Joshua answered them, If thou [be] a great people, [then] get thee up to the wood [country], and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee. (giants: or, Rephaims)
16 അതിനു യോസേഫിന്റെ ആളുകൾ, “ഞങ്ങൾക്കു മലമ്പ്രദേശം പോരാ; ബേത്-ശയാൻ, അതിന്റെ അധീനനഗരങ്ങൾ, യെസ്രീൽതാഴ്വര എന്നീ സമതലപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന കനാന്യർക്കെല്ലാം ഇരുമ്പുരഥങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, [both they] who [are] of Bethshean and her towns, and [they] who [are] of the valley of Jezreel.
17 എന്നാൽ യോശുവ യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളായ മനശ്ശെയോടും എഫ്രയീമിനോടും, “നിങ്ങൾ എണ്ണത്തിലും ശക്തിയിലും വലുപ്പമുള്ളവർതന്നെ. നിങ്ങൾക്കു കിട്ടേണ്ടത് ഒരു ഓഹരിമാത്രമല്ല.
And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, [even] to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou [art] a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot [only]:
18 വനനിബിഡമായ മലനാട് നിങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളതായിരിക്കണം. അതു കാടാണ് എങ്കിലും അതു വെട്ടിത്തെളിക്കുക. അതിന്റെ അങ്ങേയറ്റംവരെയുള്ള പ്രദേശം നിങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു. കനാന്യർക്ക് ഇരുമ്പു രഥമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, അവർ ബലവാന്മാരാണെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ ഓടിച്ചുകളയും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But the mountain shall be thine; for it [is] a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, [and] though they [be] strong.
