പുറപ്പാട് 22

1 “ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു കാളയെയോ ആടിനെയോ മോഷ്ടിച്ചു കശാപ്പു ചെയ്യുകയോ വിൽക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ അയാൾ ഒരു കാളയ്ക്കു പകരം അഞ്ചു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആടിനു പകരം നാല് ആടിനെയും കൊടുക്കണം.

If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

2 “ഒരു കള്ളൻ ഭവനഭേദനം നടത്തുമ്പോൾ അടികൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ സ്വയരക്ഷയ്ക്കായി അടിച്ചയാൾക്കു രക്തപാതകം ഇല്ല.

If a thief shall be found breaking through, and be smitten that he die, [there shall] no blood [be shed] for him.

3 എന്നാൽ സൂര്യോദയത്തിനുശേഷമാണ് അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നതെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ രക്തച്ചൊരിച്ചിൽനിമിത്തം കുറ്റക്കാരനായിരിക്കും. “മോഷ്ടാവ് തീർച്ചയായും നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നടത്തിയിരിക്കണം, എന്നാൽ ആ വ്യക്തിക്ക് അതിനു വകയില്ലെങ്കിൽ മോഷ്ടിച്ച കുറ്റത്തിന് അയാളെ വിൽക്കണം.

If the sun shall have risen upon him, [there shall be] blood [shed] for him: [for] he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

4 മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ട കാളയോ കഴുതയോ ആടോ ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കൈവശം ജീവനോടെ കാണപ്പെട്ടാൽ, അയാൾ അതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടി തിരിച്ചുകൊടുക്കണം.

If the theft shall be certainly found in his hand alive, whether an ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

5 “ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ മൃഗങ്ങളെ വയലിലോ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിലോ മേയിക്കുമ്പോൾ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയാൻ അനുവദിച്ചിട്ട് അവ മറ്റൊരാളുടെ വയലിൽ മേഞ്ഞാൽ അയാൾ സ്വന്തം വയലിലെയോ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിലെയോ നല്ലതിനെ പകരം കൊടുക്കണം.

If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field: of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make restitution.

6 “തീപിടിച്ചിട്ട് അതു മുൾപ്പടർപ്പുകളിലേക്കു വ്യാപിച്ച്, കറ്റകളോ കൊയ്തെടുക്കാനുള്ള വിളവോ വയലോ കത്തിപ്പോയാൽ തീ വെച്ചയാൾ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം ചെയ്യണം.

If fire shall break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field shall be consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

7 “ആരെങ്കിലും വെള്ളിയോ മറ്റു സാധനങ്ങളോ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കാൻ ഒരു അയൽവാസിയെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് അയാളുടെ വീട്ടിൽനിന്ന് അവ മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയും മോഷ്ടാവിനെ പിടികിട്ടുകയും ചെയ്താൽ മോഷ്ടാവ് അവയുടെ ഇരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കണം.

If a man shall deliver to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief shall be found, let him pay double.

8 എന്നാൽ കള്ളനെ പിടികിട്ടിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ വീട്ടുടമ മറ്റേയാളുടെ സ്വത്ത് അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നിശ്ചയം വരുത്താൻ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരണം.

If the thief shall not be found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges, [to see] whether he hath put his hand to his neighbor's goods.

9 കാണാതെപോയ കാള, കഴുത, ആട്, വസ്ത്രം എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള എന്തിന്റെയെങ്കിലും കാര്യത്തിൽ ‘അതു തന്റേത്’ എന്ന് ആരെങ്കിലും അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നപക്ഷം, ഇരുകക്ഷികളും തങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരണം; കുറ്റക്കാരെന്നു ദൈവം വിധിക്കുന്നവർ തന്റെ അയൽവാസിക്ക് ഇരട്ടി പകരം കൊടുക്കണം.

For all manner of trespass, [whether it be] for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, [or] for any manner of lost thing which [another] challengeth to be his: the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; [and] he whom the judges shall condemn, shall pay double to his neighbor.

10 “ആരെങ്കിലും അയൽക്കാരെ സൂക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഏൽപ്പിച്ച കഴുതയോ കാളയോ ആടോ മറ്റ് ഏതെങ്കിലും മൃഗമോ ചാകുകയോ മുറിവേൽക്കുകയോ മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയോ ചെയ്യുകയും സാക്ഷി ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ

If a man shall deliver to his neighbor an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast to keep; and it shall die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing [it]:

11 അവർതമ്മിലുള്ള തർക്കം യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ തീർക്കണം; അയൽക്കാരുടെ വസ്തുവിന്മേൽ താൻ കൈവെച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ അയൽവാസി ശപഥംചെയ്യുകയുംവേണം. ഉടമ ഈ വസ്തുത അംഗീകരിക്കണം, പകരമായി ഒന്നുംതന്നെ നൽകേണ്ടതില്ല.

[Then] shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand to his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept of it, and he shall not make restitution.

12 എന്നാൽ അതു തന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ ഉടമസ്ഥനു നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം കൊടുക്കണം.

And if it shall be stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner of it.

