2 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 4

1 പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിലെ ഒരുവന്റെ വിധവ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചത്: “യജമാനനേ! അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് മരിച്ചുപോയി. അദ്ദേഹം യഹോവാഭക്തനായിരുന്നെന്ന് അങ്ങേക്കറിയാമല്ലോ. എന്നാൽ, അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പണം കടംകൊടുത്ത ആൾ എന്റെ രണ്ട് ആൺമക്കളെയും ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അടിമകളാക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.”

And one of the wiues of the sonnes of the Prophets cryed vnto Elisha, saying, Thy seruant mine husband is dead, and thou knowest, that thy seruant did feare the Lord: and the creditour is come to take my two sonnes to bee his bondmen.

2 എലീശ അവളോട്: “നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം? പറയൂ, നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ എന്തുണ്ട്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഒരു കുപ്പി ഒലിവെണ്ണയല്ലാതെ അവിടത്തെ ദാസിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിൽ മറ്റു യാതൊന്നുമില്ല,” എന്ന് അവൾ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Elisha saide vnto her, What shall I do for thee? tell mee, what hast thou at home? And she sayd, Thine handmayd hath nothing at home, saue a pitcher of oyle.

3 എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞു: “നിന്റെ അയൽക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കൽപോയി കഴിയുന്നത്രയും ഒഴിഞ്ഞ പാത്രങ്ങൾ കടംവാങ്ങുക; പാത്രങ്ങൾ കുറവായിപ്പോകരുത്.

And he sayde, Goe, and borowe thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, emptie vessels, and spare not.

4 പിന്നെ, നീയും മക്കളും അകത്തു പ്രവേശിച്ച് വാതിലടയ്ക്കുക; അതിനുശേഷം, ഓരോ പാത്രത്തിലേക്കും കുപ്പിയിലുള്ള ഒലിവെണ്ണ പകരുക; ഓരോന്നും നിറയുമ്പോൾ അവ ഒരു ഭാഗത്തേക്ക് മാറ്റിവെക്കുക.”

And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore vpon thee and vpon thy sonnes, and powre out into all those vessels, and set aside those that are full.

5 അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തുനിന്നു പോയി, മക്കളെയുംകൂട്ടി അകത്തുകടന്നു വാതിലടച്ചു. കുട്ടികൾ പാത്രങ്ങൾ എടുത്തുകൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടും അവൾ എണ്ണ പകർന്നുകൊണ്ടുമിരുന്നു.

So shee departed from him, and shut the doore vpon her, and vpon her sonnes. And they brought to her, and she powred out.

6 പാത്രങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ “വേറെ ഒരെണ്ണംകൂടി കൊണ്ടുവരിക,” എന്ന് അവൾ തന്റെ മകനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. “ഇനിയും ഒരുപാത്രംപോലുമില്ല,” എന്ന് അവൻ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ എണ്ണയുടെ പ്രവാഹവും നിലച്ചു.

And when the vessels were full, shee sayde vnto her sonne, Bring mee yet a vessel. And hee said vnto her, There is no moe vessels. And the oyle ceased.

7 അവൾ ചെന്ന് ദൈവപുരുഷനോടു വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു. “പോയി എണ്ണ വിറ്റ് നിന്റെ കടങ്ങൾവീട്ടുക. ശേഷിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് നിനക്കും മക്കൾക്കും ഉപജീവനം കഴിക്കാം,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then shee came and tolde the man of God. And he saide, Goe, and sell the oyle, and pay them that thou art in debt vnto, and liue thou and thy children of the rest.

8 ഒരിക്കൽ എലീശ ശൂനേമിലേക്കു പോയി. അവിടെ ധനികയായൊരു സ്ത്രീ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒരുനേരത്തെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനു തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെല്ലാൻ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് അദ്ദേഹം അതുവഴി പോകുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായി അവരുടെ ഭവനത്തിൽ കയറുമായിരുന്നു.

And on a time Elisha came to Shunem, and there a woman of great estimation constrained him to eate bread: and as he passed by, he turned in thither to eate bread.

9 അവൾ തന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനോട്: “ഇതുവഴിയായി കൂടെക്കൂടെ വരുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹം വിശുദ്ധനായ ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷനാണെന്നു ഞാൻ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു.

And she sayde vnto her husband, Beholde, I know now, that this is an holy man of God that passeth by vs continually.

