എസ്ഥേർ 1
1 ഇന്ത്യമുതൽ കൂശ് വരെയുള്ള നൂറ്റിയിരുപത്തിയേഴു പ്രവിശ്യകളും ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ കാലത്ത് ഇപ്രകാരം സംഭവിച്ചു:

2 ആ കാലത്ത് ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിലെ സിംഹാസനത്തിലിരുന്നു ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന അഹശ്വേരോശ്

7 വിവിധ ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള സ്വർണച്ചഷകങ്ങളിലാണ് വീഞ്ഞു വിളമ്പിയത്. രാജകീയ വീഞ്ഞ് ധാരാളമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അത് രാജാവിന്റെ ഔദാര്യമനുസരിച്ച് വിളമ്പി.

9 അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിന്റെ കൊട്ടാരത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞിയും ഒരു വിരുന്നു നൽകി.

10 ഏഴാംദിവസം അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവ് വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ച് മത്തുപിടിച്ചപ്പോൾ, തന്നെ സേവിച്ച ഏഴു ഷണ്ഡന്മാരായ മെഹൂമാൻ, ബിസ്ഥാ, ഹർബോനാ, ബിഗ്ദ്ധാ, അബഗ്ദ്ധാ, സേഥർ, കർക്കസ് എന്നിവരെ വിളിച്ച്,
in/on/with day [the] seventh like/as be pleasing heart [the] king in/on/with wine to say to/for Mehuman Biztha Harbona Bigtha and Abagtha Zethar and Carkas seven [the] eunuch [the] to minister with face: before [the] king Ahasuerus
11 “വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞിയെ കിരീടം ധരിപ്പിച്ച്, ജനങ്ങളും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവരെ കാണേണ്ടതിന് ഇവിടേക്ക് ആനയിക്കുക” എന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു. അവർ കാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് അതിസുന്ദരിയായിരുന്നു.

12 എന്നാൽ ഷണ്ഡന്മാർ അറിയിച്ച കൽപ്പനപ്രകാരം വരുന്നതിന് വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞി വിസമ്മതിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് രോഷാകുലനായി, കോപംകൊണ്ടു വിറച്ചു.

13 നീതിന്യായകാര്യങ്ങൾ രാജാവ് വിദഗ്ദ്ധരുമായി കൂടിയാലോചിക്കുക പതിവായിരുന്നു, അതുകൊണ്ട് കാലഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ച് നിശ്ചയമുള്ള ജ്ഞാനികളും

14 രാജാവിനോട് ഏറ്റവും അടുപ്പമുള്ളവരും ആ രാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രധാന സ്ഥാനം വഹിക്കുന്നവരും രാജസന്നിധിയിലേക്കു പ്രത്യേക പ്രവേശനാനുമതിയുള്ളവരും പാർസ്യയിലും മേദ്യയിലും ഉള്ള ഏഴു പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുമായ കെർശനാ, ശേഥാർ, അദ്മാഥാ, തർശീശ്, മേരെസ്, മർസെനാ, മെമൂഖാൻ എന്നിവരോട് രാജാവ് സംസാരിച്ചു.

15 “നിയമാനുസരണം വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞിയോട് എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു; “ഷണ്ഡന്മാർ മുഖേന അറിയിച്ച അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ കൽപ്പന അവർ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല.”

16 അപ്പോൾ മെമൂഖാൻ രാജാവിന്റെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും സന്നിധിയിൽ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു: “വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞി രാജാവിനോടുമാത്രമല്ല, അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രവിശ്യകളിലുള്ള സകലജനങ്ങളോടും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും തെറ്റുചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

17 രാജ്ഞിയുടെ ഈ പ്രവൃത്തി സകലസ്ത്രീകളും അറിയും. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരെ നിന്ദിച്ച്, ‘അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവ് വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞിയെ മുമ്പിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ അവർ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല’ എന്നു പറയും.

18 ഈ ദിവസംതന്നെ രാജ്ഞിയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി കേട്ടറിയുന്ന പാർസ്യയിലെയും മേദ്യയിലെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ പത്നികളും രാജാവിന്റെ എല്ലാ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും ഇങ്ങനെതന്നെ ചെയ്യും. അനാദരവിനും അപസ്വരത്തിനും അന്തമില്ലാതാകും.

19 “അതിനാൽ രാജാവിനു ഹിതമെങ്കിൽ, വസ്ഥിരാജ്ഞി ഇനിമേലിൽ അഹശ്വേരോശ് രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കരുതെന്ന് ഒരു രാജകൽപ്പന പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കട്ടെ, അത് പാർസ്യയിലെയും മേദ്യയിലെയും നിയമങ്ങളിൽ മാറ്റപ്പെടാത്തവിധം എഴുതിച്ചേർക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ. കൂടാതെ രാജാവ് അവളുടെ രാജ്ഞിസ്ഥാനം അവളെക്കാൾ ഉത്തമയായ മറ്റാർക്കെങ്കിലും നൽകട്ടെ.

20 അങ്ങനെ രാജശാസന അതിവിശാലമായ രാജ്യമെമ്പാടും വിളംബരം ചെയ്തുകഴിയുമ്പോൾ ചെറിയവൾമുതൽ വലിയവൾവരെ എല്ലാ സ്ത്രീകളും തങ്ങളുടെ ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരെ ബഹുമാനിക്കും.”
and to hear: proclaim edict [the] king which to make in/on/with all royalty his for many he/she/it and all [the] woman to give: give preciousness to/for master: husband their to/for from great: large and till small
21 രാജാവിനും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കും ഈ ഉപദേശം ബോധിച്ചു. രാജാവ് മെമൂഖാൻ നിർദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു.
and be good [the] word in/on/with eye: appearance [the] king and [the] ruler and to make: do [the] king like/as word Memucan
22 ഓരോ പുരുഷനും സ്വന്തം ഭാഷ സംസാരിച്ച്, തന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ നാഥനായിരിക്കണമെന്നു തന്റെ രാജ്യമെമ്പാടും, ഓരോ പ്രവിശ്യയിലും അതതു ദേശത്തെ ലിപിയിലും ഓരോ മനുഷ്യർക്കും അവരവരുടെ ഭാഷയിലും രാജാവ് കൽപ്പന കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.
and to send: depart scroll: document to(wards) all province [the] king to(wards) province and province like/as writing her and to(wards) people and people like/as tongue: language his to/for to be all man to rule in/on/with house: household his and to speak: speak like/as tongue: language people his
