ഉല്പത്തി 4
1 ഇതിനുശേഷം ആദാം തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ ഹവ്വായെ അറിഞ്ഞു. അവൾ ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് കയീന് ജന്മംനൽകി. “യഹോവ സഹായിച്ചതിനാൽ എനിക്കൊരു പുരുഷപ്രജ ലഭിച്ചു,” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
Afterward the man knew Heuah his wife, which conceiued and bare Kain, and said, I haue obteined a man by the Lord.
2 ഹവ്വാ വീണ്ടും ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് കയീന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഹാബേലിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. ഹാബേൽ ആട്ടിടയനും കയീൻ നിലത്ത് പണിയെടുക്കുന്നവനും ആയിത്തീർന്നു.
And againe she brought foorth his brother Habel, and Habel was a keeper of sheepe, and Kain was a tiller of the ground.
3 വിളവെടുപ്പിന്റെ സമയമായപ്പോൾ കയീൻ വയലിലെ വിളവിൽനിന്ന് ഒരംശം യഹോവയ്ക്കു യാഗമായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
And in processe of time it came to passe, that Kain brought an oblation vnto the Lord of the fruite of the ground.
4 ഹാബേലോ, തന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തിലെ കടിഞ്ഞൂലുകളിൽനിന്ന് മേൽത്തരം ആടുകളെ യാഗത്തിനു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. യഹോവ ഹാബേലിലും അവന്റെ യാഗത്തിലും സംപ്രീതനായി;
And Habel also him selfe brought of the first fruites of his sheepe, and of the fat of them, and the Lord had respect vnto Habel, and to his offering,
5 എന്നാൽ, കയീനിലും അവന്റെ യാഗാർപ്പണത്തിലും പ്രസാദിച്ചില്ല. കയീൻ ഇതിൽ വളരെ കുപിതനായി; അവന്റെ മുഖം മ്ലാനമായി.
But vnto Kain and to his offering he had no regarde: wherefore Kain was exceeding wroth, and his countenance fell downe.
6 യഹോവ കയീനോട്: “നീ കോപിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്? നിന്റെ മുഖം മ്ലാനമാകുന്നതും എന്തിന്? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then ye Lord said vnto Kain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance cast downe?
7 നന്മയായതു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ നീ അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെടുകയില്ലയോ? എന്നാൽ നന്മയായതു പ്രവർത്തിക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ പാപം നിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കൽ കിടക്കുന്നു, അതു നിന്നെ അധീനനാക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു, നീയോ അതിനെ കീഴടക്കണം” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
If thou do well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sinne lieth at the doore: also vnto thee his desire shalbe subiect, and thou shalt rule ouer him.
8 ഒരു ദിവസം കയീൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഹാബേലിനോട്, “നമുക്കു വയലിലേക്കു പോകാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ വയലിൽ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ കയീൻ സഹോദരനായ ഹാബേലിനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു കൊലപ്പെടുത്തി.
Then Kain spake to Habel his brother. And when they were in the fielde, Kain rose vp against Habel his brother, and slewe him.
9 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ കയീനോട്, “നിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ഹാബേൽ എവിടെ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “എനിക്കറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ കാവൽക്കാരനോ?” എന്നു പ്രതിവചിച്ചു.
Then the Lord said vnto Kain, Where is Habel thy brother? Who answered, I cannot tell. Am I my brothers keeper?
10 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “നീ ഈ ചെയ്തത് എന്ത്? നോക്കൂ! നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ രക്തം ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു.
Againe he said, What hast thou done? the voyce of thy brothers blood cryeth vnto me from the earth.
11 ഇപ്പോൾ നീ ശാപഗ്രസ്തനായി; നിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ രക്തം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങാൻ വായ് തുറന്ന ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീ പുറത്താക്കപ്പെടും.
Now therefore thou art cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receiue thy brothers blood from thine hand.
12 നീ നിലത്തു കൃഷി ചെയ്താൽ ഇനിയൊരിക്കലും അതു നിനക്കു പുഷ്ടിയോടെ വിളവുനൽകുകയില്ല. നീ ഭൂമുഖത്തു ലക്ഷ്യമില്ലാതെ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയുന്ന അഭയാർഥിയുമായിരിക്കും.”
When thou shalt till the grounde, it shall not henceforth yeelde vnto thee her strength: a vagabond and a runnagate shalt thou be in the earth.
13 അതിന് കയീൻ യഹോവയോട്: “എന്റെ ശിക്ഷ എനിക്കു വഹിക്കാവുന്നതിലും അധികമാണ്!
Then Kain said to the Lord, My punishment is greater, then I can beare.
14 ഇന്ന് ഈ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് അങ്ങ് എന്നെ ആട്ടിപ്പായിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് ഇനി ഞാൻ ഒളിച്ചുകഴിയേണ്ടതായി വരും; ഞാൻ ഭൂമുഖത്ത് അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയുന്ന അഭയാർഥിയാകും. എന്നെ ആരെങ്കിലും കണ്ടെത്തിയാൽ അവൻ എന്നെ കൊന്നുകളയും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Behold, thou hast cast me out this day from the earth, and from thy face shall I be hid, and shalbe a vagabond, and a runnagate in the earth, and whosoeuer findeth me, shall slay me.
