യിരെമ്യാവു 10
1 ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന വചനം കേൾക്കുക.
Hear the word that Jehovah speaketh unto you, house of Israel.
2 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഇതര ജനതകളുടെ ജീവിതരീതി അഭ്യസിക്കുകയോ ആകാശത്തിലെ ചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ കണ്ട് അവർ പരിഭ്രമിക്കുമ്പോലെ നിങ്ങൾ പരിഭ്രാന്തരാകുകയോ അരുത്.
Thus saith Jehovah: Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of the heavens; for the nations are dismayed at them.
3 ജനതകളുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾ അർഥശൂന്യമാണ്; അവർ കാട്ടിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു മരം വെട്ടുന്നു, ആശാരി തന്റെ ഉളികൊണ്ട് അതിനു രൂപംവരുത്തുന്നു.
For the statutes of the peoples are vanity; for [it is] a tree cut out of the forest, worked with a chisel by the hands of the artizan;
4 അവർ അതിനെ വെള്ളികൊണ്ടും സ്വർണംകൊണ്ടും അലങ്കരിക്കുന്നു; അത് ആടിയുലയാതെ, ആണിയും ചുറ്റികയുംകൊണ്ട് ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
they deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ നോക്കുകുത്തിപോലെ അവ നിൽക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്കു സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല; അവയ്ക്കു നടക്കാൻ കഴിവില്ലാത്തതിനാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും അവയെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോകണം. അവയെ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്; അവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്യാനും അവയ്ക്കു ശക്തിയില്ല.”
They are as a palm-column of turned work, and they speak not; they are carried, for they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 യഹോവേ, അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ ആരുമില്ല; അവിടന്നു വലിയവൻ, അവിടത്തെ നാമം ശക്തിയിൽ പ്രബലമാണ്.
There is none like unto thee, Jehovah; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
7 രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവേ, അങ്ങയെ ആർ ഭയപ്പെടാതിരിക്കും? അത് അങ്ങയുടെ അവകാശമാണല്ലോ. രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾക്കിടയിലെ ജ്ഞാനികളായ നേതാക്കന്മാരിലും അവരുടെ എല്ലാ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും, അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ ആരുമില്ല.
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? For to thee doth it appertain; for among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8 അവർ എല്ലാവരും ബുദ്ധിഹീനരും ഭോഷരുമത്രേ; തടികൊണ്ടുള്ള നിർജീവമായ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളാണ് അവരെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നത്.
But they are one and all senseless and foolish; the teaching of vanities is a stock.
9 തർശീശിൽനിന്ന് അടിച്ചുപരത്തിയ വെള്ളിയും ഊഫാസിൽനിന്നു തങ്കവും കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. ആശാരിയും സ്വർണപ്പണിക്കാരും നിർമിച്ചതിനെ നീലവസ്ത്രവും ഊതവർണവസ്ത്രവും ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു— ഇതെല്ലാം വിദഗ്ദ്ധ ശില്പികളുടെ നിർമാണംതന്നെ.
Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artizan and of the hands of the founder; blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of skilful [men].
10 എന്നാൽ യഹോവ സത്യദൈവമാകുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവവും നിത്യരാജാവുംതന്നെ. അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധത്താൽ ഭൂമി വിറകൊള്ളുന്നു; ജനതകൾക്ക് അവിടത്തെ ഉഗ്രകോപം സഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല.
But Jehovah Elohim is truth; he is the living God, and the King of eternity. At his wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations cannot abide his indignation.
11 “‘ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും നിർമിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഈ ദേവതകൾ, ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നും ആകാശത്തിൻകീഴിൽനിന്നും നശിച്ചുപോകുമെന്ന്,’ അവരോടു പറയുക.”
Thus shall ye say unto them: The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.
12 എന്നാൽ ദൈവം തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ ഭൂമിയെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ അവിടന്ന് ലോകത്തെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു തന്റെ വിവേകത്താൽ ആകാശങ്ങളെ വിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
13 അവിടന്ന് ഇടിമുഴക്കുമ്പോൾ, ആകാശത്തിലെ ജലശേഖരം ഗർജിക്കുന്നു; അവിടന്നു ഭൂമിയുടെ അതിരുകളിൽനിന്ന് മേഘങ്ങൾ ഉയരുമാറാക്കുന്നു. അവിടന്ന് മഴയ്ക്കൊപ്പം മിന്നൽ അയയ്ക്കുന്നു, തന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് കാറ്റ് പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു.
