These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain of the Jordan River valley over against Suph, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2 ഹോരേബിൽനിന്ന് സേയീർ പർവതംവഴി കാദേശ്-ബർന്നേയയിലേക്കു പതിനൊന്നു ദിവസത്തെ യാത്രയുണ്ട്.
It is eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.
3 ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ അറിയിക്കാൻ യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതെല്ലാം അദ്ദേഹം നാൽപ്പതാംവർഷം പതിനൊന്നാംമാസം ഒന്നാംതീയതി അവരെ അറിയിച്ചു.
It happened in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the people of Israel, telling them all that Yahweh commanded him concerning them.

This was after Yahweh had attacked Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth at Edrei.

Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to announce these instructions, saying,

“Yahweh our God spoke to us at Horeb, saying, 'You have lived long enough in this hill country.

Turn and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there in the plain of the Jordan River valley, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the Negev, and by the seashore—the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the Euphrates.

Look, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land that Yahweh swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their descendants after them.'

I spoke to you at that time, saying, 'I am not able to carry you myself alone.
10 ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ വർധിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾപോലെ പെരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Yahweh your God has multiplied you, and, look, you are today as the multitude of the stars of heaven.
11 നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ ആയിരം മടങ്ങ് വർധിപ്പിച്ച്, അവിടന്ന് വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തതുപോലെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ!
May Yahweh, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!
12 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങളും ഭാരങ്ങളും പരാതികളും എങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ തനിയേ വഹിക്കും?
But how can I myself alone carry your loads, your burdens, and your disputes?
13 നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവുമുള്ള ആദരണീയരായ ചില പുരുഷന്മാരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. അവരെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ നേതാക്കന്മാരാക്കും.”
Take wise men, understanding men, and men of good repute from each tribe, and I will make them heads over you.'
14 അതിനു നിങ്ങൾ, “താങ്കൾ നിർദേശിച്ച കാര്യം നല്ലതാകുന്നു” എന്ന് എന്നോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
You answered me and said, 'The thing that you have spoken is good for us to do.'
15 അതുകൊണ്ടു ജ്ഞാനികളും ആദരണീയരുമായ പുരുഷന്മാരെ ആയിരംപേർക്ക് അധിപന്മാർ, നൂറുപേർക്ക് അധിപന്മാർ, അൻപതുപേർക്ക് അധിപന്മാർ, പത്തുപേർക്ക് അധിപന്മാർ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ നേതാക്കന്മാരായും ഗോത്രങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യസ്ഥന്മാരായും ഞാൻ നിയോഗിച്ചു.
So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and men of good repute, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, captains of hundreds, captains of fifties, captains of tens, and officers, tribe by tribe.
16 അന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരോട് ഇപ്രകാരമാണു കൽപ്പിച്ചത്, “ഇസ്രായേല്യ സഹോദരങ്ങൾതമ്മിലും ഇസ്രായേല്യരും പ്രവാസികളുമായിട്ടും ഉള്ള തർക്കങ്ങൾകേട്ട് അവർക്കിടയിൽ നീതിയുക്തമായി വിധികൽപ്പിക്കുക.
I commanded your judges at that time, saying, 'Hear the disputes between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is with him.
17 നിങ്ങൾ വിധിക്കുമ്പോൾ മുഖപക്ഷം കാണിക്കരുത്. വലിയവരുടെയും ചെറിയവരുടെയും പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഒരുപോലെ കേൾക്കണം. ന്യായവിധി ദൈവത്തിന്റേതാകുകയാൽ ആരെയും ഭയപ്പെടരുത്. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് പരിഹരിക്കാൻ പ്രയാസമുള്ള പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരിക. അവയ്ക്കു ഞാൻ തീർപ്പുകൽപ്പിക്കും.”
You will not show partiality to anyone in a dispute; you will hear the small and the great alike. You will not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God's. The dispute that is too hard for you, you will bring to me, and I will hear it.'
18 നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ട സകലകാര്യങ്ങളും അന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.

