യെശയ്യാവ് 28

1 എഫ്രയീമിലെ മദ്യപരുടെ അഹങ്കാരമായ ആ കിരീടത്തിന് ഹാ കഷ്ടം! വാടിക്കരിഞ്ഞുപോകും പുഷ്പംപോലെയുള്ള അവന്റെ ഉജ്ജ്വലസൗന്ദര്യത്തിന്, ഫലഭൂയിഷ്ഠമായ താഴ്വരയുടെ ശിരോഭൂഷണമായ നഗരത്തിന്, മദോന്മത്തരായി വീണുകിടക്കുന്നവരുടെ അഹന്തയായ നഗരത്തിനുംതന്നെ.

Woe to the crown of pride, of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley of those who are struck down by wine!

2 ഇതാ, കർത്താവിനു ശക്തനും ബലവാനുമായ ഒരുവനുണ്ട്. കന്മഴപോലെയും വിനാശകാരിയായ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെയും കൂലംകുത്തി ജലമൊഴുക്കുന്ന മഴപോലെയും പ്രളയം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന പെരുമഴ പോലെയും, അതിശക്തിയോടെ അവൻ അതിനെ നിലത്തു തള്ളിയിടും.

Behold, [it cometh] mighty and strong from the Lord, as a tempest of hail, a storm of destruction; as a tempest of mighty overflowing waters, will he cast it down to the earth with force.

3 എഫ്രയീമിലെ മദ്യപരുടെ അഹങ്കാരമായ ആ കിരീടം കാൽക്കീഴിൽ ചവിട്ടിമെതിക്കപ്പെടും.

Under feet shall be trodden the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim:

4 വാടിക്കരിഞ്ഞുപോകും പുഷ്പംപോലെയുള്ള അവന്റെ ഉജ്ജ്വലസൗന്ദര്യം, ഫലഭൂയിഷ്ഠമായ താഴ്വരയുടെ ശിരോഭൂഷണം, വിളവെടുപ്പിനുമുമ്പേ പഴുത്തുപോയ അത്തിപ്പഴംപോലെ ആയിത്തീരും— ജനം അതു കണ്ടാലുടനെ കൈനീട്ടി പറിച്ച് അവർ അതു വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു!

And the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley, shall be as its early ripe fruit before the summer; which one, when he just seeth it, while it is scarcely in his hand, hastily devoureth.

5 ആ ദിവസത്തിൽ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിൽ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ശോഭയുള്ള ഒരു കിരീടവും മഹത്ത്വകരമായ മകുടവുമായിരിക്കും.

On that day will the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

6 ന്യായാസനത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അവിടന്ന് നീതിബോധത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവും നഗരകവാടത്തിൽ ആക്രമണം ചെറുക്കുന്നവർക്ക് കരുത്തും ആയിരിക്കും.

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to those that drive back the battle to the gate [of the enemy].

7 എന്നാൽ ഇവരും വീഞ്ഞുനിമിത്തം ആടി നടക്കുകയും മദ്യംനിമിത്തം വേച്ചുപോകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു: പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും മദ്യം കുടിച്ച് ചാഞ്ചാടുന്നു, അവർ വീഞ്ഞിനാൽ മത്തരും മദോന്മത്തതയിൽ വേച്ചു നടക്കുന്നവരുമത്രേ. ദർശനങ്ങൾ ദർശിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർക്ക് തെറ്റ് പറ്റുന്നു, വിധി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അവർ പാളിപ്പോകുന്നു.

But these also are now stumbling through wine, and reeling through strong drink: priest and prophet are stumbling through strong drink, they are overpowered with wine, they reel through strong drink; they stumble in [divine] vision, they are unsteady in giving judgment.

8 മേശകളെല്ലാം ഛർദികൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു, വൃത്തിയുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥലംപോലും അവശേഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place [clean].

9 “അവൻ ആരെയാണ് ജ്ഞാനം അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? ആരോടാണ് അവൻ സന്ദേശം വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുന്നത്? ഇപ്പോൾ മുലകുടി മാറിയവരെയോ? ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അമ്മയുടെ മാറിടം വിട്ടകന്നവരെയോ?

