ആവർത്തനപുസ്തകം 18
1 ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കും വിശേഷാൽ ലേവി ഗോത്രത്തിനു മുഴുവനും ഇസ്രായേലിനോടുകൂടെ ഓഹരിയും അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കരുത്. യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദഹനയാഗങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് അവർ ജീവിക്കണം, കാരണം അതാണ് അവരുടെ ഓഹരി.
The priests, the Levites, even the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; the burnt offerings of the Lord [are] their inheritance, they shall eat them.
2 അവരുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർക്കൊരു അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടാകാൻ പാടില്ല. യഹോവ അവരോടു വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവിടന്നുതന്നെയാണ് അവരുടെ ഓഹരി.
And they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself [is] his portion, as he said to him.
3 ജനത്തിൽനിന്ന് ആരെങ്കിലും കാളയെയോ ആടിനെയോ യാഗം അർപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ, പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കുള്ള ഓഹരി ഇവയാണ്: കൈക്കുറകും കവിൾത്തടം രണ്ടും ആന്തരികാവയവങ്ങളും നൽകണം.
And this [is] the due of the priests in the things coming from the people from those who offer sacrifices, whether it be a calf or a sheep; and you shall give the shoulder to the priest, and the cheeks, and the great intestine:
4 ധാന്യം, പുതുവീഞ്ഞ്, ഒലിവെണ്ണ എന്നിവയുടെ ആദ്യഫലവും നിന്റെ ആടുകളെ കത്രിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യരോമവും നീ അവർക്കു നൽകണം.
and the first fruits of your corn, and of your wine, and of your oil; and you shall give to him the first fruits of the fleeces of your sheep:
5 യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ എപ്പോഴും നിന്നു ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും അവരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
because the Lord has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand before the Lord your God, to minister and bless in his name, himself and his sons among the children of Israel.
6 ഇസ്രായേലിലെ ഏതെങ്കിലും നഗരത്തിൽ പ്രവാസിയായി താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു ലേവ്യൻ അവിടെനിന്ന് യഹോവ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു വളരെ താത്പര്യത്തോടെ വന്നാൽ
And if a Levite come from one of the cities of all the children of Israel, where he himself dwells, accordingly as his mind desires, to the place which he shall have chosen,
7 അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യാൻ നിൽക്കുന്ന ലേവ്യരായ സഹോദരന്മാരെപ്പോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്.
he shall minister to the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites, who stand there present before the Lord your God.
8 അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പിതൃസ്വത്തു വിറ്റു കിട്ടിയ പണം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, അദ്ദേഹമുൾപ്പെടെ ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യുന്ന ലേവ്യരെല്ലാവരും അവരുടെ ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ തുല്യമായി വീതിക്കണം.
He shall eat an allotted portion, besides the sale of his hereditary property.
9 നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു നീ പ്രവേശിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവിടെയുള്ള ജനതകളുടെ മ്ലേച്ഛതകൾ അനുകരിക്കാൻ അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവ പഠിക്കരുത്.
And when you shall have entered into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
10 നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ മകനെയോ മകളെയോ അഗ്നിപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യിക്കുന്നവരോ ദേവപ്രശ്നംവെക്കുന്നവരോ ആഭിചാരകരോ മൂഹൂർത്തം നോക്കുന്നവരോ ക്ഷുദ്രക്കാരോ
There shall not be found in you one who purges his son or his daughter with fire, one who uses divination, who deals with omens, and augury,
11 മന്ത്രവാദിയോ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടുകളോ ഭൂതസേവക്കാരോ പ്രേതസമ്പർക്കമുള്ളവരോ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കരുത്.
a sorcerer employing incantation, one who has in him a divining spirit, and observer of signs, questioning the dead.
12 ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരോട് യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അറപ്പാണ്. ഇത്തരം മ്ലേച്ഛതമൂലം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആ ജനതകളെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് ഓടിച്ചുകളയും.
For every one that does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God; for because of these abominations the Lord will destroy them from before your face.
13 നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിങ്ങൾ കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവരായിരിക്കണം.
You shall be perfect before the Lord your God.
14 നീ നീക്കംചെയ്യാനിരിക്കുന്ന ജനതകൾ മുഹൂർത്തക്കാരുടെയും ദേവപ്രശ്നംവെക്കുന്നവരുടെയും വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
For all these nations whose [land] you shall inherit, they will listen to omens and divinations; but the Lord your God has not permitted you so [to do].
15 നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹയിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെ ദൈവം നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കും. അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നതെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കണം.
The Lord your God shall raise up to you a prophet of your brethren, like me; him shall you hear:
16 “ഞങ്ങളെ ഇനി ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കാനും ഈ മഹാഗ്നി കാണാനും അനുവദിക്കരുതേ! അങ്ങനെയായാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോകും,” എന്ന് ഹോരേബിൽ മഹാസമ്മേളനം കൂടിയനാളിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു നിങ്ങൾ അപേക്ഷിച്ചല്ലോ.
according to all things which you did desire of the Lord your God in Choreb in the day of the assembly, saying, We will not again hear the voice of the Lord your God, and we will not any more see this great fire, and [so] we shall not die.
17 യഹോവ എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “അവർ പറഞ്ഞത് ശരിയാണ്.
And the Lord said to me, They have spoken rightly all that they have said to you.
18 ഞാൻ അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി നിന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെ അവരുടെ സഹയിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്ന് എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കും. ഞാൻ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അധരത്തിൽ നൽകും. ഞാൻ കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നതെല്ലാം അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു പറയും.
I will raise up to them a prophet of their brethren, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them as I shall command him.
19 ആ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ അവരോടു പറയുന്ന വചനങ്ങൾ ആരെങ്കിലും അനുസരിക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ ഞാൻതന്നെ അവരോടു കണക്കുചോദിക്കും.
And whatever man shall not listen to whatever words that prophet shall speak in my name, I will take vengeance on him.
20 എന്നാൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ, ഞാൻ അവനോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത വചനം എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രസ്താവിക്കുകയോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ അന്യദേവന്മാരുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സംസാരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ അവനെ വധിക്കണം.
But the prophet whoever shall impiously speak in my name a word which I have not commanded him to speak, and whoever shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
21 “ഒരു സന്ദേശം യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ അല്ല പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതെങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ അറിയും,” എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ സ്വയം പറഞ്ഞാൽ,
But if you shall say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?
22 ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രഖ്യാപനം ചെയ്യുന്നത് സംഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും സത്യമാകാതെവരികയും ചെയ്താൽ അത് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സന്ദേശമല്ല. ആ പ്രവാചകൻ അതു ധിക്കാരത്തോടെ സ്വയംകൃതമായി പറഞ്ഞതാണ്. അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്.
Whatsoever words that prophet shall speak in the name of the Lord, and they shall not come true, and not come to pass, this [is] the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken wickedly: you shall not spare him.
