അപ്പൊ. പ്രവൃത്തികൾ 12
1 ഈ സമയത്താണ് ഹെരോദാരാജാവ് സഭാംഗങ്ങളിൽ ചിലരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കാനായി പിടികൂടിത്തുടങ്ങിയത്.
Nowe about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hands to vexe certaine of the Church,
2 അയാൾ യോഹന്നാന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചു.
And he killed Iames the brother of Iohn with the sword.
3 അത് യെഹൂദരെ ആനന്ദിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നുകണ്ടപ്പോൾ അയാൾ പത്രോസിനെയും ബന്ധനത്തിലാക്കി. പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുന്നാളിലാണ് ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചത്.
And when he sawe that it pleased the Iewes, he proceeded further, to take Peter also (then were the dayes of vnleauened bread.)
4 അയാൾ പത്രോസിനെ ബന്ധിച്ച് കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലാക്കി നാലു പടയാളികൾവീതമുള്ള നാലു കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ മാറിമാറി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാവൽചെയ്തു. പെസഹയ്ക്കു ശേഷം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന് പരസ്യമായി വിസ്തരിക്കണമെന്നായിരുന്നു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം.
And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and deliuered him to foure quaternions of souldiers to be kept, intending after the Passeouer to bring him foorth to the people.
5 പത്രോസ് കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ സഭ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുവേണ്ടി ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer was made of ye Church vnto God for him.
6 ഹെരോദാരാജാവ് പത്രോസിനെ വിസ്താരത്തിനായി കൊണ്ടുവരാനിരുന്നതിന്റെ തലേരാത്രിയിൽ രണ്ട് പടയാളികളുടെ നടുവിൽ, രണ്ട് ചങ്ങലകളാൽ ബന്ധിതനായി പത്രോസ് കിടന്നുറങ്ങുകയും പടയാളികൾ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കൽ കാവൽനിൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾ,
And when Herod woulde haue brought him out vnto the people, the same night slept Peter betweene two souldiers, bound with two chaines, and the keepers before the doore, kept the prison.
7 പെട്ടെന്ന്, കർത്താവിന്റെ ഒരു ദൂതൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി, കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ഒരു ഉജ്ജ്വലപ്രകാശം തിളങ്ങി. ദൂതൻ പത്രോസിനെ ഒരുവശത്ത് തട്ടി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഉണർത്തി. “വേഗം എഴുന്നേൽക്കൂ!” ദൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു. പത്രോസിന്റെ കൈകളിൽനിന്ന് ചങ്ങലകൾ അഴിഞ്ഞുവീണു.
And behold the Angel of the Lord came vpon them, and a light shined in the house, and he smote Peter on the side, and raysed him vp, saying, Arise quickely. And his chaines fell off from his handes.
8 ദൂതൻ പത്രോസിനോട്, “നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രവും ചെരിപ്പും ധരിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു. “മേൽവസ്ത്രം പുതച്ചുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരിക,” ദൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
And the Angel saide vnto him, Girde thy selfe, and binde on thy sandales. And so he did. Then he said vnto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 പത്രോസ് ദൂതന്റെ പിറകേ നടന്ന് കാരാഗൃഹത്തിനു പുറത്തുവന്നു. എന്നാൽ, ദൂതൻമുഖേന സംഭവിച്ചത് യഥാർഥമാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അറിഞ്ഞില്ല. താൻ ഒരു ദർശനം കാണുകയാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ചിന്തിച്ചു.
So Peter came out and followed him, and knewe not that it was true, which was done by the Angel, but thought he had seene a vision.
10 അവർ ഒന്നാംകാവൽക്കാരെയും രണ്ടാംകാവൽക്കാരെയും കടന്ന് നഗരത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്ന ഇരുമ്പുവാതിൽക്കലെത്തി. അത് അവർക്കായി തനിയേ തുറന്നു. അവർ അതിലൂടെ പുറത്തുവന്ന് ഒരു തെരുവു കടന്നു, ഉടനെ ദൂതൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
Nowe when they were past the first and the second watch, they came vnto the yron gate, that leadeth vnto the citie, which opened to them by it owne accord, and they went out, and passed through one streete, and by and by the Angel departed from him.
11 അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസിന് ബോധം കൈവന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം, “ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ പിടിയിൽനിന്നും എനിക്ക് സംഭവിക്കുമെന്ന് യെഹൂദർ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന എല്ലാവിപത്തിൽനിന്നും കർത്താവ് തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയച്ച് എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ നിശ്ചയമായി അറിയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And when Peter was come to himselfe, he said, Nowe I know for a trueth, that the Lord hath sent his Angel, and hath deliuered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the wayting for of the people of the Iewes.
12 ഇത് ബോധ്യമായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം യോഹന്നാന്റെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയുടെ വീട്ടിൽച്ചെന്നു—ഈ യോഹന്നാന് മർക്കോസ് എന്നും പേരുണ്ടായിരുന്നു—അവിടെ വളരെപ്പേർ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി പ്രാർഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Marie, the mother of Iohn, whose surname was Marke, where many were gathered together, and prayed.