13 മൃഗത്തെ ഒരു വന്യജന്തു കടിച്ചുകീറിയെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ മൃഗത്തിന്റെ അവശിഷ്ടം അതിനു തെളിവായി കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതാണ്; കടിച്ചുകീറിയതിനു പകരമായി അയാൾ ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.

If it shall be torn in pieces; [then] let him bring it [for] witness, [and] he shall not make good that which was torn.

14 “ആരെങ്കിലും അയൽക്കാരുടെ പക്കൽനിന്ന് ഒരു മൃഗത്തെ കടം വാങ്ങിയിട്ട് ഉടമയുടെ അസാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ അതിനു മുറിവേൽക്കുകയോ അതു ചത്തുപോകുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ ആ മനുഷ്യൻ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം കൊടുക്കണം.

And if a man shall borrow [aught] of his neighbor, and it shall be hurt, or die, the owner of it [being] not with it, he shall surely make [it] good.

15 ഉടമ മൃഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ കടംവാങ്ങിയയാൾ ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതില്ല. മൃഗത്തെ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയതാണെങ്കിൽ, നഷ്ടം നികത്താൻ കൂലിയായി കൊടുത്ത പണം മതിയാകും.

[But] if the owner of it shall [be] with it, he shall not make [it] good: if it [be] a hired [thing], it came for his hire.

16 “വിവാഹനിശ്ചയം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കന്യകയെ വശീകരിച്ച് അവളോടൊപ്പം ശാരീരികബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുന്നവൻ കന്യാധനം നൽകി അവളെ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിക്കണം.

And if a man shall entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

17 അവളുടെ പിതാവ് അവളെ അവനു കൊടുക്കാൻ തീർത്തും വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും, അവൻ കന്യകമാർക്കുള്ള സ്ത്രീധനം കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.

If her father shall utterly refuse to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dower of virgins.

18 “ആഭിചാരകരെ ജീവിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കരുത്.

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 “മൃഗത്തോടൊപ്പം ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടുന്നവർ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കണം.

Whoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 “യഹോവയ്ക്കല്ലാതെ മറ്റ് ഏതെങ്കിലും ദേവനു യാഗം കഴിക്കുന്നവരെ നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കണം.

He that sacrificeth to [any] god, save to the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

21 “വിദേശിയോടു മോശമായി പെരുമാറുകയോ അവരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയോ അരുത്; ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിങ്ങളും പ്രവാസികൾ ആയിരുന്നല്ലോ.

Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 “വിധവയെയോ അനാഥരെയോ പീഡിപ്പിക്കരുത്.

Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

23 നീ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് അവർ എന്നോടു നിലവിളിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ നിശ്ചയമായും അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കും;

If thou shalt afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry:

24 എന്റെ ക്രോധം ജ്വലിച്ചിട്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വാളാൽ കൊന്നുകളയും; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ വിധവകളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ അനാഥരും ആയിത്തീരും.

And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 “നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള എന്റെ ജനത്തിൽ ദരിദ്രനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനു പണം വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ പണവ്യാപാരിയെപ്പോലെ പെരുമാറരുത്; ആ വ്യക്തിയിൽനിന്ന് പലിശ ഈടാക്കരുത്.

If thou shalt lend money to [any of] my people [that is] poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

26 അയൽവാസിയുടെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം പണയമായി വാങ്ങിയാൽ, സന്ധ്യയാകുമ്പോൾ അത് അയാൾക്കു തിരിച്ചുകൊടുക്കണം.

If thou shalt at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it to him by the setting of the sun.

27 ആ പുറങ്കുപ്പായംമാത്രമാണ് ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശരീരത്തിനുള്ള ഏക ആവരണം. അയാൾക്കു പുതച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഉറങ്ങാൻ മറ്റെന്താണുള്ളത്? ആ അയൽവാസി എന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കേൾക്കും; ഞാൻ അനുകമ്പയുള്ളവനല്ലോ.

For that [is] his only covering, it [is] his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth to me, that I will hear; for I [am] gracious.

28 “ദൈവത്തെ ദുഷിക്കുകയോ നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഭരണകർത്താവിനെ ശപിക്കുകയോ അരുത്.

Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

29 “നിന്റെ ധാന്യശേഖരത്തിൽനിന്നും വീഞ്ഞുശേഖരത്തിൽനിന്നും ഉള്ള വഴിപാടുകൾ അർപ്പിക്കാൻ വൈകരുത്. “നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ആദ്യജാതനെ എനിക്കു നൽകണം.

Thou shalt not delay [to offer] the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the first-born of thy sons shalt thou give to me.

30 നിന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെയും ആടുകളുടെയും കാര്യത്തിലും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ചെയ്യണം. അതു തള്ളയോടുകൂടെ ഏഴുദിവസം നിന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ, എന്നാൽ എട്ടാംദിവസം അതിനെ എനിക്കു തരണം.

Likewise shalt thou do with thy oxen, [and] with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it to me.

31 “നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധജനമായിരിക്കേണ്ടവരാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് വന്യമൃഗങ്ങൾ കടിച്ചുകീറിയ മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്; അതു നായ്ക്കൾക്ക് ഇട്ടുകൊടുക്കണം.

And ye shall be holy men to me: neither shall ye eat [any] flesh [that is] torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
