ഹഗ്ഗായി 2

1 ഏഴാംമാസം ഇരുപത്തൊന്നാംതീയതി ഹഗ്ഗായിപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി:

In the seventh month, on the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by the prophet Haggai, saying:

2 “ശെയൽത്തിയേലിന്റെ മകനും യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയുമായ സെരൂബ്ബാബേലിനോടും യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനും മഹാപുരോഹിതനുമായ യോശുവയോടും ശേഷിച്ച സകലജനത്തോടും സംസാരിക്കുക. അവരോടു ചോദിക്കുക,

Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying: —

3 ‘ഈ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പഴയ പ്രതാപം കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള ആരെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളിൽ ശേഷിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതു കാണാൻ എങ്ങനെയുണ്ട്? ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒന്നും അവശേഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുപോലെ അല്ലയോ കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്?

Who is there left among you, That saw this house In its former glory? And what do ye see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes?

4 എന്നാൽ, സെരൂബ്ബാബേലേ, ഇപ്പോൾ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുക,’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. ‘യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനും മഹാപുരോഹിതനുമായ യോശുവയേ, ധൈര്യപ്പെടുക, ദേശത്തിലെ സകലജനവുമേ, ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു വേലചെയ്യുക. കാരണം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്,’ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith Jehovah; And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high-priest; And be strong, O all ye people of the land, saith Jehovah, and work! For I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts.

5 ‘നിങ്ങൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്ത ഉടമ്പടി ഇതുതന്നെ. എന്റെ ആത്മാവ് നിങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്. നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട.’

This is the covenant which I made with you when ye came out of Egypt, And my spirit remaineth among you: Fear ye not!

6 “സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘അൽപ്പസമയത്തിനുശേഷം ഞാൻ ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും സമുദ്രത്തെയും കരയെയും ഒന്നുകൂടി ഇളക്കും.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet once more, in a short time, I will shake the heavens and the earth, The sea and the dry land.

7 ഞാൻ സകലജനതകളെയും ഇളക്കും. അപ്പോൾ സകലജനതകൾക്കും പ്രിയങ്കരമായതു വരും; ഞാൻ ഈ ആലയത്തെ എന്റെ മഹത്ത്വംകൊണ്ടു നിറയ്ക്കും,’ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

I will shake all the nations, And here shall come the precious things of all the nations; And I will fill this house with glory, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

8 ‘വെള്ളി എനിക്കുള്ളത്; സ്വർണവും എനിക്കുള്ളത്’ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

Mine is the silver and mine the gold, Saith Jehovah of hosts;

9 ‘ഈ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വം പഴയ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മഹത്ത്വത്തെക്കാൾ വലുതായിരിക്കും,’ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. ‘ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു ഞാൻ സമാധാനം നൽകും,’ എന്നും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.”

Greater shall be the glory of this latter house than of the former, Saith Jehovah of hosts; And in this place will I give peace, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

10 ദാര്യാവേശിന്റെ രണ്ടാംവർഷത്തിൽ ഒൻപതാംമാസം ഇരുപത്തിനാലാം തീയതി യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന് ലഭിച്ചു:

On the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 “സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ന്യായപ്രമാണം എന്തുപറയുന്നു എന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു ചോദിക്കുക:

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the law from the priests, saying,

12 ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ മടക്കിൽ ദൈവത്തിനു സമർപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട മാംസം വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, ആ മടക്ക് അപ്പമോ പായസമോ വീഞ്ഞോ ഒലിവെണ്ണയോ മറ്റേതെങ്കിലും ഭക്ഷണമോ തൊട്ടാൽ അതു വിശുദ്ധമാകുമോ?’” “ഇല്ലാ,” എന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

If a man carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13 അപ്പോൾ ഹഗ്ഗായി ചോദിച്ചു: “ശവത്തെ തൊട്ടതുനിമിത്തം അശുദ്ധനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഇവയിൽ ഏതിനെയെങ്കിലും തൊട്ടാൽ അവ അശുദ്ധമാകുമോ?” “അതേ, അശുദ്ധമാകും,” എന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Haggai, If a man unclean by a dead body touch any of these things, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14 അപ്പോൾ ഹഗ്ഗായി പറഞ്ഞു: “‘എന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ഈ ജനവും ഈ രാജ്യവും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ആകുന്നു’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. ‘അവർ ചെയ്യുന്നതും അർപ്പിക്കുന്നതും എല്ലാം അശുദ്ധംതന്നെ!

