2 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 9
1 പ്രവാചകനായ എലീശാ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരാളെ വിളിച്ച് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നീ അര കെട്ടി ഈ തൈലപ്പാത്രവുമെടുത്ത് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുക.
Now the prophet Elisha called one of the sons of the prophets, and he said to him: “Gird your waist, and take this little bottle of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.
2 നീ അവിടെയെത്തുമ്പോൾ നിംശിയുടെ പൗത്രനും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രനുമായ യേഹുവിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുക. അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്, അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരുടെ മധ്യേനിന്ന് അവനെ ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് അകത്തെ മുറിയിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുക.
And when you arrive in that place, you will see Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. And upon entering, you shall raise him up from the midst of his brothers, and you shall lead him into an inner room.
3 അതിനുശേഷം തൈലപ്പാത്രമെടുത്ത് തൈലം അവന്റെ തലയിലൊഴിച്ചിട്ട്, ‘ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞശേഷം വാതിൽ തുറന്ന് ഓടിപ്പോരിക!”
And taking the little bottle of oil, you shall pour it upon his head, and you shall say: ‘Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you as king over Israel.’ And you shall open the door and flee. And you shall not remain in that place.”
4 അങ്ങനെ ആ യുവപ്രവാചകൻ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.
Therefore, the young man, a servant of the prophet, went away to Ramoth Gilead.
5 അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെയെത്തിയപ്പോൾ സൈന്യാധിപന്മാർ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. “സൈന്യാധിപാ! എനിക്കങ്ങയോട് ഒരു സന്ദേശം അറിയിക്കാനുണ്ട്,” എന്ന് അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു. “ഞങ്ങളിൽ ആരോട്,” എന്ന് യേഹു ചോദിച്ചു. “സൈന്യാധിപാ, അങ്ങയോടുതന്നെ,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And he entered that place, and behold, the leaders of the army were sitting there, and he said, “I have a word for you, O prince.” And Jehu said, “For which one among us all?” And he said, “For you, O prince.”
6 യേഹു എഴുന്നേറ്റു വീടിനുള്ളിലേക്കു കടന്നു. അപ്പോൾ ആ പ്രവാചകൻ യേഹുവിന്റെ തലയിൽ തൈലം ഒഴിച്ചിട്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഞാൻ നിന്നെ യഹോവയുടെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
And he rose up and entered into the room. And he poured the oil on his head, and he said: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you as king over Israel, the people of the Lord.
7 നിന്റെ യജമാനനായ ആഹാബുഗൃഹത്തെ നീ നശിപ്പിക്കണം; എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ രക്തത്തിനും, ഈസബേൽ ചൊരിഞ്ഞ യഹോവയുടെ സകലദാസന്മാരുടെയും രക്തത്തിനും ഞാൻ പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യും.
And you shall strike down the house of Ahab, your lord. And I will avenge the blood of my servants, the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, from the hand of Jezebel.
8 ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹം അശേഷം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകും; ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് ദാസനോ സ്വതന്ത്രനോ ആയി ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ശേഷിക്കുന്ന അവസാനത്തെ പുരുഷപ്രജയെയും ഞാൻ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.
And I will destroy the entire house of Ahab. And I will cause to pass away from Ahab, whatever urinates against a wall, and whatever is lame, and whatever is least in Israel.
9 ഞാൻ ആഹാബുഗൃഹത്തെ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹംപോലെയും അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശയുടെ ഗൃഹംപോലെയും ആക്കിത്തീർക്കും.
And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha, the son of Ahijah.
10 ഈസബേലിനെ യെസ്രീലിന്റെ മണ്ണിൽവെച്ച് നായ്ക്കൾ തിന്നുകളയും; അവളെ സംസ്കരിക്കാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല.’” ഇത്രയും പറഞ്ഞതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം കതകുതുറന്ന് ഓടിപ്പോയി.
Also, the dogs will consume Jezebel, in the field of Jezreel. Neither will there be anyone who may bury her.’” And then he opened the door, and he fled.
11 യേഹു തന്നോടൊപ്പമുള്ള സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വെളിയിലേക്കു വന്നപ്പോൾ അവരിൽ ഒരാൾ: “എല്ലാം ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നോ? ഈ ഭ്രാന്തൻ താങ്കളുടെ അടുത്തേക്കു വന്നത് എന്തിനാണ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ആ മനുഷ്യനെ അറിയാമല്ലോ! എങ്ങനെയുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളാണ് അയാൾ പറയുകയെന്നും അറിയാമല്ലോ,” എന്ന് യേഹു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Jehu went out to the servants of his lord. And they said to him: “Is everything well? Why has this insane man come to you?” And he said to them, “You know the man, and what he said.”
