എസ്ഥേർ 8

1 അന്നുതന്നെ അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവ് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ശത്രുവായ ഹാമാന്റെ വസ്തുവകകൾ എസ്ഥേർ രാജ്ഞിക്കു നൽകി. മൊർദെഖായിയുമായി തനിക്കുള്ള ബന്ധം എസ്ഥേർരാജ്ഞി രാജാവിനെ അറിയിച്ചതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രവേശനം ലഭിച്ചു.

And in that day king Artaxerxes gave to Esther all that belonged to Aman the slanderer: and Mardochæus was called by the king; for Esther had shewn that he was related to her.

2 രാജാവ് ഹാമാനിൽനിന്ന് തിരികെ വാങ്ങിയ മുദ്രമോതിരം മൊർദെഖായിക്കു സമ്മാനിച്ചു. എസ്ഥേർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഹാമാന്റെ വസ്തുവകകൾക്കെല്ലാം അധികാരിയാക്കി.

And the king took the ring which he had taken away from Aman, and gave it to Mardochæus: and Esther appointed Mardochæus over all that had been Aman’s.

3 എസ്ഥേർ വീണ്ടും രാജാവിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽവീണ് കരഞ്ഞു യാചിച്ചു. ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹാമാൻ യെഹൂദർക്കെതിരേ ആസൂത്രണംചെയ്ത തന്ത്രം അവസാനിപ്പിക്കണമെന്ന് അവൾ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

And she spoke yet again to the king, and fell at his feet, and besought [him] to do away the mischief of Aman, and all that he had done against the Jews.

4 രാജാവ് തന്റെ തങ്കച്ചെങ്കോൽ എസ്ഥേരിനുനേരേ നീട്ടി; അവൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു.

Then the king stretched out to Esther the golden sceptre: and Esther arose to stand near the king.

5 എസ്ഥേർ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “രാജാവിനു തിരുവുള്ളമുണ്ടായി, ഇക്കാര്യം ശരിയെന്നു ബോധ്യപ്പെടുകയും എന്നോടു പ്രിയംതോന്നുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ, രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രവിശ്യകളിലുള്ള സകല യെഹൂദരെയും സംഹരിക്കാൻ ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകൻ ഹാമാൻ എഴുതിയ നിയമത്തിനു വിരോധമായി രാജാവ് ഒരു കൽപ്പന പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചാലും.

And Esther said, If it seem good to thee, and I have found favour [in thy sight], let an order be sent that the letters sent by Aman may be reversed, that were written for the destruction of the Jews, who are in thy kingdom.

6 ഒരു ദുരന്തം എന്റെ ജനത്തെ മൂടുന്നത് ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടു സഹിക്കും? എന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ നാശം ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടു സഹിക്കും?”

For how shall I be able to look upon the affliction of my people, and how shall I be able to survive the destruction of my kindred?

7 അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവ് എസ്ഥേർരാജ്ഞിയോടും മൊർദെഖായി എന്ന യെഹൂദനോടും പറഞ്ഞു, “ഹാമാൻ യെഹൂദരെ ആക്രമിച്ചതിനാൽ അവന്റെ വീട് ഞാൻ എസ്ഥേരിനു നൽകി. അവനെ അവൻതന്നെ ഒരുക്കിയ തൂക്കുമരത്തിലേറ്റുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And the king said to Esther, If I have given and freely granted thee all that was Aman’s, and hanged him on a gallows, because he laid his hands upon the Jews, what dost thou yet further seek?

8 ഇനി രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ യെഹൂദർക്ക് അനുകൂലമായി നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉത്തമമെന്നു തോന്നുന്ന മറ്റൊരു കൽപ്പന എഴുതിക്കൊള്ളുക. അതിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ മുദ്രമോതിരത്താൽ മുദ്രയിടുക. രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ എഴുതി രാജാവിന്റെ മുദ്രമോതിരത്താൽ മുദ്രയിടപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കൽപ്പനയും റദ്ദാക്കാവുന്നതല്ല.”

Write ye also in my name, as it seems good to you, and seal [it] with my ring: for whatever [orders] are written at the command of the king, and sealed with my ring, it is not lawful to gainsay them.

9 മൂന്നാംമാസമായ സീവാൻ മാസം ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നാംതീയതി രാജാവിന്റെ ലേഖകരെ എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി. ഇന്ത്യമുതൽ കൂശ് വരെ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന 127 പ്രവിശ്യകളിലെ സകല യെഹൂദർക്കും രാജപ്രതിനിധികൾക്കും ദേശാധിപതികൾക്കും ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കുംവേണ്ടി മൊർദെഖായി നിർദേശിച്ചതൊക്കെയും അവർ എഴുതി. കൽപ്പനകൾ എല്ലാം ഓരോ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ലിപിയിലും ഓരോ ജനതയുടെ ഭാഷയിലും യെഹൂദർക്ക് അവരുടേതായ ലിപിയിലും ആണ് എഴുതിയത്.

