ഗലാത്യർ 2

1 പിന്നീട്, പതിന്നാലു വർഷത്തിനുശേഷം ഞാനും ബർന്നബാസും, തീത്തോസിനെയുംകൂട്ടി വീണ്ടും ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി.

FOURTEEN years afterwards I again went up to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also along with us.

2 എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച ഒരു ദർശനം അനുസരിച്ചായിരുന്നു അത്. ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ തുടരുന്നതും മുമ്പ് തുടർന്നുവന്നിരുന്നതുമായ പ്രയത്നങ്ങൾ പ്രയോജനരഹിതമായവ ആണോ എന്നുറപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി സഭയുടെ നേതൃനിരയിലുള്ളവരുമായി ഒരു സ്വകാര്യ കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തി; ഞാൻ യെഹൂദേതരരോടു ഘോഷിക്കുന്ന സുവിശേഷം അവരുടെമുമ്പാകെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

And I went up then by revelation, and laid before them that gospel which I preach among the Heathen, but in private conference with those who were of the first importance, that haply I might not run, nor had run in vain.

3 എന്നോടൊപ്പമുണ്ടായിരുന്ന തീത്തോസ്, ഒരു ഗ്രീക്കുകാരൻ ആയിരുന്നിട്ടുപോലും അയാൾ പരിച്ഛേദനമേൽക്കാൻ ആരും അപ്പോൾ നിർബന്ധിച്ചില്ല.

And even Titus, who was with me, though a Greek, was not compelled to be circumcised:

4 നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ നുഴഞ്ഞുകയറിയ ചില വ്യാജസഹോദരന്മാർ ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള നമ്മുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് രഹസ്യാന്വേഷണം നടത്തി നമ്മെ യെഹൂദ ആചാരമര്യാദകൾക്ക് അധീനരാക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു.

but this I did because of false brethren artfully introduced, who came to pry into our liberty which we hold in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

5 എങ്കിലും ഒരു നിമിഷംപോലും ഞങ്ങൾ അവർക്ക് അധീനരായില്ല. സുവിശേഷസത്യം നിങ്ങളിൽ സുസ്ഥിരമാകുന്നതിനാണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചത്.

to whom not even for an hour have we yielded subjection, that the truth of the gospel might abide with you.

6 സഭയുടെ നേതൃത്വനിരയിലുള്ളവരെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന ആരും ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞ സന്ദേശത്തോട് ഒന്നുംതന്നെ കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തില്ല. അവർ ഏതു നിലയിലുള്ളവർ ആയിരുന്നാലും അവയൊന്നും എനിക്ക് ബാധകവുമല്ല. കാരണം, ദൈവത്തിനു പക്ഷഭേദമില്ലല്ലോ!

But from those who appeared men of the greatest importance, (what sort of men soever they were it maketh no difference to me: God accepteth not a man’s person; ) for these important personages in conference added nothing to me;

7 ഞാൻ യെഹൂദേതരരോട് സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിക്കാൻ നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുപോലെതന്നെ പത്രോസ് യെഹൂദരോടും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ മനസ്സിലാക്കി.

but contrariwise when they saw that I was entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcision, as Peter was to the circumcision:

8 കാരണം, യെഹൂദരുടെ അപ്പൊസ്തലനായ പത്രോസിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ച ദൈവംതന്നെയാണ് യെഹൂദേതരരുടെ അപ്പൊസ്തലനായ എന്നിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചത്.

(for he that wrought powerfully by Peter in his apostolic mission to the circumcision, wrought mightily also by me among the Gentiles.)

9 സഭയിലെ അംഗീകൃത നേതൃത്വനിരയിലുള്ള യാക്കോബും പത്രോസും യോഹന്നാനും, എനിക്കു നൽകപ്പെട്ട കൃപയെക്കുറിച്ച് ബോധ്യം വന്നതിനാൽ, ബർന്നബാസിനും എനിക്കും കൂട്ടായ്മയുടെ വലതുകരം തന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ യെഹൂദേതരരുടെ മധ്യത്തിലേക്കും അവർ യെഹൂദരുടെ മധ്യത്തിലേക്കും പോകാൻ തീരുമാനമെടുത്തു.

