യോഹന്നാൻ 12
1 പെസഹയ്ക്ക് ആറുദിവസം മുമ്പ് യേശു ബെഥാന്യയിൽ എത്തി. അവിടെയാണ് മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് യേശു ഉയിർപ്പിച്ച ലാസർ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത്.
Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came unto Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from among the dead.
2 അവിടെ യേശുവിനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു അത്താഴവിരുന്ന് ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു. മാർത്ത ആതിഥ്യശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. ലാസറും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം പന്തിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
So they made for him a supper, there; and, Martha, was ministering, but, Lazarus, was one of them who were reclining with him.
3 അപ്പോൾ മറിയ വിലയേറിയ സ്വച്ഛജടാമാഞ്ചിതൈലം അരലിറ്ററോളം എടുത്ത് യേശുവിന്റെ പാദങ്ങളിൽ പകർന്നിട്ട് അവളുടെ തലമുടികൊണ്ടു തുടയ്ക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. തൈലത്തിന്റെ സൗരഭ്യം വീടുമുഴുവൻ നിറഞ്ഞു.
Mary, therefore, taking a pound of pure nard perfume, very precious, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped, with her hair, his feet; and, the house, was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 യേശുവിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളും പിന്നീട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തവനുമായ യൂദാ ഈസ്കര്യോത്ത് ഇതിൽ നീരസം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്,
[But] Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, he that was about to deliver him up, saith—
5 “മുന്നൂറുദിനാർ വിലമതിക്കുന്ന ഈ സുഗന്ധതൈലം വിറ്റ് ആ പണം ദരിദ്രർക്കു കൊടുക്കാമായിരുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Why was, this perfume, not sold for three hundred denaries, and given unto the destitute?
6 ദരിദ്രരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള കരുതൽകൊണ്ടല്ല, അവൻ കള്ളനായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അതു പറഞ്ഞത്; പണസഞ്ചിസൂക്ഷിപ്പുകാരനായിരുന്ന അവൻ അതിൽനിന്ന് പണം സ്വന്തം ഉപയോഗത്തിന് എടുത്തുവന്നിരുന്നു.
Howbeit he said this, not that, for the destitute, he cared, but because, a thief, he was, and holding, the bag, used to carry away, what was cast therein.
7 അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യേശു പറഞ്ഞു: “അവളെ വെറുതേവിടുക, എന്റെ ശവസംസ്കാരദിവസത്തിനായി അവൾ ഈ സുഗന്ധതൈലം സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നു കരുതിയാൽമതി.
Jesus, therefore, said—Let her alone, that, for the day of my burial, she may observe it;
8 ദരിദ്രർ എപ്പോഴും നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂടെത്തന്നെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയില്ല.”
For, the destitute, always, have ye with you, whereas, me, not always, have ye.
9 യേശു ഉണ്ടെന്നറിഞ്ഞ് യെഹൂദരുടെ ഒരു വലിയകൂട്ടം അവിടെ എത്തി. യേശുവിനെമാത്രമല്ല, അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്നുയിർപ്പിച്ച ലാസറിനെയുംകൂടി കാണുന്നതിനാണ് അവർ വന്നത്.
The great multitude of the Jews, therefore, got to know that he was, there, and came, not on account of Jesus only, but that, Lazarus also, they might see, whom he had raised from among the dead.
10 അതുകൊണ്ട് പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ യേശുവിനോടൊപ്പം ലാസറിനെയും വധിക്കാൻ ആലോചിച്ചു.
But the High-priests took counsel, that Lazarus also, they might put to death;
11 കാരണം, അയാൾനിമിത്തം അനേകം യെഹൂദർ അവരെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് യേശുവിന്റെ അനുയായികളാകുകയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
because, many of the Jews, by reason of him, were withdrawing, and believing on Jesus.
12 പിറ്റേദിവസം, പെരുന്നാളിനു വന്നിരുന്ന വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടം, യേശു ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു വരുന്നു എന്നുള്ള വാർത്ത കേട്ടു.
On the morrow, the great multitude that had come unto the feast, hearing that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,
13 അവർ ഈന്തപ്പനയുടെ കുരുത്തോലകൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്: “ഹോശന്നാ!” “കർത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വരുന്നവൻ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ!” “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ!” എന്ന് ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and began crying aloud—Hosanna! Blessed is he that is coming in the name of the Lord, —even the King of Israel!
