ഇയ്യോബ് 14

1 “സ്ത്രീജാതനായ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ജീവിതകാലം നൈമിഷികവും ദുരിതപൂർണവും ആയിരിക്കും.

Man that is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble:

2 അവർ ഒരു പുഷ്പംപോലെ പൊട്ടിവിരിയുകയും വാടിക്കൊഴിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; ക്ഷണികമായ ഒരു നിഴൽപോലെ പെട്ടെന്നു മാഞ്ഞുമറയുന്നു.

As a flower, he cometh forth—and fadeth, He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

3 അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ഒരു പ്രാണിയുടെമേലാണോ അങ്ങു ദൃഷ്ടി പതിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? എന്നെയോ അങ്ങയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിലേക്കു നടത്തുന്നത്?

And yet upon such a one as this, hast thou opened thine eye? And, him, wouldst thou bring into judgment with thee?

4 അശുദ്ധിയിൽനിന്ന് വിശുദ്ധിയെ നിർമിക്കാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും? ആർക്കും സാധ്യമല്ല!

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one!

5 ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ നാളുകൾ നിർണയിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ കാലചക്രം അങ്ങ് മാസക്കണക്കിൽ നിജപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു ലംഘിക്കാൻ നിർവാഹമില്ലാത്ത ഒരു പരിധി നിശ്ചയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

If determined am his days, the number of his months, is with thee, Fixed times for him, thou hast appointed and he cannot go beyond.

6 ഒരു തൊഴിലാളിയെപ്പോലെ തന്റെ നാളുകൾ തികയ്ക്കുംവരെ അങ്ങയുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ അയാളിൽനിന്നു മാറ്റണമേ, അയാളെ വെറുതേ വിടണമേ.

Look sway from him, that he may rest, Till he shall pay off, as a hireling, his day.

7 “ഒരു വൃക്ഷം വെട്ടിയിട്ടാൽ അതു വീണ്ടും മുളയ്ക്കുമെന്നു പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ട്; അതിലെ പൊട്ടിച്ചിനപ്പുകൾക്കു നാശം സംഭവിക്കുകയില്ല.

Though there is—for a tree—hope, —if it should be cut down, that, again, it will grow, and, the tender branch thereof, will not cease;

8 അതിന്റെ വേരുകൾ നിലത്തു പഴകിപ്പോയാലും അതിന്റെ കുറ്റി ഉണങ്ങിയ മണ്ണിൽ കെട്ടുപോയാലും

If its root, should become old in the earth, and, in the dust, its stock should die:

9 വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഗന്ധം കിട്ടിയാൽ അതു മുളയ്ക്കും; ഒരു ചെടിപോലെ ശാഖകൾ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കും.

Through the scent of water, it may break forth, and produce branches like a sapling,

10 എന്നാൽ മനുഷ്യൻ മരിച്ചു നിലംപറ്റെ കിടക്കുന്നു; അന്ത്യശ്വാസം വലിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞാൽ പിന്നെ അവൻ എവിടെ?

Yet, man, dieth, and is prostrate, Yea the son of earth doth cease to breathe, and where is he?

11 സമുദ്രം ഉൾവലിയുന്നതുപോലെയും നദീതടം വറ്റിവരണ്ട് ഉണങ്ങുന്നതുപോലെയും,

Waters, have failed from, the sea, and, a river, may waste and dry up;

12 മനുഷ്യൻ കിടന്നാൽ പിന്നെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്നില്ല; ആകാശം ഇല്ലാതാകുംവരെ അവൻ ഉണരുകയോ ഉറക്കംവിട്ട് എഴുന്നേൽക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല.

So, a man, hath lain down, and shall not arise, until there are no heavens, they shall not awake, nor be roused up out of their sleep.

13 “അയ്യോ! അങ്ങ് എന്നെ ശവക്കുഴിയിൽ മറച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ! അങ്ങയുടെ കോപം വിട്ടുപോകുന്നതുവരെ എന്നെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ! എനിക്ക് ഒരു കാലപരിധി നിശ്ചയിച്ച് എന്നെ ഓർത്തിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ! (Sheol h7585)

Oh that, in hades, thou wouldst hide me! that thou wouldst keep me secret, until the turn of thine anger, that thou wouldst set for me a fixed time, and remember me: (Sheol h7585)

14 ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ മരിച്ചാൽ വീണ്ടും ജീവിക്കുമോ? എന്നാൽ എനിക്കു നവജീവൻ ലഭിക്കുന്നതുവരെ എന്റെ കഠിനാധ്വാനകാലം മുഴുവനും ഞാൻ കാത്തിരിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

If a man die, can he live again? All the days of my warfare, would I wait, until my relief should come: —

15 അങ്ങു വിളിക്കും, ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം പറയും; അങ്ങയുടെ കൈവേലയോട് അങ്ങേക്കു താത്പര്യം തോന്നുമായിരുന്നു.

Thou shouldst call, and, I, would answer thee, —For the work of thine own hand, thou shouldst long.

16 ഇപ്പോൾ അങ്ങ് എന്റെ കാലടികൾ എണ്ണുന്നു; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ പാപത്തിന്മേൽ ദൃഷ്ടി വെക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

For, now, my steps, thou countest, Thou wilt not pass over my sin:

17 എന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ ഒരു സഞ്ചിയിലാക്കി മുദ്ര വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അനീതിക്കുമേൽ അങ്ങു മൂടുപടം വിരിക്കുന്നു.

Sealed up in a bag, is my transgression, and thou hast glued over mine iniquity.

18 “എന്നാൽ ഒരു പർവതം അല്പാല്പം പൊടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നതുപോലെയും ഒരു പാറ സ്വസ്ഥാനം വിട്ടു മാറിപ്പോകുന്നതുപോലെയും

But, in very deed, a mountain falling, will lie prostrate, or, a rock moved out of its place:

19 വെള്ളം പാറകൾക്കു തേയ്മാനം വരുത്തുന്നതുപോലെയും ജലപ്രവാഹങ്ങൾ നിലത്തെ മണ്ണിനെ ഒഴുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നതുപോലെയും ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ആശയെയും അങ്ങു നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

Stones, have been hollowed out by waters, the floods thereof wash away the dust of the earth, and, the hope of mortal man, thou hast destroyed:

20 അങ്ങ് അവരെ എന്നേക്കുമായി തള്ളിയിടുന്നു, അവൻ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെ മുഖം വിരൂപമാക്കുകയും അവരെ പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Thou dost overpower him utterly, and he departeth, Disfiguring his face, so, hast thou sent him away.

21 അവരുടെ മക്കൾ ബഹുമതി പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ അവർ അത് അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ മക്കൾക്കു താഴ്ച ഭവിക്കുന്നതും അവർ കാണുന്നില്ല.

His sons, come to honour, and he knoweth it not, Or they are brought low, and he perceiveth it not of them.

22 എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ശരീരത്തിലെ വേദനമാത്രം അവർ അറിയുന്നു, അവർ വിലപിക്കുന്നത് അവർക്കുവേണ്ടിമാത്രം.”

But, his flesh, for himself, is in pain, and, his soul, for himself, doth mourn.
