പുറപ്പാട് 20
1 ദൈവം ഈ വചനങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു:
Then God spake all these wordes, saying,
2 “അടിമനാടായ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങളെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു.
I am the Lord thy God, which haue brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “ഞാൻ അല്ലാതെ അന്യദേവന്മാർ നിങ്ങൾക്കുണ്ടാകരുത്.
Thou shalt haue none other Gods before me.
4 നിങ്ങൾക്കായി ഒരു വിഗ്രഹവും ഉണ്ടാക്കരുത്; മീതേ ആകാശത്തിലോ താഴേ ഭൂമിയിലോ കീഴേ വെള്ളത്തിലോ ഉള്ള യാതൊന്നിന്റെയും പ്രതിമയും അരുത്.
Thou shalt make thee no grauen image, neither any similitude of things that are in heauen aboue, neither that are in the earth beneath, nor that are in the waters vnder the earth.
5 അവയെ വണങ്ങുകയോ ആരാധിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. കാരണം, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ളവനാകുന്നു. എന്നെ വെറുക്കുന്ന മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ പാപത്തിന് അവരുടെ മക്കളെ മൂന്നും നാലും തലമുറവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും.
Thou shalt not bowe downe to them, neither serue them: for I am the Lord thy God, a ielous God, visiting the iniquitie of the fathers vpon the children, vpon the third generation and vpon the fourth of them that hate me:
6 എന്നാൽ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ച് എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവരോട് ആയിരം തലമുറവരെ ഞാൻ കരുണകാണിക്കും.
And shewing mercie vnto thousandes to them that loue me, and keepe my commandemets.
7 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വൃഥാ ഉപയോഗിക്കരുത്. അവിടത്തെ നാമം വ്യർഥമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നവരെ യഹോവ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയില്ല.
Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vaine: for the Lord will not hold him guiltles that taketh his Name in vayne.
8 ശബ്ബത്തുദിവസത്തെ വിശുദ്ധിയോടെ ആചരിക്കാൻ ഓർക്കുക.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keepe it holy.
9 ആറുദിവസം അധ്വാനിച്ച് നിങ്ങളുടെ ജോലികളെല്ലാം ചെയ്യുക;
Sixe dayes shalt thou labour, and doe all thy worke,
10 എന്നാൽ ഏഴാംദിവസം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ശബ്ബത്ത് ആകുന്നു. അന്ന് നിങ്ങളോ നിങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രനോ പുത്രിയോ ദാസനോ ദാസിയോ മൃഗങ്ങളോ നിങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാസിയോ ജോലിയൊന്നും ചെയ്യാൻ പാടില്ല;
But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any worke, thou, nor thy sonne, nor thy daughter, thy man seruant, nor thy mayde, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
11 എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാൽ, ആറുദിവസംകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും സമുദ്രവും അവയിലുള്ള സകലതും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ട് ഏഴാംദിവസം വിശ്രമിച്ചു. ആകയാൽ യഹോവ ശബ്ബത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച് അതിനെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു.
For in sixe dayes the Lord made the heauen and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seuenth day: therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ദീർഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിനു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിനെയും മാതാവിനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കണം.
Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy dayes may be prolonged vpon the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee.
13 കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യരുത്.
Thou shalt not kill.
14 വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുത്.
Thou shalt not commit adulterie.
15 മോഷ്ടിക്കരുത്.
Thou shalt not steale.
16 അയൽവാസിക്കു വിരോധമായി കള്ളസാക്ഷി പറയരുത്.
Thou shalt not beare false witnes against thy neighbour.
17 അയൽവാസിയുടെ ഭവനത്തെ മോഹിക്കരുത്. അയൽവാസിയുടെ ഭാര്യ, പരിചാരകൻ, പരിചാരിക, കാള, കഴുത ഇങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിക്കുള്ള യാതൊന്നും മോഹിക്കരുത്.”
Thou shalt not couet thy neighbours house, neither shalt thou couet thy neighbours wife, nor his man seruant, nor his mayde, nor his oxe, nor his asse, neyther any thing that is thy neighbours.
18 ഇടിയും മിന്നലും കാണുകയും കാഹളം കേൾക്കുകയും പർവതം പുകയുന്നതു കാണുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ ജനമെല്ലാം ഭയന്നുവിറച്ചു; അവർ ദൂരെ മാറിനിന്നു.
And all the people sawe the thunders, and the lightnings, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountaine smoking and when the people saw it they fled and stoode afare off,
19 അവർ മോശയോട്, “അങ്ങുതന്നെ ഞങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുക, ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടുകൊള്ളാം; ഞങ്ങൾ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ദൈവം ഞങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കരുതേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And sayde vnto Moses, Talke thou with vs, and we will heare: but let not God talke with vs, lest we die.
20 മോശ ജനത്തോട്, “ഭയപ്പെടരുത്: നിങ്ങളിൽ ദൈവഭയം ഉളവാകുന്നതുമൂലം പാപത്തിൽനിന്ന് അകന്നു ജീവിക്കുന്നതിനും ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുമാണ് ദൈവം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Moses sayde vnto the people, Feare not: for God is come to proue you, and that his feare may be before you, that ye sinne not.
21 ജനം അകലെ നിന്നു, മോശയോ ദൈവം സന്നിഹിതനായ കനത്ത ഇരുട്ടിനെ സമീപിച്ചു.
So the people stoode afarre off, but Moses drew neere vnto the darkenes where God was.
22 ഇതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, “നീ ഇസ്രായേല്യരോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുക: ‘ഞാൻ സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾതന്നെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു!
And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Thus thou shalt say vnto the children of Israel, Ye haue seene that I haue talked with you from heauen.
23 ഞാൻ ഒഴികെ മറ്റൊരുദൈവവും നിങ്ങൾക്കുണ്ടായിരിക്കരുത്. വെള്ളികൊണ്ടോ സ്വർണംകൊണ്ടോ നിങ്ങൾക്കായി ദേവതകളെ നിർമിക്കരുത്.
Ye shall not make therefore with me gods of siluer, nor gods of golde: you shall make you none.
24 “‘മണ്ണുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കായി നിർമിക്കണം; അതിന്മേൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗവസ്തുക്കൾ, സമാധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ, ചെമ്മരിയാടുകൾ, കോലാടുകൾ, കന്നുകാലികൾ എന്നിവ അർപ്പിക്കുക. എന്റെ നാമം ആദരിക്കപ്പെടാൻ ഞാൻ ഇടയാക്കുന്നിടത്തെല്ലാം വന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും.
An altar of earth thou shalt make vnto me, and thereon shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheepe, and thine oxen: in all places, where I shall put the remembrance of my Name, I will come vnto thee, and blesse thee.
25 നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കായി കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു യാഗപീഠം പണിയുന്നെങ്കിൽ അതു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ആകരുത്; അതിന്മേൽ പണിയായുധം പ്രയോഗിച്ചാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അതിനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കും.
But if thou wilt make mee an altar of stone, thou shalt not buylde it of hewen stones: for if thou lift vp thy toole vpon them, thou hast polluted them.
26 എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ നഗ്നത അനാവരണം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ചവിട്ടുപടികളിലൂടെ അതിന്മേൽ കയറരുത്.’
Neither shalt thou goe vp by steppes vnto mine altar, that thy filthines be not discouered thereon.