And when they knew the grace which was bestowed on me, James and Cephas and John, who appeared to be the pillars of the church, gave unto me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision:

10 ദരിദ്രരെ ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളണം എന്നുമാത്രമാണ് അവർ ഞങ്ങളോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത്. ഇതു ചെയ്യാൻ ഞാൻ ഉത്സുകനും ആയിരുന്നു.

only desiring that we would remember the poor―the very thing which I have also been diligent to perform.

11 എന്നാൽ, പത്രോസ് അന്ത്യോക്യയിൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ, അയാൾ കുറ്റക്കാരനെന്നുകണ്ട് ഞാൻ അയാളെ പരസ്യമായി എതിർത്തു.

But when Peter came to Antioch I withstood him to his face, because he was blameable.

12 കാരണം, യെഹൂദേതരരോടൊത്തു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുവന്ന പത്രോസ്, യാക്കോബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് ചിലർ വന്നപ്പോൾ, യെഹൂദരെ ഭയന്ന് സ്വയം പിന്മാറുകയും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കാതെ മാറിനിൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

For before certain persons came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles, but when they were come, he withdrew, and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision.

13 ആയതിനാൽ, മറ്റു യെഹൂദരും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം ഈ കാപട്യത്തിൽ പങ്കുകാരായി; ബർന്നബാസുപോലും അവരുടെ കാപട്യത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചിഴയ്ക്കപ്പെടാൻ ഇത് കാരണമായിത്തീർന്നു.

And the other Jews were guilty of the same dissimulation with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.

14 അവർ സുവിശേഷസത്യം അനുസരിച്ചല്ല പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത് എന്നു ഞാൻ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ എല്ലാവരുടെയും സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ ഞാൻ പത്രോസിനോട്: “യെഹൂദനായ താങ്കൾ യെഹൂദനെപ്പോലെയല്ല, യെഹൂദേതരനെപ്പോലെയാണ് ജീവിക്കുന്നത്. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ യെഹൂദരുടെ ജീവിതശൈലി അനുവർത്തിക്കാൻ യെഹൂദേതരരെ നിർബന്ധിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന്?

But when I saw that they walked not directly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to judaize?

15 “ജന്മനാ നാം യെഹൂദരാണ്; പാപികളായ യെഹൂദേതരരല്ല.

We who are Jews by descent, and not sinners sprung from Gentiles,

16 ഒരു വ്യക്തി നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളാലല്ല, മറിച്ച് യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്താലാണ് എന്ന് അറിയുക. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളാലല്ല, ക്രിസ്തുവിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസംവഴി നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിനാണ് നാം ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചത്. കാരണം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ അനുഷ്ഠാനത്താൽ ആരും നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നില്ല.

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law; because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

17 “നമ്മുടെ നീതീകരണത്തിനായി ക്രിസ്തുവിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുമ്പോൾ നാം പാപികളെന്നു തെളിഞ്ഞാൽ ക്രിസ്തു പാപത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരനാകുമോ? ഒരിക്കലുമില്ല!

For if seeking to be justified by Christ, we also ourselves should be found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? God forbid.

18 ഞാൻ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞതിനെ ഞാൻതന്നെ പുനർനിർമിക്കുകയാണെങ്കിൽ സ്വയം നിയമലംഘകനെന്നു സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയാണ്.

For if I build up again the very same things which I have pulled down, I stamp myself a transgressor.

19 “ദൈവത്തിനായി ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിനു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽക്കൂടി ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് ഞാൻ മരിച്ചു.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I should live unto God.

20 ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തുവിനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനിമുതൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നത് ഞാനല്ല; ക്രിസ്തു ആണ് എന്നിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി സ്വയം അർപ്പിക്കുകയുംചെയ്ത ദൈവപുത്രനിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസംമൂലമാണ് ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ ശരീരത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നത്.

I am crucified with Christ, yet I live; though no more I, but Christ liveth in me: and my present life in the flesh, is a life by faith in the Son of God, who hath loved me, and delivered up himself for me.

21 ദൈവകൃപയെ ഞാൻ നിരാകരിക്കുന്നില്ല. നീതീകരണം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താലാണെങ്കിൽ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ മരണം നിരർഥകമാണ്!”

I do not set at nought the grace of God; for if righteousness came by the law, truly Christ hath died in vain.
