യെശയ്യാവ് 5

1 ഞാൻ എന്റെ പ്രിയതമന് ഒരു ഗാനം ആലപിക്കും, തന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഗാനംതന്നെ: എന്റെ പ്രിയതമനു ഫലപുഷ്ടിയുള്ള കുന്നിൻചെരിവിൽ ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

Let me sing, I pray you, for a well-beloved of mine, The song of my beloved concerning his vineyard: —A vineyard, had my well-beloved on a very fruitful hill;

2 അദ്ദേഹം അതുഴുത് അതിലെ കല്ലുകളെല്ലാം നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു, ഏറ്റവും വിശിഷ്ടമായ മുന്തിരിവള്ളി അതിൽ നട്ടു. അതിന്റെ മധ്യത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു കാവൽഗോപുരം പണിതു, ഒരു മുന്തിരിച്ചക്കും കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം നല്ല മുന്തിരിക്കായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അതിൽ കായ്ച്ചത് കാട്ടുമുന്തിരിയത്രേ.

And he thoroughly digged it, And gathered out the stones thereof, And planted it with a precious vine, And built a tower in the midst thereof, Moreover also a wine-press, hewed he therein, —Then waited he that it should bring forth grapes. And it brought forth wild grapes:

3 “ഇപ്പോൾ ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളേ, യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളേ, എനിക്കും എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിനും മധ്യേ നിങ്ങൾ വിധിയെഴുതുക.

Now, therefore, O inhabitant of Jerusalem, And men of Judah, —Judge, I pray you, betwixt me, and my vineyard: —

4 ഞാൻ അതിൽ ചെയ്തതിൽ അധികമായി എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിൽ എന്താണ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടിയിരുന്നത്? അതിൽ നല്ല മുന്തിരി കായ്ക്കാൻ ഞാൻ കാത്തിരുന്നപ്പോൾ എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണു കാട്ടുമുന്തിരി കായ്ച്ചത്?

What could have been done further to my vineyard, That I had not done in it? Why then—When I had waited that it should bring forth grapes, Brought it forth, wild grapes?

5 അതിനാൽ എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിനോടു ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയാം: ഞാൻ അതിന്റെ വേലി പൊളിച്ചുകളയും, അതു തിന്നുപോകും; ഞാൻ അതിന്റെ മതിൽ ഇടിച്ചുകളയും, അതു ചവിട്ടിമെതിക്കപ്പെടും.

Now, therefore, I pray you, let me tell, you, what I am about to do to my vineyard, —To take away the fence thereof And it shall be eaten up, To destroy the wall thereof And it shall be trodden down;

6 ഞാൻ അതിനെ വിജനദേശമാക്കും, അതിന്റെ തലപ്പുകൾ വെട്ടിയൊരുക്കുകയോ തടം കിളയ്ക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുകയില്ല, മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും അതിൽ മുളയ്ക്കും. അതിന്മേൽ മഴ ചൊരിയരുതെന്നു ഞാൻ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിക്കും.”

And I will make it a waste; —It shall be neither pruned nor hoed, But there shall come up briars and thorns, —And upon the clouds, will I lay a charge, That they rain thereon no rain.

7 സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പ് ഇസ്രായേൽ രാഷ്ട്രം ആകുന്നു, യെഹൂദാജനമാണ് അവിടത്തേക്ക് ആനന്ദംനൽകുന്ന മുന്തിരിവള്ളി. അങ്ങനെ അവിടന്നു ന്യായത്തിനായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ഉണ്ടായതു രക്തച്ചൊരിച്ചിൽ; നീതിക്കായി അവിടന്നു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ കേട്ടതോ, ദുരിതത്തിന്റെ നിലവിളി.

Surely the vineyard of Yahweh of hosts, is the house of Israel, And, the men of Judah, are the plantation in which he dearly delighted, —And he waited, For equity but lo! murderous iniquity, For the rule of right but lo the cry of the wronged.

8 മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കു സ്ഥലം ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം ദേശത്തിൽ തങ്ങൾക്കുമാത്രം ജീവിക്കാൻ കഴിയുംവിധം വീടിനോടു വീട് ചേർക്കുകയും നിലത്തോടു നിലം കൂട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്കു ഹാ, കഷ്ടം!

Alas for them who join house to house, Field to field, bring they near, —Until there is no room, But ye are left to dwell alone in the midst of the land.

9 ഞാൻ കേൾക്കെ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു: “രമ്യഹർമ്യങ്ങൾ ശൂന്യമാകും, നിശ്ചയം, വലുതും മനോഹരവുമായ അരമനകളിൽ നിവാസികൾ ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.

In mine ears, [said] Yahweh of hosts, —Verily, houses in abundance, shall become, a desolation, Large and fair, without inhabitant;

10 പത്ത് ഏക്കർ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ബത്തു വീഞ്ഞുമാത്രം ലഭിക്കും; ഒരു ഹോമർ വിത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ഏഫാ ധാന്യംമാത്രം കിട്ടും.”