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he give to understand doctrine? those that are weaned from the milk, those that are taken from the breasts.

10 കാരണം അവർ പറയുന്നു: കൽപ്പനയ്ക്കുമേൽ കൽപ്പന, ആജ്ഞയ്ക്കുമേൽ ആജ്ഞ, ഇവിടെ അൽപ്പം, അവിടെ അൽപ്പം, എന്നിങ്ങനെയാണ്.”

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

11 അതേ, വിക്കുള്ള അധരങ്ങളാലും വൈദേശികഭാഷകളാലും ദൈവം ഈ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും.

For [as] with stammering lips and a foreign tongue will he speak to this people;

12 “ഇതാണു വിശ്രമസ്ഥലം, ക്ഷീണിതർ വിശ്രമിക്കട്ടെ,” എന്നും “ഇതാണ് ആശ്വാസസ്ഥാനം,” എന്നും അവിടന്ന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു. എങ്കിലും അതു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാൻ അവർക്കു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

When he said unto them, This is the rest, cause ye the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear.

13 അതിനാൽ അവരോടുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ വചനം: “കൽപ്പനയ്ക്കുമേൽ കൽപ്പന, ആജ്ഞയ്ക്കുമേൽ ആജ്ഞ, ഇവിടെ അൽപ്പം, അവിടെ അൽപ്പം” എന്നായിരിക്കും. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ചെന്ന് പിന്നാക്കം വീണു മുറിവേറ്റ്, വലയിലകപ്പെട്ട്, ബദ്ധരായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിനുതന്നെ.

Therefore shall be unto them the word of the Lord, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; in order that they may go, and stumble backward, and be broken, and snared, and caught.

14 അതിനാൽ ജെറുശലേമിലുള്ള ഈ ജനത്തെ ഭരിക്കുന്ന പരിഹാസികളേ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്കുക.

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.

15 “മരണത്തോടു ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരു ഉടമ്പടിചെയ്തു, പാതാളവുമായി ഒരു ഉഭയസമ്മതത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്ന ദണ്ഡനം കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോൾ അത് ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തുകയില്ല, കാരണം ഞങ്ങൾ വ്യാജത്തെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ശരണമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു, വഞ്ചനയിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ ഒളിപ്പിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു,” എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നു. Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” (Sheol h7585)

16 അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഇതാ, സീയോനിൽ ഞാനൊരു കല്ല് സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നു, മാറ്റുരയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കല്ലുതന്നെ, ഉറപ്പുള്ള അടിസ്ഥാനമായി വിലയേറിയ ഒരു മൂലക്കല്ലും ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവർ പരിഭ്രാന്തരാകുകയില്ല.

Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner-stone, well founded: he that believeth will not make haste.

17 ഞാൻ ന്യായത്തെ അളവുനൂലും നീതിയെ തൂക്കുകട്ടയുമാക്കും; അപ്പോൾ വ്യാജം എന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ശരണത്തെ കന്മഴ തൂത്തെറിയും, വെള്ളം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഒളിവിടത്തെ ഒഴുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

And I will make of justice a measuring line, and of righteousness a plummet: and the hail shall sweep off the refuge of lies, and the hiding-place against the waters shall these flood away.

18 മരണത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉടമ്പടി റദ്ദാക്കപ്പെടും; പാതാളത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉഭയസമ്മതം നിലനിൽക്കുകയുമില്ല. അസഹനീയമായ പ്രഹരം നിങ്ങളെ തൂത്തെറിയുമ്പോൾ, നിങ്ങൾ തകർന്നുപോകും. (Sheol h7585)

And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with the nether world shall not have permanence; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by—then shall ye be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)

19 അതു കടന്നുവരുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും അതു നിങ്ങളെ വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോകും; പ്രഭാതംതോറും, രാത്രിയും പകലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ കടന്നുപോകും.” അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള കേൾവിതന്നെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സംഭ്രമമുണ്ടാക്കും.

As often as it passeth by shall it take you; for morning by morning shall it pass by, by day and by night; and the mere understanding of the report shall cause terror.