14 യേശു ഒരു കഴുതക്കുട്ടിയെ കണ്ട് അതിന്റെ പുറത്തുകയറി ഇരുന്നു.
And Jesus, finding a young ass, took his seat thereon, just as it is written—
15 “സീയോൻപുത്രീ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട, ഇതാ നിന്റെ രാജാവ് കഴുതക്കുട്ടിമേൽ കയറിവരുന്നു,” എന്ന് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നെ.
Do not fear, O daughter of Zion! Lo! thy king, cometh, sitting upon the colt of an ass.
16 ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതെല്ലാറ്റിന്റെയും അർഥം ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്ക് ആദ്യം മനസ്സിലായില്ല. ഈ പ്രവചനം അദ്ദേഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതെന്നും അതിനനുസൃതമായിട്ടാണ് അവർ ഈ ചെയ്തതെല്ലാമെന്നും യേശുവിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വീകരണത്തിനു ശേഷംമാത്രമേ അവർ ഗ്രഹിച്ചുള്ളൂ.
These things, his disciples noticed not, at the first; but, when Jesus was glorified, then, remembered they that, these things, had, for him, been written, —and that, these things, they had done unto him.
17 മരിച്ചവനായിരുന്ന ലാസറിനെ, യേശുകർത്താവ് തന്റെ വാക്കാൽ, മരണത്തിൽനിന്നുയിർപ്പിച്ച്, കല്ലറയ്ക്കു പുറത്തു വരുത്തിയതിന് സാക്ഷികളായിരുന്ന ജനം ആ വാർത്ത പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു.
The multitude, therefore, that was with him when he called, Lazarus, out of the tomb, and raised him from among the dead, was bearing witness.
18 അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്ത ഈ മഹാത്ഭുതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു വലിയ ജനാവലിതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ വന്നുചേർന്നു.
On this account, the multitude met him also, because they heard that he had done, this sign.
19 അപ്പോൾ, “നോക്കൂ, നമ്മുടെ പരിശ്രമങ്ങളെല്ലാം വിഫലമാകുകയാണല്ലോ; ലോകം മുഴുവൻ അയാളുടെ അനുഗാമികളായിരിക്കുന്നു!” എന്നു പരീശന്മാർ പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു.
the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves—Ye observe that ye are profiting nothing: See! the world, after him, hath gone away.
20 പെസഹാപ്പെരുന്നാളിന് ആരാധനയ്ക്കായി ജെറുശലേമിൽ വന്നവരിൽ ചില ഗ്രീക്കുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now there were certain Greeks, from among them who were coming up that they might worship in the feast.
21 അവർ ഒരു അഭ്യർഥനയുമായി ഗലീലയിലെ ബേത്ത്സയിദക്കാരനായ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, “യജമാനനേ, ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് യേശുവിനെ കാണണമെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്.”
These, therefore, came unto Philip, him who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, —and were requesting him, saying—Sir! We desire to see, Jesus.
22 ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ചെന്ന് ഇക്കാര്യം അന്ത്രയോസിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അന്ത്രയോസും ഫിലിപ്പൊസുംകൂടി യേശുവിനെ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചു.
Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew: Andrew and Philip come, and tell Jesus.
23 അപ്പോൾ യേശു പറഞ്ഞു: “മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ മഹത്ത്വീകരിക്കപ്പെടാനുള്ള സമയം വന്നുചേർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
But, Jesus, answereth them, saying—The hour hath come, that the Son of Man should be glorified!
24 സത്യം സത്യമായി ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയട്ടെ: ഗോതമ്പുമണി നിലത്തുവീണു ചാകുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ അത് ഒരു ഗോതമ്പുമണിയായിത്തന്നെ ഇരിക്കും; അത് ചാകുന്നെങ്കിലോ, ധാരാളം വിളവുണ്ടാകും.
Verily! Verily, I say unto you: Except, the kernel of wheat, shall fall into the ground, and die, it, alone, abideth; but, if it die, much fruit, it beareth.
