1 യോശിയാവ് ജെറുശലേമിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കു പെസഹ ആചരിച്ചു. ഒന്നാംമാസം പതിന്നാലാംതീയതി അവർ പെസഹാക്കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ അറത്തു.
And Josiah held a passover to Jehovah in Jerusalem; and they slaughtered the passover on the fourteenth of the first month.
2 അദ്ദേഹം പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ അവരവരുടെ ചുമതലകൾക്കായി നിയോഗിക്കുകയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ ശുശ്രൂഷകൾക്ക് അവരെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of Jehovah.
3 ഇസ്രായേൽജനത സകലരെയും അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്കുകയും യഹോവയ്ക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി വേർതിരിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുമായ ലേവ്യരോട് അദ്ദേഹം കൽപ്പിച്ചു: “ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോൻ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ച ആലയത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ വിശുദ്ധപേടകം സ്ഥാപിക്കുക. ഇനിയും നിങ്ങൾ അതു ചുമലിൽ വഹിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല. ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെയും അവിടത്തെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിനെയും സേവിക്കുക.
And he said to the Levites, that taught all Israel, [and] who were holy to Jehovah, Put the holy ark in the house that Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, built; ye have not to carry it upon your shoulders. Serve now Jehovah your God, and his people Israel;
4 ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെയും നിർദേശങ്ങളനുസരിച്ച് നിങ്ങൾ പിതൃഭവനക്രമത്തിലും ഗണക്രമത്തിലും സ്വയം ഒരുങ്ങുവിൻ!
and prepare yourselves by your fathers' houses, in your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son;
5 “നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങളായ ഇസ്രായേൽജനതയുടെ ഓരോ പിതൃകുലത്തിനും ഓരോ ലേവ്യഗണം വരത്തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങൾ വിശുദ്ധസ്ഥലത്തു നിൽക്കുക.
and stand in the sanctuary for the classes of the fathers' houses, for your brethren, the children of the people, and [according] to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the Levites;
6 നിങ്ങൾ പെസഹ അറക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയും മോശമുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പ്രമാണങ്ങൾക്കനുസൃതമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങളായ ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ ഒരുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക.”
and slaughter the passover, and hallow yourselves, and prepare it for your brethren, that they may do according to the word of Jehovah through Moses.
7 അവിടെ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്ന സാമാന്യജനങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാം പെസഹായാഗം കഴിക്കാനായി യോശിയാവ് മുപ്പതിനായിരം ആടുകളെയും കോലാടുകളെയും മൂവായിരം കാളയെയും കൊടുത്തു. അവ രാജാവിന്റെ സ്വകാര്യസമ്പത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ളവ ആയിരുന്നു.
And Josiah gave for the children of the people a heave-offering of the flocks, lambs and goats, all for the passover-offerings, for all that were present — to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance.
8 രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും സന്മനസ്സോടെ ജനങ്ങൾക്കും പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കും ലേവ്യർക്കുംവേണ്ടി സംഭാവന ചെയ്തു. ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ അധിപതിമാരായ ഹിൽക്കിയാവും സെഖര്യാവും യെഹീയേലും പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ പെസഹായാഗത്തിനായി രണ്ടായിരത്തി അറുനൂറു കുഞ്ഞാടിനെയും മുന്നൂറു കാളയെയും കൊടുത്തു.
And his princes gave a voluntary heave-offering for the people, for the priests, and for the Levites: Hilkijah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the passover-offerings two thousand six hundred [small cattle] and three hundred oxen;
9 കോനന്യാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശെമയ്യാവ്, നെഥനയേൽ എന്നീ സഹോദരന്മാരും ഹശബ്യാവും യെയീയേലും യോസാബാദും ലേവ്യരിലെ നേതാക്കന്മാരും ലേവ്യർക്കു പെസഹായാഗത്തിനായി അയ്യായിരം കുഞ്ഞാടിനെയും അഞ്ഞൂറു കാളയെയും കൊടുത്തു.
and Conaniah, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave as heave-offering to the Levites for the passover-offerings five thousand [small cattle] and five hundred oxen.
10 ശുശ്രൂഷയ്ക്കുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. അപ്പോൾ രാജകൽപ്പനയനുസരിച്ച് പുരോഹിതന്മാർ താന്താങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥാനം ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. ലേവ്യരും ഗണംഗണമായി വന്നുനിന്നു.
And the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king's commandment.
11 അവർ പെസഹാക്കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ അറത്തു; പുരോഹിതന്മാർ അവയുടെ രക്തം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ തളിച്ചു; ലേവ്യർ പെസഹാക്കുഞ്ഞാടുകളുടെ തുകലുരിച്ചു.
And they slaughtered the passover, and the priests sprinkled [the blood] from their hand, and the Levites flayed them.
12 പിതൃഭവനവിഭാഗങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ച് ജനങ്ങൾക്കു വിതരണം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി അവർ ഹോമയാഗത്തിനുള്ളവ നീക്കിവെച്ചു. മോശയുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നപ്രകാരം ജനങ്ങൾ അവ യഹോവയ്ക്കായി സമർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യണമായിരുന്നു. കാളകളുടെ കാര്യത്തിലും അവർ ഇപ്രകാരംതന്നെ ചെയ്തു.
And they set apart the burnt-offerings to give them to the classes of the fathers' houses of the children of the people, to present them to Jehovah, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so [did they] with the oxen.
13 വിധിപ്രകാരം അവർ പെസഹാക്കുഞ്ഞാടിന്റെ മാംസം തീയിൽ ചുട്ടെടുത്തു. മറ്റു അർപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട വിശുദ്ധവസ്തുങ്ങൾ അവർ കലങ്ങളിലും കുട്ടകങ്ങളിലും ചട്ടികളിലും വേവിച്ച് വേഗത്തിൽ ജനങ്ങൾക്കു വിളമ്പിക്കൊടുത്തു.
