ആവർത്തനപുസ്തകം 8
1 നിങ്ങൾ ജീവനോടെ വർധിക്കുന്നതിനും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്ക് ശപഥത്തോടുകൂടി യഹോവ വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്ത ദേശത്ത് പ്രവേശിച്ച് അവകാശം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിനും ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്ന കൽപ്പനകളെല്ലാം അനുസരിച്ചു ജീവിക്കണം.
'All the command which I am commanding thee to-day ye observe to do, so that ye live, and have multiplied, and gone in, and possessed the land which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers;
2 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ താഴ്മയുള്ളവരാക്കുന്നതിനും അവിടത്തെ കൽപ്പനകൾ അനുസരിക്കുമോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു പരിശോധിച്ച് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലുള്ളത് അറിയാനും നിങ്ങളെ ഈ നാൽപ്പതുവർഷം മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നടത്തിയതെങ്ങനെയെല്ലാം എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഓർക്കണം.
and thou hast remembered all the way which Jehovah thy God hath caused thee to go these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble thee to try thee, to know that which [is] in thy heart, whether thou dost keep His commands or not.
3 അവിടന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് താഴ്ചവരുത്തി വിശപ്പുള്ളവരാക്കിയിട്ട്; മനുഷ്യൻ കേവലം അപ്പംകൊണ്ടുമാത്രമല്ല, യഹോവയുടെ തിരുവായിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെടുന്ന സകലവചനങ്ങളാലും ജീവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിനു നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്ത മന്ന നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭക്ഷണമായി നൽകി.
'And He doth humble thee, and cause thee to hunger and doth cause thee to eat the manna (which thou hast not known, even thy fathers have not known), in order to cause thee to know that not by bread alone doth man live, but by every produce of the mouth of Jehovah man doth live.
4 ഈ നാൽപ്പതുവർഷവും നിങ്ങൾ ധരിച്ച വസ്ത്രം ദ്രവിച്ചില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലിനു വീക്കം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.
'Thy raiment hath not worn out from off thee, and thy foot hath not swelled these forty years,
5 ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ പുത്രന് ബാലശിക്ഷ നൽകി വളർത്തുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ ശിക്ഷണത്തിൽ വളർത്തുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഗ്രഹിക്കണം.
and thou hast known, with thy heart, that as a man chastiseth his son Jehovah thy God is chastising thee,
6 അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പാലിച്ച്, അവിടത്തെ വഴികളിൽ നടന്ന് അവിടത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടണം.
and thou hast kept the commands of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him.
7 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ മനോഹരമായ ഒരു ദേശത്തേക്കാണല്ലോ നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത്, അതു താഴ്വരയിൽനിന്നും കുന്നുകളിൽനിന്നും ഒഴുകുന്ന അരുവികളും ഉറവുകളും ജലാശയങ്ങളും ഉള്ള ദേശമാണ്;
'For Jehovah thy God is bringing thee in unto a good land, a land of brooks of waters, of fountains, and of depths coming out in valley and in mountain:
8 ഗോതമ്പും യവവും മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയും അത്തിവൃക്ഷവും മാതളനാരകവും ഒലിവെണ്ണയും തേനും ഉള്ള ദേശമാണ്;
a land of wheat, and barley, and vine, and fig, and pomegranate; a land of oil olive and honey;
9 സമൃദ്ധിയിൽ ഉപജീവനം കഴിക്കാവുന്നതും ഒന്നിനും കുറവില്ലാത്തതുമായ ദേശമാണ്. കല്ല് ഇരുമ്പായിരിക്കുന്നതും പർവതങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ചെമ്പ് കുഴിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നതുമായ ദേശമാണ്.
a land in which without scarcity thou dost eat bread, thou dost not lack anything in it; a land whose stones [are] iron, and out of its mountains thou dost dig brass;
10 നിങ്ങൾ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തനായശേഷം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകിയ മനോഹരദേശത്തിനുവേണ്ടി അവിടത്തേക്ക് സ്തോത്രംചെയ്യണം.
and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied, and hast blessed Jehovah thy God, on the good land which he hath given to thee.
11 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ മറക്കാതിരിക്കാനും ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകുന്ന അവിടത്തെ കൽപ്പനകളും നിയമങ്ങളും ഉത്തരവുകളും അവഗണിക്കാതിരിക്കാനും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.
'Take heed to thyself, lest thou forget Jehovah thy God so as not to keep His commands, and His judgments, and His statutes which I am commanding thee to-day;
12 അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തനായി നല്ല വീടുകൾ പണിത് അവയിൽ താമസിക്കുകയും
lest thou eat, and hast been satisfied, and good houses dost build, and hast inhabited;
13 നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുകളും കന്നുകാലികളും പെരുകുകയും വെള്ളിയും സ്വർണവും വർധിക്കുകയും നിങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള സകലതും സമൃദ്ധമായിട്ട് ഉണ്ടാകുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ,
and thy herd and thy flock be multiplied, and silver and gold be multiplied to thee; and all that is thine be multiplied:
14 നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം നിഗളിച്ച് അടിമഗൃഹമായ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ മറക്കും.
'And thy heart hath been high, and thou hast forgotten Jehovah thy God (who is bringing thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants;
15 വിഷസർപ്പവും തേളും ഉള്ള വലുതും ഭയാനകവുമായ മരുഭൂമിയിലൂടെയാണ് അവിടന്നു നിങ്ങളെ നടത്തിയത്. വെള്ളമില്ലാതെ വരണ്ടദേശത്ത് തീക്കൽപ്പാറയിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്കു വെള്ളം നൽകി.
who is causing thee to go in the great and the terrible wilderness — burning serpent, and scorpion, and thirst — where there is no water; who is bringing out to thee waters from the flinty rock;
16 നിങ്ങളെ വിനയമുള്ളവരാക്കുന്നതിനും പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നന്മയുണ്ടാകുന്നതിനും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്ത മന്നകൊണ്ട് മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് അവിടന്ന് നിങ്ങളെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
who is causing thee to eat manna in the wilderness, which thy fathers have not known, in order to humble thee, and in order to try thee, to do thee good in thy latter end),
17 “എന്റെ ശക്തിയും കൈബലവും ഈ സമ്പത്തുണ്ടാക്കി,” എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറയരുത്.
and thou hast said in thy heart, My power, and the might of my hand, hath made for me this wealth:
18 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ ഓർക്കണം. നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ശപഥംചെയ്ത അവിടത്തെ ഉടമ്പടി ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ ഉറപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവിടന്നാണല്ലോ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമ്പത്തു നേടാൻ പ്രാപ്തി നൽകുന്നത്.
'And thou hast remembered Jehovah thy God, for He it [is] who is giving to thee power to make wealth, in order to establish His covenant which He hath sworn to thy fathers as [at] this day.
19 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ മറന്ന് അന്യദേവന്മാരുടെ പിന്നാലെ പോകുകയും അവയെ വണങ്ങി നമസ്കരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിശ്ചയമായും നശിച്ചുപോകുമെന്നു ഞാൻ ഇന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്കെതിരേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.
'And it hath been — if thou really forget Jehovah thy God, and hast gone after other gods, and served them, and bowed thyself to them, I have testified against you to-day that ye do utterly perish;
20 നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് ഉന്മൂലനംചെയ്യുന്ന ജനതകളെപ്പോലെതന്നെ നിങ്ങളും നശിച്ചുപോകും.
as the nations whom Jehovah is destroying from your presence, so ye perish; because ye hearken not to the voice of Jehovah your God.
