എസ്ഥേർ 6
1 അന്നുരാത്രി രാജാവിന് ഉറങ്ങാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല, അതുകൊണ്ടു തനിക്കു വായിച്ചുകേൾക്കേണ്ടതിനു തന്റെ വാഴ്ചക്കാലത്തെ സംഭവങ്ങൾ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ ദിനവൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകം കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ കൽപ്പനകൊടുത്തു.
On that night sleep fled from the king. And he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
2 അതിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടു സേവകരും വാതിൽകാവൽക്കാരുമായ ബിഗ്ദ്ധാനയും തേരേശും അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിനെ വധിക്കാൻ ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തിയതും മൊർദെഖായി അതു വെളിവാക്കിയതും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, keepers of the threshold, who had sought to lay hand on king Ahasuerus.
3 അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു: “ഇതിന് എന്തു ബഹുമതിയും അംഗീകാരവുമാണ് നാം മൊർദെഖായിക്ക് നൽകിയത്?” “ഒന്നും നൽകിയിട്ടില്ല,” എന്നു ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And the king said, What honour and dignity has been done to Mordecai for this? And the king's servants that attended upon him said, Nothing has been done for him.
4 “പുറത്തെ അങ്കണത്തിൽ ആരുണ്ട്?” രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ മൊർദെഖായിക്കായി ഒരുക്കിയ തൂക്കുമരത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തൂക്കണമെന്ന് അപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഹാമാൻ അങ്കണത്തിനു പുറത്ത് നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman had come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
5 “ഹാമാൻ അങ്കണത്തിൽ നിൽക്കുന്നു,” രാജഭൃത്യന്മാർ അറിയിച്ചു. “അവനെ അകത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരിക,” രാജാവ് കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
And the king's servants said to him, Behold, Haman is standing in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6 ഹാമാൻ അകത്തു പ്രവേശിച്ചപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് അവനോട്, “രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് എന്താണ് ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “എന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരെയാണ് രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്?” എന്ന് ഹാമാൻ ഉള്ളിൽ കരുതി.
So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What is to be done with the man whom the king delights to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to me?
7 അതിനാൽ അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു: “രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനുവേണ്ടി,
And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honour,
8 രാജാവ് ധരിക്കുന്ന രാജവസ്ത്രവും രാജാവ് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന കുതിരയും രാജശിരസ്സിൽ വെക്കുന്ന കിരീടവും കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ.
let the royal apparel be brought with which the king arrays himself, and the horse that the king rides upon, and on the head of which the royal crown is set;
9 വസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും രാജാവിന്റെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാരായ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരിൽ ഒരുവനെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കണം. രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ച് കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി, ‘രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനോട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു!’ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് പട്ടണവീഥികളിലൂടെ ആനയിക്കണം.”
and let the apparel and horse be delivered into the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, and let them array the man whom the king delights to honour, and cause him to ride on the horse through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour!
10 രാജാവ് ഹാമാനോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു: “വേഗം നീ പോയി, പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ രാജവസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് രാജകവാടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന മൊർദെഖായി എന്ന യെഹൂദന് ഇതെല്ലാം ചെയ്യുക. നീ പറഞ്ഞതിൽ ഒരു കുറവും വരുത്തരുത്.”
And the king said to Haman, Make haste, take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast said.
11 അങ്ങനെ ഹാമാൻ രാജവസ്ത്രവും കുതിരയും കൊണ്ടുവന്ന്, മൊർദെഖായിയെ വസ്ത്രം അണിയിച്ച് കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി പട്ടണവീഥികളിലൂടെ ആനയിച്ച് ഇങ്ങനെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “രാജാവ് ആദരിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനോട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു!”
And Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and caused him to ride through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour!
12 പിന്നീട് മൊർദെഖായി രാജകവാടത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി. ഹാമാനാകട്ടെ വിലപിച്ച്, തലമൂടി വീട്ടിലേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോയി.
And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house, mourning and having his head covered.
13 തനിക്കു സംഭവിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ഭാര്യയായ സേരെശിനെയും സകലസ്നേഹിതരെയും അറിയിച്ചു. അവന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കളും ഭാര്യയായ സേരെശും അവനോട്: “മൊർദെഖായിയുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്റെ പതനം ആരംഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം യെഹൂദാവംശത്തിൽപ്പെട്ടവനാകുകയാൽ നിനക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെതിരേ നിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ നീ വീണുപോകും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and to all his friends all that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife to him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but wilt certainly fall before him.
14 അവർ അവനോട് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡന്മാർ വന്ന് എസ്ഥേർ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന വിരുന്നിനു സംബന്ധിക്കാൻ ഹാമാനെ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.
While they were yet talking with him, the king's chamberlains came, and hasted to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