And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance; and the consecrated things they boiled in pots and in cauldrons and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the children of the people.
14 പിന്നെ അവർ തങ്ങൾക്കും പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കും വേണ്ടതു തയ്യാറാക്കി. അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും മേദസ്സും അർപ്പിക്കുന്നതിൽ രാത്രിവരെയും വ്യാപൃതരായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ലേവ്യർ തങ്ങൾക്കും അഹരോന്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കും വേണ്ടതു തയ്യാറാക്കി.
And afterwards they made ready for themselves and for the priests; because the priests, the sons of Aaron, [were engaged] in offering up the burnt-offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.
15 ആസാഫിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളായ ഗായകന്മാർ ദാവീദിന്റെയും ആസാഫിന്റെയും ഹേമാന്റെയും രാജാവിന്റെ ദർശകനായ യെദൂഥൂന്റെയും നിർദേശങ്ങളനുസരിച്ചുള്ള സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു. ദ്വാരപാലകരും താന്താങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥാനം വിട്ടുപോകേണ്ടതില്ലായിരുന്നു. കാരണം, അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ ലേവ്യർ അവർക്കുവേണ്ടതും ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു.
And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the doorkeepers were at every gate; they had not to depart from their service, for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
16 അങ്ങനെ, യോശിയാരാജാവിന്റെ കൽപ്പനപ്രകാരം പെസഹ ആചരിക്കാനും യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കാനുംവേണ്ട യഹോവയുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷകളെല്ലാം അന്ന് ഒരുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
And all the service of Jehovah was prepared the same day, to hold the passover, and to offer burnt-offerings on the altar of Jehovah according to the commandment of king Josiah.
17 അവിടെ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്ന ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളെല്ലാം പെസഹ ആചരിക്കുകയും ഏഴുദിവസം പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And the children of Israel that were present held the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
18 ശമുവേൽ പ്രവാചകന്റെ കാലത്തിനുശേഷം ഇതുപോലൊരു പെസഹ ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ആചരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും ലേവ്യരോടും അവിടെ ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളോടുകൂടെ വന്നുചേർന്നിരുന്ന സകല യെഹൂദരോടും ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടുംകൂടെ യോശിയാവ് ആചരിച്ചവിധത്തിൽ ഒരു പെസഹ ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരിൽ ആരുംതന്നെ ആചരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
And there was no passover like to that holden in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel hold such a passover as Josiah held, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 യോശിയാവിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാംവർഷത്തിലാണ് ഈ പെസഹാ ആചരിച്ചത്.
In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover holden.
20 ഇതെല്ലാംകഴിഞ്ഞ്, യോശിയാവ് ദൈവാലയകാര്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം ക്രമമാക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ രാജാവായ നെഖോ യൂഫ്രട്ടീസ് നദിയിങ്കലെ കർക്കെമീശിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാനെത്തി. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എതിരിടുന്നതിനായി യോശിയാവു സൈന്യവുമായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
After all this, when Josiah had arranged the house, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Karkemish at the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.
21 എന്നാൽ നെഖോ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു സന്ദേശവാഹകരെ അയച്ച് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയിച്ചു: “യെഹൂദാരാജാവേ, എനിക്കും അങ്ങേക്കുംതമ്മിൽ എന്തു കലഹം? ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നത് അങ്ങയെയല്ല; എനിക്കു യുദ്ധമുള്ള ഗൃഹത്തെമാത്രം. അതു വേഗംചെയ്യാൻ ദൈവമെന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ എന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ എതിർക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കുക. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവിടന്ന് അങ്ങയെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.”
And he sent messengers to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house with which I have war; and God has told me to make haste: keep aloof from God who is with me, that he destroy thee not.
22 എങ്കിലും യോശിയാവ് നെഖോയെ വിട്ടു പിന്മാറിയില്ല, എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹം വേഷപ്രച്ഛന്നനായി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ദൈവകൽപ്പനപ്രകാരം നെഖോ പ്രസ്താവിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങളെ അദ്ദേഹം വകവെച്ചില്ല. മറിച്ച്, മെഗിദ്ദോസമഭൂമിയിൽ നെഖോയുമായി പൊരുതാൻ എത്തി.
But Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight against him; and he hearkened not to the words of Necho from the mouth of God; and he came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.
23 വില്ലാളികൾ യോശിയാരാജാവിനെ എയ്തു. “എന്നെ ഇവിടെനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകുക! എനിക്കു കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away, for I am sore wounded.
24 അതിനാൽ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രഥത്തിൽനിന്നിറക്കി; മറ്റൊരു രഥത്തിലേറ്റി ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു. അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചു. തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സംസ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. സകല യെഹൂദയും ജെറുശലേമും അദ്ദേഹത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി വിലപിച്ചു.
And his servants took him out from the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem. And he died, and was buried in the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.
25 യിരെമ്യാവും യോശിയാവിനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു വിലാപഗീതം രചിച്ചു. സകലപുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും അടങ്ങിയ സംഗീതജ്ഞർ ഇന്നുവരെയും തങ്ങളുടെ വിലാപങ്ങളിൽ യോശിയാവിനെ അനുസ്മരിക്കുന്നു. ഇസ്രായേലിൽ അതൊരു ചട്ടമായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. വിലാപങ്ങളിൽ ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah; and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance for Israel. And behold, they are written in the lamentations.
26 യോശിയാവിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിലെ മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നപ്രകാരം ദൈവഭക്തിയിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമായ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളും
And the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the law of Jehovah,
27 എല്ലാം ആദ്യന്തം ഇസ്രായേലിലെയും യെഹൂദ്യയിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
and his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