12 “അതു ശരിയല്ല; കാര്യം ഞങ്ങളോടു പറയൂ!” എന്ന് അവർ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. “‘ഇതാ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു,’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നാണ് അയാൾ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞത്,” എന്ന് യേഹു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
But they responded, “That is false; instead, you should tell us.” And he said to them, “He said to me these certain things, and he said, ‘Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you as king over Israel.’”
13 അവർ അതിവേഗം തങ്ങളുടെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായങ്ങൾ അഴിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ പടികളിന്മേൽ വിരിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം അവർ കാഹളമൂതി, “യേഹു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു!” എന്നു വിളംബരംചെയ്തു.
And so they hurried away. And each one, taking his cloak, placed it under his feet, in the manner of a seat for judgment. And they sounded the trumpet, and they said: “Jehu reigns!”
14 അങ്ങനെ നിംശിയുടെ പൗത്രനും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രനുമായ യേഹു യോരാമിനെതിരേ ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തി (ഈ സമയത്ത് യോരാമും സകല ഇസ്രായേലും അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനെതിരേ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽ കാവൽപ്പട്ടാളത്തെ ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു.
Then Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. Now Joram had besieged Ramoth Gilead, he and all of Israel, against Hazael, the king of Syria.
15 എന്നാൽ അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലുമായുണ്ടായ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ അരാമ്യർ തനിക്കേൽപ്പിച്ച മുറിവുകൾ ചികിത്സിച്ചു ഭേദമാക്കുന്നതിന് യോരാംരാജാവ് യെസ്രീലിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്നു). അതുകൊണ്ട് യേഹു പറഞ്ഞു, “നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കിൽ യെസ്രീലിൽ ചെന്ന് ഈ വിവരം അറിയിക്കുന്നതിന് നഗരത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരുവനെയും വിട്ടയയ്ക്കരുത്.”
And he had returned, so that he might be cured at Jezreel, because of his wounds. For the Syrians had struck him, while he was fighting against Hazael, the king of Syria. And Jehu said, “If it pleases you, let no one depart, fleeing from the city; otherwise he may go and give a report in Jezreel.”
16 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽക്കയറി യെസ്രീലിലേക്ക് ഓടിച്ചുപോയി; കാരണം യോരാം അവിടെ വിശ്രമത്തിലായിരുന്നു; യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാണുന്നതിനായി അങ്ങോട്ടു പോയിരുന്നു.
And he climbed up and set out for Jezreel, because Joram was sick there, and Ahaziah, the king of Judah, had gone down to visit Joram.
17 യെസ്രീലിന്റെ ഗോപുരത്തിങ്കൽ നിന്നിരുന്ന നിരീക്ഷകൻ യേഹുവിന്റെ സൈന്യം സമീപിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “കുറെ പടയാളികൾ ഇങ്ങോട്ടു വരുന്നതു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു.” അപ്പോൾ യോരാം: “ഒരു കുതിരച്ചേവകനെ വിളിക്കുക. ‘നിങ്ങൾ സമാധാനവുമായി വരികയാണോ?’ എന്ന് അയാൾ ചെന്ന് അവരോടു ചോദിക്കട്ടെ.” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
And so the watchman, who was standing upon the tower of Jezreel, saw the crowd of Jehu arriving, and he said, “I see a crowd.” And Joram said: “Take a chariot, and send to meet them. And those who go should say, ‘Is everything well?’”
18 അങ്ങനെ ഒരുത്തൻ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തുകയറി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്ന്, “‘നിങ്ങൾ സമാധാനവുമായാണോ വരുന്നത്,’ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “സമാധാനംകൊണ്ട് നിനക്ക് എന്തുകാര്യം? നീ എന്റെ പിന്നണിയിൽ ചേർന്നുകൊള്ളുക,” എന്ന് യേഹു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. “സന്ദേശവാഹകൻ അവരുടെ അടുത്തെത്തി. പക്ഷേ, അയാൾ തിരിച്ചു വരുന്നില്ല,” എന്നു നിരീക്ഷകൻ അറിയിച്ചു.
Therefore, he who had climbed into the chariot went away to meet him, and he said, “The king says this: ‘Is everything peaceful?’” And Jehu said: “What peace is there for you? Pass by and follow me.” Also the watchman gave a report, saying, “The messenger went to them, but he did not return.”