13 പത്രോസ് പുറത്തെ വാതിൽക്കൽ മുട്ടി. അപ്പോൾ രോദാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു വേലക്കാരി പെൺകുട്ടി വാതിൽ തുറക്കാൻ വന്നു.
And when Peter knocked at the entrie doore, a maide came foorth to hearken, named Rhode,
14 പത്രോസിന്റെ ശബ്ദം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൾ ആനന്ദാധിക്യത്താൽ വാതിൽ തുറക്കാതെ തിരികെ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന്, “പത്രോസ് അതാ വാതിൽക്കൽ നിൽക്കുന്നു!” എന്ന് ആശ്ചര്യത്തോടെ പറഞ്ഞു.
But when she knew Peters voyce, she opened not the entrie doore for gladnesse, but ranne in, and tolde howe Peter stood before the entrie.
15 “നിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്താണ്,” അവർ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു. “അല്ല, അദ്ദേഹംതന്നെ,” എന്ന് അവൾ തറപ്പിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. “എങ്കിൽ അത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ആയിരിക്കും,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
But they said vnto her, Thou art mad. Yet she affirmed it constantly, that it was so. Then said they, It is his Angel.
16 പത്രോസ് വാതിൽക്കൽ പിന്നെയും മുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. കതകു തുറന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കണ്ടു വിസ്മയഭരിതരായി.
But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened it, and sawe him, they were astonied.
17 ശബ്ദമുണ്ടാക്കരുതെന്ന് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പത്രോസ് അവരോട്, കർത്താവ് തന്നെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നത് എങ്ങനെയെന്ന് വിവരിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു. “യാക്കോബിനെയും ശേഷം സഹോദരങ്ങളെയും ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ അറിയിക്കണം,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കുപോയി.
And he beckened vnto them with the hand, to hold their peace, and told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he saide, Goe shewe these things vnto Iames and to the brethren: and he departed and went into an other place.
18 പ്രഭാതമായപ്പോൾ, പത്രോസിന് എന്തു സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പടയാളികൾക്കിടയിൽ വലിയ പരിഭ്രമമുണ്ടായി.
Nowe assoone as it was day, there was no small trouble among the souldiers, what was become of Peter.
19 അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കാൻ സമഗ്രമായ ഒരന്വേഷണം നടത്തിയിട്ടും കാണാഞ്ഞതിനാൽ ഹെരോദാവ് കാവൽക്കാരെ വിസ്തരിച്ച് അവരെ വധിക്കാൻ ഉത്തരവിട്ടു. അതിനുശേഷം ഹെരോദാവ് യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്ന് കൈസര്യയിലെത്തി കുറെക്കാലം അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded them to be led to be punished. And he went downe from Iudea to Cesarea, and there abode.
20 അയാൾ സോരിലെയും സീദോനിലെയും ജനങ്ങളോടു കുപിതനായിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ, ഈ സമയത്ത് അവർ ഒത്തുകൂടി അദ്ദേഹവുമായി ഒരു കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് അവസരം അന്വേഷിച്ചു. അവർ ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങൾക്കായി ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ ആശ്രയിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് രാജാവിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തസേവകരിൽ ഒരാളായ ബ്ലസ്തോസിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ സന്ധിസംഭാഷണത്തിന് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
Then Herod was angrie with them of Tyrus and Sidon, but they came all with one accord vnto him, and perswaded Blastus the Kings Chamberlaine, and they desired peace, because their countrey was nourished by the Kings land.
21 അതിനായി നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ദിവസം ഹെരോദാവ് രാജകീയവസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ അണിഞ്ഞ്, സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നുകൊണ്ട് പ്രജകളെ അഭിസംബോധനചെയ്ത് സംസാരിച്ചു.
And vpon a day appointed, Herod arayed himselfe in royall apparell, and sate on the iudgement seate, and made an oration vnto them.
22 “ഇത് മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശബ്ദമല്ല, ഒരു ദേവന്റെ ശബ്ദമാണ്,” ജനം ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചു.
And the people gaue a shoute, saying, The voyce of God, and not of man.
23 ഹെരോദാവ് ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്ത്വപ്പെടുത്താതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് കർത്താവിന്റെ ഒരു ദൂതൻ അയാളെ അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അടിച്ചുവീഴ്ത്തി. കൃമികൾ അയാളുടെ ശരീരം കാർന്നുതിന്നു; ഒടുവിൽ അയാൾ മരിച്ചു.
But immediatly the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gaue not glorie vnto God, so that he was eaten of wormes, and gaue vp the ghost.
24 എന്നാൽ, ദൈവവചനം പ്രചരിക്കുകയും അനേകർ ഈ വിശ്വാസം അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And the worde of God grewe, and multiplied.
25 ബർന്നബാസും ശൗലും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൗത്യം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയശേഷം മർക്കോസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാനെയുംകൂട്ടി ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്ന് തിരികെയെത്തി.
So Barnabas and Saul returned from Hierusalem, when they had fulfilled their office, and tooke with them Iohn, whose surname was Marke.
