യോഹന്നാൻ 19
1 അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ അരമനയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ചു.
So Pilate then took Yeshua, and flogged him.
2 സൈനികർ ഒരു മുൾക്കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞുണ്ടാക്കി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ വെച്ചു. പിന്നീട് ഊതനിറമുള്ള ഒരു പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.
3 “യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്നു (പരിഹസിച്ചു) പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് യേശുവിന്റെ കരണത്തടിച്ചു.
And they kept coming up to him and saying, "Greetings, King of the Jews." and they struck him with their hands.
4 പീലാത്തോസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തുവന്നു, “ഞാൻ അയാളിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല!” എന്നും, തുടർന്ന് “അത് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന് ഇതാ ഞാൻ അയാളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.” എന്നും യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, "Look, I am bringing him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him."
5 യേശു മുൾക്കിരീടവും ഊതനിറമുള്ള പുറങ്കുപ്പായവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തുവന്നപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്, “ഇതാ ആ മനുഷ്യൻ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Yeshua came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. And he said to them, "Look, here is the man."
6 പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും അവരുടെ സേവകരും യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ “ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക,” എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. പീലാത്തോസ്, “നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ ഇയാളെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിക്കുക. ഞാൻ ഇയാളിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, "Crucify. Crucify." Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves, and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him."
7 യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ അതിനു മറുപടിയായി, “ഞങ്ങൾക്കൊരു ന്യായപ്രമാണമുണ്ട്. ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു സ്വയം അവകാശപ്പെടുകയാൽ ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അനുസരിച്ച് ഇയാൾ മരണയോഗ്യനാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
The Jewish leaders answered him, "We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
8 ഈ പ്രസ്താവം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് വളരെയധികം ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.
9 അയാൾ വീണ്ടും അരമനയ്ക്കുള്ളിലേക്കു ചെന്ന്, “നീ എവിടെനിന്നുള്ളവൻ?” എന്ന് യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ, യേശു അതിനു മറുപടിയൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Yeshua, "Where are you from?" But Yeshua gave him no answer.
10 പീലാത്തോസ് വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു: “നീ എന്നോടൊന്നും സംസാരിക്കാത്തതെന്ത്? നിന്നെ മോചിപ്പിക്കാനും ക്രൂശിൽ തറപ്പിക്കാനും എനിക്കധികാരമുണ്ടെന്ന് നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലേ?”
Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you not speaking to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?"
11 അതിന് യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു, “മുകളിൽനിന്ന് നൽകപ്പെട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ താങ്കൾക്ക് എന്റെമേൽ ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകുമായിരുന്നില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ താങ്കളുടെപക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതന്നവനാണ് കൂടുതൽ പാപമുള്ളത്.”
Yeshua answered, "You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin."
12 അപ്പോൾമുതൽ യേശുവിനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കാൻ പീലാത്തോസ് പരിശ്രമിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ, “ഈ മനുഷ്യനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാൽ, അങ്ങ് കൈസറുടെ സ്നേഹിതനല്ല. സ്വയം രാജാവെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നവൻ കൈസറോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, saying, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar."
13 ഈ വാക്കുകൾ പീലാത്തോസ് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ, യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; എബ്രായഭാഷയിൽ ഗബ്ബഥാ, അതായത്, കൽത്തളം എന്നു പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തുവന്ന് ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഉപവിഷ്ടനായി.
When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Yeshua out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called "The Pavement," but in Hebrew, "Gabbatha."
14 ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചത് പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ തലേദിവസമായ ഒരുക്കനാളിന്റെ മധ്യാഹ്നസമയത്ത് ആയിരുന്നു. പീലാത്തോസ് യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോട്, “ഇതാ നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about noon. He said to the Jewish leaders, "Look, here is your King."
15 എന്നാൽ അവർ, “അവനെ കൊന്നുകളക, കൊന്നുകളക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക” എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. “നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാൻ ക്രൂശിലേറ്റണമോ?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. “ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈസറല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല,” പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
They shouted, "Away with him. Away with him. Crucify him." Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar."
16 ഒടുവിൽ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിക്കാനായി അവർക്കു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു. പടയാളികൾ യേശുവിനെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി.
So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Yeshua.
17 യേശു തന്റെ ക്രൂശു സ്വയം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ട്, അരാമ്യഭാഷയിൽ തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം എന്നർഥം വരുന്ന ഗൊൽഗോഥാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കുപോയി.
And he went out, carrying the cross himself, to the place called "The Place of a Skull," which is called in Hebrew, "Gagulta,"
18 അവിടെ അവർ, യേശുവിനെ മധ്യത്തിലും വേറെ രണ്ടുപേരെ ഇരുവശത്തുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Yeshua in the middle.
19 പീലാത്തോസ് ഒരു കുറ്റപത്രം എഴുതി ക്രൂശിൽ പതിപ്പിച്ചു. നസറായനായ യേശു, യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, എന്നായിരുന്നു അത്.
Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, "YESHUA THE NATSRAYA, THE KING OF THE JEWS."
20 യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിനു സമീപമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും ആ മേലെഴുത്ത് എബ്രായ, ലത്തീൻ, ഗ്രീക്ക് എന്നീ ഭാഷകളിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും യെഹൂദരിൽ പലരും അതു വായിച്ചു.
Therefore many Jews read this title, for the place where Yeshua was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.
21 യെഹൂദരുടെ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട്, “‘യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്’ എന്നല്ല, ‘യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ് ഞാനാണ് എന്ന് ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു,’ എന്നാണ് എഴുതേണ്ടത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
The chief priests of the Jewish people therefore said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but, 'he said, I am King of the Jews.'"
