ഇയ്യോബ് 4

1 അപ്പോൾ തേമാന്യനായ എലീഫാസ് ഇപ്രകാരം ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു:

Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said: —

2 “നിന്നോട് ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു വാക്കു സംസാരിക്കാൻ തുനിഞ്ഞാൽ നീ അക്ഷമനാകുമോ? എന്നാൽ ആർക്കു സംസാരിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?

If one attempt a word unto thee, wilt thou be impatient? But, to restrain speech, who, can endure?

3 നീ ധാരാളംപേരെ ഉദ്ബോധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്; ശക്തിക്ഷയിച്ച കൈകളെ നീ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളതും ഓർക്കുക.

Lo! thou hast admonished many, and, slack hands, hast thou been wont to uphold:

4 ഇടറുന്നവരെ നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്തി; ദുർബലമായ കാൽമുട്ടുകൾക്കു നീ ബലം പകർന്നു.

Him that was stumbling, have thy words raised up, and, sinking knees, hast thou strengthened.

5 ഇപ്പോഴിതാ, ദുരന്തം നിന്നെ വേട്ടയാടിയിരിക്കുന്നു, നിന്റെ ധൈര്യം ചോർന്നുപോകുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിന്നെ ആഞ്ഞടിച്ചപ്പോൾ നീ പരിഭ്രാന്തനായിരിക്കുന്നു.

But, now, it cometh upon thee, and thou despairest, It smiteth even thee, and thou art dismayed.

6 നിന്റെ ദൈവഭക്തി നിനക്ക് ആത്മവിശ്വാസം നൽകുന്നില്ലേ? നിന്റെ നിർമലമാർഗങ്ങളല്ലേ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യാശ നൽകുന്നത്?

Is not, thy reverence, thy confidence? And is not, thy hope, the very integrity of thy ways?

7 “ഓർത്തുനോക്കുക: നിഷ്കളങ്കരായ ആരെങ്കിലും നശിച്ചുപോയിട്ടുണ്ടോ? പരമാർഥികൾ എപ്പോഴെങ്കിലും മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

Remember, I pray thee, who, being innocent, hath perished, or when, the upright, have been cut off.

8 എന്റെ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിൽ, അനീതി ഉഴുകയും ദോഷം വിതയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർ അതുതന്നെ കൊയ്തുകൂട്ടുന്നു.

So far as I have seen, They who plow for iniquity and sow misery, reap the same:

9 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവർ നശിക്കുന്നു; അവിടത്തെ കോപാഗ്നിയിൽ അവർ വെന്തുവെണ്ണീറാകുന്നു.

By the blast of GOD, they perish, And, by the breath of his nostrils, are they consumed:

10 സിംഹം അലറുകയും മുരളുകയും ചെയ്തേക്കാം, എന്നിട്ടും ഭീകരസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ദംഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾ തകർക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

[Notwithstanding] the roaring of the lion, and the noise of the howling lion, yet, the teeth of the fierce lions, are broken:

11 സിംഹം ഇര കിട്ടായ്കയാൽ നശിച്ചുപോകുകയും സിംഹിയുടെ കുട്ടികൾ ചിതറിപ്പോകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

The strong lion perishing for lack of prey, Even the whelps of the lioness, are scattered.

12 “ഇപ്പോൾ ഒരു വാർത്ത രഹസ്യമായി എന്റെ ചെവിയിലെത്തി; അതിന്റെ മന്ത്രണം എന്റെ കാതുകളിൽ പതിച്ചു.

But, unto me, something was brought by stealth, —and mine ear caught a whispering of the same:

13 രാത്രിയിൽ അസ്വസ്ഥചിന്തകൾ ഉളവാക്കുന്ന സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ, മനുഷ്യർ ഗാഢനിദ്രയിൽ ആണ്ടുപോകുന്ന നേരത്തുതന്നെ,

When there were thoughts, from visions of the night, —When deep sleep falleth upon men,

14 ഭീതിയും നടുക്കവും എന്നെ പിടികൂടി; എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെയെല്ലാം അതു പിടിച്ചുകുലുക്കി.

Dread, came upon me, and trembling, The multitude of my bones, it put in dread:

15 ഒരാത്മാവ് എന്റെ മുഖത്തുകൂടി തെന്നിമാറി; എന്റെ ശരീരം രോമാഞ്ചമണിഞ്ഞു.

Then, a spirit, over my face, floated along, The hair of my flesh bristled-up:

16 അതു നിശ്ചലമായി നിന്നു; എങ്കിലും ആ രൂപം എന്താണെന്നു തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ എനിക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഒരു രൂപം എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾക്കുമുമ്പിൽ നിലകൊണ്ടു; നിശ്ശബ്ദതയിൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു പതിഞ്ഞസ്വരം കേട്ടു:

It stood still, but I could not distinguish its appearance, I looked, but there was no form before mine eyes, —A whispering voice, I heard: —

17 ‘മർത്യനു ദൈവത്തെക്കാൾ നീതിമാനാകാൻ കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ സ്രഷ്ടാവിനെക്കാൾ നിർമലനാകാൻ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനു സാധിക്കുമോ?

Shall, mortal man, be more just than GOD? Or a man be more pure than, his Maker?

18 ദൈവം തന്റെ സേവകരിൽ വിശ്വാസം അർപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ; തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരിൽ അങ്ങ് കുറ്റമാരോപിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ,

Lo! in his own servants, he trusteth not, and, his own messengers, he chargeth with error:

19 മൺകൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നവർ, പൊടിയിൽനിന്ന് ഉദ്ഭവിച്ചവർ, നിശാശലഭത്തെക്കാൾ വേഗത്തിൽ ചവിട്ടിയരയ്ക്കപ്പെടുന്നവർ എത്രയധികം കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കും!

How much more the dwellers in houses of clay, which, in the dust, have their foundation, which are crushed sooner than a moth:

20 ഉഷസ്സിനും സായംസന്ധ്യക്കും മധ്യേ അവർ ഛിന്നഭിന്നമാകുന്നു; അഗണ്യരായി, അവർ എന്നെന്നേക്കുമായി അപ്രത്യക്ഷരാകുന്നു.

Betwixt morning and evening, are they broken in pieces, With none to save, they utterly perish:

21 അവരുടെ ജീവതന്തു അവർക്കുള്ളിൽത്തന്നെ അറ്റുപോകുകയല്ലേ? അവർ ജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കാതെ മരിക്കുകയല്ലേ ചെയ്യുന്നത്?’

Is not their tent-rope within them, torn away? They die, disrobed of wisdom!