19 അതുകൊണ്ടു രാജാവ് രണ്ടാമതും ഒരു കുതിരച്ചേവകനെ അയച്ചു. അയാളും അവരുടെ അടുത്തുവന്ന്, “‘നിങ്ങൾ സമാധാനവുമായാണോ വരുന്നത്,’ എന്നു രാജാവ് ചോദിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “സമാധാനംകൊണ്ട് നിനക്ക് എന്തുകാര്യം? നീ എന്റെ പിന്നണിയിൽ ചേർന്നുകൊള്ളുക,” എന്ന് യേഹു അയാളോടും മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
And then he sent a second chariot of horses. And he went to them, and he said, “The king says this: ‘Is there peace?’” And Jehu said: “What peace is there for you? Pass by and follow me.”
20 നിരീക്ഷകൻ അറിയിച്ചു: “അയാളും അവരുടെ അടുത്തെത്തി. എന്നാൽ അയാളും തിരികെ വരുന്നില്ല. രഥം ഓടിക്കുന്നത്, നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹു ഓടിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു—ഒരു ഭ്രാന്തനെപ്പോലെയാണല്ലോ അദ്ദേഹം ഓടിക്കുന്നത്!”
Then the watchman gave a report, saying: “He went all the way to them, but he did not return. But their advance is like the advance of Jehu, the son of Nimshi. For he advances precipitously.”
21 “എന്റെ രഥം പൂട്ടുക,” എന്നു യോരാം ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു. അതു പൂട്ടിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യോരാമും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവും അവരവരുടെ രഥങ്ങളിൽക്കയറി യേഹുവിനെ എതിരേൽക്കുന്നതിനായി ഓടിച്ചുപോയി. യെസ്രീല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ വകയായിരുന്ന നിലത്തിനരികെയുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ച് അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി.
And Joram said, “Yoke the chariot.” And they yoked his chariot. And Joram, the king of Israel, and Ahaziah, the king of Judah, departed, each in his chariot. And they went out to meet Jehu. And they met him in the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite.
22 യേഹുവിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യോരാം ചോദിച്ചു: “യേഹുവേ, നീ സമാധാനവുമായാണോ വരുന്നത്?” യേഹു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “നിന്റെ അമ്മയായ ഈസബേലിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയും ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗവും പെരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നകാലത്തോളം എങ്ങനെ സമാധാനമുണ്ടാകും?”
And when Joram had seen Jehu, he said, “Is there peace, Jehu?” And he responded: “What is peace? For still the fornications of your mother, Jezebel, and her many poisons, are thriving.”
23 അപ്പോൾ യോരാം അഹസ്യാവിനോട്, “അഹസ്യാവേ, ഇതു ദ്രോഹം!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് രഥം തിരിച്ച് ഓടിച്ചുപോയി.
Then Joram turned his hand, and, fleeing, he said to Ahaziah, “Treachery, Ahaziah!”
24 അപ്പോൾ യേഹു തന്റെ വില്ലുകുലച്ച് യോരാമിന്റെ തോളുകൾക്കിടയിൽ എയ്തു. അമ്പ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം തുളച്ചുകയറി; അദ്ദേഹം ഉടനടി തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽ വീണു.
But Jehu bent his bow with his hand, and he struck Joram between the shoulders. And the arrow went through his heart, and immediately he fell in his chariot.
25 യേഹു തന്റെ തേരാളിയായ ബിദ്കാരിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “അയാളെ എടുത്ത് യെസ്രീല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ വകയായിരുന്ന നിലത്തിലേക്ക് എറിഞ്ഞുകളയുക. ഇവന്റെ പിതാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഞാനും നീയും രഥമോടിച്ചുപോയതും അന്ന് യഹോവ അയാളെക്കുറിച്ച് ഈ പ്രവചനം നടത്തിയതും ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളുക:
And Jehu said to Bidkar, his commander: “Take and cast him into the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite. For I remember, when you and I, sitting in a chariot, were following Ahab, this man’s father, that the Lord lifted this burden upon him, saying:
26 ‘യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇന്നലെ ഞാൻ നാബോത്തിന്റെയും അയാളുടെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെയും രക്തം കണ്ടു. ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചുതന്നെ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അതിനുപകരം കൊടുപ്പിക്കും എന്ന് യഹോവ വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.’ അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടനുസരിച്ച് അയാളെ എടുത്ത് ആ സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയുക.”
‘Certainly, I will repay you in this field, says the Lord, for the blood of Naboth, and for the blood of his sons, which I saw yesterday, says the Lord.’ Therefore, take him now, and cast him into the field, in accord with the word of the Lord.”