10 നമുക്ക് നമ്മുടെ മട്ടുപ്പാവിൽ ഒരു ചെറിയ മുറി ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിൽ ഒരു കട്ടിലും ഒരു മേശയും ഒരു കസേരയും ഒരു നിലവിളക്കും വെക്കാം. അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു നമ്മുടെ അടുത്തു വരുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ അവിടെ പാർക്കാമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Let vs make him a litle chamber, I pray thee, with walles, and let vs set him there a bed, and a table, and a stoole, and a candlesticke, that hee may turne in thither when hee commeth to vs.

11 ഒരു ദിവസം എലീശാ വന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം മുകളിൽ തന്റെ മുറിയിൽ പോയി അവിടെ കിടന്നു.

And on a day, hee came thither and turned into the chamber, and lay therein,

12 അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ ഗേഹസിയോട്, “ശൂനേംകാരിയെ വിളിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അയാൾ അവളെ വിളിച്ചു; അവൾ വന്ന് എലീശായുടെമുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

And sayd to Gehazi his seruant, Call this Shunammite: and when hee called her, she stood before him.

13 എലീശാ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോട്, “‘നീ ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ഇത്രമാത്രം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു സഹിക്കുന്നല്ലോ! ഞങ്ങൾ നിനക്ക് എന്തു ചെയ്തുതരണം? ഞങ്ങൾ നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി രാജാവിനോടോ സേനാധിപതിയോടോ സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടോ?’ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “അടിയൻ സ്വജനങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ പാർക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവൾ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

Then he sayd vnto him, Say vnto her now, Beholde, thou hast had all this great care for vs, what shall we doe for thee? Is there any thing to bee spoken for thee to the King or to the captaine of the hoste? And shee answered, I dwell among mine owne people.

14 “അവൾക്കുവേണ്ടി എന്തുചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയും?” എന്ന് എലീശാ വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു. “അവൾക്ക് മകനില്ല; അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവ് വൃദ്ധനുമാണ്,” എന്ന് ഗേഹസി മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

Againe he sayde, What is then to be done for her? Then Gehazi answered, In deede she hath no sonne, and her husband is olde.

15 അപ്പോൾ എലീശാ, “അവളെ വിളിക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. ഗേഹസി അവളെ വിളിച്ചു; അവൾ വന്നു വാതിൽക്കൽ നിന്നു.

Then said he, Cal her. And hee called her, and shee stoode in the doore.

16 എലീശാ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “അടുത്തവർഷം ഈ സമയമാകുമ്പോഴേക്കും നിനക്ക് മാറോടണച്ച് ഓമനിക്കാൻ ഒരു മകൻ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.” “അരുതേ! ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എന്റെ യജമാനനേ, അവിടത്തെ ദാസിയോടു വ്യാജം സംസാരിക്കരുതേ!” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, At this time appointed, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a sonne. And she sayd, Oh my Lord, thou man of God, doe not lye vnto thine handmayd.

17 എന്നാൽ ആ സ്ത്രീ ഗർഭിണിയായി. എലീശ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ, പിറ്റേവർഷം ആ സമയം ആയപ്പോൾ അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

So the woman conceiued, and bare a sonne at that same season, according to the time of life, that Elisha had sayd vnto her.

18 ബാലൻ വളർന്നുവന്നു. ഒരു ദിവസം അവൻ വയലിൽ കൊയ്ത്തുകാരോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്ന തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കുചെന്നു.

And when the childe was growen, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father, and to the reapers.

19 “എന്റെ തല! എന്റെ തല!” എന്ന് അവൻ പിതാവിനോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ പിതാവ് ഒരു ഭൃത്യനെ വിളിച്ച്, “ഇവനെ അമ്മയുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he sayde to his father, Mine head, mine head. Who sayd to his seruant, Beare him to his mother.

20 ഭൃത്യൻ ബാലനെ എടുത്ത് അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്ന് ആക്കിയതിനുശേഷം ഉച്ചവരെ അവൻ അമ്മയുടെ മടിയിൽ ഇരുന്നു; പിന്നെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

And hee tooke him and brought him to his mother, and hee sate on her knees till noone, and dyed.

21 അവൾ ബാലനെ മുകളിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ കിടക്കയിൽ കിടത്തി. പിന്നെ അവൾ വാതിലടച്ചു വെളിയിൽ വന്നു.

Then shee went vp, and layed him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the doore vpon him, and went out.

22 അവൾ തന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ച്, “എനിക്കു വേഗത്തിൽ ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നിട്ടു മടങ്ങിവരേണ്ടതിനു ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരുവനെയും ഒരു കഴുതയെയും അയച്ചുതന്നാലും!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then she called to her husband, and sayd, Send with me, I pray thee, one of the yong men and one of the asses: for I will haste to the man of God, and come againe.