For, ten yokes of vineyard, shall yield one bath, —And the seed of a homer, shall yield an ephah,

11 മദ്യത്തിന്റെ പിറകെ ഓടാനായി അതിരാവിലെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുകയും വീഞ്ഞു തങ്ങളെ മത്തു പിടിപ്പിക്കുംവരെ, രാത്രിയിൽ ഉറങ്ങാതെ കാത്തിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്കു ഹാ, കഷ്ടം!

Alas, for them who rise early in the morning that strong drink, they may pursue, —Who follow on in the evening cool [until] with wine, they are heated;

12 അവരുടെ വിരുന്നുകളിൽ കിന്നരവും വീണയും തപ്പും കുഴലും വീഞ്ഞും ഉണ്ട്, എങ്കിലും യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അവർ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവിടത്തെ കൈവേലയെപ്പറ്റി യാതൊരു ബഹുമാനവുമില്ല.

And it cometh to pass—that lyre and harp, timbrel and flute and wine are in their banquets, —But, the doing of Yahweh, they do not discern, And the work of his hands, have they not seen.

13 പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലായ്കയാൽ എന്റെ ജനം പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ പട്ടിണിക്കിരയാകുകയും സാമാന്യജനം ദാഹത്താൽ വരളുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു.

Therefore, are my people taken away captive before they know it, —And their honourable men are famished with hunger, And, their multitude, do gape for thirst.

14 അതിനാൽ പാതാളം അതിന്റെ തൊണ്ടതുറക്കുന്നു അതിന്റെ വായ് വിസ്താരത്തിൽ പിളർക്കുന്നു; ജെറുശലേമിലെ പ്രമാണികളും സാമാന്യജനവും കോലാഹലമുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവരും തിമിർത്താടുന്നവരും പാതാളത്തിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോകും. (Sheol h7585)

Therefore, hath hades enlarged her desire, And opened her mouth to its widest, —And their glory, and their multitude and their pomp. and he that is uproarious shall descend thereinto. (Sheol h7585)

15 അങ്ങനെ ജനം കുനിയുകയും എല്ലാവരും താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും, നിഗളികളുടെ കണ്ണുകളും താഴും.

And the mean man hath been bowed down And the mighty man hath been humbled, —Yea the looks of the haughty shall be humbled.

16 എന്നാൽ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ന്യായവിധിയിൽ ഉന്നതനായിരിക്കും, പരിശുദ്ധനായ ദൈവം തന്റെ നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികളാൽ പരിശുദ്ധൻതന്നെയെന്നു തെളിയിക്കപ്പെടും.

But Yahweh of hosts, hath been exalted, in justice, —And the GOD that is holy hath been hallowed in righteousness;

17 അപ്പോൾ കുഞ്ഞാടുകൾ തങ്ങളുടെ മേച്ചിൽപ്പുറത്ത് എന്നപോലെ മേയും; ധനികരുടെ ശൂന്യപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കുഞ്ഞാടുകൾ പുല്ലുതിന്നും.

Then shall the young rams feed where they please, —And, the wastes of the wealthy, shall strangers consume.

18 വ്യാജത്തിന്റെ പാശങ്ങളാൽ അനീതിയെയും വണ്ടിക്കയറുകൾകൊണ്ട് എന്നപോലെ പാപത്തെയും ഒപ്പം വലിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നവർക്കു ഹാ, കഷ്ടം!

Alas! for them Who draw on themselves punishment with cords of falsehood, —And as with waggon-bands, penalty:

19 “ദൈവം തന്റെ വേഗം കൂട്ടട്ടെ; വേല തിടുക്കത്തിൽ ചെയ്യട്ടെ, നമുക്കു കാണാമല്ലോ; ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം— അത് അടുത്തുവരട്ടെ, അത് നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ പതിയട്ടെ, അപ്പോൾ നമുക്കറിയാമല്ലോ,” എന്ന് അവർ പറയുന്നല്ലോ.

Who say—Let his work quicken—let it hasten, That we may see, —And let the purpose of Israel’s Holy One, draw near and come. That we may know!

20 തിന്മയെ നന്മയെന്നും നന്മയെ തിന്മയെന്നും വിളിക്കുകയും വെളിച്ചത്തെ ഇരുളും ഇരുളിനെ വെളിച്ചവും കയ്‌പിനെ മധുരവും മധുരത്തെ കയ്‌പും ആക്കിത്തീർക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക്, അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

Alas! for them Who call evil good and good evil, —Who put darkness for light and light for darkness, Who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

21 സ്വന്തം ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ജ്ഞാനികളും സ്വന്തം കാഴ്ചയിൽത്തന്നെ സമർഥരും ആയിരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

Alas for them Who are wise in their own eyes, —And in their own sight, are prudent.

