യോഹന്നാൻ 16

1 “നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിശ്വാസത്യാഗം സംഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കാനാണ് ഞാൻ ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്.

"I have told you all this so that you may not stumble.

2 യെഹൂദർ അവരുടെ പള്ളികളിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭ്രഷ്ട് കൽപ്പിക്കും; നിങ്ങളെ കൊല്ലുന്നവർ, ദൈവത്തിന് ഒരു വഴിപാടു കഴിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കരുതുന്ന കാലം വരും.

"They will excommunicate you from their synagogues; indeed the time is coming when any one who kills you will suppose that he is doing God’s service.

3 അവർ പിതാവിനെയോ എന്നെയോ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അങ്ങനെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.

"And they will do these things because they have not known my Father, nor me.

4 ഇതു സംഭവിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത്, ഇതെല്ലാം ഞാൻ നേരത്തേതന്നെ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവയാണല്ലോ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഓർക്കേണ്ടതിനാണ് നിങ്ങളോട് ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഇതു പറയുന്നത്. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെത്തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ് നേരത്തേ ഇതു പറയാതിരുന്നത്.

"But I have told you these things, that when the time comes you may remember that I told you about them, myself. I did not, however, speak of these things at first, because I was with you.

5 ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു പോകുകയാണ്. എങ്കിലും, ‘ഞാൻ എവിടെ പോകുന്നുവെന്ന്’ നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരും എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നില്ലല്ലോ?

"But now I go my way to Him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

6 ഞാൻ ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം പറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം ദുഃഖത്താൽ നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

"but sorrow has filled your hearts because I have told you these things.

7 എന്നാൽ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു സത്യം പറയട്ടെ: നിങ്ങളുടെ നന്മയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണു ഞാൻ പോകുന്നത്. ഞാൻ പോകാതിരുന്നാൽ ആശ്വാസദായകൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വരികയില്ല; ഞാൻ പോയാലോ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുത്തേക്കയയ്ക്കും.

"Yet - I am telling you the truth - my going is for your good. For unless I go away the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart I will send him unto you.

8 അവിടന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ പാപം, നീതി, ന്യായവിധി എന്നിവയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് മാനവരാശിക്ക് ബോധ്യം വരുത്തും.

"And he, when he comes, will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of judgment;

9 പാപത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ബോധ്യം വരുത്തും, കാരണം, മാനവർ എന്നിൽ വിശ്വാസം അർപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ല.

"of sin, because they do not believe in me;

10 നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭ്യമാകുന്ന ദൈവനീതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ബോധ്യം വരുത്തും, കാരണം പിതാവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിലേക്കു ഞാൻ പോകുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഇനിയും എന്നെ കാണാൻ കഴിയുകയുമില്ല.

11 ന്യായവിധിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ബോധ്യം വരുത്തും, കാരണം, ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ അധിപതി ന്യായംവിധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

"because the Prince of this world has been judged.

12 “ഇനി വളരെ അധികം കാര്യങ്ങൾ എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയാനുണ്ട്. എങ്കിലും അവ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാനുള്ള കഴിവ് ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കില്ല.

"I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them just now.

13 എന്നാൽ, സത്യത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു വരുമ്പോൾ, അവിടന്നു നിങ്ങളെ സകലസത്യത്തിലേക്കും നയിക്കും. അവിടന്നു സ്വയം സംസാരിക്കാതെ താൻ കേൾക്കുന്നതുമാത്രം പറയുകയും ഇനി സംഭവിക്കാനുള്ളവ നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയിച്ചുതരികയും ചെയ്യും.

"But when he is come, that Spirit of Truth, he will guide you into the whole truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but all that he hears he will speak, and will make known to you that which is to come.

14 അവിടന്ന് എനിക്കുള്ളതിൽനിന്നെടുത്ത് നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയിച്ചുതരുന്നതിലൂടെ എന്നെ മഹത്ത്വപ്പെടുത്തും.

"He will glorify me; for he will take of what is mine and will make known to you.

15 പിതാവിനുള്ളതെല്ലാം എന്റെ വകയാണ്; അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ആശ്വാസപ്രദായകൻ എനിക്കുള്ളതിൽനിന്ന് എടുത്ത് നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞത്.”

"Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said that he will take of what is mine and make it known to you.

16 “അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല. എന്നാൽ, വീണ്ടും അൽപ്പസമയത്തിനുശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണും.”

"In a little while you shall behold me no more; and again in a little while you shall see me, because I am going to the Father."

17 ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ചിലർ പരസ്പരം ചോദിച്ചു, “‘അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ലെന്നും, എന്നാൽ വീണ്ടും അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിയുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണുമെന്നും, പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നെന്നും പറയുന്നതിന്റെ അർഥമെന്താണ്?’

At this some of his disciples said among themselves. "What does he mean by telling us, ‘In a little while you shall behold me no more; and again in a little while you shall see me,’ and ‘because I am going to the Father’?"

