1 തെയോഫിലോസേ, ഞാൻ ആദ്യം എഴുതിയ ഗ്രന്ഥം യേശു തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർക്കു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാൽ ആജ്ഞ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് സ്വർഗാരോഹണംചെയ്ത ദിവസംവരെ അവിടന്നു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചും ഉപദേശിച്ചും തുടങ്ങിയ എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുമായിരുന്നല്ലോ.
Truly, I made the first history, O Theophilus, concerning all things which Jesus began both to do and to teach,
from the day on which, having given commandment through the Holy Ghost to the apostles whom He had chosen, He was received up.
3 അവിടത്തെ ക്രൂശീകരണത്തിനുശേഷം നാൽപ്പതുദിവസംവരെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുകയും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇങ്ങനെ, അനിഷേധ്യമായ നിരവധി തെളിവുകളിലൂടെ, അവിടന്ന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നതായി യേശു അവർക്കു കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
To whom He also, after He suffered, manifested Himself alive in many testimonials, being seen by them forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:
4 ഒരു ദിവസം യേശു അവരോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഇങ്ങനെ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു, “നിങ്ങൾ ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്ന് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാതെ, പിതാവു നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകുമെന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ള വാഗ്ദാനത്തിനായി കാത്തിരിക്കണം.
and being assembled together with them, He commanded them, Not to depart from Jerusalem, but to await the promise of the Father which ye heard from me;
5 യോഹന്നാൻ ജലത്തിൽ സ്നാനം നൽകി, എന്നാൽ ചില ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ട് സ്നാനം ലഭിക്കും.”
that John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ യേശുവിന്റെ ചുറ്റുംകൂടി, “കർത്താവേ, അവിടന്ന് ഇപ്പോഴാണോ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജ്യം പുനഃസ്ഥാപിച്ചുനൽകുന്നത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Therefore indeed having assembled, they asked Him saying, Lord, do you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 അതിന് യേശു ഇങ്ങനെ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു: “പിതാവിന്റെ സ്വന്തം അധികാരപരിധിയിലുള്ള കാലഘട്ടങ്ങളെയും സമയങ്ങളെയുംകുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതില്ല.
He said to them; It is not your province, to know the times or seasons, which the Father placed in His own authority.
8 എന്നാൽ, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിങ്ങളിൽ ആവസിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ശക്തി ലഭിച്ചവരായി ജെറുശലേമിലും യെഹൂദ്യ പ്രവിശ്യയിലെല്ലായിടത്തും ശമര്യാപ്രവിശ്യയിലും ഭൂസീമകളോളവും എന്റെ സാക്ഷികളാകും.”
But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost having come upon you, and shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and all Judea, and in Samaria, and into the extremity of the earth.
9 ഈ സംഭാഷണത്തിനുശേഷം, അവർ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ, അവിടന്ന് മുകളിലേക്ക് എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഉടനെ ഒരു മേഘം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അവരുടെ കാഴ്ചയിൽനിന്നു മറച്ചു.
And having spoken these words, they looking, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him from their eyes.
10 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശു ആകാശത്തേക്ക് പോകുന്നത് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രധാരികളായ രണ്ട് പുരുഷന്മാർ അവരുടെ സമീപം നിൽക്കുന്നു!
And while they were gazing up into the heaven, He going, and behold, two men stood by them in white garments, who also said,
11 “ഗലീലക്കാരായ പുരുഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ ആകാശത്തേക്ക് തുറിച്ചുനോക്കി നിൽക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന്? നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു സ്വർഗത്തിലേക്കെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ യേശു, സ്വർഗത്തിലേക്കു പോകുന്നതായി നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ട അതേവിധത്തിൽത്തന്നെ തിരികെ വരും,” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
Ye Galilean men, why stand you looking up into the heaven? this same Jesus, the One having been received up into the heaven, will so come in the manner in which you saw Him going up into the heaven.
12 ഇതിനുശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ ഒലിവുമലയിൽനിന്ന് ഏകദേശം ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരെയുള്ള ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു തിരികെ എത്തി.
Then they returned into Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, being a journey of a Sabbath day.
13 തുടർന്ന്, അവർ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന വീടിന്റെ മുകൾനിലയിലെ മുറിയിൽ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടിയ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ: പത്രോസ്, യോഹന്നാൻ, യാക്കോബ്, അന്ത്രയോസ്; ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്, തോമസ്; ബർത്തൊലൊമായി, മത്തായി; അല്‌ഫായിയുടെ മകൻ യാക്കോബ്, ദേശീയവാദിയായിരുന്ന ശിമോൻ, യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകൻ യൂദാ.
And when they came in, they went up into the upper room, where Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James, were abiding.