We journeyed away from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness that you saw, on our way to the hill country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God had commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.
20 അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമുക്കു തരുന്ന അമോര്യരുടെ മലനാട്ടിൽ നിങ്ങൾ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I said to you, 'You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God is giving to us.
21 ഇതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ദേശം നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പോയി അതു കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊൾക. ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ തളർന്നുപോകുകയോ അരുത്.”
Look, Yahweh your God has set the land before you; go up, take possession, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you; do not be afraid, neither be discouraged.'
22 ആ സമയം നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും എന്റെ അടുത്തുവന്നു പറഞ്ഞു: “ദേശം പര്യവേക്ഷണംചെയ്തു നാം പോകേണ്ട വഴിയും എത്തിച്ചേരേണ്ട പട്ടണങ്ങളും പറഞ്ഞുതരേണ്ടതിന് ചില പുരുഷന്മാരെ മുൻകൂട്ടി അങ്ങോട്ടയയ്ക്കുക.”
Every one of you came to me and said, 'Let us send men ahead of us, so that they may search out the land for us, and bring us word about the way by which we should attack, and about the cities to which we will come.'
23 അക്കാര്യം നല്ലതെന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നി, അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ഒരാളെവീതം പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരെ നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
The advice pleased me well; I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe.
24 അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ട് മലനാടുവരെയും പോയി എസ്കോൽ താഴ്വരവരെ ദേശം പര്യവേക്ഷണംചെയ്തു.
They turned and went up into the hill country, came to the Valley of Eshkol, and scouted it.
25 ആ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ചില ഫലങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ട് ദേശത്തെപ്പറ്റി അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു, “ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമുക്കു നൽകുന്ന ദേശം നല്ലതാകുന്നു.”
They took some of the produce of the land in their hands and brought it down to us. They also brought us word and said, 'It is a good land that Yahweh our God is giving to us.'
26 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കൽപ്പന എതിർത്തുനിന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിപ്പോകാൻ വിസമ്മതിച്ചു.
Yet you refused to attack, but rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God.
27 നിങ്ങൾ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലിരുന്ന് പിറുപിറുത്തുകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ നമ്മെ വെറുക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് നാം നശിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അമോര്യരുടെ കൈയിൽ നമ്മെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാനാണ് ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് ഞങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്.
You complained in your tents and said, “It is because Yahweh hated us that he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to give us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.
28 നാം എങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിപ്പോകും? ‘അവിടത്തെ ജനം നമ്മെക്കാൾ ബലവാന്മാരും ദീർഘകായരുമാണ്. പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ആകാശംവരെ ഉയർന്ന മതിലുകൾ ഉള്ളവയാണ്, ഞങ്ങൾ അനാക്യരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ടു’ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ് നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർ നമ്മുടെ മനോവീര്യം കെടുത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു.”
Where can we go now? Our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, 'Those people are bigger and taller than we are; their cities are large and are fortified up to the heavens; moreover, we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.'”
29 എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങൾ ഭ്രമിക്കുകയോ; അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ അരുത്.
Then I said to you, 'Do not be terrified, neither be afraid of them.
30 നിങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പായി പോകുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ, ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യും.
Yahweh your God, who goes before you, he will fight for you, like everything that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
31 മാത്രവുമല്ല, ഒരു പിതാവ് തന്റെ മകനെ വഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നതുവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നിങ്ങൾ സഞ്ചരിച്ച വഴിയിലെല്ലാം നിങ്ങളെ വഹിച്ചു എന്നു കണ്ടതല്ലേ?”
and also in the wilderness, where you have seen how Yahweh your God carried you, as a man carries his son, everywhere you went until you came to this place.'
32 ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും, കൂടാരമടിക്കേണ്ട സ്ഥലം അന്വേഷിക്കാനും പോകേണ്ട വഴി കാണിക്കാനുമായി രാത്രി അഗ്നിയായും പകൽ മേഘമായും നിങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പായി കടന്നുപോയ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.
Yet in spite of this word you did not believe Yahweh your God,
who went before you on the way to find a place for you to make camp, in fire by night and in a cloud by day.
34 യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിറുപിറുപ്പു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ, കോപിച്ചു ശപഥംചെയ്തുപറഞ്ഞു:
Yahweh heard the sound of your words and was angry; he swore and said,
35 “യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകനായ കാലേബ് ഒഴികെ ഈ ദുഷ്ടതലമുറയിലെ പുരുഷന്മാരാരും, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്ത നല്ലദേശം കാണുകയില്ല. അവൻ അതു കാണും.
'Surely not one of these men of this evil generation will see the good land that I swore to give to your ancestors,