25 സ്വന്തം ജീവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നയാൾ അതിനെ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തും; ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ സ്വന്തം ജീവനെ വെറുക്കുന്നയാൾ നിത്യജീവനുവേണ്ടി അതിനെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. (aiōnios g166)
He that loveth his life, loseth it; but, he that hateth his life, in this world, unto life age-abiding, shall guard it. (aiōnios g166)
26 എന്നെ സേവിക്കുന്നയാൾ എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കണം. ഞാൻ ആയിരിക്കുന്നിടത്തുതന്നെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കുന്നയാളും ആയിരിക്കും. എന്നെ സേവിക്കുന്നയാളിനെ എന്റെ പിതാവും ആദരിക്കും.
If, with me, anyone be ministering, with me, let him be following; and, where, I, am, there, my minister also, shall be. If anyone, with me, be ministering, the Father, will honour him.
27 “ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഹൃദയം കലങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ എന്താണു പറയേണ്ടത്? ‘പിതാവേ, ഈ മണിക്കൂറുകളിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചാലും’ എന്നോ? അല്ല, ഇതിനുവേണ്ടിത്തന്നെയാണല്ലോ ഞാൻ ഈ മണിക്കൂറിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
Now, is my soul troubled, —and what can I say? Father! save me from this hour? But, on this account, came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name!
28 പിതാവേ, അവിടത്തെ നാമം മഹത്ത്വപ്പെടുത്തണമേ!” അപ്പോൾ സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന്, “ഞാൻ മഹത്ത്വപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനിയും മഹത്ത്വപ്പെടുത്തും” എന്നൊരു അശരീരിയുണ്ടായി.
There came, therefore, a voice out of heaven—I both have glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനസമൂഹത്തിൽ ചിലർ ആ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടിട്ട് “ഒരു ഇടിമുഴക്കമുണ്ടായി,” എന്നും മറ്റുചിലർ “ഒരു ദൈവദൂതൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു സംസാരിച്ചു,” എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.
[So], the multitude that was standing by, and heard it, were saying—It hath, thundered. Others, were saying—A messenger, unto him, hath spoken.
30 എന്നാൽ, യേശു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഈ ശബ്ദമുണ്ടായത് എനിക്കുവേണ്ടിയല്ല, നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണ്.
Jesus answered, and said—Not for my sake, hath this voice come, but, for your sake.
31 ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ ലോകത്തിന്മേൽ ന്യായവിധിനടത്താനുള്ള സമയമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ അധിപതി നിഷ്കാസിതനാകും.
Now, is there, a judging, of this world, —Now, the ruler of this world, shall be cast out;
32 ഞാൻ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്ന് ഉയർത്തപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ സകലമനുഷ്യരെയും എന്നിലേക്ക് ആകർഷിക്കും.”
And, I, if I be lifted up out of the earth, will draw, all, unto myself.
33 തന്റെ മരണവിധത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സൂചന നൽകുന്നതിനായിരുന്നു യേശു ഇതു പറഞ്ഞത്.
But, this, he was saying, signifying, by what manner of death, he was about to die.
34 ഇതു കേട്ട ജനക്കൂട്ടം, “ക്രിസ്തു എന്നേക്കും ജീവിക്കുമെന്നാണല്ലോ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽനിന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടുള്ളത്. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, ‘മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ ഉയർത്തപ്പെടേണ്ടതാണെന്ന് അങ്ങു പറയുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?’ ആരാണ് ഈ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. (aiōn g165)
The multitude, therefore, answered him—We, have heard, out of the law, that, the Christ, abideth evermore; How then dost, thou, say, —It behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man? (aiōn g165)
35 അപ്പോൾ യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇനി അൽപ്പകാലംകൂടിമാത്രമേ പ്രകാശം നിങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യേ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയുള്ളൂ. പ്രകാശം ഉള്ളേടത്തോളംകാലം, അന്ധകാരം നിങ്ങളെ കീഴടക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ്, പ്രകാശത്തിൽത്തന്നെ നടക്കുക; അന്ധകാരത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നയാൾക്ക് ഒരു ദിശാബോധവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയില്ല.
Jesus, therefore, said unto them—Yet a little while, the light, is, among you: Walk, while ye have, the light, lest, darkness, on you should lay hold; and, he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he drifteth.