So the scribes were called in the first month, which is Nisan, on the three and twentieth day of the same year; and [orders] were written to the Jews, whatever [the king had] commanded to the local governors and chiefs of the satraps, from India even to Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty-seven satraps, according to the several provinces, according to their dialects.

10 അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ എഴുതിയതും മുദ്രമോതിരത്താൽ മുദ്ര ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടതുമായ കൽപ്പനകളുമായി രാജാവിനുവേണ്ടി വളർത്തിയിരുന്ന വേഗമുള്ള കുതിരകളുടെ പുറത്ത് സന്ദേശവാഹകരെ അയച്ചു.

And they were written by order of the king, and sealed with his ring, and they sent the letters by the posts:

11 ഈ കൽപ്പനയാൽ, എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള യെഹൂദർക്ക് സ്വയസംരക്ഷണയ്ക്കായി ഒത്തുകൂടുന്നതിനും അവരെയും അവരുടെ സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ആക്രമിക്കാൻ ഏതു ജനവിഭാഗങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും പ്രവിശ്യയിൽനിന്നും വരുന്ന എല്ലാ സൈന്യത്തെയും കൊന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ച് ഉന്മൂലനംചെയ്യാനും ശത്രുക്കളെ കൊള്ളയടിക്കാനുമുള്ള അനുമതി ലഭിച്ചു.

wherein he charged them to use their [own] laws in every city, and to help each other, and to treat their adversaries, and those who attacked them, as they pleased,

12 അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിന്റെ എല്ലാ പ്രവിശ്യകളിലും പന്ത്രണ്ടാംമാസമായ ആദാർമാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാംതീയതിയായിരുന്നു യെഹൂദർക്ക് ഇതു ചെയ്യാൻ അനുവാദം.

on one day in all the kingdom of Artaxerxes, on the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which is Adar.

13 ആ ദിവസം യെഹൂദർ തങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ നേരിടാൻ തയ്യാറായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനു കൽപ്പനയുടെ ഒരു പകർപ്പ് ഒരു നിയമമായിത്തന്നെ എല്ലാ പ്രവിശ്യകളിലും എല്ലാ ജനവിഭാഗങ്ങൾക്കിടയിലും പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി.

And let the copies be posted in conspicuous places throughout the kingdom, and let all the Jews be ready against this day, to fight against their enemies.

14 അങ്ങനെ, സന്ദേശവാഹകർ രാജകൽപ്പനയാൽ നിർബന്ധിതരായി രാജാവിന്റെ കുതിരകളുടെ പുറത്ത് കയറി അതിവേഗം പുറപ്പെട്ടു. കൽപ്പന ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിലും പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി.

So the horsemen went forth with haste to perform the king’s commands; and the ordinance was also published in Susa.

15 മൊർദെഖായി നീലയും വെള്ളയും നിറങ്ങൾ ഉള്ള രാജവസ്ത്രവും വലിയ സ്വർണക്കിരീടവും മൃദുലചണനൂൽകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഊതവർണ നിലയങ്കിയും ധരിച്ച് രാജസന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു. ശൂശൻ പട്ടണം ആനന്ദത്താൽ ആഘോഷിച്ചാർത്തു.

And Mardochæus went forth robed in the royal apparel, and wearing a golden crown, and a diadem of fine purple linen: and the people in Susa saw [it] and rejoiced.

16 യെഹൂദർക്ക് അത് സന്തോഷത്തിന്റെയും ആഹ്ലാദത്തിന്റെയും ആനന്ദത്തിന്റെയും അഭിമാനത്തിന്റെയും സമയമായിരുന്നു.

And the Jews had light and gladness,

17 എല്ലാ പ്രവിശ്യയിലും എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും രാജകൽപ്പന ലഭിച്ച എല്ലായിടത്തും യെഹൂദർക്കിടയിൽ സന്തോഷവും ആനന്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി. അവിടെ വിരുന്നും ആഘോഷവും ഉണ്ടായി. യെഹൂദരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഭയംനിമിത്തം ഇതര ജനവിഭാഗങ്ങളിലുള്ള അനേകരും യെഹൂദരായിത്തീർന്നു.

in every city and province wherever the ordinance was published: wherever the proclamation took place, the Jews had joy and gladness, feasting and mirth: and many of the Gentiles were circumcised, and became Jews, for fear of the Jews.
