യിരെമ്യാവു 34
1 ബാബേൽരാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലസൈന്യവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അധികാരത്തിൻകീഴുള്ള ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളും സകലജനങ്ങളും ചേർന്ന് ജെറുശലേമിനും അതിലെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കുമെതിരേ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട്:
The word which came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, —when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his force and all the kingdoms of the earth the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples were fighting against Jerusalem and against all her cities, saying:
2 “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നീ പോയി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ സിദെക്കീയാവിനോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക: ‘യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇതാ ഞാൻ ഈ നഗരം ബാബേൽരാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം അതിനെ തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും.
Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Go and speak unto Zedekiah king of Judah, —and say unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire;
3 നീ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയില്ല, എന്നാൽ നിന്നെ അവൻ പിടിച്ചടക്കും, നീ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടും. നീ ബാബേൽരാജാവിനെ കണ്മുമ്പിൽ കാണും; അദ്ദേഹം അഭിമുഖമായി നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കും. നീ ബാബേലിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും.
And, thou, shalt not escape out of his hand, For thou shalt be, taken, And into his hand, shalt thou be delivered, —And, thine own eyes, into the eyes of the king of Babylon, shall look, And his mouth, with thy mouth, shall speak And Babylon, shalt thou enter.
4 “‘എന്നാലും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ സിദെക്കീയാവേ, യഹോവയുടെ വാഗ്ദാനം കേൾക്കുക. നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നീ വാളാൽ മരിക്കുകയില്ല;
Nevertheless, hear the word of Yahweh, O Zedekiah, king of Judah, —Thus, saith Yahweh Concerning thee, Thou shalt not die, by the sword;
5 നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മരിക്കും. നിനക്കുമുമ്പ് വാണിരുന്ന രാജാക്കന്മാരായ നിന്റെ മുൻഗാമികളുടെ ആദരസൂചകമായി ചിതയൊരുക്കിയതുപോലെ അവർ നിനക്കുവേണ്ടിയും ആദരസൂചകമായി ചിതയൊരുക്കി, “അയ്യോ തമ്പുരാനേ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവർ നിനക്കായും വിലപിക്കും. ഞാൻതന്നെയാണ് ഈ വാഗ്ദാനം നൽകുന്നത്, എന്നു യഹോവ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നു.’”
In peace, shalt thou die, And with the burnings made for thy fathers the former kings who were before thee, so, shall they make a burning unto thee, And, with an, Alas lord! shall they lament thee, —Because of the word, I, have spoken, Declareth Yahweh.
6 അതിനുശേഷം യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ ജെറുശലേമിൽവെച്ച് ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ സിദെക്കീയാവിനോട് സംസാരിച്ചു.
Then spake Jeremiah the prophet, unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem;
7 അന്ന് ബാബേൽരാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യം ജെറുശലേമിനോടും യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ശേഷിച്ച നഗരങ്ങളായ ലാഖീശ്, അസേക്കാ എന്നിവയോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിൽ ഇവമാത്രം കോട്ടകൾകെട്ടി ഉറപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട നഗരങ്ങളായി ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നു.
when, the force of the king of Babylon, was fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, —against Lachish and against Azekah, for they, remained among the cities of Judah as fortified cities.
8 ഒരു യെഹൂദൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളായ എബ്രായദാസീദാസന്മാരെ അടിമകളാക്കി വെക്കാതെ അവരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കാൻ ഒരു വിമോചനം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കണമെന്ന്, സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവ് ജെറുശലേമിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ ജനങ്ങളോടും ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തശേഷം യഹോവയിൽനിന്നും യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട്.
The word which came unto Jeremiah, from Yahweh, —after that King Zedekiah had solemnised a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem, proclaiming unto them liberty:
that every man should let his servant and every man his handmaid, being a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, —so that no man should use them as slaves, to wit a Jew his brother;
10 അതുകൊണ്ട് ഓരോരുത്തനും തന്റെ ദാസനെയും ദാസിയെയും അടിമകളായി വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കാതെ അവരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കണമെന്ന ഉടമ്പടിയിൽ പങ്കാളികളായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ജനങ്ങളും അതനുസരിച്ച് അവരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചിരുന്നു.
so then they hearkened—even all the princes and all the people who had entered into the covenant that every man should let his servant and every man his handmaid, go free, so as not to use them as slaves, any longer, —yea they hearkened, and let them go,
11 എന്നാൽ പിന്നീട് തങ്ങളുടെ തീരുമാനം മാറ്റി അവർ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കിയ ദാസന്മാരെയും ദാസിമാരെയും തിരികെ വിളിച്ച് അവരെ വീണ്ടും അടിമകളാക്കി.
howbeit they turned after that, and brought back the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go, free, and brought them into subjection as servants and as handmaids,
12 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയിൽനിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി:
So then the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:
13 “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികരെ അടിമദേശമായ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവരോട് ഒരു ഉടമ്പടിചെയ്തു.
Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, —I myself, solemnised a covenant with your fathers, in the day when I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves saying:
14 ‘നിനക്കു വിലയ്ക്കു വിൽക്കപ്പെട്ട ഓരോ എബ്രായദാസരും ആറുവർഷം നിങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചതിനുശേഷം, ഏഴാംവർഷത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾ അയാളെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണം; നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരായി വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണം.’ എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികർ എന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുകയോ എന്റെ വചനത്തിനു ചെവിചായ്‌ക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
At the end of seven years, shall ye let go every man his brother, being a Hebrew, who shall sell himself unto thee and serve thee, six years, then shalt thou let him go, free, from thee, Howbeit your fathers hearkened not unto me neither inclined their ear.
15 അടുത്തകാലത്ത് നിങ്ങൾ പശ്ചാത്തപിച്ച് എന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ശരിയായതു ചെയ്തു: നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തരും നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്തം ജനത്തിനു സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി. എന്റെ നാമം വഹിക്കുന്ന ആലയത്തിൽവെച്ച് നിങ്ങൾ ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.
And, though, ye, just now turned and did that which was right in mine eyes, by proclaiming liberty, every man to his neighbour, —and solemnised a covenant before me, in the house on which my Name hath been called,
16 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞ് എന്റെ നാമം അശുദ്ധമാക്കി; ഓരോരുത്തനും അവരവരുടെ ഹിതപ്രകാരം നിങ്ങൾ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചിരുന്ന ദാസനെയും ദാസിയെയും തിരികെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും അവരെ ബലപ്രയോഗത്തിലൂടെ അടിമകളാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
yet have ye turned and profaned my Name, and brought back, every man his servant and every man his hand-maid, whom ye had let go, free, at their own desire, —and have brought them into subjection, to become your servants and handmaids.
17 “അതിനാൽ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തിനു വിമോചനം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കണമെന്നുള്ള എന്റെ വചനം അനുസരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു ‘വിമോചനം,’ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു, എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു—വാളിലേക്കും മഹാമാരിയിലേക്കും ക്ഷാമത്തിലേക്കും വീഴുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു വിമോചനംതന്നെ. ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങൾക്കും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ ഒരു ഭീതി വിഷയമാക്കിത്തീർക്കും.
Therefore—Thus, saith Yahweh, Ye, have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every man to his brother and every man to his neighbour: Behold me! proclaiming, to you, a liberty: Declareth Yahweh unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, so will I make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth;
18 എന്റെ ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിക്കുകയും എന്റെമുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്ത ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ പാലിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവരെ, അവർ ഏതൊരു കാളക്കിടാവിനെ രണ്ടു ഖണ്ഡമായി പിളർന്ന് അതിനു മധ്യേകൂടി കടന്നുപോയോ, ആ കിടാവിനെപ്പോലെ ഞാൻ അവരോട് ഇടപെടും.
and will give the men who are transgressing my covenant, in that they have not confirmed the words of the covenant, which they solemnised, before me, when they cut the calf, in twain, and passed between the parts thereof;
19 യെഹൂദ്യയിലെയും ജെറുശലേമിലെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥമേധാവിമാരെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും പിളർക്കപ്പെട്ട കാളക്കിടാവിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളിലൂടെ നടന്ന ദേശത്തെ സകലജനങ്ങളെയും,
even the princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs and the priests, and all the people of the land, —who passed between the parts of the calf,
20 ഞാൻ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈയിലും അവർക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്താൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൈയിലും ഏൽപ്പിക്കും. അവരുടെ ശവങ്ങൾ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികൾക്കും ഭൂമിയിലെ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും ആഹാരമായിത്തീരും.
yea I will give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them who are seeking their life, —and their dead bodies shall become food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth.
21 “യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ സിദെക്കീയാവിനെയും അവന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈയിലും അവർക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്താൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൈയിലും നിങ്ങളെ വിട്ടു പിൻവാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന ബാബേൽരാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കൈയിലും ഏൽപ്പിക്കും.
Zedekiah king of Judah also with his princes, will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them who are seeking their life, —even into the hand of the force of the king of Babylon, who are going up from you.
22 ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ആജ്ഞ കൊടുക്കാൻ പോകുന്നു, എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവരെ ഞാൻ ഈ നഗരത്തിലേക്കു തിരികെവരുത്തും. അവർ അതിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധംചെയ്ത് അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കി തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും. ഞാൻ യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളെ ആൾപ്പാർപ്പില്ലാത്ത ഒരു ശൂന്യസ്ഥലമാക്കും.”
Behold me! giving command, Declareth Yahweh, and I will bring them back unto this city, and they will fight against it and capture it, and consume it with fire, —and, the cities of Judah, will I make too desolate to have an inhabitant.