36 പ്രകാശം നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമീപം ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ അതിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചാൽ, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ മക്കളായിത്തീരാൻ കഴിയും.” ഇതു പറഞ്ഞശേഷം യേശു അവരെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
While, the light, ye have, believe on the light, that, sons of light, ye may become. These things, spake Jesus, —and, departing, was hid from them.
37 യെഹൂദരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ യേശു ഇത്രയേറെ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തിട്ടും അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല;
And, although such signs, as these, he had done before them, they were not believing on him: —
38 “കർത്താവേ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ സന്ദേശം ആർ വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു? കർത്താവിന്റെ ഭുജം ആർക്കു വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു?” എന്ന് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പ്രവചിച്ചത് നിവൃത്തിയായി.
that, the word of Isaiah the prophet, might be fulfilled, which said—Lord! who believed, what we have heard? And, the arm of the Lord, to whom, was it revealed?
39 അവർക്ക് വിശ്വസിക്കാൻ കഴിയാതിരുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് യെശയ്യാവ് മറ്റൊരിടത്ത് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു:
On this account, they could not believe, because, again, said Isaiah—
40 “കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണുകയോ ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയോ എന്നിലേക്കുതിരിഞ്ഞ് സൗഖ്യംപ്രാപിക്കാൻ ഇടവരികയോ ചെയ്യാത്തവിധം അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ അന്ധമാക്കുകയും ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.”
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; lest they should see with their eyes, and should understand with their heart, and should turn, —and I should heal them.
41 യേശുവിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വം കണ്ട് അവിടത്തെപ്പറ്റി വർണിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് യെശയ്യാവ് ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചത്.
These things, said Isaiah, because he saw his glory, and spake concerning him.
42 അതേസമയം, ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥഗണത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട പലരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചെങ്കിലും യെഹൂദപ്പള്ളിയിൽനിന്ന് പരീശന്മാർ തങ്ങൾക്കു ഭ്രഷ്ട് കൽപ്പിക്കും എന്നു ഭയന്ന് അവർ പരസ്യമായി തങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസം ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞില്ല.
Nevertheless, however, even from among the rulers, many believed on him; but, because of the Pharisees, they were not confessing him, lest, excommunicants from the synagogue, they should be made;
43 കാരണം, അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ആദരവിനെക്കാൾ മനുഷ്യരിൽനിന്നുള്ള ആദരവ് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു.
for they loved the glory of men, more than the glory of God.
44 യേശു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “എന്നിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നയാൾ എന്നിൽമാത്രമല്ല, എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവിലും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
And, Jesus, cried aloud, and said—He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me;
45 എന്നെ കാണുന്നയാൾ എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവിനെയും കാണുന്നു.
And, he that vieweth me, vieweth him that sent me.
46 എന്നിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ആരും അന്ധകാരത്തിൽ വസിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനു ഞാൻ പ്രകാശമായി ലോകത്തിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
I, a light, into the world have come, that, no one who believeth on me, in darkness, should abide.
47 “എന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ടും അത് അനുസരിക്കാത്തയാളെ ഞാനല്ല ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നത്; ലോകത്തെ വിധിക്കാനല്ല, രക്ഷിക്കാനാണ് ഞാൻ വന്നത്.
And, if anyone shall hearken unto my sayings, and not guard them, I, am not judging him; for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
48 എന്നെ തിരസ്കരിക്കുകയും എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ സ്വീകരിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവനെ വിധിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിധികർത്താവുണ്ട്; ഞാൻ സംസാരിച്ച എന്റെ വചനംതന്നെ അന്തിമന്യായവിധിനാളിൽ അയാളെ വിധിക്കും.
He that setteth me aside, and receiveth not my sayings, hath that which is to judge him: The word that I spake, that, will judge him, in the last day.
49 ഞാൻ സ്വന്തം ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഞാൻ എന്തു പറയണമെന്നും എങ്ങനെ പറയണമെന്നും എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
Because, I, out of myself, spake not, but, the Father who sent me, hath, himself, given me commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 അവിടത്തെ കൽപ്പന നിത്യജീവനിലേക്ക് എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്നത് പിതാവ് എന്നോട് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതുമാത്രമാണ്.” (aiōnios g166)
And I know that, his commandment, is, life age-abiding; The things, therefore, which I speak, just as the Father hath told me, so, I speak. (aiōnios g166)
