ഉല്പത്തി 40
1 കുറെ കാലത്തിനുശേഷം ഈജിപ്റ്റുരാജാവിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞുകാരനും അപ്പക്കാരനും തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനായ ഈജിപ്റ്റുരാജാവിനെതിരേ തെറ്റുചെയ്തു.
And it comes to pass, after these things—the butler of the king of Egypt and the baker have sinned against their lord, against the king of Egypt;
2 പ്രധാന വീഞ്ഞുകാരനും പ്രധാന അപ്പക്കാരനും ആയ ഈ രണ്ട് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരുടെ നേർക്കു ഫറവോനു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.
and Pharaoh is angry against his two eunuchs, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers,
3 അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ അംഗരക്ഷകരുടെ അധിപന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ, യോസേഫിനെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന അതേ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ അടച്ചു.
and puts them in confinement in the house of the chief of the executioners, into the round-house, the place where Joseph [is] a prisoner,
4 അംഗരക്ഷകരുടെ അധിപൻ അവരെ യോസേഫിനെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയും അവൻ അവരെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. കുറെക്കാലം അവർ തടവിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ,
and the chief of the executioners charges Joseph with them, and he serves them; and they are in confinement [for some] days.
5 കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന അവർ ഇരുവരും—ഈജിപ്റ്റുരാജാവിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞുകാരനും അപ്പക്കാരനും—വ്യത്യസ്ത അർഥം വരുന്ന ഓരോ സ്വപ്നം ഒരേരാത്രിയിൽ കണ്ടു.
And they dream a dream both of them, each his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker whom the king of Egypt has, who [are] prisoners in the round-house.
6 പിറ്റേന്നു രാവിലെ യോസേഫ് അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ വിഷാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ടു.
And Joseph comes to them in the morning, and sees them, and behold, they [are] morose;
7 യജമാനന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ തന്നോടൊപ്പം ബന്ധനത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്ന, ഫറവോന്റെ ആ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരോട് അവൻ, “ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖം ഇത്ര മ്ലാനമായിരിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
and he asks Pharaoh’s eunuchs who [are] with him in confinement in the house of his lord, saying, “Why [are] your faces sad today?”
8 “ഞങ്ങൾ രണ്ടുപേരും ഓരോ സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ അവയെ വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കാൻ ആരുമില്ല,” എന്ന് അവർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ യോസേഫ് അവരോട്, “വ്യാഖ്യാനം ദൈവത്തിനുള്ളതല്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു പറയുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And they say to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it”; and Joseph says to them, “Are interpretations not with God? Please recount to me.”
9 പ്രധാന വീഞ്ഞുകാരൻ തന്റെ സ്വപ്നം യോസേഫിനെ പറഞ്ഞുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു; അവൻ ഇങ്ങനെ വിവരിച്ചു: “എന്റെ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെമുമ്പിൽ ഒരു മുന്തിരിവള്ളി കണ്ടു.
And the chief of the butlers recounts his dream to Joseph and says to him, “In my dream, then behold, a vine [is] before me!
10 ആ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിക്കു മൂന്നു ശാഖകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അതു തളിരിട്ടപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ പുഷ്പിക്കുകയും മുന്തിരിക്കുലകൾ പഴുത്തു പാകമാകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And in the vine [are] three branches, and it [is] as it were flourishing; gone up has its blossom, its clusters have ripened grapes;
11 ഫറവോന്റെ പാനപാത്രം എന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, ഞാൻ മുന്തിരിങ്ങ എടുത്ത് ഫറവോന്റെ പാനപാത്രത്തിലേക്കു പിഴിഞ്ഞൊഴിച്ച് പാത്രം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ കൊടുത്തു.”
and Pharaoh’s cup [is] in my hand, and I take the grapes and press them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.”
12 യോസേഫ് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു, “അതിന്റെ അർഥം ഇതാണ്: മൂന്നു ശാഖകൾ മൂന്നു ദിവസങ്ങളാണ്.
