യോനാ 2
1 മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു യോനാ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.
Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish’s belly.
2 അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; അവിടന്ന് എനിക്കുത്തരമരുളി. പാതാളത്തിന്റെ അഗാധതയിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ സഹായത്തിനായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവിടന്ന് എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു. (Sheol h7585)
And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, [And] thou heardest my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 ഇതാ, അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ അഗാധതയിലേക്ക്, സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ആഴത്തിലേക്കുതന്നെ ചുഴറ്റിയെറിഞ്ഞു. വൻപ്രവാഹം എന്നെ വലയംചെയ്തു. അങ്ങയുടെ എല്ലാ തിരമാലകളും വൻ‍തിരകളും എന്റെ മുകളിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോയി.
For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
4 ‘അങ്ങയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ ആട്ടിപ്പായിച്ചിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അങ്ങയുടെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിലേക്കുതന്നെ ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും’ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 പ്രാണഭയത്തിലാകുംവിധം ഞാൻ വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുങ്ങിപ്പോയി, ആഴിയുടെ അഗാധത എന്നെ വലയംചെയ്തു, എന്റെ തലയിൽ കടൽപ്പായൽ ചുറ്റിപ്പിടിച്ചു.
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 സമുദ്രത്തിൽ പർവതങ്ങളുടെ അടിവാരംവരെയും ഞാൻ മുങ്ങിപ്പോയി; അവിടെ ഞാൻ ഭൂമിയുടെ അടിത്തട്ടിൽ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും ബന്ധിതനായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും, എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ആ അഗാധതയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ കയറ്റി അങ്ങ് എനിക്കു ജീവൻ തിരികെ നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars [closed] upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.
7 “എന്റെ പ്രാണൻ പൊയ്പ്പോയി എന്നായപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ ഓർത്തു. അങ്ങയുടെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിലേക്കുതന്നെ, എന്റെ പ്രാർഥന ഉയർന്നു.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.
8 “മിഥ്യാമൂർത്തികളെ ഭജിക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങളോടു ദയാലുവായവനെ പരിത്യജിക്കുന്നു.
They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.
9 ഞാനോ, സ്തോത്രാലാപനത്തോടെ അങ്ങേക്ക് യാഗം അർപ്പിക്കും. ഞാൻ നേർന്നതു നിറവേറ്റുകയും ചെയ്യും. രക്ഷവരുന്നത് യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുമാത്രമാണല്ലോ.”
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.
10 തുടർന്ന് യഹോവ മത്സ്യത്തോട് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചപ്പോൾ, അത് യോനായെ കരയിലേക്കു ഛർദിച്ചിട്ടു.
And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
