2 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 16

1 രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ പേക്കഹിന്റെ പതിനേഴാമാണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോഥാമിന്റെ മകൻ ആഹാസ് രാജാവായി.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, began Ahaz son of Jotham king of Judah to reign.

2 രാജാവാകുമ്പോൾ ആഹാസിന് ഇരുപതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ജെറുശലേമിൽ പതിനാറുവർഷം വാണു. അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പൂർവപിതാവായ ദാവീദിനെപ്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നില്ല; തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ നീതിയായുള്ളത് പ്രവർത്തിച്ചില്ല.

Twenty years old, was Ahaz when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem. And he did not that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh his God, like David his father;

3 ആഹാസ് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴികളിൽ ജീവിച്ചു. യഹോവ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞ അന്യരാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെ മ്ലേച്ഛാചാരങ്ങളെ പിൻതുടർന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം സ്വന്തം പുത്രനെ അഗ്നിയിൽ ഹോമിക്കുകപോലും ചെയ്തു.

but walked in the way of the kings of Israel, —moreover also, me made, his son, pass through the fire, according to the abominable practices of the nations, whom Yahweh dispossessed from before the sons of Israel;

4 അദ്ദേഹം ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും മലകളുടെ മുകളിലും സകലഇലതൂർന്ന മരങ്ങളുടെ കീഴിലും ബലികൾ അർപ്പിക്കുകയും ധൂപാർച്ചന നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

and he offered sacrifice and burned incense in the high places, and on the hills, —and under every green tree.

5 അക്കാലത്ത് അരാംരാജാവായ രെസീനും രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ പേക്കഹ് എന്ന ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവും ജെറുശലേമിനുനേരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനുവന്നു. അവർ ആഹാസിനെ ഉപരോധിച്ചു; പക്ഷേ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചു കീഴ്പ്പെടുത്താൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

then, came up Rezin king of Syria, and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to make war, —and they laid siege against Ahaz, but could not overcome [him].

6 ആ സമയത്ത് അരാംരാജാവായ രെസീൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരെ തുരത്തിയോടിച്ചിട്ട് അരാമിനുവേണ്ടി ഏലാത്ത് തിരികെ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. അതിനുശേഷം ഏദോമ്യർ അവിടെവന്നു വാസമുറപ്പിച്ചു; ഇന്നുവരെയും അവർ അവിടെ പാർക്കുന്നു.

At that time, Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath, to Syria, and wholly cleared out the Jews from Eloth, —and, the Syrians, entered Elath, and have dwelt there, unto this day.

7 ആഹാസ് അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ തിഗ്ലത്ത്-പിലേസറിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സന്ദേശവാഹകരെ അയച്ച് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയിച്ചു: “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനും അങ്ങേക്കു കീഴ്പ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നവനും ആണല്ലോ! അങ്ങ് വന്ന്, എന്നെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്ന അരാംരാജാവിന്റെയും ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെയും കൈയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ വിടുവിച്ചാലും!”

So Ahaz sent messengers unto Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, Thy servant and thy son, I am, —Come up and save me, out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.

8 ആഹാസ് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലും രാജകൊട്ടാരത്തിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വെള്ളിയും സ്വർണവും എടുത്ത് അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിനു സമ്മാനമായി കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

And Ahaz took the silver and the gold that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasuries of the house of the king, —and sent them to the king of Assyria, as a bribe.

9 അങ്ങനെ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവ് ആഹാസിന്റെ അഭ്യർഥന അംഗീകരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം ദമസ്കോസ് ആക്രമിച്ചു കീഴടക്കി. അതിലെ നിവാസികളെ അദ്ദേഹം തടവുകാരാക്കി കീറിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയും അവരുടെ രാജാവായ രെസീനെ വധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

So the king of Assyria hearkened unto him, and the king of Assyria came up unto Damascus, and seized it, and carried away the people thereof captive to Kir, —and put Rezin, to death.

10 പിന്നെ ആഹാസുരാജാവ് അശ്ശൂർരാജാവായ തിഗ്ലത്ത്-പിലേസരിനെ കാണുന്നതിനായി ദമസ്കോസിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം അവിടെ ഒരു ബലിപീഠം കണ്ടു. അതുപോലെ ഒന്നു പണിയിക്കുന്നതിന് അദ്ദേഹം ആ ബലിപീഠത്തിന്റെ ഒരു മാതൃകയും അതിന്റെ പണിയുടെ വിശദമായ രൂപരേഖയും ഊരിയാപുരോഹിതനു കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

So then King Ahaz went to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, in Damascus, and saw the altar which was in Damascus, —and King Ahaz, sent unto Urijah the priest, a likeness of the altar, and a model thereof, according to all the workmanship thereof;

11 അങ്ങനെ ഊരിയാപുരോഹിതൻ, ആഹാസുരാജാവ് ദമസ്കോസിൽനിന്നു കൊടുത്തയച്ച മാതൃകയനുസരിച്ച് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു; രാജാവു തിരിച്ചെത്തുന്നതിനു മുമ്പായിത്തന്നെ അതു പൂർത്തീകരിച്ചു.

and Urijah the priest built an altar, —according to all that King Ahaz sent from Damascus, so, did Urijah the priest make it, by the time King Ahaz came from Damascus.