22 വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നതിൽ വീരന്മാരായവർക്കും വീര്യമുള്ള മദ്യം കലർത്തുന്നതിൽ ശൂരന്മാരുമായവർക്കും അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

Alas for them Who are heroes to drink wine, —And men of valour to mingle strong drink,

23 അവർ കൈക്കൂലി വാങ്ങി ദുഷ്ടരെ കുറ്റവിമുക്തരാക്കുകയും നിഷ്കളങ്കർക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശം നിഷേധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Who justify the lawless, for a bribe, —Whereas the righteousness of the righteous, they take from him.

24 അതിനാൽ തീനാളം താളടിയെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും വൈക്കോൽ അഗ്നിജ്വാലയിൽ എരിഞ്ഞമരുന്നതുപോലെയും, അവരുടെ വേരുകൾ ദ്രവിച്ചുപോകും, അവരുടെ പൂക്കൾ പൊടിപോലെ പറന്നുപോകും; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അവർ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞല്ലോ, ഇസ്രായേലിൻ പരിശുദ്ധന്റെ വചനത്തെ അവർ നിന്ദിച്ചല്ലോ.

Therefore, As a tongue of fire, eateth up straw, And a flame reduceth, dry grass, to powder, Their root, like rottenness, shall become, And their blossom, like dust shall ascend, —Because they refused the law of Yahweh of hosts, And the utterance of the Holy One of Israel, they despised.

25 അതിനാൽ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം തന്റെ ജനത്തിനെതിരേ ജ്വലിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് അവർക്കെതിരേ കൈ ഉയർത്തി അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പർവതങ്ങൾ വിറയ്ക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ ശവശരീരങ്ങൾ തെരുവീഥിയിൽ ചവറുപോലെ നിരന്നുകിടക്കുന്നു. ഇതൊന്നുകൊണ്ടും അവിടത്തെ കോപം നീങ്ങിപ്പോയിട്ടില്ല, അവിടത്തെ കൈ ഇപ്പോഴും ഉയർന്നുതന്നെയിരിക്കുന്നു.

For this cause, did the anger of Yahweh kindle upon his own people, And he stretched out his hand against them and smote them—So that the mountains, trembled, And, their dead bodies, served, for fuel in the midst of the streets. For all this, hath his anger, not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched,

26 വിദൂരസ്ഥരായ ജനതകൾക്കുവേണ്ടി അവിടന്ന് ഒരു കൊടി ഉയർത്തും; ഭൂമിയുടെ അതിരുകളിൽനിന്ന് അവിടന്ന് അവരെ ചൂളമടിച്ചുവിളിക്കും. ഇതാ, തിടുക്കത്തിലും വേഗത്തിലും അവർ വരുന്നു.

Therefore will he lift up an ensign to the nations afar off, And signal for him from the end of the earth, —And lo! with hot haste, will he come:

27 അതിൽ ആരും ക്ഷീണിതരാകുകയോ വഴുതിവീഴുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല, ആരുംതന്നെ മയങ്ങുകയോ ഉറങ്ങുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; ആരുടെയും അരപ്പട്ട അഴിയുന്നില്ല, ഒരു ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറും പൊട്ടിപ്പോകുന്നില്ല.

None shall be weary, and none shall stumble in his midst, He shall neither slumber nor sleep, —Nor shall be loosened, the girdle of his loins, Nor snapped, the thong of his sandals:

28 അവരുടെ അമ്പുകൾ മൂർച്ചയുള്ളവ, എല്ലാവരുടെയും വില്ലുകൾ യുദ്ധത്തിനു സജ്ജമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കുതിരകളുടെ കുളമ്പ് തീക്കല്ലുപോലെ, അവരുടെ രഥചക്രങ്ങൾ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെയും.

Whose arrows, are sharpened, and all his bows, bent, —The hoofs of his horses, like flint, are accounted, And, his wheels, [are] like a storm-wind:

29 അവരുടെ അലർച്ച സിംഹത്തിന്റേതുപോലെ, സിംഹക്കുട്ടികൾപോലെ അവർ അലറുന്നു; ഇരപിടിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവ മുരളുകയും ആർക്കും വിടുവിക്കാൻ കഴിയാതവണ്ണം അവയെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോകുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു.

A roar, hath he, like a lioness, —He will roar like wild lions—And will growl, and lay hold on prey, and carry into safety, and there be none to deliver.

30 അന്നാളിൽ കടലിന്റെ ഇരമ്പൽപോലെ അവർ ശത്രുവിന്റെനേരേ അലറും. ആരെങ്കിലും ദേശത്തിൽ കണ്ണോടിച്ചാൽ, അന്ധകാരവും ദുരിതവുംമാത്രം അവശേഷിക്കും; സൂര്യൻപോലും മേഘങ്ങളാൽ മറയപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും.

Yea he will growl at him in that day, like the growling of the sea, —Though he look hard for the land, lo! the darkness of distress, Yea the light, hath grown dark in its clouds!
