പുറപ്പാട് 4

1 അതിന് മോശ, “അവർ എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയോ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ ‘യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിട്ടില്ല’ എന്നു പറയും” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And Moses answered and said, If they believe me not, and do not listen to my voice (for they will say, God has not appeared to you), what shall I say to them?

2 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ അവനോട്, “നിന്റെ കൈയിലിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഒരു വടി,” അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And the Lord said to him, What is this thing that is in your hand? and he said, A rod.

3 “അതു നിലത്തിടുക,” എന്ന് യഹോവ കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ അതു നിലത്തിട്ടു. അതൊരു പാമ്പായിത്തീർന്നു. അവൻ അതിന്റെ അടുത്തുനിന്ന് ഓടിമാറി.

And he said, Cast it on the ground: and he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses fled from it.

4 പിന്നെ യഹോവ അവനോട്, “നീ കൈനീട്ടി അതിനെ വാലിൽ പിടിച്ച് എടുക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ മോശ കൈനീട്ടി പാമ്പിനെ പിടിച്ചു; അത് അവന്റെ കൈയിൽ വീണ്ടും വടിയായിത്തീർന്നു.

And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch forth your hand, and take hold of its tail: so he stretched forth his hand and took hold of the tail,

5 “ഇത്, അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ—അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും—നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിനുതന്നെ,” എന്നു ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

and it became a rod in his hand, —that they may believe you, that the God of your fathers has appeared to you, the God of Abraam, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.

6 ഇതിനുശേഷം യഹോവ, “നിന്റെ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെച്ചു; അവൻ അതു പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ അതു ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠം ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And the Lord said again to him, Put your hand into your bosom; and he put his hand into his bosom, and brought his hand out of his bosom, and his hand became as snow.

7 “നീ അതു വീണ്ടും മാറിടത്തിൽ വെക്കുക,” എന്ന് അവിടന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ വീണ്ടും തന്റെ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെച്ചു. അത് അവൻ പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ, തന്റെ മറ്റു ശരീരഭാഗങ്ങളെന്നപോലെ പൂർവസ്ഥിതിയിലായി.

And he said again, Put your hand into your bosom; and he put his hand into his bosom, and brought his hand out of his bosom, and it was again restored to the complexion of his [other] flesh.

8 തുടർന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, “അവർ നിന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ഒന്നാമത്തെ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നം ഗൗനിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ രണ്ടാമത്തേതിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചേക്കും.

And if they will not believe you, nor listen to the voice of the first sign, they will believe you [because] of the voice of the second sign.

9 എന്നാൽ ഈ രണ്ട് അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങളിലും അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ, നീ നൈൽനദിയിൽനിന്ന് വെള്ളം കോരി ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്ത് ഒഴിക്കണം. നീ നദിയിൽനിന്ന് എടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം നിലത്ത് രക്തമായിത്തീരും.”

And it shall come to pass if they will not believe you for these two signs, and will not listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river and pour it upon the dry land, and the water which you shall take from the river shall be blood upon the dry land.

10 മോശ യഹോവയോട്, “കർത്താവേ, അവിടത്തെ ദാസനോട് ക്ഷമിച്ചാലും; അടിയൻ മുമ്പുതന്നെയോ, അവിടന്ന് അടിയനോടു സംസാരിച്ചതിനുശേഷമോ ഒരിക്കലും വാക്ചാതുര്യമുള്ളവനായിരുന്നിട്ടില്ല. അടിയൻ വിക്കനും തടിച്ച നാവുള്ളവനും ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Moses said to the Lord, I pray, Lord, I have not been sufficient in former times, neither from the time that you have begun to speak to your servant: I am weak in speech, and slow-tongued.

11 യഹോവ അവനോട്, “മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായ് മെനഞ്ഞതാര്? അവനെ ബധിരനോ മൂകനോ ആക്കുന്നതാര്? അവനു കാഴ്ച നൽകുന്നതോ അവനെ അന്ധനാക്കുന്നതോ ആര്? യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ അല്ലയോ?

And the Lord said to Moses, Who has given a mouth to man, and who has made the very hard of hearing, and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? have not I, God?

12 ഇപ്പോൾ പോകുക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സംസാരിക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുകയും എന്തു പറയണമെന്നു നിനക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And now go and I will open your mouth, and will instruct you in what you shall say.

13 എന്നാൽ മോശ, “അയ്യോ, കർത്താവേ, ദയവുചെയ്തു മറ്റാരെയെങ്കിലും അയയ്ക്കണമേ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Moses said, I pray you, Lord, appoint another able [person] whom you shall send.

14 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം മോശയ്ക്കുനേരേ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവിടന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “ലേവ്യനായ അഹരോൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അല്ലയോ? അവനു നന്നായി സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിന്നെ വന്നു കാണാൻ അവൻ യാത്രതിരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞു; നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദിക്കും.

And the Lord was greatly angered against Moses, and said, Behold! is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he will surely speak to you; and, behold, he will come forth to meet you, and beholding you he will rejoice within himself.

15 പറയേണ്ടുന്ന വാക്കുകൾ നീ അവനു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുക. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടും അവന്റെ വായോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുകയും എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയും ചെയ്യും.

