യോശുവ 14
1 കനാൻദേശത്ത് ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കു ലഭിച്ച അവകാശഭൂമി ഇതാണ്: എലെയാസാർ പുരോഹിതനും നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയും ഇസ്രായേൽഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും ചേർന്ന് അവർക്കു വിഭജിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
And this is what the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, allotted for inheritance to them:
2 യഹോവ മോശയിൽക്കൂടി കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒൻപതരഗോത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് ഓഹരി ഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തത് നറുക്കിട്ടായിരുന്നു.
their inheritance was by lot, as Jehovah had commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.
3 രണ്ടര ഗോത്രങ്ങൾക്കു മോശ യോർദാനു കിഴക്ക് അവരുടെ ഓഹരി കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ലേവ്യർക്കു മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഓഹരി കൊടുത്തില്ല;
For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.
4 യോസേഫിന്റെ മക്കൾ മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്ന രണ്ടു ഗോത്രങ്ങളായിത്തീർന്നിരുന്നു. ലേവ്യർക്കു ദേശത്തിന്റെ ഓഹരി ലഭിച്ചില്ല; എന്നാൽ താമസിക്കുന്നതിനു പട്ടണങ്ങളും, ആടുമാടുകൾക്കും മൃഗസമ്പത്തിനും പുൽമേടുകളും ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു.
For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and they gave no part to the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5 യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ ദേശം വിഭജിച്ചു.
As Jehovah had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6 ഇതിനുശേഷം യെഹൂദയുടെ മക്കൾ ഗിൽഗാലിൽ യോശുവയുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു; കെനിസ്യനായ യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ ദൈവപുരുഷനായ മോശയോട് എന്നെയും നിന്നെയുംകുറിച്ച് കാദേശ്-ബർന്നേയയിൽവെച്ചു പറഞ്ഞകാര്യം നിനക്ക് അറിയാമല്ലോ.
Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, Thou knowest the word that Jehovah spoke to Moses the man of God, concerning me and thee, in Kadesh-barnea.
7 യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശ കാദേശ്-ബർന്നേയയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ ദേശം പര്യവേക്ഷണംചെയ്യാൻ അയയ്ക്കുമ്പോൾ എനിക്കു നാൽപ്പതുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു. ഞാൻ തിരികെവന്ന് സത്യസന്ധമായ ഒരു വിവരണം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു നൽകി.
Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of Jehovah sent me from Kadesh-barnea to search out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
8 എന്നാൽ എന്നോടുകൂടി പോന്ന എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ, ജനഹൃദയം ഭയംകൊണ്ട് ഉരുകുമാറാക്കി. ഞാനോ, എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂർണമനസ്സോടെ പിൻതുടർന്നു.
And my brethren that had gone up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Jehovah my God.
9 അതുകൊണ്ട് മോശ അന്ന് എന്നോട്, ‘നീ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂർണമനസ്സോടെ പിൻതുടർന്നതുകൊണ്ട് നിന്റെ പാദസ്പർശമേറ്റിട്ടുള്ള ദേശംമുഴുവൻ നീയും നിന്റെ മക്കളും എന്നെന്നേക്കുമായി അവകാശമാക്കും’ എന്നു ശപഥംചെയ്തു.
And Moses swore on that day, saying, The land whereon thy feet have trodden shall assuredly be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever! for thou hast wholly followed Jehovah my God.
10 “യഹോവ ഇതു മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുമുതൽ ഇപ്പോൾവരെ, ഈ നാൽപ്പത്തിയഞ്ചുവർഷം, മരുഭൂമിയിൽക്കൂടിയുള്ള ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രയാണകാലത്ത്, യഹോവ വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തതുപോലെ എന്നെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എനിക്കിപ്പോൾ എൺപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരിക്കുന്നു.
And now behold, Jehovah has kept me alive, as he said, these forty-five years, since Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, when Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now behold, I am this day eighty-five years old.
11 മോശ എന്നെ അയച്ച അന്നത്തെപ്പോലെ ഇന്നും ഞാൻ ആരോഗ്യവാനാണ്. അന്നത്തെപ്പോലെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഇന്നും ഞാൻ ഊർജസ്വലനാണ്.
I am still this day strong, as in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out and to come in.
12 അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ അന്നു വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്ത ഈ മലമ്പ്രദേശം എനിക്കു തരിക. അനാക്യർ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ വിസ്തൃതമെന്നും കോട്ടകെട്ടി ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളവയെന്നും നീ അന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ, എന്നാൽ, യഹോവയുടെ സഹായത്താൽ അവിടന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരെ തുരത്തും.”
And now give me this mountain, of which Jehovah spoke in that day; for thou heardest in that day that Anakim are there, and great fortified cities. If so be Jehovah shall be with me, then I shall dispossess them, as Jehovah said.
13 അപ്പോൾ യോശുവ യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകനായ കാലേബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച് ഹെബ്രോൻ അവന് അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തു;
And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
14 അങ്ങനെ ഹെബ്രോൻ ഇന്നുവരെ കെനിസ്യനായ യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബിന് അവകാശമായിരിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂർണമനസ്സോടെ പിൻതുടർന്നതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ.
Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed Jehovah the God of Israel.
15 ഹെബ്രോനു പണ്ടു കിര്യത്ത്-അർബാ എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു. അനാക്യരിൽ അതിമഹാനായിരുന്നു അർബാ. അങ്ങനെ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് യുദ്ധം മാറി, സമാധാനം കൈവന്നു.
Now the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-Arba; the great man among the Anakim. And the land rested from war.
