2 ശമൂവേൽ 16
1 ദാവീദ് ഒലിവുമല കടന്ന് അൽപ്പദൂരം ചെന്നപ്പോൾ മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്റെ കാര്യസ്ഥനായ സീബായെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി. അദ്ദേഹം ദാവീദിനെ കാണുന്നതിനായി കാത്തുനിൽക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പക്കൽ കോപ്പിട്ടതും ഭാരം കയറ്റിയതുമായ രണ്ടു കഴുതകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ആ കഴുതകളുടെ പുറത്ത് ഇരുനൂറ് അടയും നൂറ് ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും നൂറ് അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ടയും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും കയറ്റിയിരുന്നു.
And when David was a little past the top [of the hill], behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred [loaves] of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2 “നീ ഇവയെല്ലാം കൊണ്ടുവന്നതെന്തിന്?” എന്നു രാജാവ് സീബായോടു ചോദിച്ചു. സീബ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “കഴുതകൾ രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾക്കു കയറുന്നതിനും, അടയും പഴവും അങ്ങയുടെ കൂടെയുള്ളവർക്കു തിന്നുന്നതിനും വീഞ്ഞ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽ തളർന്നുപോകുന്നവർക്കു തളർച്ച തീർക്കുന്നതിനുമാണ്.”
And the king said to Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses [are] for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.
3 അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു: “നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ പൗത്രൻ എവിടെ?” സീബാ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “അദ്ദേഹം ജെറുശലേമിൽ പാർക്കുന്നു. കാരണം, ‘ഇന്ന് ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹം എന്റെ വലിയപ്പനായ ശൗലിന്റെ രാജത്വം എനിക്കു തിരികെത്തരും,’ എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു.”
And the king said, And where [is] thy master's son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To-day shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of my father.
4 അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു സീബായോട്: “മെഫീബോശെത്തിന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതെല്ലാം ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റേതാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനു സീബ: “എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ! അങ്ങയെ ഞാൻ ആദരപൂർവം നമിക്കുന്നു. അടിയന് എന്നും തൃക്കണ്ണിൽ കൃപ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine [are] all that [pertained] to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee [that] I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5 ദാവീദുരാജാവ് ബഹൂരീമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശൗലിന്റെ കുലത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഒരുവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു. അയാൾ ഗേരയുടെ മകനും ശിമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ളവനും ആയിരുന്നു; അയാൾ ദാവീദിനെ ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു കടന്നുവന്നു.
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name [was] Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
6 അയാൾ രാജാവിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും കല്ലുവാരിയെറിഞ്ഞു; സകലപടയാളികളും പ്രത്യേക അംഗരക്ഷകരും ദാവീദിന്റെ വലത്തും ഇടത്തുമായി നീങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു.
And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men [were] on his right hand and on his left.
7 ശപിക്കുന്നതിനിടയിൽ ശിമെയി പറഞ്ഞു: “കടന്നുപോകൂ, രക്തപാതകാ! കടന്നുപോകൂ, നീചാ!
And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
8 ശൗലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ നീ ചിന്തിയ രക്തത്തിനു യഹോവ പകരം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പകരമാണല്ലോ നീ രാജാവായത്. യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിനു നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നീ രക്തം ചിന്തിയവനാണ്; അതിനാൽ നിനക്ക് അതിന്റെ ഫലം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold, thou [art taken] in thy mischief, because thou [art] a bloody man.
9 അപ്പോൾ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോട്: “ഈ ചത്ത നായ് എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നല്ലോ! ഞാൻ ചെന്ന് അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 എന്നാൽ രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞു: “സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഇതിൽ എന്തുകാര്യം? അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ. ‘ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്കുക,’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അവനോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പിന്നെ ‘നീ ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ത്?’ എന്നു ചോദിക്കാൻ ആർക്കാണ് അവകാശം?”
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said to him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so?
11 പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുമായി പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ മാംസമായ എന്റെ സ്വന്തമകൻ എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്താൻ നോക്കുന്നു. പിന്നെ ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതിൽ എന്താണാശ്ചര്യം. അയാളെ വിടുക, അയാൾ ശപിക്കട്ടെ. അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാൻ യഹോവ അയാളോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now [may this] Benjaminite [do it]? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.
12 യഹോവ എന്റെ കഷ്ടതയെ കടാക്ഷിക്കുകയും ഇന്ന് എനിക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന ശാപത്തിനു പകരമായി അവിടത്തെ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തേക്കാം!”
It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.
13 അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനവും വീഥിയിലൂടെ യാത്രതുടർന്നു. ശിമെയിയും അവർക്കെതിരേ മലഞ്ചെരിവിലൂടെ പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. പോകുമ്പോൾ അയാൾ ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്കുകയും കല്ലും ചെളിയും വാരിയെറിയുകയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 രാജാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പമുള്ള സകലജനവും തളർന്ന് അവശരായി ലക്ഷ്യസ്ഥാനത്ത് എത്തി. അവിടെ അവർ വിശ്രമിച്ചു.
And the king, and all the people that [were] with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15 ഇതിനിടെ അബ്ശാലോമും സകല ഇസ്രായേൽജനവും ജെറുശലേമിലെത്തി. അഹീഥോഫെലും അവരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനും അർഖ്യനുമായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുത്തുവന്ന്: “രാജാവ് നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ! രാജാവ് നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്ന് ആശംസിച്ചു.
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17 അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോട്: “നീ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു കാണിക്കുന്ന സ്നേഹം ഇതാണോ? നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടി നീ പോകാതിരുന്നതെന്തുകൊണ്ട്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Absalom said to Hushai, [Is] this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18 ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ സർവജനവും തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന ആളിന്റെ ഭാഗത്താണു ഞാൻ. അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഞാൻ നിൽക്കും.
And Hushai said to Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19 അതും കൂടാതെ, ആരെയാണു ഞാൻ സേവിക്കേണ്ടത്? എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകനെയല്ലേ? ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ പിതാവിനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ അങ്ങയെയും സേവിക്കും.”
And again, whom should I serve? [should I] not [serve] in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.
20 “നാം എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്; താങ്കളുടെ ഉപദേശമെന്ത്?” എന്ന് അബ്ശാലോം അഹീഥോഫെലിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
21 അഹീഥോഫെൽ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “കൊട്ടാരം സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി അങ്ങയുടെ പിതാവ് വിട്ടിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളോടുകൂടെ അങ്ങു കിടക്കപങ്കിടണം. അപ്പോൾ അങ്ങ് സ്വപിതാവിന്റെ വെറുപ്പിനുപാത്രമായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സകല ഇസ്രായേലും കേൾക്കുകയും അങ്ങയോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവരുടെ കരങ്ങൾ കരുത്താർജിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred by thy father: then shall the hands of all that [are] with thee be strong.
22 അങ്ങനെ അവർ അബ്ശാലോമിനുവേണ്ടി മട്ടുപ്പാവിനുമുകളിൽ ഒരു കൂടാരം ഒരുക്കി. സകല ഇസ്രായേലും കാൺകെ അയാൾ സ്വപിതാവിന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളോടുകൂടെ കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടു.
So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23 അക്കാലത്ത് അഹീഥോഫെൽ നൽകുന്ന ഉപദേശങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെയായിരുന്നു. ആയതിനാൽ ദാവീദും അബ്ശാലോമും അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ഉപദേശങ്ങളെ മാനിച്ചത് ആ വിധംതന്നെയായിരുന്നു.
And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in those days, [was] as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so [was] all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