14 അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയയോടും മറ്റുചില സ്ത്രീകളോടും യേശുവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടുമൊപ്പം അവിടെ ഏകമനസ്സോടെ പ്രാർഥനയിൽ തുടർന്നുവന്നു.
They were all persevering of one accord in prayer along with the women, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.
15 അന്നൊരിക്കൽ അവിടെ കൂടിയിരുന്ന ഏകദേശം നൂറ്റിയിരുപതുപേർവരുന്ന വിശ്വാസികളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്ന്, പത്രോസ് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു:
And during those days, Peter standing up in the midst of the brethren, said (and the number of names were about one hundred and twenty),
16 “സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, യേശുവിനെ അറസ്റ്റുചെയ്തവർക്കു വഴികാണിച്ച യൂദായെക്കുറിച്ചു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ദാവീദുമുഖേന പ്രവചിച്ചിരുന്ന തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിറവേറേണ്ടത് ആവശ്യമായിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
Men, brethren, it behooved the scripture which the Holy Ghost predicted through the mouth of David concerning Judas, the one becoming leader to those arresting Jesus, to be fulfilled;
17 ഞങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാളായി ശുശ്രൂഷയിൽ പങ്കാളിത്തം അവനു ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു.”
because he was numbered among us and received the lot of this ministry.
18 എന്നാൽ, അയാൾ ചെയ്ത അന്യായത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലംകൊണ്ട് യൂദാ ഒരു വയൽ വാങ്ങി. അതിൽത്തന്നെ തലകീഴായി വീണ് നടുവു തകർന്ന് അവന്റെ ആന്തരികാവയവങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം പുറത്തുചാടി.
Then indeed he purchased a field by the reward of iniquity, and falling headlong, burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels burst out;
19 ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളെല്ലാം ഇതറിഞ്ഞു, അവർ ആ നിലത്തെ അവരുടെ ഭാഷയിൽ “അക്കൽദാമാ” എന്നു വിളിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി; “രക്തത്തിന്റെ വയൽ” എന്നാണ് ഇതിനർഥം.
which indeed was known to all those dwelling at Jerusalem, so that field, in their own dialect, is called Acheldamach; that is, field of blood.
20 “‘അയാളുടെ വാസസ്ഥലം വിജനമായിത്തീരട്ടെ; അതിൽ ആരും വസിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ,’ എന്നും “‘അയാളുടെ നേതൃസ്ഥാനം മറ്റൊരാൾ സ്വീകരിക്കട്ടെ,’ എന്നും സങ്കീർത്തനപ്പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
For it has been written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let there be no one dwelling in it, and let another take his pastorate.
21 അതുകൊണ്ട്, യോഹന്നാൻ യേശുവിനു സ്നാനം നൽകിയ അന്നുമുതൽ കർത്താവായ യേശു നമ്മിൽനിന്നെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ദിവസംവരെ അവിടന്ന് നമ്മുടെ മധ്യേ സഞ്ചരിച്ച സമയമെല്ലാം നമ്മുടെ സഹചാരിയായിരുന്ന ഒരാളെ നമ്മോടൊപ്പം യേശുവിന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിനു സാക്ഷ്യംവഹിക്കാൻ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കേണ്ടത് ആവശ്യമാണ്.”
Therefore the men having come together with us all the time in which the Lord Jesus came in unto us and went out,
beginning from the baptism of John, until the day on which He was taken up from us, it behooveth one of these to be witness of His resurrection along with us.
23 അപ്പോൾ അവർ ബർശബാസ് എന്നും യുസ്തൊസ് എന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന യോസേഫ്, മത്ഥിയാസ് എന്നീ രണ്ടുപേരെ നിർദേശിച്ചു.
And they nominated two, Joseph, called Barsabas who was called Justus, and Matthias.
24 എന്നിട്ട് അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രാർഥിച്ചു: “എല്ലാവരുടെയും ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്ന കർത്താവേ, തനിക്ക് അർഹമായ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോകേണ്ടതിനു യൂദാസ് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച ഈ അപ്പൊസ്തലശുശ്രൂഷയുടെ സ്ഥാനം സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ ഈ ഇരുവരിൽ ആരെയാണ് അങ്ങു തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് കാണിച്ചുതരണമേ.”
And praying they said, Thou, O Lord, Heart-searcher of all, show up the one of these two, whom thou hast chosen
to receive the place of this ministry and apostleship from which Judas departed to go into his own place.
26 തുടർന്ന് അവർക്കായി നറുക്കിട്ടു; നറുക്ക് മത്ഥിയാസിനു വീഴുകയും അദ്ദേഹം പതിനൊന്ന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരോടുകൂടെ പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And they gave lots for them, and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