12 രാജാവു ദമസ്കോസിൽനിന്നു തിരിച്ചെത്തി ആ യാഗപീഠം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് അതിന്മേൽ യാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു.

And, when the king came from Damascus, then the king saw the altar, —so the king drew near unto the altar, and caused offerings to ascend thereupon.

13 അയാൾ ആ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ തന്റെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും ഭോജനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിക്കുകയും പാനീയയാഗം പകരുകയും സമാധാനയാഗത്തിന്റെ രക്തം അതിന്മേൽ തളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And he made perfume with his ascending-sacrifice, and with his meal-offering, and poured out his drink-offering, —and dashed the blood of the peace-offerings which he had, upon the altar.

14 യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്ന വെങ്കലയാഗപീഠം അയാൾ, താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പുതിയ യാഗപീഠത്തിനും ആലയത്തിനും മധ്യേനിന്നു മാറ്റി; താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പുതിയ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ വടക്കുവശത്തായി സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.

And, the altar of bronze which was before Yahweh, he brought away from the forefront of the house, from between the altar, and the house of Yahweh, —and put it at the side of the altar northward.

15 അതിനുശേഷം ആഹാസുരാജാവ് പുരോഹിതനായ ഊരിയാവിന് ഈ ആജ്ഞകൾ കൊടുത്തു: “രാവിലത്തെ ഹോമയാഗവും വൈകുന്നേരത്തെ ധാന്യയാഗവും രാജാവിന്റെ ഹോമയാഗവും ധാന്യയാഗവും ദേശത്തെ സകലജനങ്ങളുടെയും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും അവരുടെ ധാന്യയാഗങ്ങളും അവരുടെ പാനീയയാഗങ്ങളും പുതിയ വലിയ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ അർപ്പിക്കണം. ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളുടെയും മറ്റുയാഗങ്ങളുടെയും രക്തമെല്ലാം ഈ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ തളിക്കണം. വെങ്കലയാഗപീഠം ഞാൻ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതായിരിക്കും.”

And King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying—Upon the great altar, make thou perfume with the ascending-sacrifice of the morning, and with the meal-offering of the evening, and with the ascending-sacrifice of the king and with his meal-offering, and with the ascending-sacrifice of all the people of the land, and their meal-offering and their drink-offering, and, all the blood of the ascending-offering, and all the blood of the [peace] offering, thereupon, shalt thou dash, —but, the altar of bronze, shall be for me to inquire [into].

16 ആഹാസുരാജാവു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഊരിയാപുരോഹിതൻ ചെയ്തു.

So Urijah the priest did according to all that King Ahaz commanded.

17 ആഹാസുരാജാവ് ചലിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന പീഠങ്ങളുടെ ചട്ടപ്പലക മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ട് ക്ഷാളനപാത്രങ്ങൾ അവയുടെമേൽനിന്ന് മാറ്റിക്കളഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം അതു വെങ്കലംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കാളകൾ താങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന വലിയ വെങ്കല ജലസംഭരണി അവയുടെ പുറത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കി ഒരു കൽത്തറമേൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.

And King Ahaz cut off the side walls of the stands, and took away from off them the laver, and, the sea, took he down from off the oxen of bronze, which were under it, —and set it on a pavement of stones.

18 യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പണിതീർത്തിരുന്ന ശബ്ബത്തു‍പന്തൽ ആലയത്തിനുപുറത്ത് രാജാവിനു പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള വാതിലും അദ്ദേഹം അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം ആലയത്തിൽനിന്ന് എടുത്തുമാറ്റി.

Also, the covered walk for the Sabbath, which they had built in the house, and the outer entrance for the king, he changed in the house of Yahweh, —because of the king of Assyria.

19 ആഹാസിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിലെ മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്ത പ്രവൃത്തികളുമെല്ലാം യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ചരിത്രഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടില്ലേ?

Now, the rest of the story of Ahaz, what he did, is, it, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

20 ആഹാസ് നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ച് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് ചേർന്നു; അദ്ദേഹവും ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അടക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ ഹിസ്കിയാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുശേഷം രാജാവായി.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David, —and, Hezekiah his son, reigned, in his stead.