23 “നീ ഇന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് എന്തിനു പോകുന്നു? ഇന്ന് അമാവാസിയോ ശബ്ബത്തോ അല്ലല്ലോ,” എന്ന് അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു. “അതിൽ കുഴപ്പമില്ല,” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he sayd, Wherefore wilt thou goe to him to day? it is neither newe moone nor Sabbath day. And she answered, All shalbe well.

24 അവൾ കഴുതയ്ക്കു കോപ്പിട്ട് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോട്, “തെളിച്ചു വിട്ടുകൊള്ളൂ. ഞാൻ പറയാതെ വേഗം കുറയ്ക്കരുത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then she sadled an asse, and sayde to her seruant, Driue, and goe forward: staye not for me to get vp, except I bid thee.

25 അങ്ങനെ അവൾ പുറപ്പെട്ടു കർമേൽമലയിൽ ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കലെത്തി. അവളെ ദൂരത്തു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ ഗേഹസിയോട്: “നോക്കൂ! അതാ, ശൂനേംകാരി!

So she went, and came vnto the man of God to mount Carmel. And when the man of God sawe her ouer against him, he sayd to Gehazi his seruant, Beholde, the Shunammite.

26 ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് അവളെക്കണ്ട്, ‘നിനക്കു ക്ഷേമംതന്നെയോ? നിന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നോ? നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞും സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നോ?’ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “എല്ലാവർക്കും സുഖംതന്നെ,” എന്ന് അവൾ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

Runne nowe, I say, to meete her, and say vnto her, Art thou in health? is thine husband in health? and is the child in health? And she answered, We are in health.

27 അവൾ പർവതത്തിൽ ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പാദങ്ങളിൽ കെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ചു. അവളെ പിടിച്ചുമാറ്റുന്നതിനായി ഗേഹസി വന്നു. അപ്പോൾ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ: “അവളെ വിടുക! അവൾക്കു കഠിനമായ ദുഃഖമുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ യഹോവ അത് എന്നെ അറിയിക്കാതെ മറച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And when shee came to the man of God vnto the moutaine, she caught him by his feete: and Gehazi went to her, to thrust her away: but the man of God said, Let her alone: for her soule is vexed within her, and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told it mee.

28 “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയോട് ഒരു മകനെ ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നോ? എന്നെ ചതിക്കരുതേ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then she said, Did I desire a sonne of my lord? did I not say, Deceiue me not?

29 എലീശാ ഗേഹസിയോട്: “നിന്റെ അര മുറുക്കി എന്റെ വടിയും കൈയിലെടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുക. നീ ആരെയെങ്കിലും കണ്ടാൽ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യരുത്, ആരെങ്കിലും നിന്നെ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്താൽ പ്രത്യഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യുകയുമരുത്. എന്റെ വടി ബാലന്റെ മുഖത്ത് വെക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then he sayd to Gehazi, Gird thy loynes, and take my staffe in thine hand, and goe thy way: if thou meete any, salute him not: and if any salute thee, answere him not: and laye my staffe vpon the face of the childe.

30 എന്നാൽ കുട്ടിയുടെ അമ്മ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “യഹോവയാണെ, അങ്ങയുടെ ജീവനാണെ, ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെ വിടുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനാൽ എലീശാ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് അവളോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

And the mother of the childe sayde, As the Lord liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I will not leaue thee. Therefore he arose, and followed her.

31 ഗേഹസി മുമ്പേപോയി, വടി ബാലന്റെ മുഖത്തു വെച്ചു. എന്നാൽ യാതൊരു ശബ്ദമോ പ്രതികരണമോ ഉണ്ടായില്ല. അതിനാൽ അയാൾ എലീശയെക്കണ്ട്, “ബാലൻ ഉണർന്നിട്ടില്ല” എന്നവിവരം പറയുന്നതിനായി മടങ്ങി.

But Gehazi was gone before them, and had layed the staffe vpon the face of the childe, but he neither spake nor heard: wherefore hee returned to meete him, and told him, saying, The childe is not waken.

32 എലീശാ ആ ഭവനത്തിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ തന്റെ കിടക്കയിൽ ബാലൻ മരിച്ചുകിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

Then came Elisha into the house, and beholde, the childe was dead, and layed vpon his bedde.

33 അദ്ദേഹം മുറിയിൽക്കടന്ന് വാതിലടച്ചു. താനും ബാലനുംമാത്രം മുറിക്കുള്ളിലായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു.

He went in therefore, and shut the doore vpon them twayne, and prayed vnto the Lord.

