യിരെമ്യാവു 18
1 യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട് ഇപ്രകാരമായിരുന്നു:
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 “നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകുക. അവിടെവെച്ചു ഞാൻ എന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് നിനക്കു നൽകും.”
Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3 അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽച്ചെന്നു. അയാൾ ചക്രത്തിന്മേൽ വേലചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു.
Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 കുശവൻ നിർമിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പാത്രം അയാളുടെ കൈകളിൽ അതിന്റെ ശരിയായ ആകൃതിയിൽ രൂപപ്പെട്ടില്ല; അതിനാൽ അയാൾ തനിക്ക് ഉചിതമെന്നു തോന്നിയതുപോലെ ആ പശമണ്ണു മറ്റൊരു പാത്രമാക്കിത്തീർത്തു.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് എനിക്ക് ഇപ്രകാരം ഉണ്ടായി:
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6 “ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, ഈ കുശവൻ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ലേ?” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “ഇസ്രായേലേ, കളിമണ്ണു കുശവന്റെ കൈയിലെന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ കൈയിലിരിക്കുന്നു.
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
7 ഒരു സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രത്തെയോ രാജ്യത്തെയോകുറിച്ച് ഞാൻ അവരെ ഉന്മൂലനംചെയ്യുമെന്നും തകർത്തുകളയുമെന്നും നശിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തേക്കാം.
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8 ഞാൻ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ജനത അതിന്റെ ദുർമാർഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞാൽ ഞാൻ അതിന്റെമേൽ വരുത്തുമെന്നു നിർണയിച്ച അനർഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അനുതപിക്കും.
If that nation, against which I have pronounced, shall turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
9 അഥവാ, മറ്റൊരു സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രത്തെയോ രാജ്യത്തെയോകുറിച്ച് അതിനെ കെട്ടിപ്പടുക്കുമെന്നും നടുമെന്നും ഞാൻ സംസാരിച്ചെന്നു വരാം,
And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10 എങ്കിലും അവർ എന്നെ അനുസരിക്കാതെ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചാൽ അവർക്കു വരുത്തുമെന്നു ഞാൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത നന്മയെക്കുറിച്ചും ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കും.
If it shall do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, with which I said I would benefit them.
11 “അതിനാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ നീ പോയി യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളോടും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളോടും ഇപ്രകാരം സംസാരിക്കുക, ‘യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇതാ! ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കെതിരേ, ഒരു അനർഥം നിരൂപിച്ച് ഒരു പദ്ധതി ആസൂത്രണംചെയ്യുന്നു. അതിനാൽ നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തനും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ട് പിന്തിരിയുക, നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളും പ്രവൃത്തികളും പുനരുദ്ധരിക്കുക.’
Now therefore come, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plot against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
12 അതിന് അവർ, ‘ഇതു വെറുതേയാണ്. ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മാർഗങ്ങളിൽത്തന്നെ നടക്കും. ഞങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തനും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ശാഠ്യമനുസരിച്ചുതന്നെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കും’” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
13 അതിനാൽ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങൾ ഇതര രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ ചെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കുക: ഇപ്രകാരമുള്ളത് ആരെങ്കിലും എപ്പോഴെങ്കിലും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഇസ്രായേൽ കന്യക അതിഭയാനകമായ ഒരു കാര്യം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
14 ലെബാനോനിലെ ഹിമം അതിന്റെ പാതയിടുക്കിൽനിന്ന് മാഞ്ഞുപോകുമോ? ദൂരെനിന്ന് ഒഴുകിവരുന്ന അതിന്റെ തണുത്ത വെള്ളം വറ്റിപ്പോകുമോ?
Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
15 എന്നിട്ടും എന്റെ ജനം എന്നെ മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ മിഥ്യാമൂർത്തികൾക്കു ധൂപംകാട്ടുന്നു. അവ അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളിൽനിന്നും പുരാതനമായ പാതകളിൽനിന്നും കാലിടറി വീഴുമാറാക്കി. അവർ അവരെ ഊടുവഴിയിലൂടെ പണിതിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പാതകളിലൂടെത്തന്നെ സഞ്ചരിക്കാൻ ഇടയാക്കി.
Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
16 അങ്ങനെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തെ വിജനവും എന്നേക്കും ഒരു പരിഹാസവിഷയവും ആക്കുന്നു; അതിൽക്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുന്ന എല്ലാവരും സ്തബ്ധരായി, അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ തലകുലുക്കും.
To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shake his head.
17 കിഴക്കുനിന്നുള്ള കാറ്റുപോലെ, ഞാൻ അവരെ അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കുമുമ്പിൽ ചിതറിക്കും; അവരുടെ നാശദിവസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ മുഖമല്ല, പിറകുതന്നെ അവർക്കു കാണിക്കും.”
I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18 അപ്പോൾ അവർ പറഞ്ഞു, “വരിക നമുക്കു യിരെമ്യാവിനെതിരേ ഉപായങ്ങൾ ചിന്തിക്കാം; പുരോഹിതനിൽനിന്നുള്ള ന്യായപ്രമാണ അധ്യാപനവും ജ്ഞാനിയിൽനിന്നുള്ള ആലോചനയും പ്രവാചകനിൽനിന്നുള്ള അരുളപ്പാടും ഇല്ലാതാകുകയില്ല. വരിക, നമുക്കു നാവുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പ്രഹരിക്കാം; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാക്കിനു യാതൊരു പരിഗണനയും നൽകേണ്ടതില്ല.”
Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
19 യഹോവേ, എനിക്കു ചെവിതരണമേ; എന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ശബ്ദം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണമേ!
Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20 നന്മയ്ക്കുപകരം ആരെങ്കിലും തിന്മ ചെയ്യുമോ? എന്നിട്ടും അവൻ എന്റെ പ്രാണനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു കുഴികുഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ അവരുടെ നന്മയ്ക്കായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിനും അവരിൽനിന്ന് അങ്ങയുടെ ക്രോധം നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നതിനുമായി അങ്ങയുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നത് ഓർക്കണമേ.
Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21 അതിനാൽ അവരുടെ മക്കളെ ക്ഷാമത്തിന് ഏൽപ്പിക്കണമേ; അവരെ വാളിന്റെ ശക്തിക്ക് ഇരയാക്കണമേ. അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരും വിധവകളും ആയിത്തീരട്ടെ; അവരുടെ പുരുഷന്മാരും മരണത്തിന് ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ, അവരുടെ യുവാക്കന്മാർ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീഴാൻ ഇടയാകട്ടെ.
Therefore deliver their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 അങ്ങ് വളരെപ്പെട്ടെന്നു കവർച്ചക്കാരെ അവരുടെനേരേ അയയ്ക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ വീടുകളിൽനിന്ന് നിലവിളി ഉയരട്ടെ, കാരണം അവർ എന്നെ വീഴ്ത്തുന്നതിന് കുഴികുഴിക്കുകയും എന്റെ കാലുകൾക്ക് കെണിയൊരുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തല്ലോ.
Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have dug a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23 എന്നാൽ യഹോവേ, എന്നെ വധിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള അവരുടെ എല്ലാ പദ്ധതികളും അങ്ങ് അറിയുന്നല്ലോ. അവരുടെ കുറ്റം ക്ഷമിക്കുകയോ അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്ന് മായിച്ചുകളയുകയോ ചെയ്യരുതേ. അങ്ങയുടെമുമ്പാകെ അവരെ തകിടം മറിക്കണമേ, അങ്ങയുടെ കോപകാലത്തുതന്നെ അവരോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കണമേ.
Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thy anger.
