യിരെമ്യാവു 11
1 യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട്:
The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 “നീ ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ കേട്ട് യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളോടും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളോടും അത് അറിയിക്കുക.
Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
3 അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ അനുസരിക്കാത്ത മനുഷ്യൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ.
And say thou unto them, Thus hath said the Lord God of Israel, Cursed be the man that hearkeneth not to the words of this covenant,
4 ഇരുമ്പുചൂളയായ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാളിൽ ഇവയെ ഞാൻ അവരോടറിയിച്ചു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രകാരത്തിലെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വചനം കേട്ട് അനുസരിക്കുക; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ജനവും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവവുമായിരിക്കും,’ എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
Which I commanded your fathers on the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Hearken to my voice, and do the same, in accordance with all which I may command you; and so shall ye be to me for a people, and I will be to you for a God;
5 ‘ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവകാശമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്നതായ ദേശം അവർക്കു നൽകുമെന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ശപഥം നിറവേറ്റുന്നതിനുതന്നെ.’” അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ “ആമേൻ, യഹോവേ,” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
In order that I may fulfill the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give unto them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. And I answered, and said, So be it, O Lord.
6 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “നീ ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലും ജെറുശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിലും വിളിച്ചുപറയുക, ‘ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ട് അനുസരിക്കുക.
Then said the Lord unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
7 നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും “എന്റെ വചനം അനുസരിക്കുക,” എന്ന് അവർക്ക് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
For I earnestly warned your fathers on the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt even until this day, sending out early and warning, saying, Hearken to my voice;
8 എന്നിട്ടും അവർ എന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുകയും എനിക്കു ചെവിതരികയും ചെയ്യാതെ ഓരോരുത്തനും തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ആഗ്രഹമനുസരിച്ചു നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ഞാൻ അവരോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ടും അവർ അവയെ പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല.’”
Yet they hearkened not, and inclined not their ear, but walked every one in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore did I bring over them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but which they did not.
9 യഹോവ പിന്നെയും എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളുടെ മധ്യത്തിലും ഒരു ഗൂഢാലോചന ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു.
And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy hath been found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10 എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികരുടെ പാപങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അവർ വീണ്ടും കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അന്യദേവതകളെ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്ക് അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. യെഹൂദാഗൃഹവും ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹവും അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
They are returned again to the iniquities of their earlier forefathers, who had refused to hearken to my words; and they themselves are [also] gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
11 അതിനാൽ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഇതാ അവർക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ഒരു അനർഥം ഞാൻ അവർക്കു വരുത്തും; അവർ എന്നെ നോക്കി നിലവിളിച്ചാലും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കുകയില്ല.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will bring an evil upon them, from which they shall not be able to rid themselves; and they will cry unto me, but I will not hearken unto them.
12 അപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളും അവർ ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന ദേവതകളുടെ അടുക്കൽപോയി അവരോടു നിലവിളിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ദേവതകൾ അവരെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ല.
Then let the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense; but they shall not save them in the least in the time of their distress.
13 അല്ലയോ, യെഹൂദയേ, നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തോളംതന്നെ നിനക്കു ദേവതകളുണ്ട്. ജെറുശലേമിലെ വീഥികളുടെ എണ്ണത്തോളം ബാൽ എന്ന മ്ലേച്ഛദേവനു ധൂപം കാട്ടാൻ ബലിപീഠങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.’
For equal to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and equal to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to the disgraceful idol, altars, to burn incense unto Ba'al.
14 “അതിനാൽ നീ ജനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥിക്കരുത്; അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥനയുടെ ഒരു നിലവിളി ഉയർത്തരുത്. തങ്ങളുടെ അനർഥം നിമിത്തം അവർ എന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ നിലവിളി ഞാൻ കേൾക്കുകയില്ല.
But thou—thou must not pray in behalf of this people, neither lift up in their behalf entreaty or prayer; for I will not hear at the time that they call unto me, because of their distress.
15 “പലരോടുംചേർന്ന് നിരവധി ദുഷ്കർമങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നവളായ എന്റെ കാന്തയ്ക്ക് എന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽ എന്തുകാര്യമാണുള്ളത്? വിശുദ്ധമാംസത്തിനു നിന്റെ ശിക്ഷ ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ? ദുഷ്ടതയിൽ വ്യാപൃതയാകുമ്പോൾ നീ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.”
What hath my beloved to do in my house, while she executeth the evil counsel of so many [sinners]? Yea, the holy flesh passeth away from thee; for even with thy wickedness, thou rejoicest still.
16 ആകർഷകമായ ഫലങ്ങൾനിറഞ്ഞ സൗന്ദര്യത്തോടെ തഴച്ചുവളരുന്ന ഒലിവുവൃക്ഷം എന്ന് യഹോവ നിനക്കു പേരു വിളിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ കൊടുംകാറ്റിന്റെ ഗർജനത്തോടെ അവിടന്ന് അതിനു തീവെക്കും അതിന്റെ ശാഖകൾ ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകും.
An ever-green olive-tree, beautiful in fruit and form, did the Lord call thy name: with the noise of a great tumult hath he kindled fire around it, and they break off its branches.
17 ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹവും യെഹൂദാഗൃഹവും ബാലിനു ധൂപംകാട്ടി ദുഷ്കർമം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് എന്നിലെ ക്രോധമുണർത്തിയതിനാൽ നിന്നെ നട്ടവനായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് അനർഥം വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
And the Lord of hosts, that planted thee, hath decreed evil against thee; on account of the wickedness of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves, to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Ba'al.
18 യഹോവ അവരുടെ ഗൂഢാലോചനയെക്കുറിച്ച് എനിക്ക് അറിവു തന്നു, അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ അത് അറിഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അങ്ങ് എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നു.
And the Lord hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then didst thou let me see their doings.
19 എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ കൊലയ്ക്കായി കൊണ്ടുവരപ്പെട്ട സൗമ്യതയുള്ള ഒരു കുഞ്ഞാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു, “നമുക്കു വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഫലത്തോടുകൂടെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയാം; അവന്റെ പേര് ഇനി ആരും ഓർക്കരുത്, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് നമുക്കവനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയാം,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവർ എനിക്കെതിരേ ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തിയത് ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.
But I was like a sheep or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, [saying, ] “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may not be remembered any more.”
20 എന്നാൽ, നീതിയോടെ വിധിക്കുകയും ഹൃദയവിചാരങ്ങളെ അറിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, അങ്ങ് അവരോടു ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രതികാരം ഞാൻ കാണട്ടെ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം അങ്ങയോടല്ലോ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചത്.
But, O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee have I entrusted my cause.
21 അതിനാൽ “ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളാൽ നീ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രവചിക്കരുത്,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ അപഹരിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന അനാഥോത്തുജനതയെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു—
Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning the men of 'Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, “Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of the Lord, that thou mayest not die by our hand:”
22 “ഞാൻ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും. അവരുടെ യുവാക്കൾ വാളിനാൽ വീഴും, അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ക്ഷാമത്താൽ മരിക്കും.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will inflict punishment on them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by the famine;
23 ഞാൻ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്ന വർഷത്തിൽ, അനാഥോത്തിലെ ജനങ്ങൾക്കു ഞാൻ വിനാശം വരുത്തുകയാൽ, അവരിൽ ആരുംതന്നെ ശേഷിക്കുകയില്ല,” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
And no remnant shall remain of them; for I will bring evil upon the men of 'Anathoth, in the year of their punishment.