22 അതിന് “ഞാൻ എഴുതിയത് എഴുതി,” എന്നു പീലാത്തോസ് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."
23 യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചതിനുശേഷം പടയാളികൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ, ഓരോരുത്തനും ലഭിക്കത്തക്കവിധം നാലായി ഭാഗിച്ചു; പുറങ്കുപ്പായം അവർ ഭാഗിച്ചില്ല; അതു തുന്നൽ ഇല്ലാതെ മേൽതൊട്ട് അടിവരെ മുഴുവനും നെയ്തെടുത്തതായിരുന്നു.
Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Yeshua, took his clothes and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 “ഇത് നാം കീറരുത്, ആർക്കു കിട്ടുമെന്ന് നറുക്കിട്ടു തീരുമാനിക്കാം,” എന്ന് അവർ പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു. “എന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു. എന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായത്തിനായവർ നറുക്കിട്ടു,” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിറവേറുന്നതിനാണ് സൈനികർ ഇങ്ങനെയെല്ലാം ചെയ്തത്.
Then they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, "They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast a lot." Therefore the soldiers did these things.
25 ക്രൂശിനരികെ യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ലെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.
But there were standing by the cross of Yeshua his mother, and his mother's sister, Maryam the wife of Qalyopa, and Maryam Magdelaitha.
26 അമ്മയും താൻ സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും സമീപത്തുനിൽക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട് യേശു അമ്മയോട്, “സ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകൻ!” എന്നും
Therefore when Yeshua saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, "Woman, look, your son."
27 ശിഷ്യനോട്, “ഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ!” എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ സമയംമുതൽ ആ ശിഷ്യൻ യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മയെ സ്വന്തംഭവനത്തിൽ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
Then he said to the disciple, "Look, your mother." From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.
28 അതിനുശേഷം, സകലതും പൂർത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞ്, തിരുവെഴുത്തു പൂർത്തീകരിക്കുന്നതിനായി യേശു, “എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
After this, Yeshua, knowing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."
29 അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറച്ച് ഒരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിരുന്നു. അവർ ഒരു സ്പോഞ്ച് അതിൽ മുക്കി ഈസോപ്പുചെടിയുടെ തണ്ടിന്മേലാക്കി യേശുവിന്റെ വായോടടുപ്പിച്ചു.
A vessel full of sour wine was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.
30 അതു കുടിച്ചശേഷം യേശു “സകലതും നിവൃത്തിയായി!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്ച്ചു തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
When Yeshua therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished." He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.
31 അന്ന് പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ തലേദിവസമായ ഒരുക്കത്തിന്റെ ദിവസവും പിറ്റേന്ന് വളരെ സവിശേഷതകളുള്ള ഒരു ശബ്ബത്തും ആയിരുന്നു. ശബ്ബത്തുനാളിൽ ശവശരീരങ്ങൾ ക്രൂശിൽ കിടക്കുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതിന് അവരുടെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിപ്പിച്ചു താഴെയിറക്കണമെന്ന് യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
Therefore the Jewish leaders, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 അതുകൊണ്ടു പടയാളികൾ വന്ന്, യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട രണ്ടുപേരുടെയും കാലുകൾ ആദ്യം ഒടിച്ചു.
Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;
33 അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടു കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചില്ല.
but when they came to Yeshua, and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
34 എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളിൽ ഒരുവൻ കുന്തംകൊണ്ട് യേശുവിന്റെ പാർശ്വത്തിൽ കുത്തി. ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറത്തേക്കൊഴുകി.
However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 ഇതു കണ്ടയാൾതന്നെയാണ് ഈ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യംതന്നെ; താൻ പറയുന്നതു സത്യം എന്ന് അയാൾ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിനാണ് അയാൾ ഇതു സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്.
He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
36 “അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിൽ ഒന്നും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകുകയില്ല,” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിറവേറുന്നതിന് ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.
For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "A bone of him will not be broken."
37 “തങ്ങൾ കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും,” എന്നു വേറൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.
Again another Scripture says, "They will look on him whom they pierced."
38 അതിനുശേഷം, യെഹൂദനേതാക്കന്മാരോടുള്ള ഭയംനിമിത്തം രഹസ്യശിഷ്യനായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന അരിമഥ്യക്കാരൻ യോസേഫ്, പീലാത്തോസിനോട് യേശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം വിട്ടുതരണമെന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അനുവാദത്തോടെ അയാൾ വന്നു മൃതശരീരം എടുത്തു.
After these things, Yauseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Yeshua, but secretly for fear of the Jewish leaders, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Yeshua. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.
39 മുമ്പൊരിക്കൽ രാത്രിയിൽ യേശുവിനെ സന്ദർശിച്ച നിക്കോദേമൊസും അയാളുടെകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മീറയും ചന്ദനവുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള മിശ്രിതം ഏകദേശം മുപ്പത്തിനാല് കിലോഗ്രാം നിക്കോദേമൊസ് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
Niqadimus, who at first came to Yeshua by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.
40 ഇരുവരുംകൂടി യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു, യെഹൂദരുടെ ശവസംസ്കാര ആചാരമനുസരിച്ച് ആ സുഗന്ധമിശ്രിതം പുരട്ടി ശവക്കച്ചയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു.
So they took the body of Yeshua, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to Jewish burial practice.
41 യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്ത് ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തിൽ, ആരെയും ഒരിക്കലും അടക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever yet been placed.
42 അന്ന് യെഹൂദരുടെ പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ആയിരുന്നതിനാലും ആ കല്ലറ സമീപത്തായിരുന്നതിനാലും അവർ യേശുവിനെ അവിടെ സംസ്കരിച്ചു.
Then because of the Jewish Preparation Day (for the tomb was nearby) they put Yeshua there.