save Caleb son of Jephunneh; he will see it. To him I will give the land that he has stepped on, and to his children, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.'
37 യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം എന്നോടും കോപിച്ച് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “നീയും അവിടെ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയില്ല.
Also Yahweh was angry with me because of you, saying, 'You also will not go in there;
38 എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ സഹശുശ്രൂഷകനായ നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവ അവിടെ പ്രവേശിക്കും. നീ അവനെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തണം. കാരണം ഇസ്രായേലിന് ആ ദേശം കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നത് അവനായിരിക്കും.
Joshua son of Nun, who stands before you, he will go in there; encourage him, for he will lead Israel to inherit it.
39 മാത്രമല്ല, കൊള്ളയായിപ്പോകുമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കരുതിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ കുട്ടികളും നന്മതിന്മകളെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇപ്പോൾ അറിവില്ലാത്തവരുമായ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുമായിരിക്കും അവിടം കൈവശമാക്കുന്നത്. ഞാൻ ആ ദേശം അവർക്കു കൊടുക്കും. അവർ അതു കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തും.
Moreover, your little children, the ones you said would be victims, who today have no knowledge of good or evil—they will go in there. To them I will give it, and they will possess it.
40 ഇപ്പോഴോ നിങ്ങൾ തിരിഞ്ഞ് ചെങ്കടൽവഴി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു യാത്രചെയ്യുക.”
But as for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness along the way to the Sea of Reeds.'
41 അപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞങ്ങൾ യഹോവയോടു പാപംചെയ്തു. നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യും.” അങ്ങനെ മലമ്പ്രദേശത്തേക്കു കയറിപ്പോകുന്നത് എളുപ്പമെന്നു വിചാരിച്ച് നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തരും യുദ്ധത്തിനുള്ള ആയുധങ്ങൾ ധരിച്ചു.
Then you answered and said to me, 'We have sinned against Yahweh; we will go up and fight, and we will follow all that Yahweh our God has commanded us to do.' Every man among you put on his weapons of war, and you were ready to attack the hill country.
42 എന്നാൽ യഹോവ എന്നോട്, “‘നിങ്ങൾ യുദ്ധത്തിനു കയറിപ്പോകുകയോ യുദ്ധംചെയ്യുകയോ അരുത്. കാരണം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെയില്ല. ശത്രുക്കളുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിങ്ങൾ പരാജയപ്പെടും’ എന്ന് അവരോടു പറയുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
Yahweh said to me, 'Say to them, “Do not attack and do not fight, for I will not be with you, and you will be defeated by your enemies.'
43 ഞാൻ അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞു, എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അതു കേൾക്കാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കൽപ്പനയോട് എതിർത്ത് സ്വന്തം ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം മലമുകളിലേക്കു പടനീക്കി.
I spoke to you in this way, but you did not listen. You rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh; you were arrogant and attacked the hill country.
44 ആ മലകളിൽ അധിവസിച്ചിരുന്ന അമോര്യർ നിങ്ങൾക്കെതിരേ വന്ന്, തേനീച്ചക്കൂട്ടംപോലെ നിങ്ങളെ സേയീരിൽനിന്ന് ഹോർമാവരെ പിൻതുടർന്ന് തുരത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
But the Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you like bees, and struck you down in Seir, as far as Hormah.
45 നിങ്ങൾ മടങ്ങിവന്ന് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ കരഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി ചെവിക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.
You returned and wept before Yahweh; but Yahweh did not listen to your voice, nor did he pay attention to you.
46 അങ്ങനെ കാദേശിൽ താമസിച്ച അത്രയുംകാലം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അവിടെത്തന്നെ താമസിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു.
So you stayed in Kadesh many days, all the days that you stayed there.