And Joseph says to him, “This [is] its interpretation: the three branches are three days;
13 ഫറവോൻ മൂന്നുദിവസത്തിനകം നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തി നിന്റെ പഴയ സ്ഥാനത്ത് ആക്കും; നീ ഫറവോന്റെ പാനപാത്രവാഹകൻ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ചെയ്തുപോന്നിരുന്നതുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പാനപാത്രം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ കൊടുക്കും.
yet, within three days Pharaoh lifts up your head, and has put you back on your station, and you have given the cup of Pharaoh into his hand, according to the former custom when you were his butler.
14 എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ശുഭമായിത്തീരുമ്പോൾ എന്നെ ഓർക്കുകയും എന്നോടു ദയ കാണിക്കുകയും വേണം; എന്റെ കാര്യം ഫറവോനോടു പറഞ്ഞ് എന്നെ ഈ തടവറയിൽനിന്ന് മോചിപ്പിക്കേണം.
Surely if you have remembered me with you, when it is well with you, and have please done kindness with me, and have made mention of me to Pharaoh, then you have brought me out from this house,
15 എബ്രായരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് എന്നെ ബലാൽക്കാരമായി പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നതാണ്; എന്നെ ഇങ്ങനെ തടവറയിൽ അടയ്ക്കാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഇവിടെയും ഞാൻ യാതൊന്നുംതന്നെ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.”
for I was really stolen from the land of the Hebrews; and here also I have done nothing that they have put me in the pit [for].”
16 ശുഭസൂചകമായ വ്യാഖ്യാനമാണു യോസേഫ് നൽകിയതെന്നു കണ്ടിട്ട് പ്രധാന അപ്പക്കാരൻ യോസേഫിനോട്: “ഞാനും ഒരു സ്വപ്നംകണ്ടു: എന്റെ തലയിൽ മൂന്നുകുട്ട അപ്പം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And the chief of the bakers sees that he has interpreted good, and he says to Joseph, “I also [am] in a dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread [are] on my head,
17 മുകളിലത്തെ കുട്ടയിൽ ഫറവോനുവേണ്ടി ചുട്ടെടുത്ത എല്ലാവിധ ഭക്ഷ്യവസ്തുക്കളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ പക്ഷികൾ എന്റെ തലയിലെ ആ കുട്ടയിൽനിന്ന് അതെല്ലാം തിന്നുകയായിരുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
and in the highest basket [are] of all [kinds] of Pharaoh’s food, work of a baker; and the birds are eating them out of the basket, from off my head.”
18 അപ്പോൾ യോസേഫ് അവനോട്, “അതിന്റെ അർഥം ഇതാണ്: മൂന്നുകുട്ടകൾ മൂന്നുദിവസം.
And Joseph answers and says, “This [is] its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;
19 ഫറവോൻ മൂന്നുദിവസത്തിനകം നിന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയുകയും, നിന്നെ ഒരു മരത്തിൽ തൂക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും; പക്ഷികൾ നിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
yet, within three days Pharaoh lifts up your head from off you, and has hanged you on a tree, and the birds have eaten your flesh from off you.”
20 മൂന്നാംദിവസം ഫറവോന്റെ ജന്മദിനം ആയിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ എല്ലാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാർക്കുമായി ഒരു വിരുന്നുസൽക്കാരം നടത്തി. ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രധാന വീഞ്ഞുകാരനെയും പ്രധാന അപ്പക്കാരനെയും ഓർത്തു.
And it comes to pass, on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, that he makes a banquet to all his servants, and lifts up the head of the chief of the butlers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants,
21 പ്രധാന വീഞ്ഞുകാരനെ അദ്ദേഹം വീണ്ടും അവന്റെ പഴയ സ്ഥാനത്തു നിയമിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് വീണ്ടും ഫറവോന്റെ കൈയിൽ പാനപാത്രം കൊടുക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചു.
and he puts back the chief of the butlers to his butlership, and he gives the cup into the hand of Pharaoh;
22 എന്നാൽ പ്രധാന അപ്പക്കാരനെ, യോസേഫ് വ്യാഖ്യാനത്തിൽ അവനോട് അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ ഫറവോൻ തൂക്കിക്കൊന്നു.
and the chief of the bakers he has hanged, as Joseph has interpreted to them;
23 എന്നാൽ പ്രധാന വീഞ്ഞുകാരൻ യോസേഫിനെ ഓർത്തില്ല; അദ്ദേഹം യോസേഫിനെ പാടേ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.
and the chief of the butlers has not remembered Joseph, but forgets him.