20 കിടക്ക നീണ്ടുനിവർന്നു കിടക്കാൻ വേണ്ടത്ര നീളമില്ലാത്തതും പുതപ്പ് പുതയ്ക്കാൻ ആവശ്യമായ വലുപ്പമില്ലാത്തതും ആകും.

For the bed shall be too short for [a man] to stretch himself out [on it]: and the covering too narrow to wrap himself in.

21 യഹോവ തന്റെ കൃത്യം, തന്റെ അസാധാരണമായ കൃത്യം നിർവഹിക്കാനും തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി, അസാമാന്യമായ പ്രവൃത്തി നിറവേറ്റാനും ഫെറാസിം മലയിൽ അവിടന്ന് എഴുന്നേറ്റതുപോലെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കും ഗിബെയോൻ താഴ്വരയിൽ അവിടന്ന് ക്രുദ്ധനായതുപോലെ ക്രുദ്ധനാകുകയും ചെയ്യും.

For as on mount Perazim will the Lord rise up, as in the valley of Gib'on will he be wroth, that he may do his work, his singular work; and to accomplish his labor, his strange labor.

22 ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ പരിഹാസം അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുക, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ചങ്ങലകൾ ഭാരമുള്ളതായിത്തീരും; കാരണം സകലഭൂതലത്തിന്മേലും വരുന്ന സംഹാരത്തെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള ഉത്തരവ് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

And now be ye no longer scornful, lest your bonds be made strong; for as completed and fully decreed have I heard it from the Lord Eternal of hosts over all the earth.

23 ചെവിചായ്ച്ച് എന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കുക; ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ എന്റെ വചനം ശ്രവിക്കുക.

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.

24 കൃഷിക്കാർ വിത്തു വിതയ്ക്കുന്നതിന് നിരന്തരം ഉഴുതുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമോ? അവർ എപ്പോഴും മണ്ണിളക്കി കട്ട ഉടച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമോ?

Doth the ploughman plough all the time to sow? doth he open and harrow his ground [continually]?

25 അവർ ഉപരിതലം നിരപ്പാക്കി കരിംജീരകം വിതയ്ക്കുകയും ജീരകം വിതറുകയും ഗോതമ്പ് അതിന്റെ നിരയിലും യവം അതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തും ചോളം അതിന്റെ നിലത്തിലും നടുകയുമല്ലേ ചെയ്യുന്നത്?

Is it not so? that, when he hath made level its surface he scattereth fennel, and streweth about cumin, and planteth the wheat in rows, and barley on its assigned [place], and millet on its proper spot?

26 അതിനായി അവരുടെ ദൈവം അവരെ വേണ്ടവിധം ഉപദേശിക്കുകയും അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

For his God instructed him rightly, taught him [so to do].

27 കരിംജീരകം മെതിവണ്ടി ഉപയോഗിച്ച് മെതിക്കുന്നില്ല, ജീരകത്തിന്റെമേൽ വണ്ടിച്ചക്രം ഉരുളുന്നതുമില്ല; കരിംജീരകം കമ്പുകൊണ്ടും ജീരകം കോൽകൊണ്ടും തല്ലിയാണ് എടുക്കുന്നത്.

Truly not with a threshing instrument is fennel threshed, and a wagon-wheel is not turned about upon cumin; but fennel is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a stick.

28 അപ്പമുണ്ടാക്കാനുള്ള ധാന്യം പൊടിക്കുകയാണ് വേണ്ടത്; അതുകൊണ്ട് അത് എന്നേക്കും മെതിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയില്ല. മെതിവണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രം അതിന്മേൽ ഉരുട്ടാം പക്ഷേ, ധാന്യം പൊടിക്കുന്നതിന് കുതിരകളെ ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.

Bread-corn is crushed; but not for ever doth [man] keep threshing it; and though he drive over it the wheel of his wagon and his horses, he will not [thereby] crush it.

29 ഇക്കാര്യവും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നു, അവിടന്ന് തന്റെ ആലോചന അത്ഭുതകരവും ജ്ഞാനം ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts; wonderful is he in counsel, and excellent in [his] wise deeds.