34 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം കിടക്കയിൽക്കയറി ബാലന്റെമേൽ കിടന്നു—മുഖത്തോടു മുഖവും കണ്ണോടു കണ്ണും കൈയോടു കൈയും ചേർത്ത് അദ്ദേഹം ബാലന്റെമേൽ കമിഴ്ന്നുകിടന്നപ്പോൾ ബാലന്റെ ദേഹത്തിനു ചൂടുപിടിച്ചു.

After he went vp, and lay vpon the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes vpon his eies, and his hands vpon his handes, and stretched himselfe vpon him, and the flesh of the child waxed warme.

35 എലീശാ ഇറങ്ങി മുറിയിൽ അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും നടന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം വീണ്ടും ബാലന്റെമേൽ കമിഴ്ന്നുകിടന്നു. ബാലൻ ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം തുമ്മി കണ്ണുതുറന്നു.

And hee went from him, and walked vp and downe in the house, and went vp and spred himselfe vpon him: then the childe neesed seuen times, and opened his eyes.

36 എലീശാ ഗേഹസിയെ വിളിച്ച്, “ശൂനേംകാരിയെ വിളിക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അയാൾ അപ്രകാരംചെയ്തു. അവൾ വന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം: “നിന്റെ മകനെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങിക്കൊൾക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then he called Gehazi, and sayd, Call this Shunammite. So he called her, which came in vnto him. And he said vnto her, Take thy sonne.

37 അവൾ അകത്തുവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പാദത്തിൽ വീണ് സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവൾ തന്റെ മകനെയും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

And she came, and fell at his feete, and bowed her selfe to the ground, and tooke vp her sonne, and went out.

38 എലീശാ ഗിൽഗാലിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി. അക്കാലത്ത് അവിടെ ഒരു ക്ഷാമമുണ്ടായി. പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോട്: “വലിയ കലം അടുപ്പത്തുവെച്ച് പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർക്കു പായസം ഉണ്ടാക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Afterward Elisha returned to Gilgal, and a famine was in the land, and the children of the Prophets dwelt with him. And hee sayd vnto his seruant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the children of the Prophets.

39 ഭൃത്യന്മാരിലൊരാൾ ചീര പറിക്കാൻ വയലിലേക്കുപോയി. അയാൾ ഒരു കാട്ടുവള്ളി കണ്ടു; അതിന്റെ കായ്കൾ മടി നിറയെ പറിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അയാൾ മടങ്ങിവന്ന് ആ കായ്കൾ അരിഞ്ഞ് കലത്തിലെ പായസത്തിലിട്ടു. അതെന്താണെന്ന് ആർക്കും അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടായിരുന്നു.

And one went out into the fielde, to gather herbes, and founde, as it were, a wilde vine, and gathered thereof wilde gourdes his garment ful, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew it not.

40 അവർ അത് ആളുകൾക്കു വിളമ്പി. അവർ പായസം കുടിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ “ദൈവപുരുഷാ, കലത്തിൽ മരണം!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് നിലവിളിച്ചു. അതു കുടിക്കാൻ അവർക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

So they powred out for the men to eate: and when they did eate of the pottage, they cryed out, and sayde, O thou man of God, death is in the pot: and they could not eate thereof.

41 “കുറച്ച് മാവ് കൊണ്ടുവരിക,” എന്ന് എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം അതു കലത്തിലിട്ടു. “ഇനി ഇത് ആളുകൾക്കു വിളമ്പിക്കൊടുക്കുക,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ഹാനികരമായ യാതൊന്നും കലത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

Then he said, Bring meale. And hee cast it into the potte, and sayd, Powre out for the people, that they may eate: and there was none euill in the pot.

42 ബാൽ-ശാലീശയിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു. അയാൾ തന്റെ ആദ്യവിളവായ ധാന്യംകൊണ്ട് ഇരുപതു യവത്തപ്പവും കുറച്ചു മലരും ദൈവപുരുഷനു കാഴ്ചയായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നു. “ഇതു ജനങ്ങൾക്കു തിന്മാൻ കൊടുക്കുക!” എന്ന് എലീശാ കൽപ്പിച്ചു.

Then came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, euen twenty loaues of barley, and full eares of corne in the huske. And hee saide, Giue vnto the people, that they may eate.

43 “ഞാനിതെങ്ങനെ നൂറുപേർക്കു വിളമ്പും?” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യൻ ചോദിച്ചു. എലീശാ പിന്നെയും: “ഇതു ജനങ്ങൾക്കു തിന്മാൻ കൊടുക്കുക; ‘അവർ തിന്നുകയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And his seruant answered, How shoulde I set this before an hundreth men? He sayd againe, Giue it vnto the people, that they may eate: for thus sayth the Lord, They shall eate, and there shall remaine.
