യാക്കോബ് 4
1 നിങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ സംഘട്ടനങ്ങളും കലഹങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാകാൻ എന്താണു കാരണം? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ പോരാടുന്ന ദുർമോഹങ്ങളിൽനിന്നല്ലേ അവ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്?
From where [come] disputes and (from where *no*) quarrels among you? Surely from there, out of the passions of you those warring in the members of you?
2 ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവ ലഭിക്കാതെ വരുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ കൊലപാതകംവരെ ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഒട്ടേറെ മോഹിച്ചിട്ടും കിട്ടാതെ വരുമ്പോൾ കലഹിക്കുന്നു, സംഘട്ടനം നടത്തുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾക്കു ലഭിക്കാതെ പോകുന്നതിന്റെ കാരണമോ; ദൈവത്തോട് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നതാണ്.
You desire and not have; you kill and covet and not are able to obtain; You quarrel and wrangle; Not you have (now *k*) because not to ask you;
3 നിങ്ങൾ യാചിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ല; കാരണം, സുഖഭോഗങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെലവിടണം എന്ന ദുരുദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെയാണ് നിങ്ങൾ യാചിക്കുന്നത്.
You ask and not receive, because wrongly you ask, that in the pleasures of you you may spend [it].
4 അപഥസഞ്ചാരികളേ, ലോകത്തോടുള്ള മൈത്രി ദൈവത്തോടുള്ള ശത്രുതയാകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലേ? അതിനാൽ, ലോകത്തിന്റെ മിത്രമാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശത്രുവായിത്തീരുന്നു.
(adulterers — and *K*) Adulteresses! Surely you know that the friendship with the world hostility with God is? Who[ever] (maybe *N(k)O*) therefore shall choose a friend to be of the world, an enemy of God is appointed.
5 “നമ്മിൽ വസിക്കാനായി, ദൈവം അയച്ച ആത്മാവ് തന്നോടുള്ള പ്രതിബദ്ധത മറ്റാരുമായും പങ്കുവെക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തു പറയുന്നത് നിരർഥകമോ?
Or think you that in vain the Scripture speaks? With envy yearns the Spirit that (he settled *N(k)O*) in us,
6 ദൈവം നമുക്ക് കൃപ അധികം നൽകുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടാണ്, “ദൈവം അഹങ്കാരികളെ എതിർക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ വിനയാന്വിതർക്ക് അവിടന്ന് കൃപചൊരിയുന്നു” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തു പറയുന്നത്.
Greater however He gives grace; Therefore it says: God [the] proud opposes, to [the] humble however gives grace.
7 അതുകൊണ്ട്, ദൈവത്തിനു സ്വയം സമർപ്പിക്കുക; പിശാചിനോട് ചെറുത്തുനിൽക്കുക, അപ്പോൾ അവൻ നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ഓടിയകലും.
do be subjected therefore to God. do resist (however *no*) the devil and he will flee from you,
8 ദൈവത്തോട് അടുത്തുവരിക; അപ്പോൾ അവിടന്നു നിങ്ങളോട് അടുത്തുവരും. പാപികളേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകൾ നിർമലമാക്കുക; ഇരുമനസ്സുള്ളവരേ, ഹൃദയം ശുദ്ധമാക്കുക.
do draw near to God and He will draw near to you. do cleanse [your] hands, [you] sinners, and do purify hearts, [you] double-minded.
9 വിലാപത്തോടെ ദുഃഖിച്ചു കണ്ണുനീരൊഴുക്കുക; നിങ്ങളുടെ ആഹ്ലാദം ദുഃഖമായും ആനന്ദം വിഷാദമായും തീരട്ടെ.
do be grieved and do mourn and do weep; The laughter of you to mourning (should be turned *N(k)O*) and the joy to gloom.
10 കർത്തൃസന്നിധിയിൽ വിനയാന്വിതരായിരിക്കുക, അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവ് നിങ്ങളെ ഉയർത്തും.
do be humbled in the presence of (the *ko*) Lord and He will exalt you.
11 സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, പരസ്പരം അപവാദം പറയരുത്. സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്കു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിക്കുകയോ അവരെ വിധിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്ന ആൾ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിനു വിരുദ്ധമായി സംസാരിക്കുകയും അതിനെ വിധിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ വിധിക്കുമ്പോൾ നീ അതിനെ പാലിക്കുകയല്ല, അതിന്റെ വിധികർത്താവായി മാറുകയാണ്.
Not do speak against one another, brothers; The [one] speaking against [his] brother (or *N(k)O*) judging the brother of him speaks against [the] Law and judges [the] Law; If however [the] Law you judge, not you are a doer of [the] Law but a judge.
12 ന്യായപ്രമാണദാതാവും ന്യായകർത്താവും ഒരാൾമാത്രം; രക്ഷിക്കാനും നശിപ്പിക്കാനും ശക്തനായ ദൈവംതന്നെ. അയൽവാസിയെ ന്യായംവിധിക്കാൻ നിനക്ക് എന്ത് അധികാരം?
One there is Lawgiver (and Judge *NO*) who is being able to save and to destroy; You yourself (however *no*) who are (you who [are] judging *N(k)O*) the (neighbour? *N(K)O*)
13 “ഇന്നോ നാളെയോ ഞങ്ങൾ ഏതെങ്കിലും പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ഒരുവർഷം വ്യാപാരംചെയ്ത് ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കും” എന്നു പറയുന്നവരേ, കേൾക്കുക:
do come now you who [are] saying; Today (or *N(k)O*) tomorrow (we will go *N(k)O*) into such city and (will spend *N(k)O*) there a year (one *K*) and (will trade *N(k)O*) and (will make a profit; *N(k)O*)
14 നാളെ എങ്ങനെയുള്ളതായിരിക്കും എന്ന് ആർക്കും അറിയില്ലല്ലോ. എന്താണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ ജീവിതം? ക്ഷണനേരത്തേക്കു ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നതും പിന്നെ അദൃശ്യമാകുന്നതുമായ മൂടൽമഞ്ഞുമാത്രമല്ലേ?
[you] who not you know what [is] on the next day [is] What [is] (for *ko*) the life of you! A vapor just (you are *N(K)(o)*) for a little [while] appearing then (and *k*) also vanishing;
15 “കർത്തൃഹിതമെങ്കിൽമാത്രം ഞങ്ങൾ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന് ഇതൊക്കെ ചെയ്യും” എന്നല്ലേ നിങ്ങൾ പറയേണ്ടത്?
Instead [ought] to say you; If the Lord (shall wish *NK(o)*) both (we will live *N(k)O*) and (we will do *N(k)O*) this or that.
16 എന്നാൽ, നിങ്ങൾ സ്വയം പ്രശംസിക്കുകയും വീമ്പിളക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇത്തരം ആത്മപ്രശംസ എല്ലാം തിന്മയാണ്.
Now however you boast in the arrogance of you; All boasting such evil is.
17 ഒരാൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന നന്മ എന്താണെന്ന് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും അതു ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുന്നത് അവർക്കു പാപമാണ്.
To [him] knowing therefore good to do and not doing [it], sin to him it is.