27 സംഭവിച്ചതെന്താണെന്ന് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവ് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ബേത്ത്-ഹഗ്ഗാനുനേരേയുള്ള വഴിയിലൂടെ ഓടി. “അവനെയും വെട്ടിക്കളയുക,” എന്ന് യേഹു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അവർ അയാളെ യിബ്ലെയാമിനു സമീപം ഗൂരിലേക്കുള്ള കയറ്റത്തിൽവെച്ച് രഥത്തിൽവെച്ചുതന്നെ വെട്ടി. എന്നാൽ അഹസ്യാവ് മെഗിദ്ദോവിലേക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
But Ahaziah, the king of Judah, seeing this, fled along the way of the garden house. And Jehu pursued him, and he said, “Strike this one also in his chariot.” And they struck him on the ascent to Gur, which is beside Ibleam. But he fled into Megiddo, and he died there.
28 അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രഥത്തിൽത്തന്നെ ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയും ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലുള്ള സ്വന്തം കല്ലറയിൽ അടക്കംചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And his servants placed him upon his chariot, and they took him to Jerusalem. And they buried him in the sepulcher with his fathers, in the city of David.
29 ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാമാണ്ടിൽ അഹസ്യാവ് യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ രാജാവായിത്തീർന്നിരുന്നു.
In the eleventh year of Joram, the son of Ahab, Ahaziah reigned over Judah.
30 അതിനുശേഷം യേഹു യെസ്രീലിലേക്കു വരുന്നതായിക്കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഈസബേൽ കണ്ണെഴുതി, മുടിചീകി, ഒരുങ്ങി ഒരു ജനാലയിൽക്കൂടി പുറത്തേക്കു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And Jehu went into Jezreel. But Jezebel, hearing of his arrival, painted her eyes with cosmetics, and adorned her head. And she watched through a window,
31 യേഹു കൊട്ടാരകവാടംകടന്നു വന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ വിളിച്ചുചോദിച്ചു: “യജമാനന്റെ കൊലപാതകിയായ സിമ്രീ, നീ സമാധാനവുമായാണോ വരുന്നത്?”
as Jehu was entering through the gate. And she said, “Is it possible for there to be peace for Zimri, who killed his lord?”
32 അദ്ദേഹം മുകളിലത്തെ ജനാലയിങ്കലേക്കുനോക്കി, “ആരുണ്ട്, എന്റെ പക്ഷത്ത്? ആരുണ്ട്?” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുചോദിച്ചു. രണ്ടുമൂന്നു ഷണ്ഡന്മാർ പുറത്തേക്കുനോക്കി.
And Jehu lifted up his face to the window, and he said, “Who is this woman?” And two or three eunuchs bowed down before him.
33 “അവളെ താഴേ തള്ളിയിടുക!” എന്ന് യേഹു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അതിനാൽ അവർ അവളെ താഴേക്കു തള്ളിയിട്ടു. യേഹു അവളെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു. അവളുടെ രക്തം മതിലിന്മേലും കുതിരകളിന്മേലും തെറിച്ചു.
And he said to them, “Throw her down with force.” And they threw her forcefully, and the wall was splattered with her blood, and the hoofs of the horses trampled her.
34 യേഹു ഉള്ളിൽച്ചെന്ന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുകയും പാനംചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “ആ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ രാജപുത്രിയായിരുന്നല്ലോ! അവളെ ചെന്നുനോക്കി മറവുചെയ്യുക!” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
And when he had entered, so that he might eat and drink, he said: “Go, and see to that cursed woman, and bury her. For she is the daughter of a king.”
35 എന്നാൽ അവളെ മറവുചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവളുടെ തലയോടും പാദങ്ങളും കൈപ്പത്തികളുമല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും അവർ കണ്ടില്ല.
But when they had gone, so that they might bury her, they found nothing but the skull, and the feet, and the ends of her hands.
36 അവർ തിരിച്ചുചെന്ന് യേഹുവിനോടു വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം: “യെസ്രീലിന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തുവെച്ച് നായ്ക്കൾ ഈസബേലിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നും.
And returning, they reported to him. And Jehu said: “It is the word of the Lord, which he spoke through his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, saying: ‘In the field of Jezreel, the dogs will consume the flesh of Jezebel.
37 ‘ഇത് ഈസബേലാണ്,’ എന്ന് ആർക്കും പറയാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം ഈസബേലിന്റെ ശവം യെസ്രീൽപ്രദേശത്ത് വയലിലെ ചാണകംപോലെയാകും എന്നു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലിയാവ് എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസൻമുഖേന യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരമാണിത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