Then answered Haggai and said: — So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith Jehovah; And so is all the work of their hands; And that which they offer there is unclean.

15 “‘ഇപ്പോൾ, ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇന്നുമുതൽ സൂക്ഷ്മതയോടെ ചിന്തിക്കുക—യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ കല്ലിന്മേൽ കല്ലുവെക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് എങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു എന്നു ചിന്തിക്കുക.

And now, I pray you, consider [[how it hath gone with you]] From that day and upward, From the time before one stone was laid upon another in the temple of Jehovah.

16 ഒരുവൻ ഇരുപത് അളക്കാൻ ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ പത്തുമാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ; അൻപതുപാത്രം വീഞ്ഞു കോരാൻ ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവിടെ ഇരുപതുമാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ.

Since that time one hath come to a heap of twenty measures, And there were but ten; One hath come to a vat to draw out fifty vessels from the wine-press, And there were but twenty;

17 നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളുടെ എല്ലാ അധ്വാനങ്ങളെയും വെൺകതിർ, വിഷമഞ്ഞ്, കന്മഴ എന്നിവയാൽ ഞാൻ ബാധിച്ചു, എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങൾ എങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞില്ല’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

I have smitten you with blasting, with mildew, and with hail, Even all the works of your hands; Yet none among you hath turned to me, saith Jehovah.

18 ‘ഇന്നുമുതൽ, ഒൻപതാംമാസം ഇരുപത്തിനാലാംതീയതിമുതൽ, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ട ദിവസത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ചിന്തിക്കുക. ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ ചിന്തിക്കുക:

Consider, I pray you, From that day and upward, From the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, From the day when the foundation of the temple of Jehovah was laid, Consider ye!

19 കളപ്പുരയിൽ ഇനി വിത്തു ശേഷിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയും അത്തിവൃക്ഷവും മാതളവും ഒലിവുമരവും ഇതുവരെ ഫലം നൽകിയിട്ടില്ല. “‘ഇന്നുമുതൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും.’”

Is there yet seed in the barn? Yea, as yet the vine, and the fig-tree, and pomegranate, and the olive-tree have not borne. But from this day will I bless you.

20 ആ മാസം ഇരുപത്തിനാലാം തീയതി രണ്ടാമതും യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് ഹഗ്ഗായിക്ക് ഉണ്ടായി:

And the word of Jehovah came the second time to Haggai, on the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

21 “യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായ സെരൂബ്ബാബേലിനോടു പറയുക: ഞാൻ ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും ഇളക്കും,

Speak to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, and say: — I will shake the heavens and the earth,

22 ഞാൻ രാജകീയ സിംഹാസനങ്ങൾ അട്ടിമറിക്കും; വിദേശരാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ശക്തി തകർക്കും. രഥങ്ങളെയും സാരഥികളെയും ഞാൻ അട്ടിമറിക്കും; കുതിരകളും കുതിരച്ചേവകരും സ്വന്തസഹോദരന്മാരുടെ വാളിനാൽ വീഴും.

And I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms, And I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, And I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them, And the horses and their riders shall come down, One by the sword of the other.

23 “സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു, ‘എന്റെ ദാസനായ ശെയൽത്തിയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരൂബ്ബാബേലേ, ആ ദിവസം നിന്നെ ഞാൻ എടുത്ത് എന്റെ മുദ്രമോതിരമാക്കും’ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will take thee, O Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, my servant, saith Jehovah, And keep thee as a signet-ring; For thee have I chosen, saith Jehovah of hosts.