When he uttereth his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the end of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.
14 മനുഷ്യവർഗം മുഴുവനും വിവേകശൂന്യർ, അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇല്ലാത്തവർതന്നെ; ഓരോ സ്വർണപ്പണിക്കാരും തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾമൂലം ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകുന്നു. അവർ വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ ബിംബം വ്യാജമാണ്; ആ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളിലൊന്നും ശ്വാസമില്ല.
Every man is become brutish, bereft of knowledge; every founder is put to shame by the graven image, for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 അവ മിഥ്യയും അപഹാസപാത്രവുമാണ്; അവരുടെ ന്യായവിധി വരുമ്പോൾ അവ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 യാക്കോബിന്റെ അവകാശമായവൻ അവരെപ്പോലെയല്ല, അവിടത്തെ അവകാശജനതയായ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെയുംമാത്രമല്ല, സകലത്തിന്റെയും സ്രഷ്ടാവ് അവിടന്നാണ്— സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ എന്നാകുന്നു അവിടത്തെ നാമം.
The portion of Jacob is not like them; for it is he that hath formed all [things], and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: Jehovah of hosts is his name.
17 ഉപരോധത്തിൻകീഴിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നവരേ, നാടുവിടുന്നതിനായി നിന്റെ ഭാണ്ഡം മുറുക്കിക്കൊൾക.
Gather up thy baggage out of the land, O inhabitress of the fortress.
18 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ ഈ പ്രാവശ്യം ഈ ദേശവാസികളെ കവിണയിൽവെച്ച് എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും; ഞാൻ അവർക്കു ദുരിതംവരുത്തും അങ്ങനെ അവർ പിടിക്കപ്പെടും.”
For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will this time sling out the inhabitants of the land, and will distress them, that they may be found.
19 എന്റെ മുറിവുനിമിത്തം എനിക്ക് അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ മുറിവു സൗഖ്യംവരാത്തതത്രേ! എന്നിട്ടും ഞാൻ എന്നോടുതന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു, “ഇത് എന്റെ രോഗമാണ്, അതു ഞാൻ സഹിച്ചേ മതിയാകൂ.”
Woe is me, for my wound! My stroke is hard to heal, and I had said, Yea, this is [my] grief, and I will bear it.
20 എന്റെ കൂടാരം തകർക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കയറുകളെല്ലാം അറ്റുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ മക്കൾ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു അവരെ ഞാൻ ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല; എന്റെ കൂടാരമടിക്കുന്നതിനും എന്റെ തിരശ്ശീല നിവർക്കുന്നതിനും ആരുമില്ല.
My tent is despoiled, and all my cords are broken; my children are gone forth from me, and they are not; there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21 ഇടയന്മാർ മൃഗത്തിനു തുല്യരാണ്, അവർ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവർ ഐശ്വര്യം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നില്ല, അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റമെല്ലാം ചിതറിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not sought Jehovah; therefore have they not acted wisely, and all their flock is scattered.
22 ഇതാ, ഒരു വാർത്ത വരുന്നു— വടക്കേദേശത്തുനിന്നുള്ള ഒരു വലിയ കോലാഹലംതന്നെ! അത് യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളെ ശൂന്യവും കുറുനരികൾ വിഹരിക്കുന്ന ഇടവുമാക്കും.
The voice of a rumour! Behold, it cometh, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of jackals.
23 യഹോവേ, മനുഷ്യരുടെ ജീവൻ അവരുടെ സ്വന്തമല്ല; സ്വയം തന്റെ കാലടികളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ അവരാൽ അസാധ്യവും എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.
I know, Jehovah, that the way of man is not his own; it is not in a man that walketh to direct his steps.
24 യഹോവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ ക്രോധത്തിലല്ല, ന്യായമായ അളവിൽമാത്രം എന്നെ ശിക്ഷിക്കണമേ, അല്ലായെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ ശൂന്യമായിത്തീരും.
Jehovah, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
25 അങ്ങയുടെ കോപം അങ്ങയെ അറിയാത്ത ജനതകളുടെമേലും അങ്ങയുടെ നാമം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കാത്ത വംശങ്ങളുടെമേലും ചൊരിയണമേ. കാരണം അവർ യാക്കോബിനെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ അവനെ മുഴുവനായും വിഴുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അവന്റെ വാസസ്ഥാനത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
Pour out thy fury upon the nations that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name; for they have eaten up Jacob, yea, they have eaten him up and consumed him, and have laid waste his dwelling-place.
