2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 21
1 പിന്നെ, യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ച് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് ചേർന്നു; ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടൊപ്പം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സംസ്കരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അനന്തരാവകാശിയായി രാജസ്ഥാനമേറ്റു.
And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son became king in his stead.
2 അസര്യാവ്, യെഹീയേൽ, സെഖര്യാവ്, അസര്യാവ്, മീഖായേൽ, ശെഫത്യാവ് എന്നിവർ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരായിരുന്നു. ഇവരെല്ലാം ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായിരുന്നു.
And he had brothers the sons of Jehoshaphat: 'Azaryah, and Jechiel, and Zecharyahu, and 'Azaryahu, and Michael, and Shephatyahu, all these being sons of Jehoshaphat the king of Israel.
3 ഇവർക്കെല്ലാം അവരുടെ പിതാവ് ധാരാളം വെള്ളിയും സ്വർണവും വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള സാധനങ്ങളും കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, യെഹൂദ്യയിലുടനീളം കോട്ടകെട്ടി ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയ സംരക്ഷിതനഗരങ്ങളും പിതൃദത്തമായി അവർക്കു കിട്ടിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ യെഹോരാം ആദ്യജാതനായിരുന്നതിനാൽ രാജ്യം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനാണ് നൽകിയത്.
And their father gave them many gifts [consisting] of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the first-born.
4 യെഹോരാം പിതാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ആരൂഢനായി, തന്റെ നില ഭദ്രമാക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ തന്റെ എല്ലാ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും ചില ഇസ്രായേൽ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും വാളിനിരയാക്കി.
Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.
5 രാജാവാകുമ്പോൾ യെഹോരാമിനു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ജെറുശലേമിൽ എട്ടുവർഷം വാണു.
Thirty and two years was Jehoram old when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem.
6 അദ്ദേഹം ആഹാബിന്റെ ഒരു മകളെയാണ് വിവാഹംചെയ്തിരുന്നത്. അതിനാൽ ആഹാബുഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹവും ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴികളിൽ ജീവിച്ചു. യെഹോരാം യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as had done the house of Achab; for the daughter of Achab had he for wife: and he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
7 എന്നിരുന്നാലും താൻ ദാവീദുമായി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഉടമ്പടിമൂലം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭവനത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കാൻ യഹോവയ്ക്കു മനസ്സുവന്നില്ല. ദാവീദിനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സന്തതിപരമ്പരകൾക്കുംവേണ്ടി ഒരു വിളക്ക് എപ്പോഴും പരിരക്ഷിക്കുമെന്ന് യഹോവ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
Yet would the Lord not destroy the house of David, on account of the covenant which he had made with David, and as he had said to give to him a government and to his sons at all times.
8 യെഹോരാമിന്റെ കാലത്ത് ഏദോമ്യർ യെഹൂദയുടെ അധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു. അവർ തങ്ങളുടേതായ ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.
In his days Edom revolted from under the power of Judah, and they appointed a king over themselves.
9 യെഹോരാം തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരോടും രഥങ്ങളോടുംകൂടി അവിടേക്കു ചെന്നു. ഏദോമ്യർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രഥനായകന്മാരെയും വളഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹം രാത്രിയിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ശത്രുക്കളുടെ അണികളെ ഭേദിച്ചു.
Then did Jehoram go over with his princes, and all the chariots were with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots.
10 ഇന്നുവരെയും ഏദോമ്യർ യെഹൂദയുടെ അധികാരത്തിനു കീഴ്പ്പെടാതെ മത്സരിച്ചുനിൽക്കുന്നു. യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ട് അക്കാലത്തുതന്നെ ലിബ്നായും മത്സരിച്ചു.
Yet Edom revolted from under the power of Judah even until this day: then did Libnah revolt at the same time from under his power; because he had forsaken the Lord the God of his fathers.
11 അദ്ദേഹം യെഹൂദ്യയുടെ മലകളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ പണിയിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ജെറുശലേം ജനതയെ പരസംഗം ചെയ്യിക്കുകയും യെഹൂദയെ വഴിതെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുകയും ചെയ്തു.
He also made high-places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, and misled Judah.
12 ഏലിയാ പ്രവാചകനിൽനിന്നു യെഹോരാമിന് ഒരു കത്തുകിട്ടി. അതിൽ ഇപ്രകാരം എഴുതിയിരുന്നു: “നിന്റെ പൂർവപിതാവ് ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘നീ നിന്റെ പിതാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെയോ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസായുടെയോ വഴിയിൽ ജീവിച്ചില്ല.
And there came unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus hath said the Lord the God of David thy father, Inasmuch as thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Assa the king of Judah,
13 പിന്നെയോ, നീ ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ ജീവിച്ചു; ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നീ യെഹൂദ്യയെയും ജെറുശലേമിലെ ജനത്തെയും പരസംഗം ചെയ്യിച്ചു. നീ സ്വന്തം സഹോദരന്മാരെ വധിച്ചു. അവർ സ്വന്തം ഭവനത്തിലെ അംഗങ്ങളും നിന്നെക്കാൾ വളരെയേറെ ഭേദപ്പെട്ടവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, as the house of Achab hath caused [others] to go astray, and hast also slain thy brothers of thy father's house, who were better than thyself:
14 അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ജനത്തെയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും നിനക്കുള്ള സകലതിനെയും യഹോവ വളരെ കഠിനമായി ശിക്ഷിക്കും.
Behold, the Lord will inflict a great plague on thy people, and on thy children, and on thy wives, and on all thy possessions;
15 നിനക്കോ, കുടലിൽ ഒരു വ്യാധിമൂലം കഠിനരോഗം പിടിപെടും; നിന്റെ കുടൽമാല വെളിയിൽ ചാടുന്നതുവരെയും ഈ വ്യാധി വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.’”
And thou shalt be [afflicted] with great diseases by a disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels pass out [from thee] by reason of the disease days upon days.
16 കൂശ്യരുടെ അടുത്ത് താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന ഫെലിസ്ത്യരിലും അറബികളിലും യഹോവ യെഹോരാമിനെതിരേ ശത്രുത ഉളവാക്കി.
And the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that are alongside of the Cushim:
17 അവർ യെഹൂദയ്ക്കെതിരേ പുറപ്പെട്ട് അതിനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു. രാജകൊട്ടാരത്തിൽക്കണ്ട സകലവസ്തുവകകളും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാർ, പുത്രന്മാർ എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം അപഹരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി. ഇളയമകൻ യഹോവാഹാസല്ലാതെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഒരുവനും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.
And they went up against Judah, and made an incursion into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and also his sons, and his wives; and there was not left unto him any son, save Jehoachaz, the youngest of his sons.
18 ഇതെല്ലാം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കുടലിലെ മാറാവ്യാധിയാൽ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു.
And after all this did the Lord afflict him in his bowels with a disease which was incurable.
19 ക്രമേണ, രണ്ടുവർഷം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ വ്യാധിമൂലം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുടൽമാല വെളിയിൽ വന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം കഠിനവേദനയിൽ മരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ജനം അഗ്നികുണ്ഡം കൂട്ടി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചില്ല.
And it came to pass, from days to days, and when the [fixed] time was expired, after two years, that his bowels passed out [from him] by reason of his disease: so he died of evil diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning for his fathers.
20 രാജാവാകുമ്പോൾ യെഹോരാമിന് മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം എട്ടുവർഷം ജെറുശലേമിൽ ഭരണംനടത്തി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വേർപാടിൽ ആരും ദുഃഖിച്ചില്ല. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറയിൽ ആയിരുന്നില്ലതാനും.
Thirty and two years old was he when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem, and departed without joy: and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