18 ‘അൽപ്പസമയം’ എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നതിന്റെ അർഥം നമുക്കു മനസ്സിലാകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ?”

So they kept asking. "What does that ‘little while’ mean of which he speaks? We do not know what he is talking about."

19 അവർ ഇതേപ്പറ്റി തന്നോടു ചോദിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നെന്ന് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ട് യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “‘അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല, എന്നാൽ പിന്നെയും അൽപ്പസമയം കഴിയുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാണും,’ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ അർഥമെന്താണെന്നാണോ നിങ്ങൾ പരസ്പരം ചോദിക്കുന്നത്?

Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and said. "Are you questioning one another about my saying, ‘A little while and you shall behold me no more, and again a little while you shall see me’?

20 സത്യം സത്യമായി ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയട്ടെ: ലോകജനത ആനന്ദിക്കും; നിങ്ങളോ കരയുകയും വിലപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. നിങ്ങൾ ദുഃഖിക്കും, എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഃഖം ആനന്ദമായി മാറും.

"I tell you solemnly that you will be weeping and wailing while the world is rejoicing; you will be grief-stricken, but your grief shall be turned into gladness.

21 ഒരു കുഞ്ഞിനെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീ, തന്റെ പ്രസവസമയം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് വേദനപ്പെടുന്നു. എന്നാൽ കുഞ്ഞു പിറന്നതിനുശേഷം, ഒരു വ്യക്തി ലോകത്തിലേക്കു പിറന്നതിന്റെ ആനന്ദത്താൽ അവൾ തന്റെ വേദന പിന്നെ ഓർക്കുന്നില്ല.

"A woman in labor has grief because her hour is come; but when she has given birth to the babe she no longer remembers her anguish, because of joy that a child has been born into the world.

22 നിങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യവും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ. ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സങ്കടത്തിന്റെ സമയം. എന്നാൽ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടും കാണുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കും. നിങ്ങളുടെ ആനന്ദം ആരും എടുത്തുകളയുകയില്ല.

"So you also have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy shall no man snatch away from you.

23 ആ ദിവസം വരുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കെന്നോട് ഒന്നുംതന്നെ യാചിക്കേണ്ട ആവശ്യം വരികയില്ല; പകരം, എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ യാചിക്കുന്നതെന്തും പിതാവ് നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകും എന്ന് സത്യം സത്യമായി ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

"And in that day you will ask me no questions. Most solemnly I tell you that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

24 ഇതുവരെയും നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ ഒന്നും അപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. അപേക്ഷിക്കുക, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അതു ലഭിക്കും; അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ആനന്ദം പരിപൂർണമായിത്തീരും.

"Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

25 “ഞാൻ ആലങ്കാരികഭാഷയിലാണ് നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ, ആലങ്കാരികഭാഷയിൽ അല്ലാതെ ഞാൻ എന്റെ പിതാവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സ്പഷ്ടമായി സംസാരിക്കുന്ന സമയം വരുന്നു.

"I have told you these things in figures; but the time is coming when I shall no longer speak in figures, but will tell you about the Father in plain words.

26 അന്നു നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ അപേക്ഷിക്കും. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പിതാവിനോട് അപേക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറയുന്നില്ല.

"In that day you shall pray in my name; and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father on your behalf;

27 കാരണം, പിതാവും നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ.

"for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and believed that I came forth from the God.

28 ഞാൻ പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് ഈ ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ ലോകംവിട്ടു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങുന്നു.”

"I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world. again, I am leaving the world, and am going to the Father."

29 “ഇപ്പോൾ അങ്ങ് ആലങ്കാരികമായിട്ടല്ല; സ്പഷ്ടമായിത്തന്നെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞു.

"Ah," said the disciples, "now you are speaking plain language, and not using figures.

30 “അങ്ങ് സർവജ്ഞാനിയാണെന്നും അങ്ങയോട് ആരും ഒന്നും ചോദിക്കേണ്ട ആവശ്യമില്ലെന്നും ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങ് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് വന്നു എന്ന് ഇതിനാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.”

Now we are sure that you know all things, and have no need for any one to question you; by this we believe that you came forth from God."

31 “ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നോ?” എന്ന് യേശു ചോദിച്ചു.

"Do you now believe?" said Jesus;

32 “എന്നാൽ, നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തനും അവരവരുടെ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലേക്കു ചിതറിപ്പോകുകയും എന്നെ ഏകനായി വിടുകയുംചെയ്യുന്ന സമയം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അതേ, വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഏകനല്ല, കാരണം പിതാവ് എന്നോടൊപ്പം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

"behold the hour approaches and is already come when you will be scattered, each man to his home, and will leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33 “നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്നിൽ സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ ഇതു നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വലിയ കഷ്ടത നേരിടേണ്ടിവരും. എങ്കിലും ധൈര്യപ്പെടുക; ഞാൻ ലോകത്തെ ജയിച്ചടക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.”

"I have said all this to you that in me you might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be courageous; I have overcome the world."