15 യഹോവ അതിനു മറുപടിയായി: “അങ്ങനെയല്ല, ആരെങ്കിലും കയീനെ വധിച്ചാൽ അവനോടുള്ള പ്രതികാരം ഏഴുമടങ്ങായിരിക്കും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. കയീനെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്ന ആരും അവനെ വധിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യഹോവ അവന്റെമേൽ ഒരടയാളം വെച്ചു.
Then the Lord said vnto him, Doubtlesse whosoeuer slayeth Kain, he shalbe punished seue folde. And the Lord set a marke vpon Kain, lest any man finding him should kill him.
16 കയീൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി ഏദെനു കിഴക്കുള്ള നോദ് ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു താമസിച്ചു.
Then Kain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod towarde the Eastside of Eden.
17 കയീൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ അറിഞ്ഞു. അവൾ ഗർഭിണിയായി, ഹാനോക്കിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. അക്കാലത്ത് കയീൻ ഒരു പട്ടണം പണിതു. അതിന് അയാൾ തന്റെ മകനായ ഹാനോക്കിന്റെ പേരിട്ടു.
Kain also knewe his wife, which conceiued and bare Henoch: and he built a citie, and called the name of the citie by ye name of his sonne, Henoch.
18 ഹാനോക്കിന് ഈരാദ് ജനിച്ചു. ഈരാദിൽനിന്ന് മെഹൂയയേൽ ജനിച്ചു; മെഹൂയയേലിൽനിന്ന് മെഥൂശയേൽ ജനിച്ചു; മെഥൂശയേലിൽനിന്ന് ലാമെക്ക് ജനിച്ചു.
And to Henoch was borne Irad, and Irad begate Mehuiael, and Mehuiael begate Methushael, and Methushael begate Lamech.
19 ലാമെക്ക് രണ്ടുസ്ത്രീകളെ വിവാഹംചെയ്തു; ഒരുവൾക്ക് ആദാ എന്നും മറ്റവൾക്കു സില്ല എന്നും പേരായിരുന്നു.
And Lamech tooke him two wiues: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 ആദാ യാബാലിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അയാൾ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ പാർക്കുന്നവർക്കും കന്നുകാലികളെ പരിപാലിക്കുന്നവർക്കും പിതാവായിരുന്നു.
And Adah bare Iabal, who was the father of such as dwell in the tents, and of such as haue cattell.
21 അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ പേര് യൂബാൽ എന്നായിരുന്നു. യൂബാൽ കിന്നരം വായിക്കുകയും ഓടക്കുഴൽ ഊതുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന എല്ലാവർക്കും പിതാവായിരുന്നു.
And his brothers name was Iubal, who was the father of all that play on the harpe and organes.
22 സില്ലയ്ക്ക് തൂബാൽ-കയീൻ എന്നൊരു മകൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അയാൾ വെങ്കലവും ഇരുമ്പുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള എല്ലാത്തരം ഉപകരണങ്ങളും വാർത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നു. തൂബാൽ-കയീന് നയമാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു സഹോദരിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And Zillah also bare Tubal-kain, who wrought cunningly euery craft of brasse and of yron: and the sister of Tubal-kain was Naamah.
23 ലാമെക്ക് തന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ആദയേ, സില്ലയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക; ലാമെക്കിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുക. എന്നെ മുറിവേൽപ്പിച്ചതിനു ഞാൻ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ കൊന്നിരിക്കുന്നു, എന്നെ മുറിപ്പെടുത്തിയതിന് ഒരു യുവാവിനെത്തന്നെ.
Then Lamech saide vnto his wiues Adah and Zillah, Heare my voyce, ye wiues of Lamech: hearken vnto my speach: for I would slay a man in my wound, and a yong man in mine hurt.
24 കയീനുവേണ്ടി ഏഴുമടങ്ങു പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുമെങ്കിൽ, ലാമെക്കിനുവേണ്ടി എഴുപത്തിയേഴു മടങ്ങായിരിക്കും.”
If Kain shalbe auenged seuen folde, truely Lamech, seuentie times seuen folde.
25 ആദാം വീണ്ടും തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ അറിഞ്ഞു. അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവന് ശേത്ത് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. “കയീൻ ഹാബേലിനെ വധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് അവനു പകരമായി ദൈവം എനിക്കു മറ്റൊരു ശിശുവിനെ തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
And Adam knewe his wife againe, and she bare a sonne, and she called his name Sheth: for God, saide she, hath appointed me another seede for Habel, because Kain slewe him.
26 ശേത്തിനും ഒരു മകൻ ജനിച്ചു. അവന് ഏനോശ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. അക്കാലത്ത് മനുഷ്യർ യഹോവയുടെനാമത്തിലുള്ള ആരാധന തുടങ്ങി.
And to ye same Sheth also there was borne a sonne, and he called his name Enosh. Then beganne men to call vpon the name of the Lord.
