എഫെസ്യർ 5

1 നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രിയമക്കൾ ആയിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവത്തെ എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളിലും അനുകരിക്കുക:

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 സ്നേഹം നിറഞ്ഞവരായി ജീവിക്കുക. ക്രിസ്തു നമ്മോടുള്ള സ്നേഹംനിമിത്തം നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി സൗരഭ്യമായ അർപ്പണവും യാഗവുമായി സ്വയം ദൈവത്തിനു സമർപ്പിച്ചതാണ് നമ്മുടെ മാതൃക.

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3 നിങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യേ ലൈംഗിക അധാർമികത, ഒരുതരത്തിലുമുള്ള അശുദ്ധി, ദുരാഗ്രഹം ഇവയുടെ പേരുപോലും കേൾക്കാൻ ഇടയാകരുത്; കാരണം ഇവ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധജനത്തിന് ഭൂഷണമല്ല.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4 അശ്ലീലം, നിരർഥക സംഭാഷണം, അശ്ലീലഫലിതം ഇങ്ങനെ അയോഗ്യമായവയൊന്നും പാടുള്ളതല്ല; പകരം സ്തോത്രശബ്ദമാണ് ഉയരേണ്ടത്.

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 ദുർവൃത്തർ, അശുദ്ധർ, ദുരാഗ്രഹികൾ—ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർ വിഗ്രഹാരാധകർ—ഇവർക്ക് ആർക്കും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെയും രാജ്യത്തിൽ യാതൊരു ഓഹരിയുമില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 അർഥശൂന്യമായ വാക്കുകളാൽ ആരും നിങ്ങളെ വഞ്ചിക്കരുത്. ഇവയാലാണ് അനുസരണമില്ലാത്തവർ ദൈവക്രോധത്തിനു പാത്രമായിത്തീരുന്നത്.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7 അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ സഹകാരികളാകരുത്.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8 മുമ്പ് നിങ്ങൾ അന്ധകാരമായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോഴോ കർത്താവിൽ പ്രകാശമാകുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ മക്കളായി ജീവിക്കുക.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ പരിണതഫലം സർവനന്മയും നീതിയും സത്യവുമാണ്.

( For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; )

10 അതുകൊണ്ട് കർത്താവിനു പ്രസാദകരമായത് എന്തെന്ന് അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക.

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 അന്ധകാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ഫലശൂന്യമാണ്, അവയോട് യാതൊരു സഹകരണവും പാടില്ലെന്നുമാത്രമല്ല, അവയെ വെളിച്ചത്ത് കൊണ്ടുവരികയുമാണ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 പറയാൻപോലും ലജ്ജാവഹമായവയാണ് അനുസരണകെട്ടവർ രഹസ്യമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 എന്നാൽ, പ്രകാശത്താൽ എല്ലാം വെളിപ്പെടുകയും ദൃശ്യമായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും—പ്രകാശം പതിക്കുന്നവയോരോന്നും ഓരോ പ്രകാശമായിമാറും.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14 അതിനാൽ ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു: “ഉറങ്ങുന്നവരേ, ഉണരൂ, മരിച്ചവരുടെ മധ്യേനിന്ന് എഴുന്നേൽക്കൂ, അപ്പോൾ ക്രിസ്തു നിന്റെമേൽ പ്രശോഭിക്കും.”

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ ജീവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുക—അവിവേകികളായിട്ടല്ല, വിവേകികളായിത്തന്നെ ജീവിക്കുക.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 ഇത് വഷളത്തം വർധിതമായ കാലമാണ്; അതുകൊണ്ട്, ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവസരങ്ങളൊന്നും പാഴാക്കാതെ പരമാവധി പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തുക.

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 അജ്ഞാനികളാകരുത്; പിന്നെയോ കർത്താവിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം എന്തെന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരാകുക.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18 മദ്യപിച്ചു മദോന്മത്തരാകരുത്; അതു വഴിപിഴച്ച ജീവിതത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കും. നിങ്ങളോ, ദൈവാത്മാവിനാൽ നിയന്ത്രിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായി

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ, സ്തുതിഗീതങ്ങൾ, ആത്മികഗാനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയാൽ പരസ്പരം പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ കർത്താവിന് കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ ആലപിക്കുകയും

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന് സർവകാര്യങ്ങൾക്കായും എപ്പോഴും സ്തോത്രം അർപ്പിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുക.

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21 ക്രിസ്തുവിനോടുള്ള ഭയഭക്തിയിൽ പരസ്പരവിധേയത്വം പുലർത്തുക.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 ഭാര്യമാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ കർത്താവിനു വിധേയപ്പെടുന്നതുപോലെ സ്വന്തം ഭർത്താക്കന്മാർക്കും വിധേയപ്പെടുക.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 കാരണം, ക്രിസ്തു തന്റെ ശരീരമാകുന്ന സഭയുടെ ശിരസ്സും അതിന്റെ രക്ഷകനുമായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഭർത്താവ് ഭാര്യയുടെ ശിരസ്സാകുന്നു.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Assembly: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 സഭ ക്രിസ്തുവിനു വിധേയപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഭാര്യമാരും തങ്ങളുടെ ഭർത്താക്കന്മാർക്കു സകലത്തിലും വിധേയപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ.

Therefore as the Assembly is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരേ, ക്രിസ്തു സ്വന്തം ജീവൻ നൽകി സഭയെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെ സ്നേഹിക്കണം.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Assembly, and gave himself for it;

26 ക്രിസ്തു അവിടത്തെ സഭയെ വചനമാകുന്ന ജലത്താൽ കഴുകി നിർമലീകരിച്ച് വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണ്ടതിനും

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 കറ, ചുളുക്കം, മാലിന്യം എന്നിവ അശേഷം ഇല്ലാതെ വിശുദ്ധയും നിഷ്കളങ്കയുമായി തേജസ്സോടെ തനിക്കായി നിർത്തേണ്ടതിനുമാണ് അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തത്.

That he might present it to himself a glorious Assembly, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 ഇതുപോലെതന്നെ ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരും തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെ സ്വന്തം ശരീരങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു. ഭാര്യയെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവൻ യഥാർഥത്തിൽ തന്നെത്തന്നെയാണ് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നത്.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 ആരും ഒരിക്കലും സ്വന്തം ശരീരത്തെ വെറുക്കുന്നില്ല, സഭയെ ക്രിസ്തു പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അതിനെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുകയാണു ചെയ്യുന്നത്.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the Assembly:

30 നാം എല്ലാവരും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ അവയവങ്ങൾ ആണല്ലോ.

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെയാണല്ലോ വായിക്കുന്നത്, “ഈ കാരണത്താൽ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ തന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞ് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടു സംയോജിക്കും, അവരിരുവരും ഒരു ശരീരമായിത്തീരും.”

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 ഇത് മഹത്തായ ഒരു രഹസ്യം. ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെയും സഭയെയുംകുറിച്ചാണ് സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the Assembly.

33 ചുരുക്കിപ്പറഞ്ഞാൽ, നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തരും സ്വന്തം ഭാര്യയെ തന്നെപ്പോലെതന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കണം; ഭാര്യ ഭർത്താവിനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കേണ്ടതുമാണ്.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