And you shall speak to him; and you shall put my words into his mouth, and I will open your mouth and his mouth, and I will instruct you in what you shall do.

16 അവൻ നിനക്കുപകരം ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും; അവൻ നിന്റെ വക്താവും നീ അവനു ദൈവവും എന്ന നിലയിലാകും.

And he shall speak for you to the people, and he shall be your mouth, and you shall be for him in things pertaining to God.

17 എന്നാൽ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ ഈ വടിയും നിന്റെ കൈയിൽ എടുത്തുകൊള്ളുക.”

And this rod that was turned into a serpent you shall take in your hand, wherewith you shall work miracles.

18 പിന്നെ മോശ തന്റെ അമ്മായിയപ്പനായ യിത്രോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ എന്റെ സ്വജനങ്ങളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലും ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പുണ്ടോ എന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പോകാൻ എന്നെ അനുവദിക്കണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനു യിത്രോ, “സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Moses went and returned to Jothor his father-in-law, and says, I will go and return to my brethren in Egypt, and will see if they are yet living. And Jothor said to Moses, Go in health. And in those days after some time, the king of Egypt died.

19 യഹോവ മോശയോടു മിദ്യാനിൽവെച്ച്, “ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നിന്നെ വധിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച പുരുഷന്മാരെല്ലാവരും മരിച്ചുപോയി” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

And the Lord said to Moses in Madiam, Go, depart into Egypt, for all that sought your life are dead.

20 അങ്ങനെ മോശ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും ഒരു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി, അവരെയും കൂട്ടി തിരികെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടിയും അദ്ദേഹം കൈയിൽ എടുത്തു.

And Moses took his wife and his children, and mounted them on the beasts, and returned to Egypt; and Moses took the rod [which he had] from God in his hand.

21 യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, “നീ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഭരമേൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള സകല അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്യണം. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കുമ്പോൾ ജനങ്ങളെ പോകാൻ അവൻ അനുവദിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

And the Lord said to Moses, When you go and return to Egypt, see—all the miracles I have charged you with, you shall work before Pharao: and I will harden his heart, and he shall certainly not send away the people.

22 അപ്പോൾ ഫറവോനോട്, ഇപ്രകാരം പറയണം, ‘യഹോവ ഇങ്ങനെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇസ്രായേൽ എന്റെ പുത്രൻ, എന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻതന്നെ.

And you shall say to Pharao, These things says the Lord, Israel [is] my firstborn.

23 “എന്നെ ആരാധിക്കാൻ എന്റെ പുത്രനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണം” എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ. എന്നാൽ നീ അവനെ പോകാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പുത്രനെ, നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനെത്തന്നെ, കൊന്നുകളയും’ എന്നുകൂടി പറയുക.”

And I said to you, Send away my people, that they may serve me: now if you will not send them away, see, I will kill your firstborn son.

24 വഴിമധ്യേയുള്ള ഒരു സത്രത്തിൽവെച്ച് യഹോവ മോശയെ നേരിട്ടു; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കൊല്ലുന്നതിനു ഭാവിച്ചു.

And it came to pass [that] the angel of the Lord met him by the way in the inn, and sought to kill him.

25 എന്നാൽ സിപ്പോറാ ഒരു കൽക്കത്തിയെടുത്തു തന്റെ പുത്രന്റെ അഗ്രചർമം ഛേദിച്ച് മോശയുടെ കാൽക്കൽ ഇട്ടു. “നിശ്ചയമായും താങ്കൾ എനിക്കൊരു രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

and Sepphora having taken a stone cut off the foreskin of her son, and fell at his feet and said, The blood of the circumcision of my son is staunched:

26 ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു. പരിച്ഛേദനത്തെ പരാമർശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് അപ്പോൾ അവൾ “രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞത്.

and he departed from him, because she said, The blood of the circumcision of my son is staunched.

27 യഹോവ അഹരോനോട്, “മോശയെ കാണുന്നതിന് നീ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പർവതത്തിൽവെച്ച് മോശയെ കണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses; and he went and met him in the mount of God, and they kissed each other.

28 യഹോവ തന്നെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചയച്ച എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും മോശ അഹരോനെ അറിയിച്ചു; താൻ ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് യഹോവ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചിരുന്ന എല്ലാ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അദ്ദേഹം സംസാരിച്ചു.

And Moses reported to Aaron all the words of the Lord, which he sent, and all the things which he charged him.

29 മോശയും അഹരോനും ഇസ്രായേല്യ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരെ എല്ലാവരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.

And Moses and Aaron went and gathered the elders of the children of Israel.

30 യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതെല്ലാം അഹരോൻ അവരെ പറഞ്ഞുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു; മോശ ജനങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പാകെ ആ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും

And Aaron spoke all these words, which God spoke to Moses, and wrought the miracles before the people.

31 ജനങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. യഹോവ തങ്ങളെ സന്ദർശിച്ചെന്നും അവിടന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടത കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നെന്നും ഇസ്രായേൽജനം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

and the people believed and rejoiced, because God visited the children of Israel, and because he saw their affliction: and the people bowed and worshipped.
